Exchange 2010 HTML Signature via Transport Rule

We had a request to create a custom signature for our organization. I have this working via a transport rule in Exchange 2010. It works great for messages coming from a client such as Outlook or OWA.. but when a message originates from an Iphone or Android Device it does not work.
Is it possible to make the iPhone send its email as HTML by default? Or has anyone ran into this and found a solution.
Thanks

I can't find a clean answer for you.
You might use the Set-TransportRule cmdlet and one of the exception clauses to look for something in the header.  I looked at an ActiveSync-generated header from my Droid (I don't have an iPhone to try this out on) and I see this:
Message-ID: [email protected]
The clause:
-ExceptIfHeaderMatchesPatterns "Message-ID:\s(\S|\s)*email.android.com"
should exclude messages sent from Droids.  Of course, I can't say that it'll exclude all of them so you'll have to experiment and use trial and error.

You may need to experiment with the rule because I haven't tested it.

  • Renew SSL Certificate for for two Exchange 2010 Server and the new rules.

I find DigitCert's website always helpful with cert questions. They've got a pretty helpful page here: https://www.digicert.com/internal-names.htmIt looks like they've got a tool for Exchange, but I've not used it myself, so can't say if it works or how well: https://www.digicert.com/internal-domain-name-tool.htmI bet Microsoft have something on their website too that helps with this sort of question.I'd say you register a completely new domain and use that for public facing and internal servers. Or you could just create a sub domain of an existing one, i.e. subdomain.mydomain.com and use that, i.e. public_exchange.subdomain.mydomain.com and internal_exchange.subdomain.mydomain.com.

    Hi there ,
My exchange 2010 Server Certificate is about to expire and i am going to renew it but according to the new rules for SSL Certificate Issuing we can not include our Local Servers Names and Local FQDN such as myserver.contoso.local, my issue is that i have 2 exchange servers one is internet-facing Server (where the certificate is initiated and installed) and one is non-internet-facing Exchange server.
if i am going to renew my certificate with public only name, I have to create a split Domain that reflects my external links to the internal Users, what shall i do for the non-internet-facing server? do i need to create another record in my split DNS Server and add it to my Certificate Request ?

  • Moderation via Transport Rule and multiple Arbitration mailboxes

    Hello,
when using moderation using a Transport Rule (Transport Rule Action "forward the message to addresses for moderation") it is possible to moderate messages sent to recipients outside the exchange organization (Transport
Rule Predicate "Sent to Users Outside The Organization"). This all works perfect so far using a single arbitration mailbox.
Now I would like to add additional arbitration mailboxes for load balancing purposes. As far as I understand, different arbitration mailboxes can configured on the recipients objects which are moderated using the set-<MailEnabledObject> -ArbitrationMailbox
    'XYZ'
Now, for the described case above where the recipients are external (internet) and not available within the directory, is there a way to use multiple Arbitration mailboxes anyway and if yes, how ?
Any feedback welcome. Thanks in advance

  • Exchange 2010 - Email signature setup with Transport Rule - Want to disable the rule for iOS devices

So we decided to have a company wide email signature which pulls user info from AD to fill in the HTML template. What I have found out is that iOS devices send email as plain text which displays the HTML content with strings of text in emails send from
those devices. The only way I have found to make this work is have the user keep the default "Send from my iPhone" signature and exclude the rule based on that text in the body. Is there a cleaner option in case our users decide to change their default
    signature on their iOS devices?

