Exchange Rate Variance line showing wrong Account

Hi,
Our company is using Oracle EBS R12.1.3. When our Finance users do foreign currency transactions in Payables and match an invoice to the PO then, on the invoice distribution lines, there are two lines (one with the Line type "ITEM" and the other one is
"Exchange Rate Variance"). The ITEM line is Ok but the Exhange Rate Variance Line is showing the same Expense Account as on ITEM line (i.e., hitting wrong account). We have checked the setups in Payable Options. The Account that is defined as PO Rate Variance Gain / Loss is different from the account that is being hit on the Invoice Distribution lines. Why is that so?
Our Finance users are not satisfied with this. They're saying that Exchange Rate variance is not charging to the right account.
Please let me know which setup option am I missing.
Thanks and Regards

Hi Nehmat,
this is an intended behaviour ...
Your purchase order is in Foreign Currency ..
Your Invoice matched to Purchase order is in Foreign Currency ...
Difference between the PO and INV exchange rate has caused Exchange rate variance ..
The entered currency in the above case is Foreign currency therefore entered value for ERV line will be zero ... whereas the accounted line would have the computation for ERV done in functional currency....hence ERV line is acceptable for this case.

  • Exchange Rate Variance Account

We are having a problemwith an invoice in payables module. It is crediting the exchange rate variance account in invoice accounting but is not selecting the right gl code due to which we are not able to generate accounting for this invoice. Can anybody tell me where do we define Exchange Rate Variance account?
Note: If your answer is PO Price Variance account in Financial Options then we have already checked it and it has the right gl code so there definitely is some other place where the aforementioned code is defined.
I can also provide screen shots of the invoice or the distribution of invoice.

  • Exchange rate variances between Primary and Secondary Ledger

We have a little problem on our hands.....we are implementing dual ledgers with dynamic posting, primary in Canadian Dollar and secondary in USD.
Exchange rate variances would occur if for example, we consider material transactions at different points in time. We would have no problems in the primary. However, CAD to USD exchange rates are updated monthly and very likely, rates would change month to month. Therefore, exchange rate variances would happen frequently in the secondary ledger.
We have been asked by senior management how these variances would be handled by EBS. Just wondering if you have ideas though we are looking into the accounting events in SLA.
    Thanks,
    Sanjib

If the requirement was to maintain balance in USD and Canadian dollar, You can use the Reporting currency option instead of Secondary ledger.

  • MIRO - Postings during Foreign invoices - Exchange rate variance

    Hi
I noticed while posting foreign exchange PO's where there is both price variance and exchange rate difference the system posts price variance in foreign currency with a local currency amount of 0 and posts foreign exchange variance in local currency with a foreign currency amount of 0.
can someone explain whether this is standard SAP? What is the logic? How do we do reporting in such cases?
    Thanks
    Raj

    Hi,
As far as foreign exchange rate variance the entries are correct. The difference will be only in Local Currency and not in transaction currency. For example if the transaction currency is USD and Local currency is INR, when there is a change in exchange rate the difference is recorded only in INR. As far as USD is concerned there is no change.
    Thanks

  • OBA1 exchange rate maintenance for the new accounts

    Dear All,
The following three bank G/L accounts 1833280, 1833285 and 1833288 have been created in India Charts of accounts IN01 and extended to company AE10.
The G/L accounts can now be used in AE10.
Now tell me how can I make OBA1 exchange rate maintenance for the new accounts.
Please share your valuable opinions with me.
    Thanks a lot in advance!!

    Hi,
The relevant transaction in OBA1 for the bank accounts is KDF.
Double click on KDF, a new screen will open up, where you do the following:
You enter the bank GL account here.  If the account is to be differently handled at the level of the currency and currency type then you can further limit the exchange rate difference based on these 2 parameters.
Once you have entered the bank GL, save and then double click the bank GL account.  A new screen will open up where you define accounts for the following:
The accounts below will carry the forex gain loss that you when you clear foreign currency transactions.
    1.  Exchange Rate difference realised:
    Loss                 XXXXXX
    Gain                 YYYYY
The accounts below will carry the difference while valuating you open items for
    2.  Valuation:
    Val.loss 1           XXXXXX
    Val.gain 1           YYYYY
    Bal.sheet adj.1      ZZZZZZ
The accounts below will carry transaltion losses.

