Exchange Server Sizing - Online Users

I am able to use the Exchange server sizing spreadsheet to determine server size, disk IOPS, memory capacity but it assumes that all users are in cached mode.  How do I calculate if all of my users are using online mode.  This is a setup where
we cannot use cached mode but we are having trouble sizing it properly.

Hi David,
as far as I know there is no detailed sheet to calculate the IOPS for online mode users based on the role requirements calculator.
Nevertheless you still can calculate estimated IOPS as per
http://blogs.technet.com/b/greg_katz_-_messaging_in_education/archive/2008/05/12/cached-mode.aspx , there is assumed online Clients required 1.5 x IOPS compared to cached mode clients. (From my personal experience, it's more 2x IOPS.)
So you can still create the IOPS profile as shown at
http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ee832791(v=exchg.141).aspx and use that value for your Input to cell "IOPS Profile / Mailbox" on the role requirements sheet. Use the IOPS Multipülication factor to control that.

  • Exchange Server 2007 OWA users can receive email but can't send

    Hi,
I have an Exchange server 2007 in an SBS 2008 environment with POP3 connector configured and working fine , smtp send mail connector configured.
Now users can connect to OWA, receive email but cant not send.
smtp connector works fine from Outlook client. Tried to track the emails from exchange server management console and I get the
    SEND DELIVER SUBMIT TRANSFER.
The emails go to the sent items folder, but it never reach the recipients.
Have been troubleshooting for a while without succes. Any help will be most appreciated.
    Regards

POP3 is a single mailbox client mail retrieval protocol, not a mail transport protocol.
Any attempt to use it as a mail transport protocol is a great big kludge.
Exchange is designed to connect to the Internet using SMTP.
No version of Exchange has a POP3 connector.
I recommend that you post this in the SBS Forum:  http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en/smallbusinessserver/threads

  • Create users in Oracle for exchange server

    Hi everyone!
I would like to know if Oracle Communications Messaging Exchange Server works just like Exchange Server.
How can the users I create in Oracle be used in Exchange server instead of users being created again in Exchange Server?
Hope to get some enlightenment on this issue.
    Thanks.

If publishing to a .Mac space, you can password
    protect the site, and blog.
It'll still only allow for comments, rather than
allowing users to create new blog entries, but at
leat you'll know it's by one of those you have
    allowed in.
I expected something like that to be honest with you, the whole point is to have the website open and at the same time use several users to work on it, apparently it is not possible, I will send a new form to request an improvement on iWeb for that.

  • A problem with Win 7 Pro, Outlook Web Access based on Exchange Server 2003, and two different domains

    Dear Microsoft Support,
    As mentioned in the title,
I have two domains. One is Domain A at HQ. The other one is Domain A at branch office. A laptop having Win 7 Pro OS is a client of Domain A. The Domain A has Exchange Server 2003. Users of Domain B get connected to Exchange Server for email services. In
all clients of the Domain B, IP address of the email server added in C:\Windows\System 32\drivers\etc\host file.
Whereas in the clients of Domain A it was not done, because all the servers including the email server belong to the Domain A.
Now, a user with Domain A's client (it is a laptop) came to Branch office and wanted to access the Outlook (using Outlook Web Access). since there is no IP address added in the Host file of the laptop, connectivity to email is not possible. When I try to
add the IP address, I was not able to do so due to Domain A's security reasons.
So, let me know, is there a way out to add the IP address in the host file of the Domain A's client.
    Thanks in advance.
    Ravi Sekhar Modukuru

I would suggest adding the mailserver address in Domain B's DNS. Would that be possible?
I agree. The correct solution in this case (since it appears you already have a two-way Domain Trust in place) is to properly configure DNS in Domain 'B' to be a secondary of Domain 'A' and completely eliminate the need to maintain the HOSTS file.