  • Exchange 2010 - missing mails moved by rules / strange problem

    Hello,
one of our users has a pretty strange problem.
First of all, he has 12 rules (11 server-sided plus default for removing categories) and a HUGE folder-tree for about 1.5 years.
    His tree looks like:
    Inbox
    -A
    --1
    --2
    ---a
    ---b
    --3 Newsletter
    --4
    -B
    --1
    --2
    --3 Newsletter
    --4
...and so on for 192 folders
    Other Stuff
    -A
    --1
    --2
... and so on for 80 folders
Since this week, he complains about missing mails.
While investigating this problem, everything looks fine at first. Mails are stored to his mailbox successfully.
Later we found out, that he has rules to move incoming mails to his "--3 Newsletter" folders depending on sender (and no further processing) and was looking for exactly those mails.
But the mails were not visible in the target folder and neither in the inbox folder.
Using the search function on inbox, I was not able to find the mails. After checking the box for all subfolders, the mail was found. Hovering the mail I was told, that it is in the target folder - where for sure it wasn't.
Opening the mail from the search result and clicking on [File], "Inbox" was displayed as the current folder.
After re-running the matching rule, the mails were visible in the target folder. This worked for yesterday. New mails were moved successfully.
And today, we have the very same problem again. And again, I can quick-fix it by re-running the rules.
As I can see and "fix" this on his machine and on my admin machine, this can't be any local problem.
Any hints or solutions for that?

Outlook on his machine is configured with cache-mode, Outlook on my admin machine is configured for online-mode only

  • Transport Rule and Journaling rule query

HI I am using Exchange 2010
i am using transport rule and journaling agent in my setup.
i would like to know when both agents applied to an user which agent applied first transport or journaling?
    Ex:
On server, I have created n Transport Rule policy for an user to to move all incoming mails deleted items for the same user i have created journaling policy to move all incoming mails journaled.
    which one will get apply?
    Thanks

    Hi  chandru CT
    Thank you for your question
The transport rule will be applied firstly.
The difference between transport rule and journaling role is that transport rule make the original mail BCC to someone by mail. But  Journaling role make the original mail send to someone by attachment .

  • Prevent Internal Auto forwarding with Exchange 2010

I have a client that wants me to block one part of the company from using Outlook to Automatically Forward to a seperate part.  They are allowed to forward mails manually but not in an uncontrolled automatic maner.
I'm familiar with controlling Auto Forward to the Internet but am struggling to see how I could meet their requirements.  Any suggestions welcomed.
    Thanks
    Dave

    Hi Dave,
when you want to prevent Internal Auto forwarding in Exchange 2010, you can use transport rule to achieve the goal:
This is I created rule, when message type is “Auto-forward” will send message (#550 5.7.123 cannot auto-forward) to the user (who has sat auto-forward)
    Apply rule to messages
If the message type is ‘Auto-forward’
(if the message type is Message Type)
Send ‘cannot auto-forward’ to sender with ‘5.7.123’
(send rejection message to sender with enhanced status code)

  • Upgrading from Exchange 2003 Bridgehead servers to Exchange 2010 Transport Hub servers for routing SMTP only

Our company moved from on-premises Exchange 2003 to Office365 and only have 4 Exchange 2003 servers on-prem that we use for Routing email from application servers to Office365. We need to migrate these servers to Exchange 2010 then to Exchange 2013 and
only route email only. Is it possible to upgrade to Exchange 2010 by installing the transport Hub & Mailbox server options only? Our OAB and EWS services come from the CAS servers located on Office365 so we should not need a CAS server to set up Transport
rules or route mail would we? Any assistance with this would be greatly appreciated! - Thanks, DWB
    Dave

Since it is not internet facing we will not have to worry about configuring an Internet Domain Name when installing the first server, correct? in my planning I was going to
install the Exchange 2010 CAS/Mailbox/Transport Hub roles on one server, then upgrade it to Exchange 2013. Once this is completed I'll then install the 2 mailbox role servers in one Datacenter, and 3 more in our DRP DC. If something happens to the
primary Datacenter I would want it to fail over to the other site. For this I would have to install another CAS/mailbox server in the secondary DC. Would this plan sound about right? Since we moved to Office365 in 2010 I have not had a chance to deal with
actual servers except for the Exchange 2003 servers we still have on-premises. Each of these are located in 4 Regional offices along with single Windows 2008 R2 servers using only the IIS SMTP service for routing mail from on-prem application servers
and print/scanners which email back to the users. The plan is to move to a routing system which will provide both MTA and redundancy if one has an issue.