  • Post Goods issue showing wrong accounting figures

    Dear Friends,
I have received a query where there is one sales order with many line item. Delivery is broken up into pieces and so is billing. When I go to the deliver -post goods issue and check for the accounting document for the first delivery, it shows for accounting document figures perfectly fine but when I go to the second delivery - post goods issue, the accounting document generated figures are vague. The figures which should be in lacs are reflected in crores in the accounting document in the Post goods issue.
The Price Control in the Material is Moving Average Price
The pricing procedure does not show anything wrong in the Sales Document.
Kindly suggest me a solution to this problem. This is a very critical issue as the figures are in huge numbers.
    Regards
    Vineet Jain

    Dear Vineet
Really this is a strange problem which should not happen.  Please confirm whether you are facing this issue in all subsequent deliveries or only for that particular sale order.  If it is only for that particular sale order, then I feel, you need to refer to SAP.
Meanwhile, you can cross check the value as follows:-
Go to MB51, give the material code which has got issue, input plant and movement type and execute.  A list will be displayed where press +"Cntrl + Shift + F12"+ so that the system will take you to a screen where for that particular material code and movement type, a detailed analysis will flow with delivery reference.  In the same screen, there is a field "Amount in LC".  Divide this value with despatched quantity and see whether the value here is flowing correctly (ie.it is picking the moving average price) by comparing with material master Accounting1 view.
    thanks

  • Exchange rates at line items in billing document - VF04

    Hello,
We are trying to create a collective billing document, via transaction VF04, for deliveries created from two sales orders with different exchange rates (VKBD-KURRF).
When we try to execute this operation, two billing documents are created and in split analysis. This behavior is due to different exchange rates (from sales orders).
Since the sold-to-party is the same, he wants a unique billing document for all deliveries.
So we pretend to post one billing document with different exchange rates at item level, instead of at header level.
    Is this possible?
    Regards,
    José Melo

    Dear José Melo
You can combine multiple deliveries in one billing document provided the following are same in all preceding documents
    -  Payer
    -  Actual GI Date from Delivery
    -  Payment Terms
    -  Inco Terms
    -  Account Assignment Group of customer
    -  Exchange Rate
In your case, since invoice is splitting due to exchange rate, you can achieve to have one invoice.  In VF04, you can see a tab Default Data  where there is a field Service Rendered Date.   Maintain a date and generate so that you will get one invoice.
    thanks

  • Mail showing wrong account descriptions

This isn't a major breaking feature, it's just me nit picking. In mail it's not updating the account description for my iCloud email but for all my other accounts it allows me to change them. What's weird is that it works just fine on my iPad 2 and it use to work on my iPhone 4. On my iPhone 4 my iCloud email is designated as "Me" which is what I use to have it back when MobileMe was around. I changed it to "iCloud" and it's still showing "Me". My iPad 2 show's this field as "iCloud" and I'm able to change it to whatever I want.
I've tried some fixes like renaming several times, turning iCloud email on and off, but nothing major. Like I said this is just a nit picking issue since I'd like everything to be unified. It in no way affects my usage of Mail or any other functionality and my iPhone is updated to the latest iOS update.

    Hi all,
I finally solved my problem and felt like I should share my experience. The idea of changing the sorting/listing settings of Mail.app was indeed a good option. Unfortunately, it doesn't solve the issue on my iPhone or any other device/application accessing my data. Besides that, I didn't feel comfortable with this solution, since it didn't really fix my problem.
So here is what I did. I downloaded Mozilla's Thunderbird and set up my MobileMe account. After successfully retrieving all IMAP data I saved a copy of my complete IMAP folder structure locally. Afterwards I checked if I really had all messages and folders and deleted my data on MobileMe. Next step was uploading all my local messages/folders back to MobileMe again. I had about 3,5GB to transfer and it took me almost a night to finish this process.
After successfully transferring the data, I opened Mail.app and my all other devices/applications accessing that particular MobileMe account and had everything re-synchronized and Voilà Thunderbird transferred the messages with the received date correctly and Mail.app and other devices/applications displayed and sorted it accordingly. I deleted Thunderbird's email client and its associated files and folders, but I guess that application should be a keeper anyway.
So far I had the impression that this was all caused, because I transferred my local saved messages/folders to MobileMe through Microsoft Entourage. That application transmitted the date I transferred the message instead of using the message's header date settings.
    I hope this helped.
    Cheers!

