Exchange 2010 SP3 Update 7 breaks OWA for some IE11 users

I had issues earlier with OWA on some clients running Internet Explorer 11 (as
documented in this thread), and managed to resolve it by disabling compatiblity mode in IE11.
After SP3 Update Rollup 7 the issue came back, and no tinkering with the compatibility mode will solve it.
Have anyone encountered this issue before? The issue only appears on certain machines in their own AD OU as well as own subnets.

Hi,
I haven't heard that Exchange 2010 SP3 Update Rollup 7 has this issue so far. In your case, I would like to verify if you remove all interim updates for Exchange 2010 SP3 before installing Rollup 7. If no, remove it and check the result.
Here is a kb for your reference.

    This Server is an SBS2011.
The update broke nothing on a "normal" 2008R2 with exchange 2010.
Uninstalling RU6 helped but thats obviously not the desired way.
Removing the RenderTimeZoneSelection() call from languageselection.aspx obviously helped but then there is no timezone dropdown displayed anymore. The timezone dropdown is working normaly in other places like ecp. Afaik this error occours only in the languageselection.aspx
file which is displayed for "new" OWA users. (Users without a timezone set)
my workaround was to set the language and timezone for these mailboxes via exchange shell.

  • Exchange 2010 SP3 Update Rollups

    Hi All,
I have a question about installing Update Rollups for Exchange 2010 SP3. After some organizational changes I have to take care of windows updates and our WSUS server. During the last check I found out that there are:
Update Rollup 5,6,7 listed in WSUS for our Exchange which is (CAS, HUB, MB). I've checked also some information about installing Update Rollup but it's not very clear for me. i saw also a problems after installing Update Rollup 6 and also some info from
    blogs.technet.com
The release contains fixes for customer reported issues and previously released security bulletins. Update Rollup 7 is
not considered a security release as it contains no new previously unreleased security bulletins. Customers running
any Service Pack 3 Update Rollup for Exchange Server 2010 can move to Update Rollup 7 directly.
So, what is the best way to do it?
    - Decline old Update Rollups, Install all other security and critical updates from WSUS, reboot the server, install Update Rollup 7, reboot the server?
    Thanks in advance

    Hi kondio
    Thank you for your question.
Service packs and update rollups are part of the servicing strategy for Exchange 2010. They provide an effective and easy-to-use method to distribute Exchange 2010 fixes and modifications. We recommend that you install the latest service pack and update
rollup to keep the product up-to-date.
I suggest you update manually instead of WSUS.
You  can refer to the following link to read about RU:

If there are any questions, please let me know.

    ZAW

Step 1: Close Outlook program and create backup of PST file
Step 2: Now run SCANPST.EXE on copy of your PST and repair
SCANPST.EXE is found in these locations according to different Outlook versions:
    In MS Outlook 2002/XP: C:\Program Files\Common Files\System\MAPI\ \scanpst.exe
    In MS Outlook 2000:C:\Program Files\Common Files\System\MAPI\ \NT\scanpst.exe
    In MS Outlook 97/98:C:\Program Files\Common Files\Windows Messaging\scanpst.exe
Note: Do not use backup option in SCANPST.EXE as you working with a duplicate copy of PST
    file.
Step 3: Then open the command prompt by clicking Start >> Run
Step 4: Paste or type the file path to PST19UP and your PST name: PSTUPG19.EXE-filename.pst
    and press Enter.
Step 5: The command line will resemble: “C:\My Documents\pst19upg.exe”- Outlook.pst.
Step 6: A new copy of the PST file will be created, which is called “filename.psx”.
Step 7: Once you have completed, rename the original PST file.
Step 8: Now at the Command Prompt, type “pst19upg.exe- filename.psx” and press Enter
Step 9: A new password-free PST file will be created from PSX file.
Step 10: Now open your MS Outlook program and open the PST file.

