Exploding Pics

First post to this forum and I haven't looked for a way to search it, so if I'm asking a common question . . ..
When I now double click a photo to enlarge it, it explodes. There is a pause and then a black screen with a gray-white circle in the middle and w/in that a black exclamation point.
What up with that?

It means that the iPhoto database has lost the connection between the Thumbnail and the photo - have you made any changes of any sort to the contents of the iPhoto library?
If you have then you need to load a backup or start over
If you have not try launching iPhoto while depressing the option and command keys and rebuilding the library from the last automatic database backup

  • Pics too large to view!

    Hello,
Can anyone tell me please how to send pics in email? I find attatching them easy, and viewing on my Powerbook they fit in the email perfectly, ie. I can see the whole pic in the width of the email. But when sent to a PC friends are receiving them as a massive exploded view which they can only scroll around to view the parts of an image! File sizes are low res jpegs some even using Adobe Photoshop CS2 "Save for Web" function. Any help greatly appreciated.

Exactly. Like a free ride, when you've already paid.
    > Hey Steve. Long time no see... :) Next time

I hope "next time" isn't too far off. I'm telling
you, I'll have to plan a trip to France sometime
soon... :o) Nice pictures, by the way.Scheduled so far is 2008. I'd be more than happy to welcome you here. The border isn't far away from my place, we could go and have some German beer, too. :) And thanks. Did I mention that you don't look at all like the pic on your blog?

  • MacBook Air battery exploding/expanding

    Hi,
I'm based in Dublin, Ireland and have a 1st Gen MacBookAir with an exploding/expanding battery. See attached pics below.  My warranty is expired but I've seen this issue listed in a number of other posts. Looks like a product defect that should be recalled. I was advised to remove it ASAP before it did further damage to the case and motherboard, or worse. Other than buying a new battery has anyone out there any advise on who in Apple  to contact  as my MacBookAir is out of warranty. Thanks

Did you press the representative for outlining a scenario for which the user could have possibly contributed to the battery's demise?
Or, was it pointed out to you that there is any documented directive from Apple that a prophylactic replacement of the battery should be implemented at a given interval?
I fount eh following article regarding lithium batteries, and possible causes for swelling, and I though the article was particularly relevant. http://batteryuniversity.com/learn/article/charging_lithium_ion_batteries
It would seem that a possible explanation of a cause is overcharging. If indeed true, then the only apparent safeguard against this would be a working functional SMC. Unless the battery itself has a safeguard, which could have failed as well. Presuming that the SMC is reset with the installation of a new battery, such evidence of it's cause would then be moot, as a reset would likely resume normal operation.
    Just food for thought.
Apple's silence on the cause and effect here is probably the biggest problem. As they are in a far better position to nail down the cause, and an effective prevention remedy.

  • My IPOD nano Exploded

Is there something wrong with the battery they put on the first gen ipod nano. mine just got blown to pieces.
I was just charging it on my Laptop then it suddenly sparks and it caught fire. even the clicking wheel got melted.
and the back of the ipod split open.
am i the first to experience this flaw! *im so disappointed with that*.
    What should i do?
*if you wanna see the pic go to* - http://www.flickr.com/photos/23960698@N02/

First, I'm sorry to hear of your exploding ipod. That's terrible! I'm just glad to hear that you weren't holding it at the time!
Second, regardless of your warranty status, call apple or take the ipod to an apple store if possible. I have heard of the Lithium Ion batteries exploding (not in iPods, but cameras and computers), which is what the iPod uses. I have heard of Apple helping people out with things like this even out of warranty. It doesn't hurt to ask. Explain to the person on the phone (if you call) exactly what you've posted and offer the pictures.
Good luck and please post back whatever happens

  • My MacBook almost exploded like Dell.

