Exception Handling in BPM:Access to Fault Mex in Exception branch

Hi Guys,
After the synchronous sent (in my case is to SOAP adapter)I intercept the exception.
Unfortunately I cannot send back the fault to the Caller since
the used called function has no exception defined, therefore I need
to handle  exception and do something depending on the error back.
Ant suggestions?
thanks in advance
regards,
Giamma

Actually I map the fault of the web service to a XI SOAP fault.
The mapping back for the fault is called nevertheless I get an error
(Attribute prefix 'xsi' is not mapped to a namespace(:main:, row:1, col:90))
as I written in the following trace.
Did you have any suggestions regarding the issue?
thanks.

  • Exception thrown by RFC To be handled in BPM

    Hi All ,
    I am trying the scenario.
    Http Client -> XI-->BPM -
    > RFC
                <-   <--    <-------
    The whole communication is Synchronous.
    So I  have
    One Outbound  Synchronous Interface
    One Inbound  Synchronous Interface.
Two Abstract  Synchronous Interface for  BPM.
And  4  Abstract Asynchronous Interfaces for the containers which is to used in BPM.
(Two for request and two for response )
For simple Request Response Messages from the RFC my Scenario is working perfectly.
But  I  Introduced  an Exception in RFC, So my Rfc is Throwing an Exception Message which needs to be returned back to Http Client.
Now my problem is only Synchronous interfaces have the option of  fault messages in which the  exception  message can be included. So how do I pass the Exception message to Http Client via BPM , Because Containers require Asynchronous Interfaces and they are not accepting fault messages.
Has Anyone tried this kind of exception handling in BPM,
    Please Help Me.
    Yomesh.

    Hi Saravana,
first of all thanks for ur reply,
In my scenario there are two reciever systems(SAP and JDE) and call to both the systems is synchronous. I am merging the responses from both systems into one using BPM. Thats why I needed BPM.
Now About exception handling that is required because if response from one system is not there then also the BPM process should not terminate .It should give the output from other system and an error message for first one to the HTTP client.
I think now the scenario is clear for you,
Please see if you can help me with that.
    Thanks,
    Yomesh

  • Exception handling without BPM

    Hello,
I have done exception handling with BPM.
i.e. when there exception comes in mapping I have use Block  Exception Handler.
Can this be done without BPM.

  • Exception handling in BPM and ABAP mapping

    Hello all,
We have a BPM with this structure:
    . REC (receiver)
    . <begin BLOCK1>
      . TRANSFORMATION1 (Abap Mapping)
      . <begin EXCEPT> (exception branch)
        . CONTROL (Cancel Process)
    . <end EXCEPT>
    . <end BLOCK1>
The same exception is assigned to the block; to the mapping and to exception branch.
The problem is that, when in the Abap Mapping the exception CX_MAPPING_FAULT is raised, the exception branch seems to be ignored and so, the BPM doesn't finish.
This problem only occurs in some of ours BPMs, because the same thing, when done in other BPMs, works fine.
I know i can change the BPM to turn around this problem, but i would very much like to know the solution to this.
Please, help us with this posting.
    thanks in advance

    Hi again,
We are in SP19, witch invalidates the note 921757 listed.
Also, i made an abap mapping witch only raises the exception. So i think it is not an ABAP error.
Also the XML seems to be correct, because this is a duplicates check routine. A message (with the same data) already entered previously (we trying to avoid another entry).
In the trace analysis for the message, it is stated that the exception has occurred:

  • How can we handle Exception Branch in BPM effectively

    Hi,
I want to capture errors occurred in PM during runtime by using special "Exception Branch".
For example If i define exception branch for one black then any step within that block thrown error then automatically it calls that corresponding exception branch within that block. Now i want to identify which step within that block has thrown error and what is the error. How can i achieve this?
    Thanks and Regards,

  • Fault message handling in BPM

    Hi again xi fighters
I created a business process with a synchronous sending step. I defined all interfaces and implemented also an own fault message type within the synchronous abstract interface. If the used RFC got the correct data the sync. sending step worked proper and also the business process worked fine. If I providing wrong data to the RFC to force him to throw an exception the Business process received the fault message. Then I just want to send the received fault message asynchronously to a file adapter within the defined exception branch. And now the question no-one answered in several discussion threads ;-<
How can I send the message? I am not able to implement a new variable in the container for the fault message type. Any advises here?????
Please help me, before I got inshane of SAP ;->>

    Hi everybody
any ideas, or is the question not clear. Please have a look and let me know you exlperience!
    Regards Oliver

    Hi Oliver,
how do you know, that is impossible to read the content of the fault message in the exception branch? Did someone from SAP say that? For days I read all the notes, blogs, help,.. and didn't find an answer.
    It should work.
    1. I have an integration process in XI sending a sync message to R3.
    - OK
    2. In the generated proxy class I raise an exception of the generated exception proxy class.
    - OK
    3. The exception message is shown in the message monitoring, containing also all our customer-data.
    - OK
    4. The integration process in XI activates the correct exception branch.
    - OK
Missing: How do I get a grip on the data in the error message?