  • Exchange Server 2013 Update from to CU3 to CU8 stuck, Exchange completely down

    Hello,
We tried to update a Exchange 2013 server to CU8 because we needed support from Microsoft (certificate revoked, so OWA not working anymore) and they could only help us after updating to CU8 first. The problem is that the update got stuck and now Exchange

    Hello Gadget,
Please find the solution as follows
This error is concern about WMSVC certificate which was deleted, we could refer to the following steps:
1- Go to IIS Manager and select server certificate,
    2- Select “Create Self-Signed Certificate”,
3- For Server 2012 in the Friendly Name Field type: WMSVC and select the personal (certificate Store),
4- Now go to ” Management Service”,
5- From SSL Certificate choose the newly create “WMSVC” Self-Signed Certificate,
    6- Apply,
7- Now  start service of “Web Management service”.

  • Is there any way to block accessing Exchange server

    Hello,
We are using iPhone as a business phone to
    access Exchange server using ActiveSync.
Is there any way to block non-company, in
other words private iPhone, iPhone to access
    Exchange Server?
Some users have 2 iPhones (1 provided by our
company, 1 purchased by himself/herself as
    a his/her private phone).
We would like to block those non-company iPhone.
If there is a way(s), please let me know!!
Thank you very much in advance.
    Regards,
    Tak

Block/Delete will appear if "Enforce Password on Device" is NOT ticked in ESM at the time when that particular iPhone (or other smartphone) was first joined to EAS.
Wipe/Delete will appear if "Enforce Password on Device" IS TICKED in ESM at the time when that particular iPhone (or other smartphone) was first joined to EAS.
The only difference is, if you first have "Enforce..." ticked and you join phones A,B,C, - they will always have WIPE next to that phone even if X months down the line, you untick "Enfore...".
If at that point (after unticking "Enforce..") you join phones D,E,F, they will have BLOCK next to their phone and always will have until you tick the "Enforce..." again and the user will be prompted to input a code when they next sync.
Again I repeat, the 'Lock code' when inputted into the phone acts as an agreement between the user & exchange that exchange has permission to wipe the phone remotely. Without that agreement ("Enforce..."), you should not have the WIPE function on those particular phones.
    Hope that makes sense.

  • Hide exchange server FQDN

I have a requirement where the customer wants to hide the exchange server FQDN from user profiles for some users. MOstly users using outlook anywhere but the customer does not want the exchange server name to appear in the account in outlook.
It is an acquisition scenario where company1 has acquired company2. They don't want company2 users to be able to see the exchange server name, when they connect via outlook anywhere. They also want GAL segmentation but that's another subject. For this question
I just want to know if there is anyway that exchange server name does not appear in client profile?
The server is exchange 2010 in single server mode with all the roles on one server. The server name is something like exchsvr.company1.com . The idea is to hide the "company1" part and have some different FQDN appear. How can I make sure it does
not appear for select users and they see something else instead? It would also be OK if ALL users see something different, just not the actual server name (FQDN). Can I use some other alias for this or some other method?

    Hi,
As far as I know, to hide the domain name for external Outlook Anywhere clients, we can depend on rewriting address on Edge server.

  • Exchange server - not available post files

    Hello!
In Microsoft Outlook is possible to post Office files - File - Send To - Exchange folder
After sync my IPAD with exchange, I can't see those files on IPAD.
    Could be an IOS limitation?
    Catalin

    Hi,
    Thank you for you support.
Kindly find the current mail server scenario following
gmail Google Apps - Currently 70% of users are using
Company Exchange server -  Currently 30% of users are using
    Active Directory - Windows server 2008 R2
    My Question :
All users IDs are available in AD who is using gmail Google Apps as well as MS Exchange. Currently we have created the mail box in Exchange server for
30% users only. these users information has updated from user object in AD to Exchange server without any issue. Other 70% users mailbox has been created in Google Apps, also these users ID object created in AD. But these
70% users details is not updating in Exchange server though user object. We have to create the contacts also for these 70% users in AD to get the information in Exchange server.
Can you please tell me is there any possible way to update these user information in Exchange server without creating the contact in AD.
Kindly update me if you have any queries..
    Hi AditionalDC,
Exchange server read user information from Active Directory, so you could update 70% users details to Active Directory from , then Active Directory will sync user details to Exchange.
    Best regard,
    Jim

