Exam 1Z0-007 and Ucertify prep kit

Hi,
I am studying for exam 1Z0-007 and like to know if anyone has used ucertufy for exam 1Z0-007 in the past and how good is their prep material? Their demo version looks good but that will be great if someone share his experience of using ucertify for 1z0-007 exam.
Thanks

ThanksBe pleased to read this thread {thread:id=990732}
Be pleased also for correct spelling of Ucertify when searching for their website.
Well as far as I can see the 30 day access to Selftestsoftware is the same as the Ucertify.
But you pays your money and you takes your choice. Or you dont spend any more moeny and keep practicing.
But if you run out of money preparing for 1z0-007 ... (which doesnt get you a certificate) .... then what will you do for he tougher exams?
Best luck with your decisions.

  • Exam 1Z0-007 and questions from Controlling User Access

    Hi,
I am preparing for exam 1Z0-007 and going to give this exam in two weeks. I like to confirm if "Controlling User Access" topic is part of this exam 1Z0-007? I have checked on Oracle website and this topic is not a part if this exam anymore unless they add it later.
Has anyone recently given this exam and were there any questions related to "Controlling User Access" or user Privileges?
    Thanks

ThanksI recommend people are very very very careful in answering this question as it could be very easy to breach one's certification candidate agreement.

It is certainly true the topic you mentioned is in ISBN: 007-219537-1 printed in 2001.
It is also apparent, unless bigdelboy's eyeball is deceiving him, the topic does not appear in [http://education.oracle.com/pls/web_prod-plq-dad/db_pages.getpage?page_id=41&p_org_id=28&lang=US&p_exam_id=1Z0_007] which is authorative.
I have not followed these things that closely until recently, however this will not be the only example of an OraclePress/Sybex book being left behind because of errata/topic updates etc. These often occur when the exams are update for new releases, eg from 10gR1 to 10gR2; or for when the exam moves from beta to production (sometimes these books are prepared and even pulbished while exam is in beta). In your case I suspect the change quite probably have occured when the exam moved from 9gR1 to 9gR2 or to better accomodate the WDP programme. The exam may also be influenced by the content of Oracle training courses that are being taught and from time to time these will be chaged for a variety of reasons.
How you handle it is up to you ..... you may:
    - ignore these topics. IMHO you are always entitled to complain if questions asked did not sigificantly match the published topics and you feel this caused you to fail. (I assume the remedy would be a retake voucher). You can hit a comment button on the question and also a comment button the the end of the exam. This is a sort of negative approproach.
    - Go over these topics. If your're serious about Oracle you really need to understand this anyway. See it as an opportunity. A few hours revision ought tosee you able to answer 50% of he topics. This is a positive approach. And this if how certification study ought to be .... sometimes it good to investigate a non examined topic that is interesting.

  • 1Z0-007 and 1Z0-051 can be passed from home???

i had come to know that exams 1Z0-007 and 1Z0-051 can be passed from home at http://oracle.prometric.com/ as this test does not require a proctor sign-in (test supervisor). so does this mean that i could write these exams in my home without visiting prometric centers??? or does that mean something else??
    and how about the exam

Online exams are non-proctored, which means that you can take them at your convenience any time, anywhere. Pre-registration is not required. You register when you are ready to take the exam.
Online exams are closed-book exams --- books, course materials and notes are not allowed. You should prepare for them fully and rely on your own mastery of the material.
Candidates who take the online exams are subject to the Oracle Fraudulent Activity policy and must agree to the Oracle Candidate Agreement (presented at the beginning of the exam). You should never have someone take the exam for you. You should never test under a name other than your own, and/or test using more than one name or Prometric Testing ID.

  • Is UCertify any good for exam 1Z0-007?

