Exe OK but htm + exe ignores cast and htm + dcr fails

I've published an .exe with a calling .htm file with Director MX.
The .exe runs OK  when double clicked in Windows explorer, but when run from the accompanying .htm the Shockwave player runs the .exe 'OK' but the external cast is ignored.
If I publish it as a .dcr + .htm,  Shockwave produces a message to the effect that the Shockwave movie has problems that prevent playback.
Is this a query for the Shockwave forum or can anyone here help?
Thank you..

Sean, thanks for coming back. Having failed to get the .dcr to run I though running the .exe might give me a clue.
I imagined that the .exe was a chunk of code with the cast members and xtras used internally as required. It hadn't occurred to me that the Shockwave player would be looking at the cast and weeding out the xtras it objected to.
I send out cds to my students with their course material in the form of Director.exes.
The current plan is to put the files on our website for them to access. I thought that there would be problems if we provided exes to download hence  my attempt to let them run the movies from the site via the Shockwave player.
It may be the case, as jchunick suggests, that I have an unsafe Shockwave Xtra.
I'm now looking for a (quick?) means of testing which Xtras the player considers safe.

Have ticked " Sync only ticked songs and videos" but I Tunes is ignoring that and synching evrything leaving me no further capacity. Please help

    Two points to consider:
You have to remember that when you see the option to Sync only ticked songs and videos, iTunes may already have gone past that part of the Sync process. So once you change the setting to Sync only ticked songs and videos, you may need to click on the Sync button in order for a second Sync to take place. On subsequent Syncs, you will not need to do this.
You have actually un-ticked some of the songs in your library, haven't you?

    FORCE IPAD INTO RECOVERY MODE

    3. Plug USB cable into computer's USB port
    4. Hold Home button down and plug the other end of cable into docking port.
DO NOT RELEASE BUTTON until you see picture of iTunes and plug
    5. Release Home button.

    6. iTunes has detected iPad in recovery mode. You must restore this iPad before it can be used with iTunes.
    7. Select "Restore iPad"...
    Note:
    1. Data will be lost if you do not have backup
    2. You must follow step 1 to step 4 VERY CLOSELY.
    3. Repeat the process if necessary.

I have the same problem - every time I close firefox (using either the red x or by selecting file ---> exit) the program appears to close normally, but the firefox.exe *32 process continues to run. If I try to re-open firefox normally I get a message that the program is still running and I need to go into task manager and manually kill the process.
I could also kill the process from the command prompt, but both of those methods are slow and annoying. This issue has only been occurring for the last 24 hours or so; to the best of my knowledge I haven't downloaded any new software or updated any plug-ins that would have caused a switch from firefox's normal awesomeness. Norton doesn't show any new viruses or other nastiness on my computer.
I'm running 64 bit Windows 7 Home Premium edition.

  • Firefox does not open when clicking on the icon, the firefox.exe process consumes 99 % of the CPU and my computer runs slowly.

I have been a happy user of Firefox for many years. Around last April first I opened Firefox and was offered an update to v 4.42.0.0 which I accepted. Installation seemingly went well. I forget now exactly what happened but the result has been that ever since April 1 I haven’t been able to open the Firefox browser when clicking on the Firefox icon. My computer now was running very slowly. I tried to uninstall Firefox, but a popup told me I couldn’t because Firefox was in use. This confused me because I couldn’t see it being used. Only now I have found that on Task Manager processes that “firefox.exe” was consuming 99 % of the CPU. After removing firefox.exe by clicking End Process my computer ran better. I uninstalled Firefox I had on my computer and installed Firefox 5.0. Unfortunately I have the same problems: Firefox does not open when clicking on the icon, the firefox.exe process consumes 99 % of the CPU and my computer runs slowly.

Born2die! Brilliant. I am a desktop clicker and never knew Firefox had a safe mode.
    Thank You!
I was unable to start in safe mode initially. The second time I disabled all of the Add-Ons and she started up just fine. I enabled them one by one hoping to track down the culprit but the problem seems to have gone away.
BTW I am running ver. 3.6.8 (in response to cor-el's earlier post) and
Firefox is in the process of downloading 3.6.10 (which I am starting to think may have been what caused this whole problem to begin with)
Incidentally, whats up with all of the Java Console Add Ons?
    I have:
Java Console 6.0.11, Java Console 6.0.13, Java Console 6.0.15
Java Console 6.0.17, Java Console 6.0.20, and Java Console 6.0.21
What are they? Do I need them? Can I uninstall them? Is this due to using Open Office?
Also, .NET Framework 0.0.0 Should I uninstall it?

  • Is it possible to create a vi-file in an .exe file with labview 6.1i? and how to create it?

    Hello,
I want to create a vi-file into an exe-file but don't know how to do it with labview 6.1i.
Maybe somebody here can give me hints to do it!
    thank you very much!

