Example for V1, V2 updates

Hi Experts,
1) I know the diference btwn V1(Updates immediately, locking involved, not sharing etc) and V2 updates. But, let me know the real world examples for both.
2) And in some cases, I hv seen COMMIT work after the statement of MODIFY Z_DB_TABLE statement, but, when I updated my Z table, i did not used this commit, but, still its working, so, why in some cases they used COMMIT after MODIFY a Z table?

Hi,
The real time example can be in this way for booking a movie ticket needs to be updated immediately...
this should be done using V1 updates because we have to block the seats so that no other system can block it.
but something like master data that which movie is going to release next in the theatre can be done in V2 update because that does not require any immediate effect or any current involvement of other system to it as it has to be done by admins.
Check the following link to better understand V1 and V2 updates....

What Mac model do you have? You might be able to upgrade the OS to Tiger 10.4 or Leopard 10.5.
Even browsers for Tiger 10.4 will get the update message.
You could try a newer browser than Safari, which is obsolete, by downloading Firefox v2.0.0.20 at http://www.oldapps.com/mac/firefox.php

  • How to prevent iTunes for Windows from "Updating iTunes Library"? (Library is on a NAS and managed by iTunes for Mac. Now getting update wars between Mac and Windows versions of the player.

How to prevent iTunes for Windows from "Updating iTunes Library"?
My library is on a NAS and managed by iTunes on a Mac. I can connect from wife's Windows laptop using iTunes for Windows but every time I do, it Updates iTunes Library. Next time I log in from my Mac it Updates iTunes Library in return. It appears I'm experiencing "Update Wars" between the Mac and Windows versions of iTunes. I would like to allow my wife to stream iTunes songs to her new laptop but I don't want any updates from this source... prefer to manage the library from my Mac and not allow Windows to do any thing other than listen to existing playlists.
    Thanks for any help/suggestions.

Connect the PC to the library on the NAS. Wait while "updated".
Under Edit > Preferences > Advanced make sure the media folder is correctly pointed at the media folder on the NAS. If not correct, close iTunes, wait a few moments, then open iTunes again.
Close iTunes on the PC. Do not open iTunes on the Mac.
Copy the library files, iTunes Library.itl, iTunes Library Extras.itdb, iTunes Library Genius.itdb, sentinel and the folder Album Artwork into an empty iTunes folder on the PC, for example C:\iTunes.
Click the icon to start iTunes and immediately press and hold down SHIFT. Keep holding until prompted to choose or create a library. Click choose and browse to the copied .itl file, e.g. C:\iTunes\iTunes Library.itl
The library should now work properly on the PC, however check the setting for the media folder. If needs be correct, close iTunes and reopen.
Open iTunes on the Mac. It will update again, but that should be last time.

  • I would like to connect a printer that requires OS 10.6 or newer. My MacBook is currently using OS 10.5.8. In searching for a software update, I am told no updates are needed. How can I upgrade my OS to 10.6 or better?

I would like to connect a printer that requires OS 10.6 or newer. My MacBook is currently using OS 10.5.8. In searching for a software update, I am told no updates are needed (and am given no option for updating my OS). How can I upgrade my OS to 10.6 or newer?

You have to understand the difference between an Update and an Upgrade.
An Update is a free change to add to the base code or as a bug fix within an existing Operating System. Such as the .8 added to OSX 10.5 or the .11 added to OSX 10.4..
An Upgrade is a complete new Operating System that must be purchased. Such as 10.5 Leopard to 10.6 Snow Leopard.
10.5 Leopard was written for Power PC Macs with code added to force it to run on Intel processors.
10.6 Snow Leopard has completely rewritten code and only runs on Intel Macs.
10.7 Lion ($19.99) used some 32 bit which allows it to run on Late 2006 through Early 2008 MacBooks and a lot of 64 bit code.
10.8 Mountain Lion ($19.99) is pure 64 bit, which excludes more systems than Lion did. It can only run on the Late 2008 through Mid 2010 MacBooks. It's not something you can add memory to, for example, as it involves the base architecture.
10.9 Mavericks is pure 64 bit and is a free download from the App store.
The 10.6 Snow Leopard DVD is in the Apple online store. You can get it for $19.99. http://store.apple.com/us/product/MC573/mac-os-x-106-snow-leopard After you’ve installed that then download the 10.6.8 combo updater to finish it off. http://support.apple.com/kb/DL1399 You will need to be running 10.6.8 to access the App Store to order Lion, Mountain Lion or Mavericks which are downloads only.
    System Requirements for 10.6:
Mac computer with an Intel processor
    1GB of memory
    5GB of available disk space
    DVD drive for installation
Some features require a compatible internet service provider: fees may apply.

  • HT5766 Where can I find the size of a download for a software update now?

