Exchange 2010 SP1 Update Rollup 6 to Exchange 2010 SP3

Hi there,
I am planning to install Exchange 2010 SP3 next week and after reading some of the related comments on this site I got a little worried.
Our current Exchange environment consists of the following:
1 x CAS/HT Server
2 x Mailbox Server (members of a DAG)
The OS of the 3 servers is Windows Server 2008 R2 SP1. All servers are running Exchange 2010 SP1 Update Rollup 6.
The Execution Policies on our Exchange servers are set as follows:
– CAS/HT Server:
  Scope ExecutionPolicy
  MachinePolicy Undefined
  UserPolicy Undefined
  Process Undefined
  CurrentUser Undefined
  LocalMachine Unrestricted
– Mailbox Servers:
  Scope ExecutionPolicy
  MachinePolicy Undefined
  UserPolicy Undefined
  Process Undefined
  CurrentUser Undefined
  LocalMachine RemoteSigned
Please note that we do not have any Group Policies that defined the PowerShell script execution policy.
I would be very grateful if you (or any of the kind readers) could help me with following questions:
1- Do I have to change the execution policy on our Exchange servers before installing SP3? If I have to change a policy, what should I change? And how would you recommend I should do this?
2- After installing SP3 on a server, can I install the latest rollup update on this server before moving to the next server? For example, can I do the following:
  i. Install SP3 followed by RU 5 on the CAS/HT server -> Apply the our custom settings
ii. Install SP3 followed by RU 5 on the first mailbox server
iii. Install SP3 followed by RU 5 on the second mailbox server
Many thanks,
M

Hi Amit,
Many thanks for the swift reply.
That's correct.  We didn't set the Powershell execution policy via Group Policy.  We only configured the execution policy of "LocalMachine" to "Unrestricted" on the CAS/HT server using the "Set-ExecutionPolicy" command on the server.
The mailbox servers' execution policies have not been changed and are set to those values by default.
I must admit, I go event more confused when I read the "http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2668686" and "http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2810617" articles.
But it looks like I shouldn't worry as our current Powershell execution policies shouldn't affect the upgrade. Right?

    I can migrate a mailbox fine from exchange 2010 sp2 update rollup 8 to exchange 2013 sp1 or Cu2.
I was testing today migrating cross forest from 2010 sp2 udpate rollup 8 back to exchange 2010 sp2 but I get the below error.  Is this even possible?  I cannot find any documentation on this scenario yet.

    Hi Steve,
I'm a little confused what you are saying. Here is my understanding:
When you migrate mailboxes from Exchange 2013 back to Exchange 2007, the above error occurs.
If I have misunderstood your concern, please let me know.
For migrating mailboxes back to Exchange 2007, there is a simple and straightforward method. Please use the New-MailboxExportRequest cmdlet to convert all mailboxes into pst files. And then use the Import-Mailbox cmdlet to import all pst files into Exchange
    2007.
    Hope it helps.

  • Error Install Update Rollup 3 Exchange Server 2010 SP2

    Hy Guys,
I have the follow troubble when i try install the Update Rollup 3 Exchange 2010 SP2 on CAS Server. The error is "The user who's currently logged on doesn't have sufficient permissions to install this package. You need at least Exchange Server Administrator
permissions on the current computer to complete the task."
I've checked the permissions of the user which run the installer and those permissiones are OK. The user belong to Domain Admin, Enterprise Admin, Exchange Organization Management groups.
I don't know what else to do. Thanks for your great help.

    Hi Wilmar
Do you have PowerShell execution policy via Group Policy that could be blocking the install? If you right click the file and select "Run as Administrator"?
Can you try running the setup from an elevated command prompt?
Or you can enable logging by executing the patch like this below:
    Rollup3.msp /lxv* c:\Rollup3.log

  • Exchange 2010 SP2, Update Rollup 7

Our setup before we applied Rollup 7:
Exchange 2010, SP2 Update Rollup 6 running on all servers.
    2 Mailbox servers w/ DAG
3 CAS/HUB Servers using a hardware load balancer
No problems prior to the Rollup 7 installation.
The Rollup went fine on 4 out of the 5 Exchange Servers. On the 5th server, however, there are problems. The first time I tried to install RU7 it was about 5 hours in when I cancelled it. So I tried again and the install has been running for 13
hours and it appears to be only about 40% complete. The progress bar has been stuck in the same spot for nearly all of that time. Per an article I found on Susan Bradley site (SBS Diva) I had verified that "Check for publisher's certificate revocation"
was disabled in IE prior to the start of the install.
I have seen Service Packs take a long time in the past and I have Rollup Updates take a long time too, but this is taking a very long time.
Anyone else  observing this issue with this latest Update Rollup for Exch10, SP2?
    Thanks.

