Export and Import Computer Groups

Two Monday mornings in a row the Open Directory on our Intel-based Xserve's Mac OS X 10.5.7 Server had failed. This would mean that users who were supposed to have specific access right to folders and share points on other Xserve file servers couldn't get their files or had full access instead of restricted access. The first Monday a restart resolved the issue. The second Monday a restart did not resolve the issue and we opened a case with AppleCare Enterprise Support. We got it up and running again but it failed on Friday during the day. Another call the AppleCare Enterprise Support had me export all my users, user groups, computers and computer groups as a backup.
In the end, I had to do an erase and install of Mac OS X 10.5 server and I updated right to 10.5.8. AppleCare pointed me to the (now Snow Leopard) documentation and told me that now that the server was running and nothing was "broken" and they could not continue to support me. It was up to me to figure out how to restore everything from the documentation. Unfortunately, that document has NOTHING in it about restoring computers or computer groups. It only documents users and user groups. Our user groups were restored with the import of the previously exported list. However, all of the computers in our computer groups appear in the membership list as "Not Found". The preferences/settings for the group were restored but are not being applied to any computers. This means that portable users probably no longer have "mobile" accounts so they can log in off the network and now the Software Update is wide open (although most users are not administrators).
Is there some trick I'm missing to get the computers back into their groups automatically? I can add them manually but I have 400 and can't tell from the list of workstation numbers which are laptops and which are desktops.

If it doesn't work, as a workaround, we can configure the new WSUS server as the replica server of the existing WSUS server. After the synchronization, change the server mode to stand alone.

I have a query regarding the export and import options for "Computer Groups" and "Patch Approvals" in WSUS 4.0.
In WSUS 3.2 once we install WSUS 3.0 API Samples and Tools, we get "WSUSMigrationExport" and "WSUSMigrationImport" tools under
C:\Program Files\Update Services 3.0 API Samples and Tools\WsusMigrate\ folder.
Using the 'WSUSMigrationExport' tool we can export the Computer Groups and the Patch Approvals in a XML file. And using the 'WSUSMigrationImport' tool we can import the 'Computer Groups' and the 'Patch Approvals' from that XML file into a different WSUS
3.2 server. We can run the import tool as below:
a. Run command prompt as administrator.
b. In the command prompt, go to C:\Program Files (x86)\Update Services 3.0 API Samples ans Tools\ WsusMigrate\WsusMigrationImport
c. Type WsusMigrationImport filename.xml TargetGroups None. Press enter; this will import Computer Groups to the WSUS 3.2 server.
Type WsusMigrationImport filename.xml Approvals None. Press enter; this will import "Patch Approvals" to the WSUS 3.2 server.
This is easy and useful.
Now, for WSUS 4.0 I did not find "WSUS
4.0 API Samples and Tools". So I installed "WSUS 3.0 API Samples and Tools" in my WSUS 4.0 server. And tried to import a valid XML file in the above mentioned process. But the command returned an error.
The error says the "Microsoft.UpdateService.Administration.dll" file was not found.
I further searched in the internet about this issue and I found that the "WSUS 3.0 API Samples and Tools" is not supported in WSUS 4.0 as the .net framework used in "WSUS 3.0 API Samples and Tools" is 2.0 and WSUS 4.0 uses .net Framework
4.5.
So, Here are my questions.
1. Is it correct that "WSUS 3.0 API Samples and Tools" is not supported in WSUS 4.0?
2. Is "WSUS 4.0 API Samples and Tools" available?
3. Is there any alternative way in WSUS 4.0 to export and import XML file consisting "Computer Groups" and "Patch Approvals" configurations?

I found that during my import, it asked me to provide "substitutions".
Once I click, "Cancel Substitutions", the other data is there.
I think duirng my previous import, I clicked on "Next" too soon..

Exporting and Importing Logic groups

Hello, I am creating a logic group that is quite long in my UAT application, but once it works properly I need to have it aslo in my Production application, However I don't fancy recreating the 95 lines of complex logic.
Is there a way to export the Logic group from the UAT and import them in the Prod ?

There is an Export/Import command in the File menu. I have only used it for the entire app, but there is probably a way to just do pieces.

How to export and import connection groups

as the actual sqldeveloper kills the connection.xml file quite frequently i always back it up in another place. As I have more than 30 connections, i group them together in connection groups. After reimporting the connections, the groups are gone.
Where is the grouping information stored and how can i back up this information.

I don't think there is any way to back this up through the product (as the folders are stored separately from the connections), but the product-preferences.xml file in the C:\Documents and Settings\<user>\Application Data\SQL Developer\system1.5.3.57.83\o.sqldeveloper.11.1.1.57.83 directory (Win XP SP2 and SQL Dev 1.5.3) has the following details (amongst the other preferences):

From the "source" computer do this:
1) Open SQLDeveloper.
2) Right click on the main connections node and choose export connections.
3) Select the connections you want exported and choose a file name and location to save them.
4) Save the file by clicking OK then copy it to the destination PC.
On the "destination" PC assuming you have already installed SQLDeveloper do this:
1) Open SQLDeveloper.
2) Right click on the main connections node and choose import connections.
3) Browse to the connections file you copied earlier and select the connection you saved.
4) Complete the import by clicking OK and you are done.
Mind that this is sufficient only if you have only basic connections, if you have TNS connections you will also need to manually copy the Tnsnames file from the "source" PC to the "destination" PC and set the
Tools -> Preferences -> Database -> Advanced Tnsnames directory
to the directory where you copied the Tnsnames file.

