Export from CS4 to Matrox MX02 LE to Betacam deck

Hi,
I'm attempting to export a sequence to tape. I think I have all my inputs and outputs set up right but I can't seem to record my sequence onto tape. I have no problem capturing footage from tape but going the other way won't seem to work. I have a Matrox MX02 LE connected to a Sony Betacam deck. Not even sure where to start as far as diagnosing this problem. Any ideas?
Thanks,
Kevin

Well, the first thing is to confirm that you're getting a signal out of the s-video port on the MXO.  Plug it directly into a monitor to confirm a signal.  If that's not working, it's probably a Matrox MXO panel option or something similar (i vaguely remember in the past that you had to choose between s-video or component out, although that might be not required anymore).  If you are getting a signal out, then it's likely a deck setting somewhere.
One thing that trips people up with betacams is that there's an EE mode that allows passthrough so that, if you're monitoring the output of the deck, it'll pass through the input.  If that's off (ie PB mode), you'll only see black when you put the deck in record mode.

  • Installed CS5, now can't export from CS4! Help! "Could not read from the source..."

I installed CS5 but completely ignored the fact plugins were required to be 64-bit. It'll be months before the plugins I require for my projects to be updated!
So I continued editing in CS4 and when I attempted to export with the media encoder it halts instantly with an exclamation mark, the log says :
"Could not read from the source. Please check if it has moved or been  deleted."
And yes I'm not stupid, I did my research.
I tried uninstalling CS4 and reinstalling. I tried the shortcut fix. I tried moving my cache files. My extensions are correct.
Right now the only fix seems to be completely removing CS5 and CS4, After Effects just because they share files (?) and all my settings and plugins along with it! I'd rather NOT do that if I can!

Good detective work, and glad that it worked. Now, your cure will be here for us to link to and for others to find. Your title will help direct others to this thread. Job well done.
    Thanks,

  • CS4 and Matrox MX02 Mini with MAX

    CS4 sucks.
Is there some kind of written rule that eac new version has be worse than the previous ?
Why does Adobe keep cutting out the tools and processes we, I, want the most !
    Examples;
WHY doe Adobe STILL refuse to put back in stop motion capture ?
Why has Adobe screwed up the whole export thing and made it not only 100 times more complicated, but, also able to do 100 times LESS than it always used to in previous versions ?
BUT, my immediate question is why are my 720x480i exports to MPEG2-DVD  m2v  repeatedly failing  - unknown error ?
    - Source File: C:\DOCUME~1\steve\LOCALS~1\Temp\fleming8mmfilms-sd-3_2.prproj
    - Output File: C:\Sequence 01.m2v
    - Preset Used: Custom
    - Video: NTSC, 720x480, 29.97 drop frame [fps], Lower, Quality 5.0
    - Audio: No Summary Available
    - Bitrate: VBR, 1 Pass, Min 2.01, Target 4.13, Max 7.00 [Mbps]
    - Encoding Time: 00:00:08
    18/09/2009 9:35:55 PM : Encoding Failed
    Error compiling movie.
    Unknown error.

I didn't sin, but you did by assuming things that are not true.
1/ The project file is on the same drive as the export, BUT, the source files are on a different capture drive than the export to C.
2/ I've been using the Matrox RTX100 with previous versions of Premiere for 7 years, and the two have worked very well together all that time, and still are working very well, and, will continue to I've no doubt. - Just because you couldn't get it to work, does not mean they don't.
3/ The export I refer to did not have any connection to the Matrox box. All Premiere and Encore.
4/ I didn't mention that I had done a lot of successful export tests of various definition formats, to other formats, and including a 1 hour Full HD export, no problems.
    So, - there - nyah !