  • Exchange 2010 SP3 Create Dynamic DL for Direct Reports

I am not sure this is possible but if there is a will there is a way I guess.
    System: Exchange 2010 SP3 on Windows Server 2008 R2
I am trying to see if there is a way to create dynamic DLs for Manager(s) direct reports.
Example: Manager has 5 people that report directly to them, is there a way to make an dynamic email distribution list that will poll the direct reports as people leave or hired.
I know I can create one manually but some depts. may have high turnover rates which increase overhead so I am just trying to simplify the process. I of course googled my question but not getting the results I intended.
    Thanks.

    hi,
as from above  i understand you are asking about creating an custom attribute and then referencing them .. if yes please check below command
Get-Mailbox -OrganizationalUnit Sales | Set-Mailbox CustomAttribute1 "SalesOU"Now you can create an e-mail address policy for all recipients that have the CustomAttribute1 property that equals SalesOU, as shown in this example.
    New-EmailAddressPolicy -Name "Sales" -RecipientFilter { CustomAttribute1 -eq "SalesOU"} -EnabledEmailAddressTemplates "SMTP:%s%[email protected] check this.. http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ee423541%28v=exchg.150%29.aspx

  • Exchange 2010 SP3 RU7 system requirements for server 2008

    Exchange 2010 SP3 system requirements list server 2008 SP2 as being a compatible OS.  KB2961522 only lists Windows 7 Professional 64-bit, Windows Server 2008 R2, Windows Server 2008 R2 SP1, Windows Server 2008 R2 Standard, Windows Server 2012.
Does it really support windows 7 but not server 2008 SP2??
    Thanks

    Hi,
Yes, Windows Server 2008 SP2 is supported on Exchange Server 2010 SP3. Windows 7 SP1 is only supported for Exchange management tools, not for Exchange server.
Hope my clarification can be helpful to you.

  • Exchange 2010 SP3 Update Rollup 2 (KB2866475) personal archive issue

I’m wondering if anyone else has run across this issue:  We use the Exchange personal online archives, and after installing the rollup, anyone with full access to someone else’s mailbox had all the personal archive names changed to the
same name.  As an example, if I had full access to Joe’s mailbox, then the name of Joe’s personal archive, as shown on my Outlook 2010, would display “Archive – Paul@company” rather than “Personal Archive – Joe”. Uninstalling the rollup put
everything back to normal.  So, has anyone else seen this?
    Thanks.

    Hi,
Have you checked it via OWA? Is it the same with Outlook 2010?
If the issue doesn’t occur when you use OWA, I recommend you recreate Outlook profile to check the result.
If OWA also has the issue, please make sure whether all users are impacted by the issue.
Here is a related thread below for your reference, but I cannot find related description for the issue that the Update Rollup 2 for Exchange Server 2010 SP3 resolves.

  • Exchange 2010 (SP3 - withn SBS2011) OWA seach not working

I know such issues have been reported many times in the past, but I haven't found any report for SP3 (which actually thought would resolve this for good).
I had the same problem repeatedly with SP1, with SP2, with various rollups, I have tried the various vix solutions (re-touching AD schema, rebuilding the indexes etc.) and indeed they fix the problem... for a while.
    Or until the next update.
Can someone help me reach a more stable solution?
Or is it a common issue that Microsoft actually cannot solve for good???
Right now I have the problem (again) after installing SP3. So I am open to all proposals.

    Hi NLS,
I'm researching the issue and will update it soon.
By the way, for SBS issue, you can also seek the solution in the SBS forum, thanks:

  • Rollup 6 for Exchange 2010 SP3

Does anyone know when Microsoft is going to release either Rollup 6 or a patch for Exchange 2010 SP3? Rollup 3 for SP3 introduced the following issues:
“Some users (not all of them) report that they don't see new emails in their Outlook 2010 box on Shared folders, even though they got the new email message envelope. When they change folder and back to the Inbox the new mail is suddenly visible. Same sort
of "delay" happens when users mark a message for follow-up or try to change a message from unread to read.”
We have installed Rollup 5 but it did not address the issue.
    Thanks

    Hi,
Currently, there is no official document about the release of RU6 for Exchange 2010 SP3. If the RU6 for Exchange 2010 SP3 will be coming, you can find this information in the Exchange Team Blog.

