Exceptional Aggregation Option at Query Level in BW 3.5 Query Designer

Hi all,
I want to use Exceptional aggregation with reference char 0CALDAY,on Formula keyfigure in the Query designer(BW3.5).
But I am not getting that option when I went into Properties of that Keyfigure.So please Suggest me where I will Find that Exceptional Aggregation option & Ref.Char at the Query level.

Hi
In the Key Figure Properties dialog box, choose Enhance >>. The Aggregation Behavior field is added to the dialog box.
You can make settings for the aggregation of the calculated key figure and the time that the calculated key figure is calculated here. Depending on the complexity of the formula, you can select various settings in the enhanced properties of the calculated key figure. The following types of calculated key figures with the corresponding formula complexity are available:

KF aggregation/exception aggregation options

Hi
There is one KF that has defined as
1)aggregation option SUM ,
2) Exception aggregation option Last Value
3) aggregation Ref char 0CALDAY.
4)cumulative value radio button s option is on in Cumulative/Noncumulative values option.
These options can be found in KF declaration in the second Tab.
I understand that from the query point of the KF will display last value/given calday. What is the use of aggregation option SUM (option 1 above)? can you give me one example please.
also one more question what is the use of Ncum Value with Ncum Value change?

Hi,
Here you have specified that aggregation type should be 'last value' for reference characteristic CALDAY. For all other characteristics, it shoule be SUM. That mean if calday is part of query, then KF will have Last value for CALDAY. If calday is not part of query, then it will be summation.
For ex, lets assume that we have calday, cost center as characteristics and head count as keyfigure. When you have both calday and cost center in your query, then it is going to display last value of KF head count in the result, which is practical.
if you have only cost center in your query, then head count value will be sum for that particular cost center. We might have many sales offices in a cost center, so head count will get aggregated for all sales offices under cost center.

Query Performance with Exception aggregation

Hello,
My Query Keyfigures has exception aggregation on order line level as per requirement.
Currently cube holds 5M of records, when we run query its running more than 30min.
We cont remove exception aggregation.
Cube is alredy modeled correctly and we dont want to use the cache.
Does anybody can please advice if there is any other better approach to improve query performance with exception agg?

Hi,
We have the same problem and raised an OSS ticket. They replied us with the note 1257455 which offers all ways of improving performance in such cases. I guess there s nothing else to do, but to precalculate this exception aggregated formula in data model via transformations or ABAP.
By the way, cache can not help you in this case since exc. agg. is calculated after cache retrieval.

Exception Aggregation -selection

I need to use Exception Aggregation option in a selection but it seems to be set to 'Use Standard Aggregation' and disabled for changes.
I tried creating new selection to see if it works but its not.How can I use Exception Aggregation option here at selection level?

I made new formula and put my keyfigure in it and then choose 'Exception Aggregation'.But the problem is I am unable to create selection on this new formula.
When you are trying to create selection,it only shows the characteristics and keyfigures in cube but not formulas created.
Do you see any solution? or any other approach to solve the problem ?

Exceptional aggregation.

Hi Experts I have made exceptional aggregation to KF 0DEB_CRE_LC with 0FISCPER.
But in query run time it is saying to do establish Fiscal year variant to that Key figure.
This settings whare I have to do.
Please help me in details.

Hi Raghav,
We will not do settings for fiscper in BI .
We will extract this from source system, by extracting(transfering from R/3) "transfer gloabal settings".
you can check this in TX:OB29(IN SOURCE SYSTEM)
If you have authorization for TX: OB37 you can fiscal varinat which is assigned to your comp code.

Exception Aggregation takes a lot of time

Hello, guys!
I'm having problems with exception aggregation for some of my key figures in BEX Query Designer.
Well, they are working properly (Summation and Counting), but it takes up to ten minutes for them to calculate, and this is not acceptable for both me and my client.
Without those Exception Aggregations, query runs in a seconds.
Do you know any way to avoid those problems? Maybe it is possible to do something on BW side?
I'd appreciate any advise on this.