When I try to install Exchange 2010 SP3 roll up 7, am getting the below error:

  • Orchestrator 2012 SP1 Update Rollup 2 - Runbooks missing in web console and designer after moving to new folders

I've run across an interesting problem.  After applying SP1 update rollup 2, I decided to re-organize my runbooks by placing them in a new folder naming structure.
I created the new folder structure under the runbook server in the runbook designer.  I then right clicked and moved the runbooks to their new location.  Everything was fine until windows updates were applied (Windows 2012) and the server was restarted.
After the restart, the runbooks are missing from both the designer and the web console.
I saw posts about truncating the Authorization Cache.  I did that (see below) but that has not resolved my issue.
    TRUNCATE TABLE [Microsoft.SystemCenter.Orchestrator.Internal].AuthorizationCache
    EXEC [Microsoft.SystemCenter.Orchestrator.Maintenance].EnqueueRecurrentTask 'ClearAuthorizationCache'
    EXEC [Microsoft.SystemCenter.Orchestrator.Maintenance].EnqueueRecurrentTask 'Statistics'
Not all the runbooks are missing.  Some are visible.  However, if I view the runbooks via SQL by querying Orchestrator.dbo.Policies, I see all of the runbooks. They just all don't show up in the designer.
SELECT * FROM [Orchestrator].[dbo].[POLICIES] Order by Name
The ones that are missing are always the same when the web console or designer is run (designer ran with and without elevated permissions).
Has anyone else seen this behavior?  How do I get the runbooks to show back up in the correct folders?  Or, how can I get them to show up anywhere so I can move them to the appropriate location?
    Thank you
    Ted

    Hi Ted,
    sometimes seen similar.
It's not supported to manipulate the Orchestrator DB with SQL, but I know only to fix it with SQL statements.
    All information below without warranty!
There's a column named Deleted in table Policies. Look with your select statement above if the Runbooks have the deleted flag. If yes, update it to 0.
But, I guess not. I think the previous containing folder has the deleted flag (table folders) and the Runbooks have still this folder as ParentID.
SELECT POLICIES.Name AS RunbookName, FOLDERS.Name AS FolderName, FOLDERS.Deleted AS FolderDeleted
    FROM POLICIES INNER JOIN
    FOLDERS ON POLICIES.ParentID = FOLDERS.UniqueID
WHERE POLICIES.Name = 'Name of one Runbook'
If so, change the deleted flag from the containing Folder:
    UPDATE FOLDERS
    SET Deleted = 0
    FROM POLICIES INNER JOIN
    FOLDERS ON POLICIES.ParentID = FOLDERS.UniqueID
WHERE (POLICIES.Name = 'Name of one Runbook')
after that Restart Management Service and Refresh view in Runbook Designer
    Good luck!

  • SCOM 2012 SP1 Update Rollup 5 - DB and DW SQL script and the Management Packs

    Hi,
    I am applying SCOM 2012 SP1 update rollup 5 from KB article : 2904680.
Step#  4 and 5 from the "Installation Information" sections says to run the SQL queries(UR_Datawarehouse.sql and Update_rollup_mom_db.sql) located at "%SystemDrive%\Program Files\System Center 2012 SP1\Operations
    Manager\Server \SQL Script for Update Rollups\."
But I do not have "System Center 2012 SP1\Operations Manager\Server \SQL Script for Update Rollups\." folder location on  my SCOM Management Servers. Similarly I do not have the MPs given in Step #6.
Can someone please let me know from where else can I get these SQL scripts and the MPs. What if I don't run these SQL scripts. Is that OK?

You will find it on below path%SystemDrive%\Program Files\System Center 2012\Operations Manager\Server \SQL Script for Update Rollups\.
inside system center 2012 folder> search to Server folder and inside it you will find SQL Script

    Hello Everyone,

  • Easiest way to install update rollups for exchnage 2010

    Dear Mates,
i have downloaded the update roll ups from RU 1 to RU 7 for my test environment exchange 2010  and i would like install all the update roll ups in all my exchange servers (8 No's). what is the easy method to install all the RU's in single command, or
batch file or from any scripts, instead of double click on each files (RU's)and giving next next next...etc....it should automatically install the RUS
Guide me , if there is any way to achieve this

    Hi  rush2ramki
    Thank you for your question.
    I agree with Andy.
    Notice:
you can follow the order to update : Client Access server, Hub Transport server, Mailbox server
If you have multiple Active Directory sites and have deployed a Client Access server in the proxy sites that aren't Internet-facing, apply the update rollup to the Internet-facing Client Access servers before you apply the update rollup to the non-Internet-facing
    Client Access servers.
You can refer to the following :
    http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ff637979(v=exchg.141).aspx