  • Choppy and lagging playback from videos/animations exported from Cs4 (Media Encoder)

    Hello!
I got Creative Suite 4 (Production Premium). I usally uses AE and PrePro, saves the project and uses Media Encoder to export the footage. My filmcrew got a Sony HDR-200 (I think) who saves in AVCHD, m2ts full HD.
First I edit the clip with Sony Vegas... Cut the things I do not want.
Then, I applie visualFX with After Effects and sometimes Premiere Pro. Saves the project. Fire up Adobe Media Encoder and selects "add After Effects Composition".
    I always render in:
    H.264
    HDTV 1080p 25fps
    PAL 16:9 Ratio
    The Video was/is original i:
    Sony AVCHD (m2ts)
    1080p 25fps
Everything seemes ok. No error messages or anything like that.
Next step, I import the footage (from any Cs4 application) into Vegas, Movie Maker or whatever software.
The whole clip, is "choppy". Frames mixes together. The footage is choppy even in Windows Media Player, Winamp... Not just Vegas...
Example: My actor is going to stand up from the couch. While rising, several frames from when he sat and when he has risen appears. The mixes, last ca. 2 frames each.
Summary: All Cs4 products exports choppy video... Media Encoder or not... Same problem.
    Please help me!

  • Trouble exporting from CS4

I'm helping a friend on his Premiere Pro CS4 to put together a basic video. The capture format when we started it was HDV and I think (because I hadn't done it before and I really don't remember) I did it in DV NTSC 24p (which is silly since I'm in the UK, not North America). Any export attempt I make seems to squish the image horizontally, quite apart from having black margins around it no matter what I try.
Then I tried starting a new project, this time set to DV PAL and then copied and pasted my sequence from the other finished video into that, and exported it. So the image looked fine, but there was absolutely no sound.
Do I have to do this whole thing from scratch or can I salvage the work I've put into it already?
    Help welcomed please.
    Cheers

Again, I apologise for my ignorance on this.
I used "interpret footage" in AfterEffects but unfortunately that cause a further problem (the video sequence I created in PrPro includes a still image at the end, and when the footage is interpreted it splits that off so the size of the image no longer matches the footage as I created it).
Although I can't control the players other people use, I want to ensure the video I upload to youtube/vimeo and my website will be the right shape. Should I just import the sequence from PrPro to AE rather than exporting into a .mov format and then dumping that into AE?

  • Big problem with PDF export from CS4

Create a document with facing pages. Then place a rectangle or any other object on the master through the whole spread. Place the text or any other object on the master over the first rectangle on the both pages. Now, when exporting pdf, the text on the left pages is disappeared becaouse it covered by the copy of the rectangle. The variation of the problem is when using any tansparencies, then they become "less transparent" on the left pages because of this strange dublicating.
There is an archive in attachment that contains indd and pdf files with this problem.

Thanks, it works, but bug is still bug. In some cases it's impossible to do this, for example my recent case: it was text with huge outer glow on master pages. Outer glow from right page dublicates to the left and covered left text, and there's no way to move effect to another layer separately. The solution was to detach these texts from masters, but it's also unhandy solution.
It's hard to detect such cases unless it happen with big elements.

  • Exporting from CS4 doesn't work.

I edited together some footage, exported using Media Encoder as h.264. The progress bar reaches the end and then nothing. The status remains as "Encoding". In my export folder there is a .m4v file that is 2.68 GB, and .aac file that is 172 MB and a .mp4 file that is zero K. I'm guessing that Media Encoder is supposed to copy the .m4v file and the .aac file into the .mp4 file and delete the originals, but it's not doing that. Any ideas?

  • Strange JPEG export from CS4 (6.0)

When I export jpeg from InDesign, the resulting jpegs only open in Photoshop. When trying to import to InDesign, place pane shows them grayed out.
I had this same issue back in CS3, which was fixed on an update, but now it's here again?

I'm reading this in the iPhoto for iOS forum. You might want to post this in an iPhoto for Mac forum. When you do you might explain what you are doing, what error messages do you receive and any other things that might help users help understand your problem.

