Exchange mail is marked "read" on iPhone and Exchange Mail

My boss asked me this morning if I had ever heard of this happening, and I have not.  He syncs his exchange mail with his iPhone.  He says that all of his mail appears on both devices marked as "read".  He is using Windows 7.  Has anyone had this problem?  Can anyone point me in the right direction?

Hi there I'm having the same issue but only with 1 account, what was the fix?

  • Mail marked read on iPhone 5 automatically. Why?

This is weird. I just updated to iPhone 5 (restored from 4 backup) but this happened on my iPhone 4 too.
Mail comes in - iCloud email. The iPhone makes it's mail recieved sound, but the mail is not displayed becaue the iPhone has marked it as read. And if I open Mail on my iMac (Moutain Lion) - the email is not highlighted but marked as read too. BUT -  on my iPad Mini (also new) the email is NOT marked Read and the Mail icon lists 1 new message. And it is also in the Notification center. But the iPhone it is not in Notification Center.
This was happening on my 4 too - but not all email. AND Not always the same email. Sometimes the email that is marked read - comes in normal at times.
If Mail on y iMac is open - these emails come in and are not marked read. So it appears the iPhone (4 & 5) is the culprit.
    Any ideas or thoughts?
    Thanks

  • ITunes can't read my iPhone and now I can't uninstall iTunes. Help!

One day out of the blue I was unable to sync my iPhone 4S on iTunes. I then updated my iTunes to the latest version 11.0.1.
Error message then pops out when I opened iTunes "The software required for communitcating with iPods and mobile phones was not installed correctly. Do you want iTunes to try to repaire this for you?"
I selected "Yes" and another error message appeared "The software could not be repaired. Please reinstall iTunes if you wish to use these devices."
However, now I can't uninstall iTunes because after it uninstalls till the last 1 second, an error message kept appearing "Error getting file security: C:\Program Files\iTunes\ GetLastError:5"
I'm using Windows Vista 32-bit Operating system. And I've checked the file security for iTunes folder under Program Files and I'm the owner.
Attached below are the error messages I've been encountering. Can some kind soul advise me? Because now I can't update my songs in my iPhone and it's becoming obsolete if I can't do anything with it.
    Thank you!

  • IPod touch being read as iPhone and wont restore.

    Hi,
Recently I paid to update my iPod touch 2nd gen 16gb to 3.0 firmware.
I bought my iPod about 3 weeks ago.
It was has been working fine, but now, it's reading my iPod Touch as an iPhone.
Before that, I would try to update it, and it would say the firmware corrupt error, and this was with ANY firmware I tried. I also went in to delete the corrupt file in the appdata sector, and there was nothing there.
Regardless, I deleted the folder, but it still has the corrupted firmware line. I also put it into recovery mode, and tried to update from there but it still said corrupted firmware.
This iPod as an iPhone is the newest problem though, I don't understand why it would pick it up as that.
I have also uninstalled and reinstalled itunes.
I have not attempted to jailbreak or anything of that sort.
It does still work and function correctly besides the attempted updating and or restoring part.
Now it's reading as an iPod but still wont restore or update...
Any help would be nice, thanks!

    Hi,
Make sure the iPod touch is directly connected to a high-speed USB2 port on the PC, using the cable that came with it. This article: http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1286 provides other tips that will rule out USB connection issues.

I have been trying for Hours but Itunes 10.5 isn't taking to the computer. It won't pass 10.3. Eventho its telling me it's up 2 date. I cannot download ios5 untill I have 10.5 Itunes but My Mac won't let me. My computer is only a year and half old so I dont know what the problem is.
    I figured it out. Thanks!!!

  • ITunes no longer reads my iPhone or iPad when plugged in.  I have iCloud but some teaching mp3 no longer transfer from computer to devices.

For years I have been able to share all my audio files between my phone, pod, & iPad.  Since iCloud and Match, iTunes no longer transfers mp3 files that it sees as not music.  When I do plug in my iPhone and iPad, iTunes no longer reads my iPhone and iPad as a device.  How can I get my mp3 files that are teaching tapes back on my mobile devices?

  • How can I read email from my aol account from my iphone and keep it as uread on my computer at home.  It automatically goes to read mail on my computer.  On my computer if I want to keep an email to answer later I can mark it "Keep as New".

How can I read my email from my aol account from my iphone and keep it as "unread" on my computer at home?  At home I can read an email and if I want to get back to it at a later date I can mark it as "keep as new".  I tend to forget it if it goes to "read" mail.   Right now, when I read an email from my phone it goes automatically to "read" mail.