  • Exchange rate calculated wrong

    Hi All,
We have a case where Our Cash allocation Team has cleared the items on the attachment on the customer account 1418029 in SAP PRE. The clearing document is 16000167. As per the credit controller s advise they needed to clear the item and leave exceed amount of 15731.44 EUR. They used T-code F-32 and they made the part allocation in EUR.
As it shows the exceed amount was left there indeed. It is 15,731.44 EUR. FX rate 1.41401 which should give 22,244.41 USD in loc curr  and not as it shows in customer account (39,454.25 USD). Can you pls advise what has happened as it caused serious problems in the last month end reporting.
The clearing doc has another clearing document i.e 16000194 in which for the particular effective exchange rate it is showing 2.50799.but if u check inside the document they have given exchange rate as 1.41401.From where the effective exc rate is picking.
    can anybody help on this?
    Thanks
    Aniswa

Customer account shows the amount as per the posting date exchange rate.
But in F-32, F-44 & F-03 clearing screens will show the amount as per the exchange rate of clearing date which is different to posting date. This is normal behaviour only.
While clearing system automatically creates the realized loss/gain line items automatically.

  • FI Forex gain loss & Exchange Rate difference on Foreign Currency & Chart of Accounts

    Dear All,
I have queries on following :
    1) what is difference b/w Forex gain loss account & Exchange Rate difference on Foreign Currency account .
    2) Under which Heads in Balance sheet they should come as per Indian Accounting Standards.
    3) Are these accounts common for Vendor & customers or different.
    4) they record FI data at Company code level or at sub-ledger level first (Vendor /Customer) .
    4) Is it advised to use same Chart of Accounts to two companies in same country by using different GL's with different FSV?
    Regards
    MJ

    Hi M J,
    Please note the answers below:-
    1. It is one and the same thing. When you say forex gain/loss account, it means a GL account and exchnage rate difference means, the difference in rates at which you purchased/sold and the rate at which you made paid/collected.
    2. Ask Client where they want to show these GL's in Financial statement Version.
    3. The configuration setting is in OB09 and SAP allows you to keep same or diff GL for both realised Exchnage rate gain/loss. It depends on how you want to see. technically it is possible.
    4. The Valuation is done at company code level, but individual records are picked up at vendor/customer level. It means that the revaluation gain/loss adjustment is not given to each individual Vendor/Customer, rather it is posted to a GL - Balance Sheet adj.
    5. Yes, you can use same chart of accounts and you do not need to create separate GL's at the company code level for two company codes. Same GL's can be used as the posting is made at Co. code level.
    Regards,
    Kavita
Note : Please raise separate thread for different questions. Your Point No. 5 is not related to the rest.

  • Cost elements for account Profit or loss on exchange rate valuation

I am running transaction F110 and among the invoices to be paid there are foreign denominated invoices. I have 4 business areas set up and have one GL account where all the gains and losses arising from the exchange rate fluctuation are posted (this account has been assigned a cost element).
When I run F110 i get error that the gain/loss on valuation account requires a CO object. I thot the system would be able to determine all the CO objects from the invoices selected for payment. In a payment run, there are a number of invoices belonging to different CO objects.
Is there a way i can get around this. If i delete the cost element will i be able to draw up financial satements per business area.

    Hi,
You can set up in OKB9 for Co Object determination.
You can set Business Area as mandatory in OKB9 and then click on Detail per business Area and another screen will open up, there you can enter, Cost center against Business Areas.
    This will resolve your issue.

  • Exchange rate difference not going to the correct GL account

    Hello,
In the transaction OB09, I have given the GL account 702000 for exchange rate difference realized loss and gain.
I have also maintained the exchange rates in the transaction OB08.
In transaction F-44(clear vendor), I give the foreign curreny(EUR) in the entry screen. When I do a charge off difference, however, I need to enter the amount in local currency(USD) because our bank operates in the local currency. When I do a document simulate, it puts the exchange rate difference into another GL account (703030 - that we have defined for unauthorized deductions) and not the one defined for the exchange rate difference(702000). This does not happen if I enter the amount also in the foreign currency.
Could anyone tell me the reason for this and the correction measures.
Any helpful suggestion will be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks,

    Hello,
The original problem is resolved. The current exchange rate was not getting uploaded to the system and as a result, the old exchange rate was being used. So it was putting the difference into the other account.
That has given rise to another problem. We use the TBEX to upload exchange rates from a centrally maintained spreadsheet. The upload is giving the following errors:
Securities master data EUR do not exist!
Interest rate master data CNY is missing
Suggestions and correction measures will be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks,