Hi, I am thiking about buying UCertify practise questions for exam 1Z0-007, i am wondering if anyone has used it in the past and how good is their product?
I can't afford Transcender prep material, the other option is SelfTest but they provide money back guarentee in 2nd shot. Ucertify offers more practise questions then SelfTest but really don't know how good they are?
Does SelfTest offer same practise questions which comes in Oracle press book CD?
I have already studied the sybex and Oracle press book but there are few topics which you really can't memorized them like functions , sybex book has covered alot of functions as compared to Oracle press book and i know the half of them becuase i have used them in my job. So if i buy SelfTest practise questions then do i need to practise only those functions which have been covered in practise exams? Or other function topics can be asked in real exam?
    Thanks

    ThanksInteresting question.
Its always good to refer back to [http://blogs.oracle.com/certification/2009/05/the_route_you_choose.html]
Usually I find myself refering people back to that because they are going for unauthorised learning material, but I'll refer you to that as compliment for staying on the right route, and also because it has a couple of tips that might help.
Obviously Transcender/Selftest are the authorised practice test providers, (though they are now both owned by the same company Kaplan IT) and it is not recommended to buy both Transcender and Selftest for the same exam as material may be similar. Generally they market Transcender is better but more expensive (certainly for more recent exams).
[http://www.certguard.com] shows the offical Ucertify website as a SAFE website so you would be IMHO showing sufficient due dillegence in purchasing from this Vendor. Be aware however that unscrupulous third parties may be trying to either pretend to be Ucertify when they are not by setting up similar sounding websites and others may be selling Ucertify material in beach of conditions. Anyway a quick prowse round for me in the UK shows:
A uCertify 1z0-007 is currently on special offer at just under 1/2 the price of the oracle exam
A Selftest Software Practice Test 30 day online access is about just over 1/2 the price of the oracle exam
A Selftest unlimied time software download is a about 80% of the cost of the oracle exam.
At a guess without looking Transcender will probably be 20-30% more expensive than Selftestsoftware.
Bear in mind I have not seen tests from any of these Vendors myself. From my memory, which is imperfect, I recall seeing comments that uCertify was typically of a lower quality than say transcender for some tests. However even if this was true it may have changed.
To some extent for you wishing to minimze expenditure the question is is forking out extra money on practice tests worth it when you may pass the exam anyway?
To some exent there should be enought practice tests between the Orace and Sybex Books and associated CDROM's to cover the exam well enough anyways (though bear in mind this is an older exam was have had an update to topics since exam was printed .... and arguably quality has usually improved somewhat with books for later exams like 1z0-051). You may however have exhausted all he test/practice questions too early, and a test question/exam is mos valuable the first time you see it, and it loses value the second time you see it as you may remember the answer. I try to take practice tests only after I think I have practiced and learnt all the material fully (and this applies even to the end of chapter practices).
    My suggestion would be:
Dont answer any practice tests for a week (or two).
Make flashcards of the thing you need to memorize.
Practice and revise through the books you hve (but dont look at questions).
To not revise immediately before taking practice tests.
Then go through the questions at the end of the chapters.
However well you did re-revise the chapter afterwards, make ore flashcards if necessary.
If you got less than say 85% on any chapter redo that 2/3 days later.
Then take CDROM practice tests. If your getting less than 85% then dont go back to the next test but redo difficult areas.
If your getting 80 - 85% on the last CDROM test then take the exam.
(or if you really feel you need to buy some prctice tests).
Lookout in the FAQs for advice by Hans also.
Edited by: bigdelboy on 21-Nov-2009 03:33 (Be aware these Oracle Press Books, Tests and CDROMs may have occasional mistakes, wrong answers and CDROM glitches ... this can be especially true of the older publications)

  • Which book topics to follow for exam 1Z0-007? Sybex or Oracle press?