I purchased my my MacBook in mid-June. I noticed this on July 4th after I watched a exploding Dell on YouTube and made me pay attention to the battery part. Guess what? the battery is warped on my MacBook! Looked like it's about to either explode or leaking some kind of stuff. (I posted some pics here for you guys to take a look at it: http://www.flickr.com/photos/30355162@N00/)
Immediately I took my MacBook into Apple Store on July 4th. Luckily, after about half hr of waiting and talking to the support at Genius Bar, they swapped out my battery from another MacBook (because I had to leave the country within 2 days and they said that was the fastest way for me to get a new battery).
Fortunately, the battery looks ok so far. Just want to let you guys know watch out on the bad batch of battery. Especially the weather is so hot right now. I purchased a USB cooling pad for my MacBook and it's working great too.
    MacBook   Mac OS X (10.4.7)

swelling battery is not the first cae you posted. it's already happened like macbook pro. but I guess only few of them have defective. don't worry about temperature. I am in Las Vegas right now. I carry it in my bag all day long. you know. here is like 110F everyday. but I carry, and use it. no problem. of course, in the hotel. or casino.

  • I am having macbook air recently my iphotos did not open and was showing report apple and reopen but i came to know that by pressing alt and iphotos i open an new photo library and stored the pics but now how can i get the pics which i had in the earlier

i am having macbook air recently my iphotos did not open and was showing report apple and reopen but i came to know that by pressing alt and iphotos i open an new photo library and stored the pics but now how can i get the pics which i had in the earlier photo please help me to recover my photos

    Well I'll guess you're using iPhoto 11:
    Option 1
Back Up and try rebuild the library: hold down the command and option (or alt) keys while launching iPhoto. Use the resulting dialogue to rebuild. Choose to Repair Database. If that doesn't help, then try again, this time using Rebuild Database.
    If that fails:
    Option 2
Download iPhoto Library Manager and use its rebuild function. (In early versions of Library Manager it's the File -> Rebuild command. In later versions it's under the Library menu.)
This will create an entirely new library. It will then copy (or try to) your photos and all the associated metadata and versions to this new Library, and arrange it as close as it can to what you had in the damaged Library. It does this based on information it finds in the iPhoto sharing mechanism - but that means that things not shared won't be there, so no slideshows, books or calendars, for instance - but it should get all your events, albums and keywords, faces and places back.
Because this process creates an entirely new library and leaves your old one untouched, it is non-destructive, and if you're not happy with the results you can simply return to your old one.
    Regards
    TD

  • Internet Problem - One site will load, another won't. Then mintues later, the site that previously would load won't and the one that wouldn't will. I'm also pulling up a lot of pages in all text. Pics won't load or only one will load and the rest won't...

Several weeks ago, I began to have some very strange internet connection issues. All the lights on my modem stay on and my computer shows full wi-fi signal, but I suddenly I won't be able to load any pages. Other times, I'll be able to load pages from one site, but not another. It's not the same sites all the time though.... sometimes I'll be able to load pages from one site and not another, and then 5 minutes later it'll switch and I'll be able to load pages from the site I previously couldn't and I won't be able to load pages from the site I previously could. A lot of pages are coming up just text with no pics... and then 5 mintues later that site will load normally and another site will come up just text. It does the same thing whether I'm connecting wirelessly or via an ethernet cable. It also doesn't matter which browser I use (I've tried Safari, Chrome, and Firefox). Although, once in a while when using chrome, I get a DNS error page instead of the usual 'cannot find server'. I contacted my service provider and I'm not losing speed or dropping packets. According to them, the problem I'm having is very strange since diagnostic tests show no problems at all. Perhaps someone has run into this before and has a suggestion?

Then if you have tried all the browsers try connecting the system to yoour router with an Ethernet cable and turn WiFi off. If you have the same problem then it more then likely after your computer, Router or modem or connection from your ISP.
If you get good browsing with the Ethernet cable then it is either the WiFi card in your Mac or the WiFi system in your router.

  • Is there a way to create a custom screensaver with pics/slides that display for different amounts of time?

Is there a way to create a custom screensaver with pics/slides that display for different amounts of time? Or even add a "video slide" into the screensaver?
My business has 3 TVs displayed in our lobby, each with its own apple TV and they are all linked to the same photo stream. Currently the Atv screensaver displays the photostream pictures of our products for the default 3 seconds. We just added pics/slides that now display messages and useful info for our customers but I want that info to be displayed for a longer period of time than the pictures to give people a chance to read it.
I tried using flickr and powerpoint as a work around but no luck.  I created a slide in powerpoint with play length of 15 secs and saved it as a wmv file.  I added that file to a "screensaver" set in flickr and pointed the Atv screensaver to that flickr set.  It still displays everything, pics and the wmv file at the default 3 sec.
I know I can increase the duration of all pics in the screensaver to display for longer but the goal is to have the pics display at 3 secs and the info slides to display at 15 secs.

