Exchange/Outlook 2010 Server Side Rule

Hi guys,
Does anyone know what happens with regards to rule that forwards email received to a new destination (in this case a contact) but the outbound message size limit is breached. In normal operation Outlook would pop-up a message indicating but what happens
in the case of the rule. Would it fail and retry or what?

Good question. It seems our enterprise Exchange team have set the inbound message limit to 35MB and the outbound to 25MB. This therefore plays havoc with journaling to an external source.
Just trying to determine if it would just silently fail or cause anything else.

Interesting. Where is that set exactly? On the receive and send connectors or the global limits?
The global limits should match for the send and receive limits and be equal to the highest allowed message size.

User mailboxes have more server-side rule options then shared mailboxes?

I was hoping to set up some server-side rules to keep a shared mailbox clean. The goal was to have some rules to move incoming messages to specific folders based off words in the subject. I opened the shared mailbox in OWA and found the action
of moving the message to a folder was not available. At first I figured that's an action that's only available in a client-side rule. However, I then found that in my user mailbox that action is available server-side. It would appear there
are a number of other action that are available server side to user but not shared mailboxes.
Anybody else notice this? Is this a bug?

I have a test in my environment using Exchange 2013. We can use two methods to create rules in OWA. When I open shared mailbox via OWA to create rules, only one way is possible. I recommend you use this way to create rules in OWA and check the result. Here
is the detailed steps for your reference.
Click Setting icon (on the right corner) -> Options -> organize email -> New

Server side rule - inline forwarding of a message

We have a solution that generates custom x-header on all emails (via an Outlook Add-in). Using Outlook, User A creates a server-side rule which forwards messages onto User B. User B receives a message without the custom
x-header. My question is how can I retain the custom x-header, at the moment I cannot think of any way!
The server-side rule can use 'forward as attachment' which keeps the custom x-header in the attached message, but the 'inline forward' action (where the forward message is embedded into the body of the new message) doesn't. Requirement is for both
types of forwarding to function!

Have you looked at using a Transport Rule instead ?, because Transport Rules allow you to process messages in the Transport Pipeline you should be able to copy the Forward recipient on the message and that will means they will get an exact copy of the
message.

Server side rule filtering and message colorization

I've been using server side rule filtering (Sieve) to handle all my mail filtering, mainly because I don't have a .Mac account and I have multiple machines that I access my mail from. This setup works really well except I have not been able to figure out how to color a message.
I've searched and read through emails, but I haven't seen anything else about this problem. I even found a message that had been colorized by Mail's Junk filter, and found that Mail adds an additional mime part onto the message which is a property list that specifies the color of the message.
What I really want is some way that I can set a header on my message, which Mail will see and apply that color to the message when it caches it on my Mac. A lot of my messages get moved to specific folders, but I still want to colorize them, and as far as I've seen, Mail's rules only work on messages that end up in the INBOX.
Although I fear that its not possibly, I figured I'd ask for help if anyone has encountered similar problem and solved it.

The IMAP-protocol (I suppose that's the one you use, otherwise server side mail filtering won't be visible in Mail.app) does not have any mechanism to transmit colorization information to the client. You have to set up these manually on each client.

Calling PL/SQL from Server Side Rule

I'm wanting to call a PL/SQL procedure from a server side rule created within collaboration suite using the oesrl command line utility. I have seen examples of the XML rule which should do this together with the appropriate PL/SQL

The above should call the Procedure RulesPackage.archive_message when an email to anyone at instigate.com arrives in OCS. I have written and tested an appropriate package. However, I have been unable to get the rule to execute and call my PL/SQL when I send an email to trigger it.
I have written rules which do not invoke external packages without any trouble.
I believe the problem is that I need to register the PL/SQL package with the rules engine somehow, before the rule can find it, but I am uncertain how to do this, or even if that is indeed what I need to do.
Any help would be most appreciated as the documentation doesn't go into too much detail.
I am using OCS R2.

Could you please check the structure of the procedure "RulesPackage.archive_message" ? It may fail due to procedure structure.
The structure should be similar to the below example

Server side rule and procCall - only in es_mail schema

I am trying to call procedures in the procCall tag of a server side rule, but I cannot make it work for procedures that are not in the es_mail schema.
I tried creating synonyms and I am dead sure my grants are correct, but as soon as I add a schema name in front of the call it stops working.
Is this correct, people of Oracle, and why?

Outlook 2010 "Server is unavailable" error when starting remote app

All,
I have recently built and configured a new server to run Remote Desktop Services. It in on Server 2008 R2 Standard 64-bit.
I have published numerous applications (e.g. Adobe, Visio, Project, etc. as well as Office 2010) to the host server. Everything works with the exception of Outlook 2010 (client of an Exchange 2010 server). When I or any of my users try to bring
it up in the RDS portal, it goes through the normal start-up of any Outlook first use and looks for an existing email account. As it is trying to load the user profile, an error pops up saying "The server is unavailable." Clicking "Retry" does
not work at all.
When I run Outlook directly from the RDS host server itself, it loads up and runs fine so I know the RDS server can contact the Exchange server.
Any ideas on why the Outlook application works on the host server but will not work when trying to run it through the RDS Web Access portal?

Outlook 2010 - server unavailable - clicking Retry works

I'm just installing Office 2010 on a Win2k8 R2 server with Remote Desktop Services (Exchange server is 2010). When I start Outlook I get the message "exchange server unavailable", click Retry. So I click Retry and after a minute Outlook launches.
The whole process takes longer than it should I'm sure, but it's consistent: every time at Outlook launch; wait, click Retry, wait, success. Any ideas what I should check?