Hi, I am studying following both books for exam 1Z0-007 but sybex book by Chip Dawes covers more topics then oracle book. I am wondering if i still need to study those topics in sybex book which are not covered in oracle press book? For example DML Locks have been discussed in detail in sybex book as compare to oracle book and few topics are missing in oracle press and don't know if there will be any question in the exam from those topics?
    1) OCP Introduction to Oracle9i: SQL Exam Guide by Jason Couchman
    2) OCA/OCP: Introduction to Oracle9i SQL Study Guide by Chip Dawes, Biju Thomas
Can anyone pls advise? Also i like to know if SelfTest software covers same questions which are in sybex and oracke press book? Because SelfTest software has same questions for microsoft exams which are already in the cd of microsoft official press books.
    Thanks

The proper method is to look at the exam topics on [http://education.oracle.com/pls/web_prod-plq-dad/db_pages.getpage?page_id=41&p_org_id=1001&lang=US&p_exam_id=1Z0_007] which is authorative.
either the Sybex or Oracle Press book is authorative, and sometimes exam changes after these are printed (with revision from 9iR1 to9iR2 for example).
In general you should probably have enough material in the two books given for this exam. Its probably cheaper to take the exam itself rather than buy additional Selftest questions. Your time may well be better spent practicing the things you have trouble with. Also be aware these books can have errors. And learn whichever is in either book even if it isnt examined. Its good for you!

To my Pompey English 'Appear' means 'To turn up for'.  If I take 'appear' to mean 'pass' then I will answer that:

Your 1z0-007 will count as a qualifying exam for SQL ... reference: https://blogs.oracle.com/certification/entry/0864_05
You are strongly advised to consider the implications of the upcoming 10g exam retirements ... https://blogs.oracle.com/certification/entry/1060_01
If particular if you are intending to submit 10g training towards DBA OCP training that training will only count towards a 10g DBA OCP certification; the 1z0-043 needing to be passed by the march cutoff date in 2015.  If you get 10g DBA OCA and then need to achieve DBA certification via 1z0-34/1z0-067 you will need to satisfy the training requirement for those exams; which may mean you might need to attend additional training.

  • Exams 1Z0-141 and 1Z0-147 Not Retiring

Retirement for exams 1Z0-141 and 1Z0-147 has been postponed. Upon further assessment, there appears to still be a significant enough group of individuals taking these two exams that we have chosen to postpone their retirement at this time. There is not a current retirement date for these two exams. Exams 1Z0-141 and 1Z0-147 will remain available after July 31, 2013.

    Certification Forum ModeratorMy opinion is:
Particularly in the 1z0-147 case this exam is more open to braindump abuse than the later 1z0-144. In both cases a candidate of one of those exams should be able to transition to studying for the other without overmuch effort. Indeed if they had passed their certification we would expect them to do that.
Having said that it may be that WDP (and others), but it is WDP that counts, have been training people towards 1z0-147/141 rather than 1z0-144/1z0-151; and if this was the case Oracle owes care to these people.
1z0-147 exams rely on training on software that can not longer be downloaded from OTN.
My concern, and it is perhaps legitimate to ask the concern, is that they is simple number counting being done here as opposed to 'why?'.
Please consider: http://www.supernanny.co.uk/TV-Show.aspx ... rewarding good behaviour, Victoria Stillwell ... etc. etc.
    Thankyou.

What is the procedure to get both cretification merged and get OCA certificate?
How much time this process will take?

Uday0) Warning: Dont publish your Oracle Testing Id. or Prometric Id. on this website, it would be a breach of the NDA you have agreed to.
0.1) Register with certview.oracle.com ... it helps to know where you are at..
    1) Identify your Prometric Number that you took your prometric exam under.
    2) Identify your Oracle Testing Id. you have under Pearson VUE.
    3) If they are the same all is ok.
    4) If they are different full details of both will need to goto Pearson VUE requesting a merge. (I haven't recently checked the FAQs for updates on this procedure.
    5) Dont try to request a merge while you certview regsitration is in progress.

  • Exams 1Z0-001 and 1Z0-007

I wonder, can you be an Oracle 9i certified database associate if you have a combination of 1Z0-001 (oracle 8i Pl/SQL) and 1Z0-031? (9iDatabase fundamentals 1)

dat doesnt make any difference, actually 1z0-007 is purely sql and 1z0-001 is sql+pl\sql;whereas 1z0-147 is purely pl\sql.
so my suggestion is go for 007+147

First congrats on being OCA and welcome to OTN forums. I don't think that there is any restriction for using the OCA logo provided you have got it from official OCA site. This requires a user name and password to be used to download the authentic logo from Oracle which will come only with your success kit. So technically speaking, if you have passed OCA , you can very well use the logo but ethically speaking, you should wait for the success kit to arrive containing your user name and password to download it.
For the OCP prepparation, the exam contents are here,

  • Retirement of 1z0-007 1z0-147 1z0-031 1z0-032 1z0-033 exams .....