  • Exporting .dxf From CS4 Illustrator for Cutting

I am looking for a way to cleary  Export .dxf files for Cutting (ioline Specifically)
The problem  first occured when, I installed CS4, (this method was flawless in CS2)
The  problem I am having is inconsistant, jagged, and incorrect lines when I  load the export from CS4
    Into the Ioline Rip Software.
Anyone that  is familar with exporting for flatbed or roll cutters that can help me  find a solution to this,
In the meantime I have to save the file  as .eps then load the file in Corel and export as a .plt from there.
I  can't stand Corel, so anyway to bypass this process would totally make  my days easier.
I also have the Latest version of Wasatch, and I heard a  small rumor that I could do my export dirty work in that...?
    Chris

    RedCurlz,
Rereading your OP, I made a search and found this two year old thread: http://forums.adobe.com/message/1249346#1249346
As it appears, it seems that you will have to use CS2, or modify the .dxf file (simplify, create an .eps, or something else).
Seemingly, the curves should be jagged already when viewed in Illy (CS3/CS4). Is that the case?
Someone may know whether this CS3/CS4 bug has been fixed in CS5.
    Someone?

  • Can you have a PDF fit on the viewer's screen automatically when exporting from InDesign CS4?

Can you have a PDF fit on the viewer's screen automatically when exporting from InDesign CS4?

If you were to upgrade to InDesign CS5 or CS5.5 and if you exported as Adobe PDF (Interactive), you could set the View settings for Page Layout and Zoom.
While, as Jongware points out, its possible for individual users to override that option (Preferences > Page Display > Default Layout and Zoom), the number who will actually do that is actually very tiny.

  • Cannot export to tape from CS4

I have PPro CS4 connected by firewire to either a Canon HV 30 MiniDV camera or a Sony GV-D1000 Mini DV deck.  (I've tried both).
I am trying to export my project to MiniDV tape.  I have succeeded in the past but for some reason now can't do it.
I select "Export to tape" in PPro and all seem to go smoothly, the device being controlled from the PPro device controller and the tape starting to roll.  It's just that no image appears in the screen on the HV30 or GV-D1000, and nothing is recorded.  I am following the instructions for each device regarding recording via this method.  It just seems no data is being sent from the PC to the device.
Options in Edit - Preferences - Device Control are set for the approrpriate PAL system and device.
I can record from the device onto my PC using the same firewire port and cable.
    I'm using Windows 7.
    12Gb RAM
    i7 chip
    ATI Radeon HD5870 graphics card
    Can anyone help, please?

Thanks again, Ann, but as mentioned in my "Dropping frames during capture" thread, this has already been tried and failed.
The following things have been tried and have all failed to prevent, roughly every minute or so during capture or export, two or three seconds of interference which results in lots of dropped frames during capture or a blank screen during export:
    Different firewire cables
Different programs:  PPro CS4; Pr Elements 9, Windows Live Movie Maker
    Capturing to different hard discs
    Capturing to external hard disc
    Closing every non-essential process
    Detaching every non-essential peripheral
Switching off all other electronic devices in that part of the house, phone included
Capturing from/exporting to different devices from different makers
    Changing the firewire driver
I think it's either the firewire driver on Windows 64 bit, (althouhg I've treid changing it) or a problem with the graphics card.
The firewire slot is not in a card by itself, but part of a panel of many slots and plugholes at the back of my PC - USBs, minijacks, firewire etc  I have no further slots available for a separate firewire card.
The only solution I can see is to save the project as a huge AVI file, transfer that to my lap top, make a movie out of it with Windows Live Movie Maker, and export from there.

  • Exporting files from CS4

Is there any way to export files directly from CS4 rather than going through Media Encoder? It just took over 7min to export out a :30 spot in DV AVI format. I was recently upgraded from CS3 to CS4 and am not liking the export functions in CS4.

No, everything must go through AME.  5.0 added the ability to do a Direct Export.
However, that probably isn't the cause of your slowdown.

  • Old DV .avi projects exported from Premiere 6.5, hang in CS4.