  • Autodiscovery and coexistence of two different exchange server

    Hi all,
I'm trying to understand how autodiscovery works during coexistence of two different exchange server.
We have one AD server and two different Exchange server and two users (A and B).
The mailbox of user A is in Exchange server ONE
The mailbox of user B is in Exchange server TWO
They are creating for the first time their profile in outlook. How autodiscover works in this scenario?
Maybe the information are too few but I want to understand if in a scenario like this, Autodiscover can work with appropriate configuration or there is now way to use autodiscovery.
    Thank you
    Best Regards
    Riccardo

    Hi
    Riccardo,
You dont need to worry about autodiscover if both are in the same forest.
You just point your autodiscover to one of the server. It will proxy to the right server.
For example if your autodiscover pointed to ServerONE and when a request comes from UserB, ServerONE will
    proxy  the request to ServerTWO.
Normally all point autodiscover to the internet facing server.
    Thanks, MAS

  • APEX and Exchange Server

How easy/difficult is it to configure APEX with Exchange server? I know it's possible to simply use an smtp server for emails however we would like to pull our contacts from the exchange server so a user can search for a contact, which will then display a list of contacts found and he can then choose the contact to send the email to.
    Cheers

    Hello,
What you're asking for is possible, but stand-by for lots of head scratching and custom coding.
Are the contacts internal or also external? (I'm wondering whether you also store your contacts in an LDAP server which might simplify the task slightly).

  • Exchange Server 2013 - Sizing

Can some please provide me Exchange server 2013 sizing for 180 Mailbox users with mailbox profile size 10 GB With 1 DAG with two mailbox servers.
Please provide for Exchange Server in Virtual environment.
I have already created a setup on Environment going through test mode.
    Existing Environment
    2 X CAS servers -  2 Core - 4 GB Memory - 500 GB Hard disk space
    2 X Mailbox Server - 2 Core -  12 GB Memory - 1.5 TB disk space
Theses servers are build on VMWare hosted on ESX server
Please provide your feedback for best practice and solution to support 180 Mailbox profile with Mailbox size limit 10 GB
    Thanks in adavance
    Benhur
    benhur007

    Hi Benhur,
we have over one thousand mailboxes ( inc. room, shared, calendar and so on).We only have 2 servers With Mailbox and CAS role.No need to seperate those roles if you really dont have to.2013 CAs only Proxy/redirect requests and nothing is stored (other that
daily performance log and iis log).C: drive for Exchange install i recomend 70gb on each server.
When it comes to mailbox database, are you planning to use Public folders? In 2013 Public folders can be stored on seperate databases.
Also it is not recomended to have Exchange and mailbox database on same physical disk,so you should seperate those out and expand over time without taking Down the server.
In easy sample the server can look like this:
    C: Install Exchange  70GB
D: Database files 1GB ( here you map multiple databases in different folders,so it look like D:\DB01,D:\DB02,D:\DB03 and so on.And each folder is an own 300 gb disk that you Mount into one of these folders at time.Path and name have to be identical on both
    servers when setting up DAG.)
E: Log files 1GB ( here you map multiple databases in different folders,so it look like E:\LOG01,E:\LOG02,E:\LOG03 and so on.And each folder is its own 70 gb disk that you Mount into one of these folders at time.Path and name have to be identical on
both servers when setting up DAG.)
Approx 300GB each database and 70 gb each log(for each database) should be fine.
10gb database pr user can cause performance issue if they are working online (Citrix or other apps),if cache locally it might take time if they are not inside worknetwork.
Dont forget that you should also have your own replication network or it will consume bandwidth when you move over multiple users to different databases.
    Hope this helps!

  • Migration of Unity users from MS Exchange server 2007 to 2010

    Hi,
I am having Unity 7.0 with MS Exchange server 2007,now want to transfer the users and Unity mailboxes to MS Exchange server 2010. Want to know the procedure. Can anyone help me out?

The way you're doing it has two very high hurdles.
First, you have to get the data out of an offline server and into Office 365.  That's hardly a trivial task.  If the server were online and reachable by the Internet you could use a move request or a third-party tool like MigrationWiz.
Second, if you do get the mail moved, you will want to synchronize the legacyExchangeDN attribute from the old organization into an X500 proxy address in Office 365 for all mailboxes to preserve mail replyability.