  • Mail Control - Transport Rule Predicate "RecipientAddressContainsWords"

"RecipientAddressContainsWords" uses a Words type predicate property. Below is the explanation of the usage and limitation of the Words type property:
The Words property accepts one string or an array of strings. It's used in all predicates that inspect different parts of a message for specific words or strings.
In Exchange 2010, only instances of the word without a prefix or suffix are matched. For example, if you specify the word "contoso", the rule will fire only if an exact match is found. The following variations where the word appears as a suffix,
a prefix, or between other characters (other than the space character) aren't considered an exact match:
    Acontoso
    Contosoa
    Acontosob
The property isn't case-sensitive. The asterisk (*) is treated as a literal character, and not used as a wildcard character.
This makes me believe that you cannot block domains (or whitelist domains) by using domain.com in the array (or @domain.com), because it will never be an exact match. There will never be spaces on either side of the string.
Is this correct? Is there a better method (predicate) to block or whitelist domains?

    Hi Cross,
According to my knowledge, you don’t have to worry about the words type.
For example, if you want to delete the messages from a domain, you could create a Transport Rule like this:
    Conditions:
    The sender address includes 'Contoso.com'
    Actions:
Delete the message without notifying anyone
By the same token, you could create Transport Rules to block or whitelist domains.

  • Transport Rule does not appear to be working

    hi,
I have an exchange 2013 environment.  i have a requirement to intercept inbound emails from external senders addressed to [email protected] and forward it to a single recipient.
we have an internal distribution list already using [email protected] that has 30 members.
I have setup the following rule
apply this rule if: the recipient is [email protected]  and the sender is:outside of the organization
Do the following:redirect the message to [email protected]
    Priority 0
    Audit : not specified
    mode: enforce
when i send a test email from externally all 30 people still recieve the mail.   i have tried restarting the transport service.  Can anyone please help me as i am struggling to see what might be wrong.
    thanks
    Paul

    Hi paul ,
From your description i came to understand that the E-mails from the external senders addressed to the distribution group [email protected] should have to be redirected to [email protected]
As per my knowledge ,There are two ways to achieve your scenario one is via transport rule and another one is via DL restriction .
    via transport rule
1.If you wanted to check  whether the transport rule is applied to that message or not you should have to do the message tracking first .
2.Then you have to enable the pipeline tracing log for the particular recipient in our exchange organisation . With the help of  that logs you can able to identify what are all the transport rules has applied to the messages received by the that recipient
Note: Pipeline tracing is only for troubleshooting purpose , once you have completed your troubleshooting please turn it off .
    Via DL restriction :
On that particular DL If you go to the option delivery management you can able to set the restrictions .
only senders inside my organization - This is the option where you can restrict who can able send an email to this DL and it would be some of the internal recipients or all the internal recipients .
Senders inside and outside of my organization - This is the option where you can restrict who can able send an email to this DL and it would be some of the internal recipients or all the internal recipients or some of the external recipients
or all the external recipients .
you should have to create a contact in case if you wanted to provide mail sending permission to this DL only for some external recipients
Please reply me if you have any queries .

  • Exchange 2010 AD Site Changes

We have 2 Exchange 2010 servers.  Hub Transport/Mailbox server is at our local office.  CAS server is at a remote data center.  It is all one AD site and all domain controller/DNS servers are in the local office.
We are now adding a domain controller with DNS to the remote data center with the CAS.  This new domain controller will also be the DC for the new AD site that will represent the data center location.
What needs to be done to make sure adding a new AD site doesn't negatively affect Exchange?
IP addresses are not changing.  Is there any problem with the CAS being in a different AD site than the mailbox/hub transport server?