We are upgrading Essbase, Integration Services from 7x to 9x which are utilizing Hyperion Hub and we are going to follow the method of uninstalling 7x and reinstalling 9x components.
Now my question is, what is the best way of transferring security from 7x to 9x. I heard that Advanced Security Manager can be used to export and import back security. Or is there any
other way of doing it??

You must have selected the wrong option in the Export dialog box. Under "File Settings", you need to select JPG and not "Original". Question 2: I just installed Lightroom and am trying to import my 12k strong photo collection. The Import button pulls in about 2k and then cannot find anymore. The photos are stored in folders by date within a master folder. I am selecting the master folder. I can go in and import the sub-fodler individually. However i do not want to do that 200 times.There is no apparent way to go into the subfolder level and select more than one folder.
In the Import dialog box, on the left, under "Source", there is a checkbox that says "Include SubFolders". Make sure this is checked.

Best way to export and import data from an iPhone app?

How do people here prefer to export and import data from an iPhone app?
For example, suppose your app creates or modifies a plist. It might be nice to provide that plist to the user for separate backup and later allow them to re-import it.
How do people do that? Email the plist to an address? If so, how would one later get it back in?
Is there a common way people do this kind of thing?

I have created a number of custom properties, structures, groups, renderers, layout sets etc and would like to move them from Dev to Test system.
I have found the following in the help doco:

Are there any special settings to see these buttons?

OK, so in otherwords, it is not available in SP09 and only in SP12+.
So, to "transport" this information I will have to manually reapply thes settings in the Test system!

Hi,
SAP User Administration is the standard way to export and import users in the portal. Using the export functionality, all the user information will get exported, including the roles and groups assigned:

If you only want to export the user data without the roles and groups, you'll have to delete these lines.

tablespace TESTTBS doesn't exist in the database where your are importing.
Either create tablespace in target database or
use show=y option while importing to get table structure and create manually in target database then import and give ignore=y.

Export and Import Integration Profile - Demantra

Hi All,
I am working on demantra workflow in export and import integration profiles through workflow.
I want to avoid a customization to integrate the export profile data created from series A and import the data into other import profile created from series B.
I have done the following:
1. Create an export integration profile from series A and when launch the workflow found the below:
1. view_name BIEO_view_name and table_name BIIO_table_name got created in transfer_query table.
when i did
select * from BIIO_view_name got records and when i did select * from BIIO_table_name, no data found.
2. I want to populate data into the BIIO_table_name created from export profile. Is there any standard process to populate the data into the biio_table_name from bieo_view_name without writing the custom pl/sql.
I need this data to populate into a import profile which got created through series B.
I want to avoid the customization of wriring a custom pl/sql and want to know is there any seeded process of integrating the export profile from series A to import profile from Series B.
Any help is appreciated.

Before to import your BS, did you import the Technical System?
Before to import your Technical System, did you import the SWCV ?
Before to import your SWCV, did you import the Product?
if no, you have to respect a sequence for the import: from highest to lowest level
if answer is yes. then In your BS defined in Dev, do you have a transport Group which says "BS_dev -> BS_Qua"?
If yes, both BS have to be defined in Qua SLD, else your transport link... has no link.
Moreover, when you import something, normally you have a detailed error message which explain you what is missing.

a Full System Export and Import.
Scope and Application
It is intended to assist users performing FULL System Exports and Imports.
A Full System Export and Import is a useful way to replicate or clean up
a database. Please note the following guidelines when performing a Full
System Export and Import:
1. When performing the import, ensure you are pointing at the correct
instance. Always check values for the SID and two task driver before
proceeding.
*Note: On Unix systems, just entering a sub-shell, such as using
C-shell, can change the database that the import would work
against.
2. When possible, it is advisable to take a physical copy of the
exported database and the database you intend to import into before
starting the import. This ensures any mistakes are reversible.
3. NEVER run a FULL SYSTEM IMPORT on a machine that has more than one
database UNLESS you are 100% sure all tablespaces have been
pre-created. A full import will create any undefined tablespaces
using the same datafile names as the exported database. There are
situations where this is very dangerous:
-> If the datafiles belong to ANY other database, they will be
CORRUPTED. This is especially true if the exported database is
on the same machine, because its datafiles will be re-used by
the database you are importing into.
-> If the datafiles have names that clash with existing operating
system files.
4. When exporting, it is advisable to also produce a report showing
information you may need before / after the import:
-> List the tablespaces and datafiles
-> List the rollback segments
-> List a count, by user, of each object type such as tables,
indexes, etc.
This enables you to ensure that tablespaces have been pre-created
and to check the success of the import after it is complete.
5. If you are creating a completely new database from an export, remember
to create an extra rollback segment in SYSTEM, and make this available
in the init.ora file before proceeding with the import.
6. There are some versions of export that do not retain sequence numbers
correctly. It is advisable to select next_value for each sequence
after the export so that these can be checked after import.
Following these guidelines will help you to avoid major problems.