  • Not handled by BPM exception

Hi guys, I got a question that hopefully you experts can help me. I got a scenario and using BPM like this: HTTP --> XI --> SAP --> XI --> ORACLE Storedprocedure.
For each XI communicating with 3rd party (HTTP, SAP, ORACLE) , i'm using synchronous call. For each those synchcronous call in BPM, i also already provide an exception branch. The problem is, when there is an exception occurs when calling the ORACLE storeprocedure (see error below), it doesn't go to my exception branch. Anybody know why?
    the Error is:
    <SAP:Error xmlns:SAP="http://sap.com/xi/XI/Message/30" xmlns:SOAP="http://schemas.xmlsoap.org/soap/envelope/" SOAP:mustUnderstand="1">
      <SAP:Category>XIAdapterFramework</SAP:Category>
      <SAP:Code area="MESSAGE">GENERAL</SAP:Code>
      <SAP:P1 />
      <SAP:P2 />
      <SAP:P3 />
      <SAP:P4 />

      <SAP:ApplicationFaultMessage namespace="" />
      <SAP:Stack />
      <SAP:Retry>M</SAP:Retry>
      </SAP:Error>

    Hi Made,
    >>>The problem is, when there is an exception occurs when calling the ORACLE storeprocedure (see error below), it doesn't go to my exception branch.
You should build a switch, where you decide by the content of the response, if you go on or jump into a exception branch. Just log a successful answer and a exception, they must have a general difference, may be search for "exception". This difference is to be pointed in X-Path of switch.

  • Exception Handling in BPMs

    Hello,
I guess this topic was already discussed here, but I couldn't find any sufficient answer to my problem.
I have a simple asynchronous send-step in my BPM. I'd like the BPM to move into an exception branch if the send step fails due to a sending error (e.g. the target url is not correct). But unfortunately in case of such a sending error the BPM ignores the exception branch and continues the normal path. I have no Idea why it does not work properly.
    Thx for ideas in advance.
    Regards.
    Oliver.

    hi,
did you specify the use of exception in your send step?
or did you only define it in the block step?
have a look at this example:

  • Step repeated in Exception branch requires exception handler, why?

I have a BPM Integration process with a sync send step calling a RFC. Any system errors and application errors are handled by an exception branch where I send an alert as then re-do the send step (so that it will fail but allow me to restart from that point after fixing the issue). The problem I am having is that in this send step, since it is mandatory to have an exception handler for application errors (defined fault message RFC.Exception), what do I enter for exception handler in this send step which is itself in an exception branch? I do not want to handle the exception this second time since I want this step to fail and process stops here to be able to restart manually later.

    Hi,
I am not sure, how you will restart the step manually? Because once there is an error in the sync send, the message will turn to "Cancelled" status. You cannot restart this message.
Now, for the second send step in the exception block you will not be able to choose the same exception block in the exception handler field. But for some reason if this send also fails then you cannot restart the process manually - same reason i mentioned above. It will fail as you intended it to do so.

  • Getting Dynamic Error Text for Error Handling in BPM

    Hello,
is there any way to get the error message or further details on an exception handler in BPM? I would like to pass the detailed error description of the error that has happened in BPM to an alert using a separate Alert container variable.

  • Catch mapping error message in BPM Exception branch

    Hi dudes,
Does anyone know how to catch the mapping runtime error message into a BPM exception branch? I know how to create an exception branch and how to trigger it, but I wonder whether it's possible to pass the mapping error message as shown in SXI_MONITOR (i.e. 'Cannot create target element XXXXX. Values missing in queue context').
Otherwise, everytime my BPM fails I will have to take the payload and run the mapping test in order to find out the reason of the error.
    Many thanks in advance!
    Paco

    Thanks,
My problem is not about handling exception in BPM, but getting the mapping error description and then passing it to the exception branch.
I can see in the workflow log that this info is contained into the Exception container EXCEPTIONS[2] / T100MSG:
    Message Class: SAI_MAPPING
    Message Number: 217
    Message Type: E
    Message Variable: com/sap/xi/tf/_<MM name>
    Message Variable: com.sap.aii.mappingtool.tf7.IllegalInstanceExcepti
Message Variable: on: Cannot create target element /ns1:<path/field>.Message Variable: Values~
The text in bold is the one I am interested in to be get and mapped into the exception branch.

