Exchanging my ipad 3 because of home button?

so i bought the new ipad 3 today at an apple store and i noticed that the home button is pushed in and wiggles a little bit, it is functional but it bothers me, so my question is: will it be possible for me to get it exchanged just for that reason?, and if they exchange it would i get a new one or a refurbished ipad?

It can be replaced for free under warranty.
Sometimes new, sometimes refurbished. You can ask them if it is new or not; they can tell by the serial number.

Is there any other way to reset my ipod touch? I am asking because my home button is broken.

    If you mean this
    - Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    then no
To place the iPod in recovery mode yo can use:
RecBoot: Easy Way to Put iPhone into Recovery Mode
    for a PC
    and
    The Firmware Umbrella - TinyUmbrella
    For a PC or MAC

  • My iphone 4 will not turn on. I can not soft reset because my home button is broken. Any suggestions?

My iphone 4 suddenly died on me. It had a good amount of battery life left. I cannot soft reset because my home button does not work. Is there a way to reboot without the method of holding the two buttons? I am thinking that letting the battery die will work but I assume it will take a long time since the phone is off. Any other way to get it to turn back on/rest?

Plug it into the wall charger or to your computer with iTunes.

  • On iOS 5 for iPad, is there a home button key on the Apple Bluetooth Keyboard that will allow you to go to the home screen or multitask? Perhaps by pressing the escape key or something?

Sorry, but no one who would know can discuss unreleased software such as iOS 5 in these forums. We'll have to wait, probably for the official release, before such details will be known.

    - See if placing the iPod in recovery mode with this program will allow a restore.
RecBoot: Easy Way to Put iPhone into Recovery Mode
    - Next let the battery fully drain. After charging for at least an hour try again.

  • My itouch won't turn on at all and i cant restart it because the home button doesn't work. what do I do?

My itouch (5th gen. 32GB)  was working just fine, with a full battery. I set it down, and 15 minutes later it didn't turn on. I brought it back home to see if it needed to be charged for some reson, but it was still pitch black. I plugged it into the computer to see if anything would happen but nothing did. I know you can reboot/ restart it by holding the power and home button at the same time for a few seconds, but my home button is broken... I have no clue what to do...

If your iPod Touch, iPhone, or iPad is Broken
Apple does not fix iDevices. Instead, they exchange yours for a refurbished or new replacement depending upon the age of your device and refurbished inventories. On rare occasions when there are no longer refurbished units for your older model, they may replace it with the next newer model.
ATTN: Beginning July 2013 Apple Stores are now equipped to do screen repairs/replacements in-house on iPhone 5 and 5C. In some cases while you wait. According to Apple this is the beginning of equipping Apple Stores with the resources needed to do most repairs for iPhones, iPads, and iPod Touches that would not require major replacements. Later in the year the services may be extended as Apple Stores become equipped and staffed with the proper repair expertise. So, if you need a screen repaired or a broken screen replaced or have your stuck Home button fixed, call your local Apple Store to see if they are now doing these in-house.

  • Will Apple replace my brand new iPad 2 if the home button doesn't work?

I recently got a brand new iPad 2 and as soon as I opened up and set it up I realized the home button didn''t work. However, sometimes the home button will start working and within minutes will stop again. I know this isn't normal for a brand new device.
My iPad is still in warranty, so I'm wondering if I take it to the genius bar will they replace it?

yes that's what happened to my ipod touch and they replaced it

    Hello there, Twicetwins.
The following Knowledge Base article offers up how to change the Accessibility Shortcut for your Home Button, on the iPad:
Accessibility Shortcut - iPad User Guide
    http://help.apple.com/ipad/7/#/iPad9a245f9e
Use the Accessibility Shortcut. Press the Home button quickly three times to turn any of these features on or off:
    VoiceOver
    Invert Colors
    Zoom
Guided Access (The shortcut starts Guided Access if it’s already turned on. See Guided Access.)
    Switch Control
    AssistiveTouch

  • IPad "Dead Zone" near Home button

In certain apps, my iPad screen has an unresponsive area about an inch or more along the edge closest to the Home button. I need to rotate the screen orientation so that controls I want to interact with ware out of this dead zone. For some of my friends experiencing this same issue, the problem mysteriously "fixed" itself one day with no update to the app nor iOS version. Most people I know using the app have never had this problem. Several people I know even have the same model and iOS version as me. I just don't get it.
Has anyone ever experienced something like this or know what could cause this? At first I thought it was a software problem, then a hardware config problem, now I'm not sure what it is.

Are you in the US?  If so, google Craigslist, find your local one and do a search for iPad repair, you ought to be able to find something there to help and at a reasonable cost.
Your AppleCare has expired on your iPad 2, so no, the Apple store cannot help you.
If you purchase your next iPad, from say ebay, you can get a TWO YEAR warranty from Square Trade, they are EXCELLENT, I have had a few items under their warranty go bad over the years, I call them, tell them what's wrong, they send me a PRE PAID SHIPPING LABEL, I send the item off, within 7 day my original purchase price is back in my Paypal balance!  I HIGHLY recommend them.

You are going to have to take it to the Apple Store to see if they can do anything for you. The Home button is critical for using your device. You need to get it fixed.

  • I talked to a advisor and she said to back up and restore my ipod because the home button on my ipod touch is not responding so i did and it still does the same thing i would have to press it repeatedly just to close an app

My ipod home button just doesnt respond properly anymore and my head phone jack is still messed up even when i restored everything and went to factory settings so im guessing its a hardware issue and i wanted to know how to send it back for repairs please thank thank you =^.^=

Don't listen to any of them...
Just recalibrate it! I have a similar issue where I kept pressing my home button and nothing worked.
Here are some websites the tell you how to fix it!
    How to recalibrate: http://nealbo.hubpages.com/hub/Recalibrate-Unresponsive-iPhone-Home-Button
    How to fix: http://nealbo.hubpages.com/hub/Fix-a-broken-unresponsive-or-sticky-iPhone-Home-B utton
And if both suggestions don't work, go to settings, General, Acessability, and turn on assistive touch so that a little circle appears in the corner, tap it and tap home to work as your home button!

  • My i phone wont turn on and i cant restart it because the home button doesnt work

What happens if you plug the device into the charger? Does it start? Without a functioning home button, it is impossible to do a reset on the device, which would help it recover from not starting. What model iPhone are you using? Have you thought about getting the home button fixed?