  • Exchange 2013 SP1 Readiness Checks: No Exchange 2007 server detected

    Hi there,
We are planning to upgrade our current Exchange 2007 server with the new Exchange 2013 SP1. I have been following Exchange Server Deployment Assistant to assist me with this task. Only schema update (setup /PrepareSchema) had been done so
far. I didn’t run setup /PrepareAD command manually because I wasn’t sure if I need to provide ‘Organisation Name’ with it or not?! I have installed all of the prerequisites as noted in the Microsoft documentation.
Now, I am a bit confuse with the ‘Readiness Checks’ page during graphical user installation of Exchange 2013 SP1 setup on Windows 2012 R2. Windows 2012 R2 server has all available updates applied.
    ===
    Warning:
Setup will prepare the organization for Exchange 2013 by using 'Setup /PrepareAD'. No Exchange 2010 server roles have been detected in this topology. After this operation, you will not be able to install any Exchange 2010 servers.
    For more information, visit: http://technet.microsoft.com/library(EXCHG.150)/ms.exch.setupreadiness.NoE14ServerWarning.aspx
    ===
I get the message why setup wants to run preparation for the Ex2013 with the ‘Setup /PrepareAD’. But, why ‘No Exchange 2010 server role have been detected in this topology’?! Ok, in my case setup doesn’t detect Exchange 2007 server. Is that ok to proceed
with the installation or something else needs to be done first?
    Thanks in advance.

I need Exchange guru advice here please. Since we already have Exchange 2007 SP3 RU 10 in our Windows 2008R2 Active Directory domain here I need to be 100% confident that pushing Exchange 2013 SP1 “Install” will not override our existing Ex2007 environment.
That would be a huge disaster!
Microsoft is saying that: “Microsoft Exchange Server 2013 Setup displayed this warning because
no Exchange Server 2010 or Exchange Server 2007 server roles exist in the organization.”
    http://technet.microsoft.com/library(EXCHG.150)/ms.exch.setupreadiness.NoE14ServerWarning.aspx
Ok, I get the message about if I continue with Exchange Server 2013 installation, I won’t be able to add Exchange 2010 or Exchange 2007 servers to the organization at a future date..., and why would I need to do that anyway?!
Microsoft wording about “some solutions may require the use...” are very confusing since we will require to consider “Coexistence or migration requirements"
Perhaps, before running Exchange 2013 SP1 setup I need to run setup for preparing AD without “Organisation Name” parameter?! Something like this:
    setup /PrepareAD  /IAcceptExchangeServerLicenseTerms

  • SCOM 2012 SP1 Update Rollups

    Hi All,
I am planning to deploy patches on SCOM server. We are on SCOM 2012 SP1 as of now. As you know Microsoft has been released UR1, UR2, UR3, UR4, UR5 and UR6 for SCOM 2012 SP1.
Do I need to deploy each UR one by one on SCOM server or UR6 will have all fixes?
If I go for directly UR6 then does this patch contains all fixes which are available till UR5?

    http://blogs.technet.com/b/server-cloud/archive/2014/04/23/system-center-2012-sp1-ur6-and-system-center-2012-r2-ur2-now-available.aspx
Customers can now download the latest update rollups for both System Center 2012 SP1 and System
Center 2012 R2.  Update rollups provide a cumulative package of fixes for each System Center component and are available from Microsoft Update.  Alternatively, they can be manually downloaded from the Microsoft Update Catalog.

  • Latest Update Rollup for Exchange 2010 SP3

    Hi
Currently we are using RU2 for Exchange 2010 SP3. We are facing an issue with OWA through IE 11 (no support for premium). To correct this issue it's recommended to install RU3. Here we are asking the expert opinion about installing RU7
on all Exchange 2010 servers and whether it makes any different issues or is it enough to install RU3
    Thanks in advance

Personally, if you are going to update the servers, you should apply the latest RU regardless. So I would go with RU7.

  • Calendar not updating in Outlook 2010 but updating on OWA (Ex 2010 with Outlook 2010)

    Hi,
A few users are having this problem including me. There is a room Calendar which was working fine but not anymore. Here what is happening:
User A cannot see the updates in Calendar, if someone has meeting user A cannot see it. User A can only see by visiting OWA
User A create meeting in Room A via OUtlook. User A can see this but not other users. When visit OWA, User A cannot see that meeting.
User A creates meeting in Room A via owa. Everyone can see it.
User A sets outlook in ONLINE mode and now he can see all the updates
So something is going wrong with outlook cache mode that it is not updating calendar or not connecting with calendar. Tried different fixes from internet but not working. Tried to rebuild outlook profile but that works once, but if there is update the same
    problem happens again.

    Hi Hasan,
Since the issue only happens in Outlook cached mode, please check whether “Download Shared folders” is checked in Outlook settings:
    1. Click Account Settings on the File tab.
    2. In the Account Settings dialog box, click the
Email tab, click to select the Exchange account, and then click
    Change.
    3. Click More Settings. On the Advanced tab, check the
Use Cached Exchange Mode and Download Shared Folders check box to have a try, and then click
    OK.
    4. Finish it and restart Outlook.
Then check whether the calendar can be updated in Outlook.