Nikita,Exception aggregation definitely takes a toll on the performance.There might be a situation where it is aggregation huge number of records with the unique combination of reference characteristic.
You can either try to filter out the data as much as possible after analyzing the data in cube.
Also i can suggest to do a close health check up of your cube with the help of program
SAP_INFOCUBE_DESIGNS

Exceptional aggregation on Non *** KF - Aggregation issue in the Query

Hi Gurus,
Can anyone tell me a solution for the below scenario. I am using BW 3.5 front end.
I have a non cumulative KF coming from my Stock cube and Pricing KF coming from my
Pricing Cube.(Both the cubes are in Multiprovider and my Query is on top of it).
I want to multiply both the KF's to get WSL Value CKF but my query is not at the material level
it is at the Plant level.
So it is behaving like this: for Eg: ( Remember my Qty is Non-*** KF)
               QTY PRC
P1 M1      10     50
P1 M2       0     25
P1 M3      5      20
My WSL val should be 600 but it is giving me 15 * 95 which is way too high.
I have tried out all options of storing the QTY and PRC in two separate CKF and setting the aggregation
as before aggregation and then multiplying them but it din't work.
I also tried to use Exceptional Aggregation but we don't have option of ' TOTAL' as we have in BI 7.0
front end here.
So any other ideas guys. Any responses would be appreciated.

I dont think you are able to solve this issue on the query level
This type of calculation should be done before agregation and this feature doesnt exist in BI 7.0 any longer. Any kind of exceptional aggregation wont help here
It should be be done either through virtual KF (see below ) or use stock snapshot approach
Key figure QTY*PRC should be virtual key figure. In this case U just need to one cbe (stock quantity) and pick up PRC on the query run time
QTY PRC
P1 M1 10 50
P1 M2 0 25
P1 M3 5 20

Aggregation at Query level

Hi,
Does the aggregation at query level will not work in BI7.
As i have a key figure with aggregation type summation in backend,there were some similar records when tried to set aggregation at query level it is not working summing the key figures.
Any suggestions.

Exception Condition "Table_not_Exist" raised in query Level.

I have a Hirarchy data in my Object level as below

->-> X001 (Values or at this level)
I have created a variable on this object in the query level ( Entry is Optional) and executing the query.then I am getting the error mesage Exception Condition "Table_not_Exist" raised.
If I am putting the Variable Value as x* then query is displaying values properly .If i am not giving any values then error is coming. and without variable also executing but values in the output showing X001 lvel.
So plz get back to me with the solution.

Exceptional Aggregation in Query Designer

Hello Gurus,
we have an existing Report at the Material Level on the InfoCube.
Each Material may have multiple POs and we are having multiple
records for each PO varying the date. Now the user want to view
only the record latest changed Record at the PO level
and Sum of all the records at the Material Level.
For this i have created a CKF using the Exception Aggregation
as Maximum for the 0calday. But client want the Report at Material Level
he dont want the PO's details. When i remove the PO from the report
it gives the result for only the latest PO not all the PO for that Material.
For Example we are having below records in the cube.
PO             Material     Calday       Qty         Price
101            ABC          1/12           100         10
101            ABC          2/12            100         10
101            ABC          3/12            100         11
102            ABC          4/12           100         10
104            ABC          5/12            100         10
103            ABC          7/12            100         11
I am getting the result with PO in Rows as Below
PO             Material     Calday       Qty         Price
101            ABC          3/12            100         11
102            ABC          4/12           100         10
104            ABC          5/12            100         10
103            ABC          7/12            100         11
When I remove the PO's From the Rows then it will display
as below i am placing the calday for under standing the
question actually it is not present in the output of the below report only.

Which is not currect I have to get the Result as
Material            Qty         Price
    ABC              500         42
My Concerns:
!. Kindly let me know if it is possible and what are the
other things that i need to consider.
2. Did it will impact the performance.

But I think, it should be

right?

Can you please try below steps and let me know whether it is working as expected or not
Create a basic Key figure for calday and include it in your InfoCube. In the transformation, assign it to same fileld which is a source of calday.
In query, Create a calculated key figure based on calday key figure with exception aggr as last value and reference characteristics as PO.

