Excel output file size is large - How to make it small in size?

Hi,
An Excel file out put is too large when I get it from application. If I copy and paste the same content in an excel sheet , the size is too small.
How can I fix this?
Excel output size from application - 12.4 MB - 4500 records
copy paste file size - 827 KB
Oracle EBS 11.5.10.2
BI Publisher Desktop Version - 10.1.3.4.2

BIP generates an XHTML output with mime-type xls and thus Excel is invoked when it is downloaded. XHTML is text and therefore it is lenghty. When you copy and paste it in Excel you save it in binary format and compress.
My suggestion is create an excel template instead of rtf. Not sure if this is possible for EBS (open a ticket with Oracle Support to confirm you can use excel templates in EBS the version you have).

In this way your output will be a truly binary file with size much more smaller.

Take a look at it in notepad or a text viewer... it's just a MIME/HTML file...

This issue is because the Excel output from BI Publisher is MHTML (XML Publisher generates XHTML) not binary .xls.
MHTML and XHTML are more verbose formats than binary .xls.
It will be large because the current Excel output is just an HTML and not compressed like PDF. Please use the workaround (save it as .xls file). This is a known limitation of RTF layout templates.
BI Publisher Enterprise has a new feature True Excel Templates. The layouts generate binary Excel output.

Does anyone know how to make jslider smaller ?
Meaning that the bar is scaled to smaller size, and the height and everything else is smaller.
I try setMaximumsize, setPreferredSize method, but what they do is to perform truncation not rescale them .

Is it possible to make a constraint such that this file size mustn't exceed certain size

In firefox 4 RC, some addons installed suddenly disappear, but checking the profile, some of the missing addons related files are still here, how to make the addons back?

I use firefox 4 form beta 9 to RC (zh) now and there are also firefox 3.6 installed in computer. One day when I open Fx 4 RC, some (actually a lot but not all) of the adoons just disappear. When I check on about:addons page, some addons installed do not appear in the list.
The addons '''REMAINED''' including:
* addons I already used in Fx 3.6 (like webmail notifie , xmarks)
* ''addons only can use in Fx 4'' (like Open Web Apps for Firefox).
The addons '''DISAPPEARED''' including:
* addons I already used in Fx 3.6 (like yoono)
* '' addons installed when using Fx 4'' (like updatescanner, Thumbnail Zoom).
But when I check the profile(by Help > Troubleshooting Information>Open Containing Folder) , some (not sure is it all) of the missing addons related files are still here [lucky], so any one know how to make the missing addons back?
Some more details:
* This happened when i use RC for already a few days and keep on even i restart Fx and windows.
* The bookmarks, history, search engine and even themes and icon setting are still here. [ I only sync bookmarks but not history for both xmarks and firefox sync.]
* This addons are really '''disappeared''' but not disable only!
* This number of addons missed, as i remember, at least 30, should be more than that number bacause some of them are installed but in disable mode.
* I try to install back one of the addons - Stylish, the installed code are still here.
* It is nearly an impossible mission to install every missing addons again, as it really kill my time.

Delete the files extensions.* (extensions.rdf, extensions.cache, extensions.ini, extensions.sqlite) and compatibility.ini in the Firefox [[Profiles|profile folder]] to reset the extensions registry. New files will be created when required.

If you see disabled, not compatible, extensions in "Tools > Add-ons > Extensions" then click the Tools button at the left side of the Search Bar to do a compatibility check.

I scanned color document - how can make them smaller by Distiller

Dear friends,
I scanned documents and saved them as pdf format ....and everything was ok....but now i have many documents and my hard disk is full now because i was scanning documents as color not black & white ( that's my fault I must scan document as black & white ).
now i am thinking to use Acrobat Distiller to make documents smaller .
I opened the document and printed it using distiller but the output still big.
how can I make files smaller ....please help me

Don't fret; it's easy to compress files in Acrobat! Just go to Advanced > PDF Optimizer. Tick Images and reduce the compression quality, making sure JPEG has been selected.

I clicked "full screen" under "view" and don't know how to make it small again.

Hey so here is a tip to avoid it '''in future''': look in front of the Full screen option (or anything that you click upon). In this case it says F11 is the keyboard shortcut. So you'd know how to bring it back or restore it.

How to make a small finance application in oracle?

I am an oracle dba but one of my friend's asked me to make a small finance application for his company which can use small calculation/accounts. I know plsql and some understanding for Forms etc . where should i start? please note that logical design of database is done. Making database and tables etc is not issue for me. The issue is how to design front end and what tools to use?
An other query is. if he can use this application free on oracle or he has to buy some licence from oracle. please note that he is running a very samll charity organization?

Remove blank spaces in excel output file

it is a BOM report and the output is into a excel file.
problem with the excel file output is : i gives blank spaces sometimes after the number and sometimes before the number...
so, how can i remove those blank spaces for the values.
ive nearly 15 columns having values in each column.
so, how to get rid of blank spaces for these values in the columns in the xls file. is there any fn..module or a command that i can put in the code.

above mentioned FM canbe used to eliminate extra zeros in char field. eg. material number.
MATNR will contain 18 char.-000000000045678925.
toget only 45678925 F.M -conversion exit can be used.
for ur reuirement use SHIFT statement only.

About ABAP and EXCEL output files

Hi experts.
We are using an outbound interface that creates a Excel files with ABAP OO. The main problem of the issue occurs when we call the method to save and close the excel document already created but in windows task manager it stays opened.
Is there any possibility in abap to call some method or statement to close (or kill) the excel application already opened in Windows?

Am not sure but my answer is NO.
Because, ABAP is a different server and windows is a different server.
So you cannot control any applications and actions that are performed out of sap box.

ITunes music files are too large, how can I compress them?

So yeah today was my first day using iTunes and buying some songs. I got 12 songs and it came out to 80.6MB, I really want to know if there is a converter in iTunes for this or if there is a trusted software I can use to convert them?

I think you might be a little confused, html5 documents use the <video> tag to display videos online, .mp4 is one of the video types used by the <video> tag...

Since not all browsers can see .mp4, you also need a .ogg or .webm video so those browsers have something to look at. That secondary source is added to the <video> tag in html5 pages so a browser can latch onto the first source it understands.
To make your video smaller, you would need to reduce its actual pixel dimensions (if they're full screen HD videos, dropping them to 640x480 or similar will reduce the file size) or framerate.