    Hello,
Where can I find the size of a download for a software update now?
Since I upgraded to Mountain Lion (Mac OSX 10.8.3) this information is no longer available in software updates listing you get if you click on the Software Update menu item from the Apple menu.
I found the download size (often hundreds of megabytes for an individual update and sometimes a set of updates might amount to a few gigabytes) to be very helpful, and now that it seems no longer available (I can't even see it on the web page I came to for more information, thinking the download size would surely be specified there), it is frustrating. My current example is iTunes 11.0.3
I would greatly appreicate having this information back in the software updates listing, but since it is no longer available there, and I don't know where else to find it, if anybody can enlighten me to its whereabouts, I'd be grateful.
    Thanks and cheers!

  • SAP_HTTPServicePort URLs in SLD for PI are updated by SLD host name itself

We have upgraded our PI 7.0 to 7,1. We have a central SLD. After the upgrade, SAP_HTTPServicePort URLs (in SLD Content maintenance) for the PI are all getting initialized with SLD host name itself.
    Example: for port.CIDX.af.pip.<PIPhostname>
    URL: http://solman:50100/MessagingSystem/receive/CIDXAdapter/CIDX
    solman is my central SLD.
This is happening in our production system only. In Dev/QAS systems, the behavior is normal like
    http://PIDHostname:50000/MessagingSystem/receive/CIDXAdapter/CIDX
I have tried to update the URLs manually, but, when the instance is bounced, the SLD is getting refreshed with the erroneous URLs.
I want to know where from the SLD content is refreshed?

    There are two ways....
Option 1 : Go to the BS of ur R3 system in Integration Direction. Go to edit mode mode and select Properties -> Adapter Specific attributes - > enter the LS name and save...
Option2 : You can use it from the mapping.... U either hard code/use from source the EDIDC40 section of ur mapping and the in ur IDOC receiver config select the option user
Option ! is the best soln...All the IDOC to that R3 system will go the specified LS...

  • Examples for Synchronous and asynchronous

    Hi all,
Please can any body give me the real time example for Synchronous and asynchronus
                                                   Ranjith

Let us take example of calling a transaction for update:
    Call Transaction
Synchronous calls are slower but should be used for transactions that are updating the database because control is not passed back to the program until a successful database commit (or rollback) has been executed. Note this the real SQL commit at the database level not the ABAP command COMMIT WORK. Synchronous calls will set the return code (sy-subrc) if an error is encountered. There are actually two synchrounous update modes:
'S', Synchronous update mode makes database entries describing the updates to be done and an update task (potentially running on a different computer) reads those database entries, does the update, and then deletes the entries describing the update task.
'L', Local update mode describes the updates to be done in the memory of the current process. No entries are made in and then deleted from the database describing the update task.
Asynchronous calls are the default if the UPDATE parameter is not specified. Asynchronous calls do not effect the return code (sy-subrc).
Note - This is opposite of how synchronous/asynchronous workflow tasks behave, in the sense that control is returned to the workflow in a synchronous step even if there is no commit or rollback encountered!

  • How can I disable notification for new install update for adobe??

How can I disable notification for new install update for adobe (adobe reader, flash player, etc.)
Is there way from SCCM2012 or group policy or any easy way?????
    Please help me

If you mean the built-in functionality of Adobe Reader and Adobe Flash, it's different mechanism for both.
For the reader, check this guide for example:
    http://www.adminarsenal.com/admin-arsenal-blog/bid/84409/Adobe-Customization-Wizard-XI-Tutorial
For flash, check this guide for example:
    http://jthys.wordpress.com/2012/07/07/disable-automatic-updates-for-adobe-flash-shockwave-player-reader/
After you've studied the above guides, you need to implement those to be used with ConfigMgr application deployment so that when you deploy Reader/Flash, you get the result you want = no automatic update functionality.

