Export Setting ??  Letterboxes on export...problematic

Hi, i know this probably has a really easy solution, but I have full quality, composite 720p .mov's exported from eyetv and upon inxpecting in quicktime, this video fills the 1280x720 frame size and is in perfect quality. Upon export from FCP in mpeg4-h.264 codec with 7500 data stream, it seems that FCP is adding letterboxes on the top and bottom which is just slightly squeezing my image. Is there a setting or box that I have checked that is adding this, because i just want the native size of the imported footage. If anyone can help iw ould appreciate it!

have you tried exporting via compressor? it will give you more control!!!
you can go through all the settings in there 1 by 1 rather than relying on FCP to do the work for you.
hope this helps?

  • Best exporting setting for web

What will be the best exporting setting from FILE>EXPORT> to share a HD projet on the web.
    Jean

    Convert it to h.264.
    Try this:
File - Export - QT Conversion...
Make sure QT movie is selected and where it says default... change it to Broadband High.
Then go into the OPTIONS button and change the size to reflect the 16:9 aspect ratio...
That will give you the quality you want I'm sure.
As for # megs... well -- try a smaller SIZE option and then force it 2x or 1.5x from your web page.

  • How do I set a PDF Export Preset to force a minimum line weight on output?

How do I set a PDF Export Preset to force a minimum line weight on output?  I'm currently using one that came from a printer that works great - but I can't seem to find the option when creating one myself.  I have some placed Illustrator line art that is built with .25 line thickness and when I have it placed at 20% scale the lines are too thin to see in the PDF output.

There is absolutely no way to force minimum line widths within InDesign itself, certainly not as part of the PDF export process!! And even one writes a script to go through every object within an InDesign document and both validate and fix line widths less than some particular threshold, such a script would be useless against placed artwork, the contents of which are not available for manual or programmatic inspection within InDesign.
Note that one should be exceptionally careful in “fixing” hairlines, especially if you are placing vector artwork at very low magnification. It may actually be OK to let certain lines drop out. After a fixup on some content, you could end up with a messy mass of lines.

  • Not able to set properties for Exported documents

I am pretty new to crystal report, my problem is I export reports into pdf, excel, rtf and doc.
While exporting I want to set document Properties I am using SummaryInfo to fill in the values
    SelectedRepDoc.ReportOptions.EnableSaveSummariesWithReport = True
    SelectedRepDoc.ReportOptions.EnableSavePreviewPicture = True
    SelectedRepDoc.SummaryInfo.ReportAuthor = "TEST"
While debugging I see the values getting set but after export when I open the document and see properties of it its not set.
Also I have to set these values at runtime only because author name can be different based on my application logic.

    hi
summary info in crystal reports is for .rpt types.. it will be useful for placing the special fields report title author inside the report.

  • My Illustrator CC is exporting my files over 4x larger than I set them to export as.

I really need this ixed. I'd rather not uninstall and redownload. It takes ages. basically, I'll set my artboard to export as sayyy 100x100 pixels, it'll export as 417x417 pixels.

you're exporting at 300 dpi. export 72 dpi.
if you make a 100x100 px image in illustrator, you're actually making an image that is 100x100 points. points are a unit with a specific size. if you export a raster image 300 dpi, illustrator is making your image 4.17x larger (300/72) as it's cramming pixels into an already-defined area.

  • What is the best export setting from QuickTime Pro 7 for standard DVD

I have several AVI movies I took and want to import them into iMovie, so I can create a DVD that will play in any DVD player or computer. (Along with a bunch of pictures.)
Should I convert them with QuickTime Pro 7 (QTP7) to another format, and if so, what is the best export setting.
I have export them using *_QuickTime 10_* and QTP7 to *MOV, MP4, & M4V* and the output is *+bad bad bad+*.
I have tried both export and save-as. Neither has done a good job.
The internal information of the AVI movies are: (as reported by QT)
Format: Apple OpenDML JPEG, 640 x 480, Millions, 8-bit Unsigned Integer, Mono, 11.024 kHz
I have used several settings with not much luck including:
    AAC, Stereo (L R), 44.100 kHz, MPEG-4 (Perian), 640 x 480, Millions
    MPEG-4 Video, H.264
Should I be using a better application then QuickTime?
Is there a way to just use iDVD with the original AVI movies?
These are wedding movies and pictures that people are waiting for.