    Welcome to the Apple Community.
    No that's not possible.
If you have any suggestions that you think might enhance the Apple TV you can send Apple your feedback here

Add new photo to existing calendar folder in iPhoto
I am making a calendar in iPhoto, picking photos from a folder, let's call it "2011 Pics," in iPhoto. After arranging all the photos and captions I decided I wanted to insert a new photo -- one that was not in "2011 Pics." So I inserted it into the folder, but the picture does not show up on the scrolling menu of pictures at the left of the calendar-making page. This happened last year and in frustration I started all over again. But surely there is a way to add a new picture to a calendar that is already laid out.

Yes, the Old Master file has a folder for each year where I find all photos from that specific year. I am attaching a screen shot of the file.
In the meantime i have managed to download all photos (it did not download any video files though in mpg, avi, 3gp, m4v,mp4 and mov format) to a new iphoto library. Unfortunately the photos are quite mixed and often doubled up. I ma considering to purchase iphoto library which checks all duplicates in iphoto. this will save me a lot of time. What do you think?

  • How do I add pics from my PC to my phone in several folders?

I would like to find a simple tutorial for this function but all the tutorials deal with music and I have ZERO interest in putting music on my phone. I would like to put pictures from my PC on my phone. I have managed to transfer entire folders several times but each time it deletes the previous folder. I would also like to know how to add a single photo to an existing folder once I have created the folder.
There is no need for me to edit because my pics are already edited and the way I wish them to appear.

This tutorial is very straight forward. http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4236
Keep in mind you cannot select multiple folders to sync, iTunes will do exactly what you describe.
What you can do is sync one folder and all the contents of that folder will sync.  In other words, create a folder with all the pics you want synced, you can seperate them into subfolders and then select that "master" folder as your sync point.

  • How can I highlight more than one pic at a time?

First of all, THANKS for anyone that may answer since APPLE obviously has no desire to get off their ***** and help their customers.
About ten days ago I was prompted to install apples new operating system. So of course I clicked OK, idiot that I am!
Now I'm stuck with this new piece of **** operating system that I wish I could uninstall.
    ANYWAY,
I upload a lot of pix for stuff I sell on EBay, sometimes 3-400 at a time. When I delete photos it's usually 1,000 at a time, and I assure you I'm not exaggerating. Up until now I was able to touch the END pic and swipe the whole horizontal row with two fingertips and the whole row of 7 would get checked. With the new ios7 I am unable to do it anymore (yet ANOTHER reason I don't want this 'improved' OS).
Does ANYONE know of a way to highlight more than one pic at a time?? Remember the old windows system where you could click one pic, then hit SHIFT and click a lower one and it would highlight them all, in between, for a quick delete?
There MUST be a way to delete, or rather highlight (or CHECK) more than one pic at a time? Anyone?
    THANKS, Rich

Yes, I know the photos stored on the device... But which app are you accessing the photos with? Which app do you want to be able to highlight more than one pic at a time in?
There are literally thosands of apps that access the iOS Photo Library - which one(s) are you using?

  • TS3697 I am receiving an error message(iTunes will no longer sync photos to the iPhone "Peter's iPhone". Do you want to keep or remove photos previously synced to your iPhone") I am trying to download pics from my computer to my iPhone. Any ideas? Peter

When I went to download some pics (originally taken with my iphone 4S) from my computer back to my iPhone I got the following error message: "iTunes will no longer sync photos to the iPhone "Peter's iPhone". Do you want to keep or remove photos previosly synced to your iPhone?"
Coincidentally, my wife just purchased an iPhone 4S and syncs to iTunes on the same computer.
    Any ideas?
    Peter

The "best" way to handle it, if you want to keep everything separate, is to create separate user accounts on the computer. make sure you log into your account on the computer before you attempt to sync your phone and log out when you're done using the computer.
Though it's possible to sync both of them to the same iTunes library, and even share an account for the iTunes store, you're inviting confusion and possible data loss (as you've discovered already). Best to just use separate user accounts on the computer. That also gives you the benefit of not polluting the other persons browser favorites, contacts, etc.