  • Write-Progress in PowerShell script for installing Missing Updates

Hi, I had a previous question here
    https://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/windowsserver/en-US/88931488-3b2c-4c08-9ad3-6651ba9bbcef/action?threadDisplayName=progress-indicator-for-installing-missing-sccm-2012-r2-updates
But that method is not working as expected.  The progress bar displays then continues to increment past 100 throwing an error each time.
I'm thinking I could use a foreach loop for the missing updates but I'm just lost when it comes to Powershell syntax.
    For example:
    # Get the number of missing updates
    [System.Management.ManagementObject[]] $CMMissingUpdates = @(GWMI -ComputerName $server -query "SELECT * FROM CCM_SoftwareUpdate WHERE ComplianceState = '0'" -namespace "ROOT\ccm\ClientSDK") #End Get update count.
$result.UpdateCountBefore = "The number of missing updates is $($CMMissingUpdates.count)"
    #Install missing updates.
    #Begin example code, not tested.
    Foreach ($update in $CMMissingUpdates)
    $i++
    If ($CMMissingUpdates.count) {
    $CMInstallMissingUpdates = (GWMI -ComputerName $server -Namespace "root\ccm\clientsdk" -Class "CCM_SoftwareUpdatesManager" -List).InstallUpdates($CMMissingUpdates)
    Do {
    Start-Sleep -Seconds 15
    [array]$CMInstallPendingUpdates = @(GWMI -ComputerName $server -query "SELECT * FROM CCM_SoftwareUpdate WHERE EvaluationState = 6 or EvaluationState = 7" -namespace "ROOT\ccm\ClientSDK")
    #end my example code.
#The code below is working to install updates but Write-Progress isn't.
    If ($CMMissingUpdates.count) {
#$result.UpdateCountBefore = "The number of missing updates is $($CMMissingUpdates.count)"
    $CMInstallMissingUpdates = (GWMI -ComputerName $server -Namespace "root\ccm\clientsdk" -Class "CCM_SoftwareUpdatesManager" -List).InstallUpdates($CMMissingUpdates)
#Set the missing updates to variable for progress indicator.
    $updates = $CMMissingUpdates.Count
    $Increment = 100 / $updates
    $Percent = 0
    Do {
    Start-Sleep -Seconds 15
    [array]$CMInstallPendingUpdates = @(GWMI -ComputerName $server -query "SELECT * FROM CCM_SoftwareUpdate WHERE EvaluationState = 6 or EvaluationState = 7" -namespace "ROOT\ccm\ClientSDK")
    #Not 100% sure $result.UpdateCountBefore is needed below.
$result.UpdateCountBefore = "The number of pending updates for installation is: $($CMInstallPendingUpdates.count)"
Write-Progress -Activity "Updates are installing..." -PercentComplete $Percent -Status "Working..."
    $Percent = $Percent + $Increment
    } While (($CMInstallPendingUpdates.count -ne 0) -and ((New-TimeSpan -Start $StartTime -End $(Get-Date)) -lt "00:45:00"))
Write-Progress -Activity "Updates Installed" -Status "Done" -Completed
    } ELSE {
    $result.UpdateCountAfter = "There are no missing updates."}
    $result

The increment should be 100  / (max number of items)
That will not exceed 100 through (max number of items ) iterations in a loop
Mathematically that can be written as
100 / (Max Number of items) * (max number of items ) iterations in a loop
    = 100 * ( (Max Number of Item) / (Number Iterations in a loop) )
    = 100 * 1 = 100
The (max number of items) and (Number of Iterations in a loop ) need to be based on the same number.
In the script, it is not based on the same number.
The maximum number of items is $CMMissingUpdates.Count
The number of iterations in the loop  is based on the condition
    ($CMInstallPendingUpdates.count -ne 0)
Which causes the iterations of the loop to exceed $CMMissingUpdates.Count
Assuming the $CMInstallPendingUpdates.count is going down (is decremented) through the loop, then
    $Increment = 100 /
    $CMInstallPendingUpdates.count

If you need to run Appleworks 6 to export some data (for example a database, which cannot be opened by any other program):
    a)  If your Mac will still boot into Snow Leopard, partition your hard drive (or add an external hard drive) and install Snow Leopard (and the optional Rosetta) into it and use the "dual-boot" method to boot into Snow Leopard and run Appleworks 6; or
    b)  Install Snow Leopard Server into Parallels and run Appleworks 6 concurrently with Lion, Mt. Lion and Mavericks:

  • What criteria should I use for the monthly updates

I am just starting to setup Software Update for SCCM 2012 R2. The configuration is done with the Classifications and Products selected and working.  I selected the Classifications:
    Critical Updates
    Definition Updates
    Security Updates
    Service Packs
    Update Rollups
    Updates
Now I am just looking for the criteria to use for my Software Update Groups.
I watched this GREAT VIDEO "SCCM 2012 SP1 and the new way handling Software Updates explained", URL:
http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/video/sccm-2012-sp1-and-the-new-way-handling-software-updates-explained.aspx regarding the "new way" we are to be doing the groups and updates.  The video is
very informative and explains a lot, but it does not say what criteria is used.
This is the breakdown from the video, but again it doesn't say what criteria may be:
     • Keep Software Update Groups (SUG) Limited to 1,000 updates
     • Don't split products into different SUG's
     • Enabled Delta replication for the Software Update Points (SUP)
     • Set High priority for the Software Distribution Group
    Software Update Groups
     • Exceptions group (not to deploy)
     • TMG Definition Updates
     • SCEP 2012 Definition Updates
     • Outlook Definition Updates
     • 2003-2010_All Updates
     • 2011_All Updates
     • 2012_All Updates
     • 2013-01_All Updates
     • 2013-02_All Updates
    Deployment Packages
     • TMG Definition Updates
     • SCEP 2012 Definition Updates
     • Outlook Definition Updates
     • 2003-2010_All Updates
     • 2011_All Updates
     • 2012_All Updates
     • 2013_All Updates
    Automatic Deployment Rules
     • Microsoft Outlook 2010/2013 Definition Updates
      ○ Run after synchronization
     • Monthly Updates
      ○ Every Month on day 16 of the month
      ○ Uncheck "Enable the deployment after this rule is run
     • SCEP 2012 Definition Updates
      ○ Run after synchronization
     • TMG Definition Updates
      ○ Run after updates
I am specifically looking mostly for the Monthly updates and to make sure they are only those needed.  Most I have seen use:
    Superseded:  No
    Expired:  No
    Bulletin starts with "MS"
I don't really know what the "MS" limits things to.  Sorry a lot of information and not very clearly laid out.