    Hi
Im new to CS3. I finished some Mini-DV PAL 4:3 projects ages ago using Premiere 6.5, exporting the finished timeline directly from 6.5 as .avi files. I would have used whatever the default export CODEC in 6.5 was.
My Premiere 6.5, the machine used, and the project files have long gone.
When I play these .avis in Window media player, Nero, Media centre, etc they are fine.
But when imported into a CS4 project they behave strangely. The timeline progresses normally, the timecod advances, the audio plays, but the video hangs and stutters, sometimes as a frame hold, sometimes skipping, sometimes producing green video noise. This appears to occur mainly where there are titles and opacity changes.
All I want to do is add a few beginning and end transitions and some chapter points, send to Encore, then burn to DVD.
Im sure I have set the correct project parameters: DV PAL, SD, 720x576i.
Raw capture files of the same vintage play fine.
My machine is fast enough: 2.4GHz Quad core, Win XP SP3, 3.25GB RAM (out of 4GB). It runs AVCHD from my current camera faultlessly.
If anyone knows what is going on here it would be greatly appreciated!!
Below are the properties of one of the files, directly from CS4:
    File Path: G:\Video\Sweden.avi
    Type: AVI Movie
    File Size: 3.7 GB
    Image Size: 720 x 576
    Pixel Depth: 32
    Frame Rate: 25.00
Source Audio Format: 48000 Hz - 16 bit - Stereo
Project Audio Format: 48000 Hz - 32 bit floating point - Stereo
    Total Duration: 00:17:37:08
Average Data Rate: 3.6 MB / second
    Pixel Aspect Ratio: 1.094
    AVI File details:
    Contains 1 video track(s) and 1 audio track(s).
    Interleave: 1 : 12.00
    Video track 1:
Size is 3.54G bytes (average frame = 148.12K bytes)
    There are 26433 keyframes.
    Frame rate is 25.00 fps
    Frame size is 720 x 576
    Depth is 24 bits.
    Audio track 1:
    Size is 193.60M bytes
    Rate is 48000 samples/sec
    Sample size is 16 bits

It is quite common to find that Windows CODECs used by the clip window will play OK, but then the same clip will not play off the timeline. This is because on the timeline the output goes through Premiere's rendering engine rather than Windows and this is less forgiving due to editing requirements.
I am able to import old DV500 output files into PPro CS4 without any problems.
I would still suspect something to do with installed CODECs versus your 32-bit DV file. DV is normally 24-bit and doesn't include an alpha channel (the final 8 bits of 32).
You might be able to eliminate the extra 8 bits using AVIsynth (free download) if you can't fix it another way.

  • Export From Premiere Hangs Always

Premiere seems to perform well during editing. But anytime I export from the timeline, I have to wait up to a minute or so before the export window opens. If I use AME, the same happens, and when it finally opens is grayed out and says "not responding". This goes on for another bit before finally kicking in. Once encoding, it seems to work fine, but seems like it should be faster.
I've done re-installs of the CS, Windows, and even on a new computer. Same problem. I'm working with HDV footage. I have tried using Matrox AVI as well (MX02 Mini installed) but same problem.

There is a conflict with Matrox and the SurCode AC3 codec.
If you're working with CS5 go to C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe Media Encoder CS5\MediaIO\codecs and rename the file SurCodeWrapper.vca to SurCodeWrapper.bak, when Premiere or Media Encoder are not running.
Then go to C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe Premiere Pro CS5\MediaIO\codecs and do the same thing.
If you're working with CS5.5 go to C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe Media Encoder CS5.5\MediaIO\codecs and rename the file SurCodeWrapper.vca to SurCodeWrapper.bak, when Premiere or Media Encoder are not running.
Then go to C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe Premiere Pro CS5.5\MediaIO\codecs and do the same thing.
    Hope this helps!

  • EMail Link in SWF exported from InD CS5 does not work

I'm trying to find a definitive answer on this. I have designed an interactive document in InD CS5 that has buttons and hyperlinks. When exported to SWF everything works except my e-mail hyperlink. It works fine in InDesign's preview pane. I've uploaded the file to my webserver for testing, the problem still occurs.
I found one post in another forum that quoted an Adobe InD developer stating that as of CS4 email links were not exported. However, I've not been able to find any mention of whether this works in CS5 or not.
Does anybody know for sure whether or not email links work in SWF files exported from CS5?

Sorry, no offense was intended. I had found references to problems with CS4, but nothing about CS5, and said as much in my post -- was frustrated that I had spent a long time looking and hadn't found any responses yet.
You mentioned using buttons rather than hyperlinks, and that worked for me -- but it might have just been a problem with my browser not properly reloading the flash file, too -- as I mentioned in my response.
But in any case, THANK YOU FOR YOUR SUGGESTION!
