Exchange Rate Difference in PO with cost center assignment

Hi All,
In case of exchange rate difference in a PO with a cost center assignment the system Do not post the difference in the exchange rate difference account (maintained under transaction type - KDM - in T-code OBYC). However if the PO is a normal material PO it posts the exchange rate difference to the exchange rate difference account.
I want the exchange rate difference to be posted to the exchange rate difference accout for PO's with cost center assigned as well.
I have searched for SAP notes and found that note # 980402 & 1102481 provides a solution for this issue - but it seems both the notes are valid for 4.6 and 6 release only. We are on ECC 5.0
I have also checked note # 1136145 for this and implemented in the system successfully without any luck.
Can some one please help me with a solution for this issue.
Thanks and regards,
Ankur

Even I have implemented this note in our 4.6C system for account assigned POs, but no luck. Please let me know if are successful.
Thanks
Neel

  • Exchange rate difference KDM in MIRO - cost center used

We have recently testing to setup KDM Exchange rate difference posting in LIV and encounter the problem of cost center cannot be determine for PO with account assignment A (For asset) and P (for Project).
The question is how does the system determine the cost center for the exchange rate different account? It doesn't take the default cost center from the configuration in OKB9 but extract the cost center from PO Account Assignment - for Asset Account assignment, there is no cost center in PO and thus it is giving a error of 'Field Cost Ctr is a required field....'
    Any help appreciated.

Dear Murali: Yes, GL account is maintained in OBYC for KDM transaction, I am following the OSS note 980402 for the setup (ECC6 system). The GL account say is 60000005. In OB09, we have maintained the entry for this account 60000005 to have a default cost center (e.g. 1000). This cost center does not get defaulted when MIRO posting is done with exchange rate difference. Instead, the cost center is obtained from the PO (e.g. the account assignment in PO have cost center 5000). But for certain account assignment (e.g. 'P' for WBS and 'A' for Asset), there is no cost center maintained in PO account assignment and thus in MIRO i get an error message as mentioned above.
Dear SAPFICO: check the asset master also, althrough there is a cost center in Asset Master, it does not get extracted into MIRO postings.

  • System is trying to post exchange rate rounding revenues to a cost center!

    Hello experts,
We are trying to clear some accounts payable items and also run the payment program. Both operations are trying to post revenue to a cost center (and profit center), and we get an error (because cost center is locked against revenues, and we want to keep it that way...).
We have implemented the New GL with document split. We have setup account 80600 for revenue exchange rate differences in configuration. We have setup in OKB9 account 80600 for exchange rate differences to be posted to a profit center. Account 80600 is defined as a revenue element (type 11).
Can anybody please explain why the system is deriving the cost center and profit center when trying to post the revenue, instead of just the profit center?
Eventually if I cannot solve this issue, can anybody tell me how to change a cost element category of a cost element (from 11 to 1) which already has transactions posted to?
Thank you for your help in advance!

  • How to distribute exchange rate difference to material with moving average price?

    Hi community,
Exchange rate differences are not distributed into the items based on the shipment (per article/material). Is there a workaround available based on the GR/IR exchange rate difference and the material that was purchased?
    Thank you and best regards,
    Barbara Dörr

    Hi Lokesh,
thanks a lot for the quick answer, but I
had read this documentation and only found this documentation of exchange rate
    difference posting:
GR/IR clearing uses the exchange rate of
the goods receipt. The GR/IR clearing run completely clears Unbilled Payables
and Purchases in Transit. The run calculates price differences of EUR 155 and exchange rate differences of EUR
    135. The price differences are posted to the price difference account and the
exchange rate differences to the exchange rate difference account.
Therefore I guessed that the exchange
rate differences are NOT distributed to the material with moving average price.

  • Exchange rate differences not found in CKM3

    Hi ML Experts,
PO has been raised with foreign currency. At the time of GR, the same price has been paid at the same exchange rate. Only the other charges like custom and CVD charges were paid in an increased exchange ratio. Hence, all these exchange rate differences got posted to the accounts assigned in KDM/KDR. But when I see in CKM3, exchange differences are not found. .Is there any setting imissing or should be done?.

    Hi,
Thanks Shaubhikg. This OSS notes describes about how the closing entries takes care of the both price and exchange differences of the material procured and production variances. But still my answer is unanswered.
My worry ts that  since the exchange differences were captured in accounts of KDM but not seen when I see the material in CKM3. Any more inputs from you or from other fellow brethern!