    The retirement of 1z0-007 1z0-147 1z0-031 1z0-032 1z0-033 must surely be imminent .
I think WDP should have stopped teaching them a while ago.
For 1z0-007 and 1z0-147 suitable and IMHO better alternatives exist in 1z0-051 and 1z0-144. People are not exposed to best practice studying for those older exams.
IMHO There is no real reason why 1z0-007 and 1z0-147 could not be set for retirement immediately ... (ie in 3 months time) and any candidates studying should find litle gap in studying for the alternatives.
1z0-031 for 9i DBA OCA and then 1z0-032 + 1z0-033 for 9i DBA OCP it is a different matter .... essentially because of the number of exams in the track and the fact mandatory training is required to complete the track. And from once all those exams are withdrawn any undertaken will not be valid for a later Oracle Database version, 10g or 11g or 12c ( and it would set an (IMHO bad) precedent for earlier version training to be allowed for a later version).
In some ways those trained on these should already have had sufficient time to certify ... and in many ways a majority (but perhaps not all) of those caught out perhaps deserve little sympathy .... But anyone caught out after having passed 1z0-007 + 1z0-031 + 1z0-032 but not 1z0-033 would feel aggrieved by having to do more training plus take 1z0-0[45]2 and 1z0-0[45]3 to get DBA OCP.
And retiring 1z0-031; 1z0-032; and 1z0-033 simultaneously with 3 months notice could leave people stuck on track and this could be branded as 'unfair'. (And I assume these exams will need to be retired when Database 12c finally goes production).
Can I therefore suggest the following may allow people avoid people getting stuck on track:
    0) Retirement of 1z0-007 and 1z0-147 immediately (well 3 months notice) .... this gives the word out to candidates of this era that the exams of this era are being removed.
    1) An effective 6 month notice of retirement of 1z0-032 and 1z0-033:
    This could be achieved by:
1a) A 6 month (or even end of year) simulaneous announcement of retirement of 1z0-031/2/3.
1b) A three month notification of retirement of 1z0-031 ... this would stop people entering the 9i DBA OCP exam track ... but not retiring 1z0-032 and 1z0-033 for at least a further 3 months after that date.
Thinking as I write this an annoucement to retire:
    1z0-007, 1z0-147, 1z0-031 on 31st may 2013 then 1z0-032,1z0-033 at the end of october/november/december 2013 would be perhaps helpful.
This is prompted by {thread:id=2492717} indicating there are still people midway through the 9i DBA OCP track who may be caught by its retirement. One may argue they if they wish to be OCP
Readers should note I am nore authorative on these matters, and the certification team are unlikely to announce a retirement before it happens, so I would not expect them to be able to comment on this until an annoucement for retirement is actually made (apart from we review exams for retirement regularly), but I do feel they listen to such comments and take them into account.

As {thread:id=2511529} a retirement announcement has been made at https://blogs.oracle.com/certification/entry/0864_01
Some people have already commnets on how 1z0-147 and 1z0-141 are affected, though as 1z0-144 and 1z0-151 are available with a high topic correlation there really isn't too big a deal on these.
The retirement of the 10g OAS exams probably essentially now has little impact as this is an end of life production replacing with weblogic.
The big impact could be a number of people on the 9i DBA OCP certification who will find their existing training invalidated unless they complete 9i DBA OCP before requirement; and if they fail to do that they will need to pay more to retrain to complete DBA OCP. I am expecting some squeals in this area from people who have dallied ... though arguably in most (but not all cases) there may be little reason to be overly sympathetic with their dalliance. This thread post, and others I have made previously, was a warning.