  • Error Handling in BPM - Send Step

    Hello,
I would like to implement the following two error handlers using BPM:
    1. There is a send step which sends a message to an HTTP receiver. If the HTTP server is down I would like to add 3 retries and just in case after the third retry fails there should be an error Email sent. So I am wondering whether a communication error (which happens in the HTTP receiver communication channel) is delivered back to the process engine so that it can be handled using BPM.
    2. I also need to apply a validation using XML schema. So if validation fails the error should also be returned to the process engine so that it can be handled in the integration process.
Are those two requirement possible as described (returning communication and validation errors)? Or do I have to follow another approach?
    Thank you very much!

    Hi Florian,
    >>2. When I activate transport acknowledgement and there is an error in XML validation outbound channel request I get an system error acknowledgement back however the error branch is NOT taken either!
Correct send step using transport acknowledgment will check whether the message was transmitted or not
    Check this link http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw04s/helpdata/EN/43/65ce41ae343e2be10000000a1553f6/content.htm
    >>3. And NOW it gets interesting: When I simulate step 2 again an cancel the error message afterwards then the error branch is taken! Not very useful in my opinion if error messages have to be canceled first. The error branch seems to be pretty useless for me in case of asynchronous send steps.
Again when you cancelled the message it was not received successfully by the receiver system and hence it raised exception (as mentioned in the Exception of send step.)
I will suggest you to try using Application Acknowledgment in send step. Also If you provide the steps of BPM then it will be more helpful.
Also have a look at this :
Asynchronous send step can raise exception only when
    1. Thrown when a permanent system error occurs:
    a. In the case of an asynchronous send step, the exception will only be triggered if an error occurs during the transfer to the pipeline. Errors that occur during mapping in the pipeline, do not trigger an exception.
b . In the case of a synchronous send step, the exception is also triggered by permanent system errors that occur in the pipeline or while transporting the message to or from the pipeline.

  • Bpm exception branch not triggerd

    Hello,
I have defined an exception + corresponding exception branch in my bpm block.
In my bpm processing steps I have assigned the above mentioned exception as system exception.
My problem is that if one of my processing steps fails, the exception seems not to be triggered.
For example I have a mapping step that fails, but the bpm simply continues the next processing step instead of jumping to the exception branch.
I seem to be missing something, any ideas?
    Thanks
    Matthias
P.S.: We are on PI 7.11 patch level 6.

    1) Open your BPM in ESR and do a check on it...press F7...check if you get any warning messages.
    2) Try to delete the BPM instances from SWWL transaction and then again test
    3) there is a note for this problem (1086654) but it is limited till PI7.1
I have defined an exception + corresponding exception branch in my bpm block.
You should have included the Exception handler in the Exception Branch, Transformation Step.

  • Alerts and Error handling in BPM Async/Sync Bridge

    Hello All,
I am developing an Async/Sync Bridge in BPM for sending a request from ECC webservice asychronously to a front end application synchronously using BPM Async/Sync Bridge. I get a response from the front end to PI and stays there.
It wont be send back to ECC. What are the possibilities of error handling required in this type of scenario.
    Thanks
    Deno

. I get a response from the front end to PI and stays there.
Then it should mean that the BPM design is faulty...did you have a send step at the end which closes the Async-Sync Bridge by sending the message to original sender?
In SXMB_MONI --> For BPM message processing there will be a link called PE...click it...check the graphic workflow...see till where the message has processed.
    error handling
include your Sync send step whithin a Block....this block will have an Exception Branch....in this exception branch you can have your Exception handling logic...like raise alert, cancel process etc.

    Abhishek.

  • BPM not entering exception branch

    Hi,
In BPM I have a timeout problem. I am calling asynchronously a JDBC receiver inside my BPM. This step is in a block. And I put there an exception and an exception branch. Now when my jdbc failes (in RWB I see the error) my bpm still continues without entering exception branch. After that I set the Acknowledgment in the sender step of the JDBC to Transport. This time it starts to wait and again doesn't enters the exception branch.
How can I get that the process enters the exception branch?
    Thanks.

In the case of an asynchronous send step, the exception will only be triggered if an error occurs during the transfer to
the pipeline. Errors that occur during mapping in the pipeline, do not trigger an exception.
Your requirement is to catch an exception that may occur while sending to the DB from the Channel....and for this you have set Acknowledgement to Transport and used an Exception Branch.
Now in the Block enclosing your Send Step you have to first put a Deadline Branch....this deadline Branch will wait for the entire retry interval of your Channel.....in this Deadline Branch you have to put a Control Step which will Throw Exception
Now this exception will be caught by the Exception Branch....then in the Exception Branch have your Exception Handler.....this is how we design the BPM when we have to catch the exception from an Async Send step.
Be it Deadline Branch or Wait step....the minimum time-interval is 1 min!
    Regards,
    Abhishek.