Query issue with exception aggregation

Dear all,
I have to solve the following reporting issue with BEx:
Cube Structure:
Cube A:
Characteristics: Company Code, Article, Distribution Channel, Customer, FiscalYear/Period
Key-Figures: Sales Val., Sales Qty.
Cube B:
Characteristics: Company Code, Article, FiscalYear/Period
Key-Figures: COGS
I simply want to multiply: Sales Qty@COGS = NODIM(Sales Qty) * COGS,
but this calculation should be valid for all characteristics of my cube A, even if I do not have them available in Cube B (like Customer and Distribution Channel). Additionally the calculated totals of my characteristics must be correct so that I can apply in second step a Margin Calculation: Sales Val. - Sales Qty@COGS which is valid on single level, as well as on total level.
I started to setup calculated key-figures
COGS1 = NODIM(Sales Qty) * COGS with Exception aggregation TOTAL by Company Code
COGS2 = COGS1 with Exception Aggregation TOTAL by Article
and this worked fine for both characteristics. If I use COGS2 in my report I get correct figures in a drilldown by Company Code and Article.
I enhanced the calculation by
COGS3 = COGS2 with Exception Aggregation TOTAL by Distribution Channel, but the result in this case is 0. I guess the result is 0, as the characteristic Distribution Channel is not availble in Cube B.
Any ideas how to solve this? Is there probably a different (more elegant) approach, as I fear that having all the exception aggregations my query runtime/ressource consumption will be awful.

You should define a new selection for COGS having Constant Selection on DC as defined in following link for PRICE with CUSTOMER.

How to display top Position Level using conditions / Exception Aggregation

Hello,
I have the following problem where I need to list out the row with the highest POSITION LEVEL (with reference to BUSINESS PARTNER). I have tried out all possibilities including Conditions and Exception Aggregation (MAX) but nothing seems to work. Conditions work to an extent i.e. it shows the top position level but unfortunately for the entire query result i.e. only one row is displayed in the result (the first row to satisfy the condition) instead of all the rows for each Business Partner. POSITION LEVEL is a KEY FIGURE value. It also exists as a CHARACTERISTIC under a diferent name in the cube. How can I solve this? Pls help.

Hi Sebastian,
I thought you need to display all the records with the highest position level at top. But now I realize your requirement.
It should only display only the maximum position level for each level.
You can try using the Condition for the position level KF, with Top N operator and value = '1'
And then go to char assignement tab in the exception and select Most Detail Chars along Rows/Individual Chars. and combinations for the required combination of Chars.

Query Problem With Exception Aggregation

Hello,
         I have two I/O 0Customer and 0Cont_Acct and also I have a Infoset made out of both. Here is the problem i am trying to solve,
I want to figure out the customers who has more than five contract accounts associated with each customer number.
Here is the solution I approached....
    1) Created a formula variable counter on the KF # of data records (which is provided in the Infoset automatically ) with exception aggregation total while referencing the contract acct I/O.
   2) Kept my customer # and Contract acct on my rows area.
The results I am getting is less than satisfying. I am expecting   this output below.

Exception Aggregation or Avg Inventory

Hi,
While I am doing Inventory Development, got some issues in reporting. Below is my reporting info.
Chars in rowsr: CompCode, Sector(Nav attribute to plan), Calmonth.
1. We get Closing Inventory in runtime ( 0valstockval )
2. Turnover (Just a KF)
3. Avg Inventory is a moving avg of Closing Inventory
4. Ratio = Turnover / Avg Inventory.
Problem in getting Moving avg in Sector Level. If I use moving avg option in Calculation tab, It is working till the end of the report not breaking at Sector level. If I use exception aggregation, its not working and also that will calculate only Avg not a moving avg.
So how to get avg inventory and Ratio values.
If you give me solution in workbook also ..it ll be fine ..

Create one original query
and another view of the original query with the navigation state for sector level.
If you embed both in workbook, will it be OK?
The roundabout is bit cumbersome. You need to go for table interface or macros.

Exception Aggregation on a Formula Variable?

I need to create an exception aggregation on a formula variable, but the properties dialog box of the calculated key figure doesn't have the options of exception aggregation.
Only field available is "Time of aggregation" and I don't want to use that because (1) it is not working properly and (2) it is obsolete functionality.
Do you know how I can obtain exception aggregation on a CKF containing a formula variable?

I believe you are using 3.x.
Please mention the version of BW in the problem statement.
If you dont want to use exception aggregation in the query the second option is setting this property in the backend for the keyfigure. But I believe that you are trying to set this for the CKF, so I dont see any other option to generate exception aggregation.
I would like to comment on your reasons why you dont wnat to usee the exception aggregation.
1. It is not working: If it not working, you should contact SAP for this. Exception aggregation is 20% heart of any query and it is very rarely used things in reporting.
2. It is obsolete: I am not sure, if this is correct. There are many industries where you cannot built certain reports without exception aggregation. The simplest report of sales where you are asked to find the rate of the material from Total Sale and Quantity at aggregation level can not be created without exception aggregation. So this option is and will never obsolete.
Please try using before aggregation.