Personally, if you are going to update the servers, you should apply the latest RU regardless. So I would go with RU7.

  • What is the total space Update Rollup 7 For Exchange 2010 SP3 (KB2961522) will take after installation?

    Quick question.
What is the total space Update Rollup 7 For Exchange 2010 SP3 (KB2961522) will take after installation?
    Hasan

    Hi
Your question is a big vague. Extracting the rollup will use some space but you can delete the files afterwards.
Are you concerned about space while installing? If you have adequate space it shouldnt be a problem.
Hope this helps. Please remember to click “Mark as Answer” on the post that helps you, and to click “Unmark as Answer” if a marked post does not actually answer your question. This can be beneficial to other community members reading the thread.
I am asking space after installation, it will definitely install some files so how much space extra space it needed in exchange directory drive.

  • After Exchange 2010 SP3 upgrade, UAG publised OWA is throwing a "You do not have permissions to view this folder or page" error

    Hi,
We have an issue with our OWA page.  We are currently publishing OWA via UAG.
We recently upgraded to Exchange 2010 SP3 and then SP3 Rollup7.  Since the upgrade, we are keep getting the following error after entering our credentials on the login page.  I've tried with every possible browser.
You do not have permissions to view this folder or page
Strangely enough, the mobile phones are sending and receiving emails just fine, the phones use the same OWA link, so it's not an authentication issue, the phones login into the UAG servers with no issues.  I can see this on the Active Sessions screen
    on Web Monitor.
I've attempted to connect to the OWA by bypassing the UAG server, so putting in the local OWA address of one of my Exchange servers, it works... so the OWA page is up and running.
No error logs get generated on Web Monitor when we receive the permission error, I think this is because it's past authentication, it's on the Exchange layer.
Any insight would be helpful?  I'm assuming something changed on the Exchange side after the upgrade.
Just in case, I've upgraded the UAG and TMG servers to the latest SP and Rollup packets.
    UAG > SP4
    TMG > SP2 Rollup 5

I've found a solution; UAG requires Basic Authentication over OWA.  For some reason Integrated Windows Authentication got turned on after the SP3 upgrade.
    http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ee921443.aspx
Turning Integrated Windows Authentication off via the Client Access OWA settings resolved the issue.  Though beware, you
have do this on all your Client Access servers.

  • Outlook 2013 Category view not updating after Exchange 2010 SP3 RU3

After updating to Exchange 2010 SP3 RU3 last night, users who use categories view in Outlook 2013 are complaining that the view does not update. The alert is received in the notification area and the unread message count next to Inbox updates appropriately.
The view can be force updated by switching between All and Unread, by using Reset View, or closing and opening Outlook.  It seems anything that forces a 'redraw' of the view will update it - except for the actual reception of email.  I easily replicated
    this issue.  For reference:
    Exchange 2010 SP3 RU3
    Windows 7 x64 Ent
    Outlook 2013 (15.0.4551.1004) 32-bit
I do see that SP3 RU4 has been released, however the only change listed is a security patch.
    Thank you for any ideas.