    Hello,
we want only reset the cleared documents . We dont want to reverse the cleard documents. But When we try to do it we get a message Exchage difference are posted do you want to reverse it. Want we want to reset are in Doc.. currency. postings for August.
As i know when we have exchange rate difference we  dont get an option only resettng but we get reseting and reversing.
May i know how to slove this situation.
    Thank you
    Chaithra

    HiI
f you set this selection field then the settings in the ERD Setting column for this currency type are no longer relevant. The system calculates and posts exchange rate differences between order-related goods receipts and invoices not just for materials with standard price, but also for:
    Materials with moving average price
    Account-assigned transactions
    Planned delivery costs
The valuation of the inventories or consumption is effectively done at the exchange rate for the goods receipt, and not at the exchange rate of the invoice. When you post the good receipts, the fixed exchange rate from the purchase order is not used, but the translation of the purchase order values to local currency is always done at the posting date of the goods receipt.
If you are using the material ledger with actual costing, the system does not include the posted exchange rate differences at period-end closing in the actual prices of the materials.

  • Exchange rate differences to be added to item cost

    Hi All,
My client wants all the exchange rate differences existing in the Purchase process should affect the item cost?
    How can i do this?
    thanks

    Md.nazeer Shaikh

    Hi All,
    Thanks for the replies.
Scenario. My client mainly deals with import export business.
When he post the GRPO the exchange rate may be 55 but when he posts the invoice it may be 55.5 in this case system will post the difference amount to the exchange rate difference account.
Second case when he make the payment it may be 60.Again the system by default posts to the exchange rate difference account.
My client wants everytime whenever he finds this scenario system should automatically increase/decrease the item cost.Is it possible in SAP B1

  • Problem while 're-posting' a cancelle Invoice with Exchange Rate Difference

    Hi Gurus,
We are facing a problem while re-posting an Invoice with Exchange Rate Difference. I say re-posting because this invoice was previously posted and reversed on the same date. Here is the scenario along with the relevant postings:
    1)
G/R is posted in September when the exchange rate for dollar was, say, Rs. 49 = 1 USD.
    Posting:
    Service A/C.....100 USD (Rs. 4900)
         To SR/IR Clearing A/C...100 USD (Rs. 4900)
    2)
MIRO is done in October, when the exchange rate was, say, Rs. 48 = 1 USD. Thus, the exchange difference posting was done in the respective accounts.
    Posting:
    SR/IR Clearing A/C......100 USD (Rs. 4900)
To Vendor A/C...........90 USD (Rs. 4320)
To TDS A/C..............10 USD (Rs.  480)
To Exch. Difference A/C. 0 USD (Rs.  100)
This was the correct entry, however we missed out some TDS codes and thus needed to reverse this entry and repost it.
    3)
Now this invoice was reversed (T.Code MIRO) in october itself on exactly the same date on which invoice was created, and it resulted in the following postings:
    Vendor A/C......90 USD (Rs. 4320)
    TDS A/C.........10 USD (Rs.  480)
         To SR/IR Clearing A/C...100 USD (4800, i.e. 48 * 100, Rs.48 being the exchange rate in october)
    4)
Now when we try to post MIRO again, it is posting the following entry:
    SR/IR Clearing A/C......97.96 USD (Rs. 4800)
Exch. Difference A/C.....2.04 USD (Rs.    0)
         To Vendor A/C........... 85 USD (Rs. 4080)
         To TDS1 A/C............. 10 USD (Rs.  480)
         To TDS2 A/C.............  5 USD (Rs.  240)
This is a wrong entry. SR/IR clearing A/C should have been debited by 100 USD (Rs. 4900), and the Exch. Rate difference account should have been credited by 0 USD (Rs. 100)
Can someone please help us with this. What the system seems to be doing is, that when the Invoice was reversed, the value that got reversed for SR/IR Clearing A/C was 100 USD but with Rs. 4800 instead of Rs. 4900. Now, when we try to repost the invoice, the system divided this value by the exchange rate prevalent in September, i.e. Rs. 49, thus the resultant value 97.96 USD (i.e.  4800 / 49).
    Please help.
    Thanks!
    Regards,
    Angad Nagpal

    Solved.
The final entry is correct, as the net result in the G/L balances is the same. For further information please refer to notes 116250 and 46564.
    Thanks!