Try to test the problem in Windows Safe mode with networking to check if the problem is caused by the
background
programs. If the issue persists, reinstall outlook 2010 and see if the issue persists.

No Default Mail Client Error with Outlook 2010, Server 2008 R2 Terminal Server, and TAM

We are running a software package on a Windows 2008 R2 Terminal Server called TAM (The Agency Manager) along with Outlook 2010. The application uses a MAPI connection to retrieve mail data from Outlook to be able to send and receive messages inside
the application. On our individual PC's this works just fine, but on the Terminal Server users we get the message "Either there is no default mail client or the current mail client cannot fulfill the messaging request. Please run Microsoft Outlook
and set it as the default mail client."
I've tried the steps listed in KB 813745 which tells you to delete the registry keys and run a repair in Office, but that didn't resolve the issue. I've searched on this issue, but haven't found anything useful. Any suggestions would be much
appreciated.

Try to set DEP and add outlook.exe. I had outlook 2007 same problem. With DEP enabled and outlook, word en excel also added to the list it worked again.
You can find it under this computer, properties, then change settings. Click advanced tab and then select the first "settings" option.The click the "Data Execution Prevention" (DEP) and select the last option and add the office programs
there.

Pdf Preview Handler Error outlook 2010 Server 2008

Pdf Preview Handler Error in outlook 2010 32.bit and Server 2008 64.bit. Using Adobe X. Registry app id correct. Turned on previewer in outlook in trust center. Repaired adobe installation. All to no avail. Any thoughts or fixes. Please Help

Hello i got nearly the same problem. Selecting the .pdf attachment in outlook. error code says that no preview can be showed, because the needed preview isn't installed.
Server 2012 R2 as Terminalserver, Outlook 2013, newest version of adobe reader XI.
I've already checked the following:
- outlook>options>trustcenter>trustcenter settings>attachment handling .. the box disable preview is clear .. furthermore outlook>options>trustcenter>trustcenter settings>attachment handling>attachment and documentpreview .. all
boxes including pdf preview handler are filled.
- adobe reader XI>edit>presettings?>e-mail-account ... outlook is standart.
- Registryentry: "Change the AppID value to {534A1E02-D58F-44f0-B58B-36CBED287C7C}"
- also i repaired the adobe installation and i reinstalled it a few times.
- even checked the access-rights on the temp. directorys outlook uses for attachments and the users have full access.
i have no more clue what it can be..
so may you have the solution for me or at least some tips.

Connection Office365 Exchange - Outlook 2010/2013 (Desktop)

I have an Office365 account with Exchange function, connected with my personal domain. This works perfect for almost a year now, but since a few days, Outlook (desktop) can't connect to my ExchangeMail/Office365 anymore. Some details:
I can reach my mail via the Web App
My iPhone receives my email; no problems here
The password has not been changed
I've tried to connect with Outlook2010 on Windows7 and with Outlook2013 on Windows8; both can't connect
Profile removed and re-added: no result
As during creating/editing the profile in the ConfigurationScreen/Email, as in Outlook (2010 & 2013) itself, the login window pops up and can't connect (and because of that, Outlook automatically close).
In short: what is the problem here and -more important- how can I fix this?

Please check the problematic users' Outlook settings by the following steps:
1. Click File > Account Settings > Account Settings > Change > More settings.
2. In Security tab, make sure "Encrypt data between Microsoft Outlook and Microsoft Exchange" option is checked, "Always prompt for logon credentials" is unchecked.
3. Change the logon network security to Negotiate Authentication, and Apply > OK to set it.
Restart Outlook to have a try. If the issue persists, please
re-create Outlook profile to check whether the issue persists.

Outlook 2010 Server connection issue

All of a sudden, one of my Outlook 2010 profiles, an IMAP/SMTP account, says it can’t connect to the server
My attempts to repair the connection get the messages “None of the authentication methods are supported by this client are supported by your server”.
The configuration details haven't been changed, so what do I do now?

Please first try to log into your webmail and check if it works well there.
If the problem didn't exist in webmail, please go to File > Info > Account Settings > Account Settings > Highlight your IMAP account and click Change > More Settings > Select Outgoing Server tab and make sure you ticked the first two
options. See:

Exchange - Outlook 2010 - Additional mailboxes are re-added

Hello,
i am having the problem that some additional mailboxes are re-added to my outlook-profile.
I did have full-mailbox-access in the past, but this is a few months ago.
I tried this :

but after a new login, the mailboxes are re-added again.
I can not open these mailboxes, because i don`t have access to them.
These mailboxes are not shown in the account-settings-tab in Outlook.

Hi ,
1.Through dsa.msc Just take the object path of the mailbox which is auto mapping to your mailbox.
2.Login in to your domain controller and open a tool called ADSIEDIT through run prompt.
3.Then connect the default naming context (domain name) through ADSIEDIT tool and then expand it.
4.Then you can see the structure as same as OU. From there you can able to find the account which is adding automatically to your account by referring the object path which was taken from the step 1.
5.Just go to the properties of the mailbox and then look for the attribute msExchDelegateListLink
.On that attribute you will find the list of values which is having automapping access
to that mailbox.On that you should have to delete the value which belongs to you mailbox.

Outlook 2010 - Applying a rule based on Categories

Is it possible to apply a rule that moves a message to a specific folder once the message has been assigned a Category?

No, rules are applied as the messages are downloaded. You could use Run Rules Now or use a macro that watches for changes and moves the message when a category is assigned.
I have a similar macro that creates a task when a message is flagged - it will be fairly easily to change to act when a category is applied. See http://www.slipstick.com/developer/code-samples/create-task-message-flagged/