    Hi ,
    Thank you for your question.
What needs to be done to make sure adding a new AD site doesn't negatively affect Exchange?
What is a new AD site?  A new sub-domain or a new BDC?
If it is a sub-domain, by my understanding, it is important for us to make sure the DNS property of IP address point to local AD on Exchange CAS server. then Exchange CAS server will not communicate with new AD on remote site. If it is a BDC, we could add
the IP into the property of “alternate DNS server” on Exchange CAS server. if i have misunderstanding, please be free to let me know.
IP addresses are not changing.  Is there any problem with the CAS being in a different AD site than the mailbox/hub transport server?
A: yes, we could do that, we just make sure all subnets could communicate without ant problem.
If there are any questions regarding this issue, please be free to let me know.
    Best Regard,

  • Outlook 2011 for Mac and SSLv3 on Exchange 2010

I have a few Apple MacBook users with Outlook 2011, and connecting back to my Exchange 2010 server (essentially via OWA). Currently it all works fine.
With the POODLE vulnerability, it is recommended that SSLv3 be disabled in Exchange (at Windows 2008 O/S server level), and instead fall back on TLS. Does

  • Restore exchange 2010 mailbox from database and restore the mailbox to pst file

    Hello,
I'm running exchange 2010Sp2 rollup5 ver2, the mailbox database in question is in a DAG.  The databases are being backed up by commvault.
So, I received a request to restore a couple mailboxes from 10 days ago and export the mailbox to PST file for archiving.
How would you go about the restore.  I'm thinking the database needs to be offline, so I don't mistakenly overwrite my production databases.
Where should backup guy restore the database/log file (completely separate server from my mailbox servers?)
Once database/logs are restored, what is the procedure to make the mailboxes visible
Once the mailboxes are visible, what is best way to restore one to a PST file?
thanks in advance for all your help.

    Hi
For DB Restores with commvault you have to reed the product documantation.
The Database must not be offline.
I would recommend to try the following steps:
    1. Create Recovery DB on Exchange
    http://terenceluk.blogspot.ch/2013/06/restoring-mailbox-from-exchange-2010.html
    2. Restore to this Recvovery DB from Commvault

  • Exchange 2010 invites in ical show with floating timezone and incorrect time

When I receive exchange 2010 invites sent via email as an ics attachment and open them to add them into ical the time zone shows as floating and the event time is incorrect as it doesn't take the time zone into consideration. How can I change the time zone/ time for these events?

Well seems that its sad that no-one from Apple or otherwise knows why Apple Mail and iCal are such junk - but I'll answer for those who might want to know what solves these things.
In a nutshell - I removed my accounts from iCal and Mail - added things thru iCal and had it create the account in Mail automatically (Exchange 2010 has all my mail up online anyways) - and sure enough this fixed things.
Guess doing the Mail separately from iCal doesn't work right. Go figure.

  • HTML Signature Help In Mail

I have created an HTML signature via the methods posted in many places on the internet (Create HTML, Open in Safari, Save as .webarchive, Replace signature file in ~Library/Mail/Signatures folder, Reopen Mail, etc.) and I am still having an issue.
My HTML file works fine in Safari and looks how I want. When I compose a new email, the HTML signature shows up in the message exactly how I'd like. However, when I send the message, the HTML signature no longer appears. It's missing from the message in the Sent Folder and it does not show up as anything in the sender's email program. They don't get a box with a question mark in it, they just don't get anything as a signature. I've sent it to people (and myself) who use Mail, Hotmail, Gmail, and Outlook and the HTML signature doesn't show up on any of them.
Anyone know why it looks great during the composition of the email but just isn't getting sent out?

I've selected that new signature to be used in my emails, and it shows up when I compose a new email. It just doesn't appear when the email is sent, nor is it in the message when you open in from the Sent Folder. Somewhere after hitting "Send Message" it disappears.