  • Unplanned delivery cost & exchange rate differences in MIRO

    Hi Gurus,
while posting MIRO, I am facing the following problems.  If anybody gives me reply, it will be a great help.
    1.  Unplanned delivery cost:
Client requirement is, these unplanned delivery costs should be added on material only.
how we can map this?  how system behaves when stock is there and not there?  also tell me which G/Ls will trigger.
    2. Exchange Rate:
I maintained exchange rate in OB08. while doing MIRO, how system posts exchange rate differences.
    which G/Ls will trigger.
in case of conditions like customs duty, cess  etc how system will behave?  which G/Ls will trigger?
    Thanks in advance
    KK

    Hi,
    According to first question:
For unplanned cost You have configuration for plant code:
Configuration: SPRO->MM->LIV->Incoming invoice->Configured how unplanned delivery cost are posted
    You have 2 options:
           - Distribute among invoice items
           - Different G/L line
You have another option, You can assigne this cost for item when You use fright cost condition in PO (FRA/FRB)
If the stock will be available, then system incrase valuation, If not will be deviation.
G/L account for unplanned cost is taking from PRD(for Distribute among invoice items) or UPF(for Different G/L line) transaction from OBYC tcode and for FRA/FRB condition is FR1.
    Question 2:
Configuration: SPRO->MM->LIV->Incoming invoice->Configure How Exchange Rate Differences Are Treated
G/L account takes from KDR transaction from OBYC tcode.

  • No exchange rate difference at Invoice Receipt for PO with account assignme

    Hi all,
I have a PO with account assignment "K" postinged to G/L account XYZ.
In OBYC, the MM exchange rate difference (KDM) account is set to ABC.
The exchange rate between GR and IR is different.
I expect there should be an exchange rate difference posting to ABC, but instead it's posted to the GL account in the PO, i.e. XYZ.
Do you know what is missing?
    Many thanks.
    Manlee

    Hi
Have you checked if note 980402  is in?  We found on a customer system that even though this note was in some settings were still missing which SAP support inserted as follows (per point 49 of the note):
    49. Use transaction SM31 to add the following entries to the table T169A.
BUSTW CNT02 VORSL FELDN FELDN_ALT BUZID
    RE02 03 KDM KRDIF P
    RE10 03 KDM KRDIF P
    RE11 03 KDM KRDIF P
    RE13 03 KDM KRDIF P
    RE21 09 KDM KRDIF P
    RE22 10 KDM KRDIF P
After this correct the system is able to post to GL account defined in KDM/KDF ( I forget now which one it used).  Note that this assumes the flagg CCCUR is set to activate this functionality. This will effectively override the fixed flag in the PO.

  • F-28 Exchange Rate Difference Account with a zero posting

    Hi SAP Gurus,
When I try to post an incoming payment, even though there are no exchange rate differences, the system post to exchange rate difference account. How to configure the system to stop displaying the exchange rate difference account when the difference is zero.
    Regards,
    Siva

    Dear Siva,
I dont think that the system will post to exchange rate difference account if there is no difference. Probably you are seeing the doucment in the foreign currency. Try to simulate the entry and on the simulated screen, click on the "Display currency" tab on the top of the entry. That will show the simulated entry in the local currency. In the local currency, there may be some difference.
Check it and if useful, assign points.

  • Exchange Rate difference posting during MIRO posting

    Hi ,
We are facing an issue for exchange rate difference posting during MIRO.
PO creation , GR posting & IR posting done on same date. Vendor in PO has different currency than company code currency. Exchange rate maintained in OB08 for this period is taken in PO.
PO value & GR value is same. Due to raw material cost there was price difference posted during GR posting.
(i.e. Raw material cost - GR/IR value = Price difference amount)
During posting MIGO, 3 accounts got posted.
Raw material cost account got debited & offset credit to GR/IR account & price difference account (in vendor & company code currency also)
During posting MIRO, 4 accounts got posted.
Vendor account got credited with GR/IR amount & offset to GR/IR account debit.
Exchange rate difference account got credited & offset to price difference account (in company code currency only)
Since PO creation , GR posting & IR posting done on same date, then why system has posted exchange rate difference account in local currency only during MIRO posting ?
    Your inputs appreciated.
    Thanks & Regards

    Hi,
there is a setting in configuration of logistics invoice verification where you can control the calculation and posting of exchange rate differences. If you had the setting active that exchange rate differences are calculated against a planned exchange rate, that might lead to the kind of postings you describe. Please check.
    best regards,   Udo

  • Exchange rate difference in SAP MM

    Hi experts,
Is there any way to bring the exchange rate difference at time of invoice to some other account rather than stock account.
    The scenario is; for eg.
    in PO :   1 USD = 50 INR
    @ GRN 1 UDS = 55 INR
    @ INV    1 USD = 60 INR
At the GRN, inventory will be updated with 55 INR.
At the INV, system will value vendor at 60 INR, but in Standard SAP, the difference of 5 INR will be updated as below.
    1.  exchange rate diff. will be posted to stock account if available stock qty is >= invoice quantity
    2.  exchange rate diff. will be posted to exchange rate diff acct (as per KDM) ,if available stock qty is 0
    3.  exchange rate diff. will be posted propotionately to stock account and exchange rate diff acct (as per KDM) ,if available stock qty is <  invoice quantity
Is there any way, that system will post the exchange rate difference to separate account , rather than inventory.
It is because in client audit, the audit concern say, according to Indian standards, inventory should be valuated only one time in imports. In case of any differences, it should post to separate account and not inventory. They say SAP allows that. Client asked us the same.
I have checked, OMRW, but even after giving 'N' in ERD setting, system is posting to stock account only.
    Any way to meet this??
    Regards
    sBk