On the iPad, using the mail app, there is no way to do what you are asking without tapping the flag icon and marking the item as unread. Have you tried the OWA app for the iPad? It may have that functionality, but I haven't tested it as you need an Office 365 subscription with Exchange support to use the app.

If I read a email on my iPhone and later open Mail on my iPad, the iPad still shows the email as unread. This changed recently, perhaps after iOS7 upgrade. Did I miss a setting? All mail account are IMA. iCloud is set to push, business mail is set to fetch every 15 minutes.

Read thier own support document on the subject then
    http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1795
This document was written as an answer to all those who complained about it as paying MobileMe users
They ignored us then and when MobileMe became iCloud they ignored us again, and just carried on with a system that will not update the e-mail read status across all devices
That's how it works,   and like you 1000's of loyal Apple users cant believe it either but there you go

  • How do I get mail on my iPhone and Mac to sync automatically, so e.g. messages read on one appear read on both?

    Hello!
I use Gmail, and with either Google Sync or with a standard account set up, I'm not able to get my iPhone and MacBook Pro to sync mail automatically, so I end up having to read and delete emails twice.
There must be an easy way around that, that I'm stupidly unable to find, right?
    Thanks!

If you created as an Exchange account on the iPhone (not IMAP or POP) and you have Push on it should all work smoothly; Reading a message on either client should mark the other read (it does on mine). Try deleting the account from the phone, rebooting the phone (to clear out old settings), then go to Settings/Mail,Contacts,Calendar, add an account and tap Microsoft Exchange and add the account back.
There is a fundamental difference between BB and iPhone that you should be aware of; on the BB you do not sync directly with Exchange; you sync with the RIM server which then syncs with your Exchange server. The iPhone syncs directly with Exchange using Microsoft's ActiveSync protocol. So in some ways they will behave differently. But ActiveSync should manage marking messages as read correctly.

  • Mail on iMac not accessing MS Exchange server but both iPhone and iPad access the same account with no problems.

I have been using an iPhone and iPad to access my work emails via our MS Exchange server for a number of years now with no problems at all.  I recently replaced my home PC with an iMac (first Mac I have owned) but cannot get it to communicate with the exchange server.  I've checked and re-checked the information on the iMac and my iPad - I even deleted the mail account on the iPad and input the details concurrently with setting up on the iMac - but the Mac will not access the exchange server.
I receive the message "The Exchange server "---------------" rejected the password for user "------"  Enter you password again or cancel."  I am using the correct password.  iPad and iPhone are logging on using that password fine.  iMac just ends up repeating this message.
Our IT support at work assure me that there is no reason from their end for it not to work, and reasonably point to it working using the iPhone etc.
I'd be extremely grateful if anyone can provide a solution to this basic, but extremely frustrating, little problem.

iPhone and iPad use a different way of accessing the server.
I don't know the exact details, but we are using Zarafa instead of Exchange and have the same problem:
iPhone and the likes can connect to Zarafas z-push interface, which is some identical interface to the native Exchange interface, while the desktop e-mail application tries to interface with the web front end (via http) of the server.
These are completely different setups and it depends on the actual installation of the server to get this going.
So, you will most likely need different access parameters for the desktop - and the web mail feature has to be enabled on the Exchange server.
In my opinion using the web mail interface is just silly. On the other hand, the native protocol has less features comparedto the web front end, so you are somehow stuck with sins of the past.
    Good luck!

  • I cannot read S/MIME encrypted Mails on iPhone and iPad

I have a Certificate for my email address by Comodo. It is installed in Thunderbird on PC and iPhone and iPad with iOS 7.1.2.
Thunderbird on PC behaves like expected, i can send and read encrypted emails.
On iPad and iPhone i cannot read encrypted emails.
I imported my S/MIME Certificate via email attachment (p.12-File) and activated it in the mail section for my account. I also enabled signature and encryption function.
    1. When i receive an email that is signed but not encrypted, the certificate of the sender is trusted & installed.
    2. When i receive an email that is encrypted, the same sender is now shown in red color. I cannot read the email, because my profile allegedly does not contain my identitiy.
    3. When i try to reply to the signed but not encrypted email (1.) then the message i send is signed but not encrypted, even though the address is shown in blue with a lock (which text info: encryption is possible).
    4. When I send an encrypted email to my own account via ipad or iphone, i can read it on both ipad and iphone. This makes me think that the iOS Mail App uses S/MIME encryption a little bit different then Thunderbird.
All of this does not fit together. It think I correctly installed my certificate but there are problems in the Mail Program on iOS.

Solved: the problem was that the emails were encrypted with an old public key.