To build EXEs you need the application builder. To see if you have it, open the tools menu. If you have an option named "Build application or shared library", you're OK. Just open it and you can set up your app there. To run this application, a computer would have to have the LV run-time engine, which can be downloaded from the NI site. For the first time you deploy the app, you should use the app builder to create an installer, which will install the run-time engine as well as your app.
If you don't have it you can purchase it seperately from NI.Message Edited by tst on 03-17-2005 10:42 AM

What version of Adobe Reader have you installed on your Mac?
Please try installing on a different Admin user account and check if that makes a difference.

  • When exiting firefox the GUI shuts down but firefox.exe is sill running

Firefox starts and runs fine, but when time to exit, the GUI shuts down while firefox.exe is still running using 50% of possessor resources. I have to go into Windows Task Manager under processes and end program from there. Other wise firefox.exe will continue to run using more and more memory. If I try to start FireFox, then I get "Firefox already running".
Once I shut down firefox.exe with the Task Manger, Firefox will restart and run just fine.

Plug-in and tasks started by Firefox may continue after attempting to close Firefox. The "X" in the upper right-hand corner closes the Window (same as Ctrl+Shift+W) but even if it is the last Firefox window, it does not necessarily close Firefox .
The only proper way to exit Firefox is to use Exit through the File menu, not the "X" in the upper right corner of last Firefox window.
In 4.0 that would be Alt+F then X

  • Probelm with .swf but not .exe or Test Movie?

I've created this project that works perfectly when I view it through "test movie" (CTRL+Enter) and when I publish it to an .exe file - but when I view the .swf it doesn't work correctly.
    I am using Flash CS3 - actionscript 2 - Flash Player 8
In my project I have controls that allow me to set the brightness and contrast of a movieclip, but when I view the .swf and I click on other buttons (unrelated to contrast and brightness), the contrast and brightness of my movieclip get reset. This does not happen when viewing the .exe or in Test Movie mode.
I would greatly appreciate any help - thanks!

If your calling that action from within your movieClip, be
aware that it's looking for frame "cPause" in the root level, not
in your movieClip. And, if you load the SWF into another "shell"
SWF, the shell will become the root, and it will look for cPause
there. If cPause is in your movieClip, then take off
    "_root".

  • Firefox can't load a Siemens Gigaset network camera but IE8 can. There is an error in the code from the cam. Could Firefox ignore this and display the image anyway ? eg. with Ignore / Abort.

I run Windows-XP SP3 and I can't get the image from a Siemans Gigaset cam. There is an error in the cam code (a lacking rutine) . IE8 ignores this and displays the image anyway.
Is it possible to get a notification like Ignore/Abort/ Continue ???

Does the documentation for that camera, or for the software with it, say anything about ActiveX or about H.264?
If so, it isn't compatible with Firefox - it doesn't do ActiveX and it doesn't support H.264 in the HTML5 standard. Microsoft just released a plugin for Firefox that adds H.264 support to Firefox, but IIRC that only covers Windows 7 - not WinXP.

  • HT2305 I downloaded, and have two .msi files and one setupadmin.exe file. I click the latter and nothing happens?

I downloaded 2 updates (download only), and there's two  .msi files and one setupadmin.exe file. I click the latter and nothing happens? How am I meant to do install these updates?

Sorry I forgot to mention I was doing this on a PC with Vista (the heading was Windows so I didn't bother to mention this). Anyway by trial and error I found that you can click on the .msi files to install them. The files were downlads of updates to iTunes and iCloud Control Panel.

You get that message any time you download an executable file. It is safe to open as long as you download from http://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/new/

Aperture Help needed: Adjustment panel is blank, although metadata and library panels normal.  Thumbnails appear normal but when RAW (CR2) file is loaded, it appears with a dark blue cast, and does not load into the adjustment panel, and is not adjustable. Suggestions please

You may need to register your camera with the the launch service database again, see this post by Alan Roseman: Re: Aperture 3 preview of raw file greenish
There is a "typo" in the command given in the link above, so read also the following posts on how to correctly enter the command and how the fix is supposed to work
    Good luck.
Post back, if this does not help.

    Hello ckkeith65
If you are having issues with AppleMobileDeviceHelper.exe then you would need to uninstall iTunes and its associated software in the order listed in the article below and then reinstall iTunes, as it is part of the installer file.

Open the Java pane in System Preferences. A separate application will launch. In the Security tab, check the box marked
Enable Java content in the browser
If necessary, adjust the Security Level slider, but if you must reduce the level, do so only temporarily and only if you are absolutely sure of what you're doing. Don't do this to play a game or because a stranger on the Internet asked you to. Java can be dangerous.
If your browser is Safari, you may also need to make changes to the plugin settings in the Security tab of its preferences window.