    Hi, Everyone –
This has been a known issue for a very long time – we have people at our workplace that are very disappointed since a feature as great as categorizing email (not using tasks) has become broken and has not even been considered to be fixed for
over half a year.  It was not fixed in the updates for Patch Tuesday this week.
I would like to confirm that this is an issue with Outlook 2010 and 2013 when running the latest Exchange 2010 and there is NO FIX
    – I have scoured the internet for a solution – all proposed "textbook" solutions do not work and I am positive that the issue can be recreated; however, everyone from Microsoft does not mention trying to recreate the issue at all.
The workaround of creating a rule to send new emails to a category could break other pre-existing rules and cause more frustration and wasted time for users/IT before and after the issue is fixed.
Please fix this issue sooner than later, as the Categories view is completely broken and unusable at this point in time.
    Regards,
    IT Helper

  • Exchange 2010 SP1 Update Rollup 6 to Exchange 2010 SP3

    Hi there,
I am planning to install Exchange 2010 SP3 next week and after reading some of the related comments on this site I got a little worried.
Our current Exchange environment consists of the following:
    1 x CAS/HT Server
2 x Mailbox Server (members of a DAG)
The OS of the 3 servers is Windows Server 2008 R2 SP1. All servers are running Exchange 2010 SP1 Update Rollup 6.
The Execution Policies on our Exchange servers are set as follows:
    – CAS/HT Server:
      Scope ExecutionPolicy
      MachinePolicy Undefined
      UserPolicy Undefined
      Process Undefined
      CurrentUser Undefined
      LocalMachine Unrestricted
    – Mailbox Servers:
      Scope ExecutionPolicy
      MachinePolicy Undefined
      UserPolicy Undefined
      Process Undefined
      CurrentUser Undefined
      LocalMachine RemoteSigned
Please note that we do not have any Group Policies that defined the PowerShell script execution policy.
I would be very grateful if you (or any of the kind readers) could help me with following questions:
1- Do I have to change the execution policy on our Exchange servers before installing SP3? If I have to change a policy, what should I change? And how would you recommend I should do this?
2- After installing SP3 on a server, can I install the latest rollup update on this server before moving to the next server? For example, can I do the following:
      i. Install SP3 followed by RU 5 on the CAS/HT server -> Apply the our custom settings
ii. Install SP3 followed by RU 5 on the first mailbox server
iii. Install SP3 followed by RU 5 on the second mailbox server
    Many thanks,
    M

    Hi Amit,
Many thanks for the swift reply.
That's correct.  We didn't set the Powershell execution policy via Group Policy.  We only configured the execution policy of "LocalMachine" to "Unrestricted" on the CAS/HT server using the "Set-ExecutionPolicy" command on the server.
The mailbox servers' execution policies have not been changed and are set to those values by default.
I must admit, I go event more confused when I read the "http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2668686" and "http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2810617" articles.
But it looks like I shouldn't worry as our current Powershell execution policies shouldn't affect the upgrade. Right?

  • Exchange 2010 SP3 Rollup Update 6

Our Exchange environment is currently on Exchange 2010 SP3 RU3 and the Forefront Protection 2010 for Exchange server version is 11.0.713.0 (Rollup 3).
We planning to upgrade Exchange servers and install Exchange 2010 SP3 RU6, question which I have is it Mandatory to upgrade the Forefront Protection 2010 for Exchange server version is 11.0.727.0 (Rollup 4) before we install Exchange 2010 SP3 RU6 on the
    Exchange servers.
    Thanks,
    AJ

Thanks Adam for the prompt response and yes I recall these cmdlets to disable and there is a similar cmdlet to enable it. Also after Exchange 2010 SP2 after some RU there is no need to disable FPE before installing RU however it is recommended to disable
    it.
If you refer the comments section mentioned in the blog below it talks about it:-
    http://blogs.technet.com/b/exchange/archive/2014/05/27/released-update-rollup-6-for-exchange-2010-service-pack-3.aspx
If you read the comment posted by James Knoch posted on this blog which is as below,
SP3 & the Rollup Updates are not supposed to require you to disable Forefront anymore, but it doesn't hurt to be safe and disable/enable it anyways. Make sure you are running Forefront Rollup 4 (http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2619883)
& the latest security update (http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=41836).
Above stated confused me a bit, is it mandatory to upgrade Forefront or it is NOT.
    Thanks,
    AJ