I am specifically looking mostly for the Monthly updates and to make sure they are only those needed.  Most I have seen use:
    Superseded:  No
    Expired:  No
    Bulletin starts with "MS"
I don't really know what the "MS" limits things to.
I use a similar approach, as one part of my routine.
When you filter/search on Superseded=NO, that discards the updates which are flagged as superseded, but this depends totally upon your routine and understanding of the nature of supersedence, and it's also time-sensitive, since CM12 will by default, kill off
superseded updates after a time. A Superseded update *is* deployable, but you'd likely only do that, if the superseding update is unsuitable for your environment for some reason, e.g. it introduces a bug or regression that you can't afford.
Expired=NO, well, again that's to limit your filter/search results. Since an expired update is not deployable, why bother to have it in your results list, if you are building a deployment. It's handy to know that something is, or has become, expired, if
you are troubleshooting or analysing a "why did/didn't xyz happen?", but for deploying, expired updates are just useless clutter.
Bulletin starts with "MS" can be handy to filter out the "non-security" updates, since "security" updates are always issued with an MSyy-nnn bulletin ID.
Note that the bizarre MS definition of "security update" does not mean that security bulletins cover *all* security-related updates, since there are updates that are released, which do provide security fixes, enhancement, etc, but they don't always attract
a security bulletin ID, so it really pays to look at "starts with MS" and also "does not start with MS" - I use both, when searching/filtering, as a way to slice the assessment/analysis task in "half" (not evenly sliced ;).
And also note that some updates (security advisories, hotfixes, rollups) may not fall into the classification you might expect, or, might not be published into the MU/WSUS catalog feed at all..
An example of a unexpected classification, is the recent 2917500, which is classified under "Feature Packs", even though it is an updated set of revoked root certificates (due to yet another compromised root CA cert). [I noted you didn't mention the Feature
Packs classification, you might want to revisit that choice...]
Personally, I'm not yet using ADRs, not because I don't like them, but because our security ops team are being especially painful at the moment and keep changing their mind about stuff, plus, we are undergoing a massive application change cycle and the change/release
    team are hypersensitive just now.
One method I also use, is to periodically run the "updates needed but not deployed" report, as it reveals to me where I need to sync a new product, or have overlooked an update or misunderstood/incorrectly assessed as "we don't need that, or that doesn't
apply to us". it also reveals where I have mucked up and not been diligent about taking a templated approach to deployments, e.g. if I forget to distribute to all DPs or whatever.
I find that even though I might take what I consider to be a very generic approach, others in the forums clearly have different environments/operational models to me, and different needs. For patching, I mainly focus on Windows client OS and Office,
and not really on Windows server OS, since somebody else handles server builds and patching in my org.

  • Examples for all service patterns and communication patterns.

    Hi Friends,
Can anyone of you give me some real life examples for follwoing service/communication patterns?
    1)Synchronous
    2)Asynchronous
    3)Request Confirmation
    4)ReadQuery
    5)Notification
    6)Information
And also if any guidelined on when to use which patter etc...
    Thanks in advance,
    Best Regards,
    Ujwal

    Hi,
Suggestion is to refer SAP help for details:
1)Synchronous: when you need realtime response, i.e. you accept order and want to give order number to customer then you will call Sync service.
2)Asynchronous: when you dont need realtime response, i.e. you want to replicate all orders from one system to another system.
3)Request Confirmation: you made a request and system confirm your request. i.e. Order data is supplied and order number is confirmation. Database will be updated.
4)ReadQuery: I guess you are refering to Query/Response pattern, You just want some information. No database will be updated.
5)Notification: It is another form of "QueryResponse" but user action required.
6)Information: It is another form of "QueryRespone" but NO user action required.
Answer following questions to determine which pattern you need.
    Q1. Do you need response?
    Ans: Yes: Sync pattern
            Q1.1: Does any update required?
            Ans: Yes: RequestConfirmation pattern.
            Ans: No: QueryResponse pattern.
    Ans: No
Q1.2 Does user required to take notice of response?
            Ans: Yes:Notification pattern
            Ans: No: Information pattern.