    Dear Sujith,
Exchange rate differences for a moving average price material will be
posted to the stock account, provide there is sufficient stock coverage.
Transaction OLMR -> Incoming invoice -> Configure how exchange rate
    difference are treated.
If you set this selection field then the settings in the ERD Setting
column for this currency type are no longer relevant. The system
calculates and posts exchange rate differences between order-related
goods receipts and invoices not just for materials with standard price,
    but also for:
    * Materials with moving average price
    * Account-assigned transactions
    * Planned delivery costs
Because of this setting the exchange rate differences are posted to KDM
account  instead of stock (BSX) or price difference (PRD) account
If you uncheck the field, exchange rate differences will be posted to
the stock or price difference account, for a moving average price
material, based on the stock coverage.
Please refer Sap note  980402 in detail
    regards,
    lalita

  • Settlement of exchange rate difference

    Hi All,
After doing final payment of PO in which Network is used as cost object, i.e. through transaction F-58, and if the PO is of import nature and in different currency, an automatic line item of exchange rate difference occurs. While doing settlement of the Network to roll up its related amount to main project, all amount gets settled while exchange rate difference and liquidity damages does not. Isn't PS tightly integrated with FI in such cases? Any suggestions on how to settle such amount?
    Thanks
    -Nayab

    Hi,
You said about automatic creation of new line item for exchange rate difference, What is the Item category for the new line item? to which cost object is this line item account assigned ? For it flow back in to Network, it should be account assigned to Network. If creation of this new line item is achieved thru development, then also update it to account assign the new line item to Network.
When you post the GR for a P.O , GR/IR acct is credited and Inventory acct is debited by the material proce. If it proj spec item and Non stock then cost is recognised as actual cost in project.
Any difference amount occured during MIRO, GR/IR account is debited by same amount as it was credited while MIGO and Difference amount goes to Price Diff account. And vendor is credited by the MIRO amount.
Vendor Credit = Debit GR/IR + Debit Price Diff account.
At period end you can distirbute the cost from Price Diff account to Orgin objects of cost i.e project. Catch here will be to identify how to distribute to each proj from Price Diff account. May be you can think of some common % or use SKF (Statstical Key Figure).
    Thanks

  • Exchange rate diff. influencing the available cost of WBS-element

    Hi all,
here is a intricate problem I need help to solve. I am not so very experienced withon CO/PS, my main competence is within PM. This issue involves PM/MM/PS and CO so I am not sure if this is the correct group to post to, but I give it a try..
In PM (Plant Maintenance) workorders the u201DPlanned Costu201D is calculated.  Exchange rate type for the u201DPlanned costu201D is picked from the CO Cost Version u201D0u201D that uses exchange rate type u201DPu201D. This is a exchange rate type that have one yearly fixed exchange rate. The actual costs are posted with exchange rate type M, which is daily updated.
The Planned cost in the workorder is a part of the u201DAssigned Costu201D that are influencing the available budget on the WBS-element. u201DRemaining/Residual order planu201D.
In cases where the PRQ/PO are created in other currency than the Company code currency we have a problem:
The difference in exchange rate are causing the u201DAvailable budgetu201D to be too low u2013 and the only workaround I have found is to decrease the planned cost in the WO to release the available cost for the Budget. (make the available cost higher )
Does anyone have an idea how to solve this?
    - I have thought of setting the exchange rate type for the planned cost to be the same as for the actual costs u2013 but it is not recommended to change the exchange rate type in CO for cost version u201D0u201D and not a good ide to change the exchange rate type for actual cost eather. This will also not solve the problem of exchange rate difference caused by PRQ/PO beeing created for a whole year for varying exchange rates.
    - Is there a way to exclude the u201D Remaining/Residual order planu201D from the u201DAssigned Costu201D? And what consequences will this have? Only cost from PRQ/PO will appear? (Since internal material (reservations) and internal hours not triggers a PRQ/PO)? I see there is a transaction CJE5 where you can exclude the u201D Remaining/Residual order planu201D from the u201DAssigned costu201D u2013 but I think this will only exclude it from beeing shown in the report S_ALR_87013558?- not from the calculation of available cost at the WBS-element?  which is what I need. (see Note 668240)
-Is there any u201DExchange rate differenceu201D setting in the customizing u2013 how exchange rate difference are treated for PM orders? And will this help my problem?
    Best regards
    Ellen