Should I convert them with QuickTime Pro 7 (QTP7) to another format, and if so, what is the best export setting.
That depends on your specific work flow and the codec(s) involved. Generally speaking, if the file plays in the QT Player and is "conversion" compatible, then the file can be added directly to iDVD (i.e., unlike iMovie '08/'09/'11 which requires the file to be "edit" compatible with QT).
I have export them using QuickTime 10 and QTP7 to MOV, MP4, & M4V and the output is bad bad bad.
The quality of your output file will depend on a number of things: primarily the quality of your source file, the efficiency of the target codec, and the specific settings used. (About which you did not elaborate.) The rule of thumb here is that your output will never be better than your input and each re-comprssion of the data has the potential to degrade the quality to some degree.
I have tried both export and save-as. Neither has done a good job.
The "Export" option re-compresses the data while the "Save As..." option only places the original data in an MOV file container. So if this output is "bad, bad, bad," then I suspect your source file(s) are not of high quality to begin with. (This seems to be confirmed by the very low audio sampling rate which implies the video data rate was probably also low to conserve file storage space.)
The internal information of the AVI movies are: (as reported by QT)... Format: Apple OpenDML JPEG, 640 x 480, Millions, 8-bit Unsigned Integer, Mono, 11.024 kHz
The basic codecs here appear to be both playback and conversion compatitible with QT (other than the very low sampling rate which some QT apps may not like). Thus, if your work flow is to simply burn DVDs that can be played on commercial players, the AVI could most likely be dropped to iDVD for authoring. On the other hand, if you are editing in a recent version of iMovie, then that app may not like the AVI file container. In this case, the best quality you can likely expect would be to use the "Save As..." option to place the data in an MOV file container and import to iMovie.
Unfortunately, editing in iMovie '08/'09/'11 is done "by reference" which means your output file will be created by exporting the impoted source data to another compression format. The default would be H.264/AAC which is a highly compressed format which in turn would be re-compressed again by iDVD to multiplexed MPEG2/PCM content further reducing quality by using a less efficient video codec. My recommendation for export from iMovie in this case would be AIC/Linear PCM. (I.e., to export your edits to the Apple intermediat video codec using the original file size and frame rate with just a bit of "sharpening" and using 16-bit/48 kHz Linear PCM audio (which is what will be used to create the DVD).
Should I be using a better application then QuickTime?
How much are you willing to spend?
Is there a way to just use iDVD with the original AVI movies?
Yes. Simply create a new SD project, select your theme, drop the compatible AVI content to the appropriate "drop" area(s), add photos as desired, preview the results, and author the DVD if/when satisfied.

  • Can you change export setting?

Any way of changing the export setting on LiveType? I'm working with dvcpro codec 720 60 and the default export is Animation. Anyway of changing this on LiveType? Thanks!
*Taking it to FCP7 and trying to match Sequence settings
    Message was edited by: Chulo01

LiveType always exports as Animation because of the Alpha channel.
There is a setting for 720 HD in Edit > Project Properties. You will have to customize the frame rate if your FCP Timeline is 60P. Easy enough to do, just type in the numbers.
Instead of rendering a movie, you should save the LiveType project file and import that into FCP (it has a .ipr ending). You will have to re-render both the .ipr and the .mov output from LiveType. Save yourself a step and just import the .ipr. It can be treated exactly as if it were a video clip.

  • Best QT export setting for istockphoto?

    Hi.
I want to export my footage using PPro CS5 for uploading onto istockphoto.com.
The required format is QuickTime (Photo-JPEG).
    This is the source summary:
    1440x1080 (1.3333), 29.97fps, Upper
    (was shot with Sony AX2000)
Does anyone know the best export setting for this footage?
    I tried this...
    Format:QT
    Preset:Custom
    Codec:Photo-JPEG
    1440x1080
    29.97fps
    Upper First
    Aspect: HD Anamorphic 1080 (1.333)
Then, the exported video looks vertically streched...
    What am I doing wrong?
    Please help.
    Thank you!

You're probably doing nothing wrong.  Many players will not unsqueeze the footage automatically, you have to tell it to do that with a keypress or menu setting.

  • Character set in MDL export/import

    Hi,
we are running OWB 10.1.0.2. In order to get version control, we perform MDL exports of collections from our development environment and then import them into our test and production environments. Each environment uses its own design repository, but all repositories are in the same database.
When doing an export of a collection, we always specify the character set AL32UTF8 because that is what we are running in the repository database. When later doing an import using the graphical user interface, it is not possible to specify the character set (but this can be done when using the import utility). According to the documentation, the GUI import will then assume that the character set in the collection is the character set of the client, which usually is WE8MSWIN1252. (The documentation also says that it IS possible to specify the character set during GUI import, this is obviously a documentation error).
My questions are: What is the point of specifying character set when doing exports and imports? Could an AL32UTF8 export followed by an WE8MSWIN1252 import cause problems? I assume that the character set used by export is specified in the collection file, so does the import then convert it to WE8MSWIN1252 (or the character set specified in the import utility)?
Or, to be more general: What is actually happening with the character sets during MDL export/import?
    /Kjell Gullberg

    Dear ski123,
I think you are not going to loose any data of yours when you migrate the database. You may proceed to the import.

  • GTS SCD (Supplementary Customs Declaration) for Export  set up?

    Dear experts,
I'm trying to set up the SCD for export.
Use: not sending every CD for export transactionally, but grouped, e.g. monthly
Via the menu: Import / Export < Create SCD => there is only 3 possiblities (free circulation, discharge CWH, declaration CWH), these are all 3 related to import no?
How can I set this up for export?
    authorization OK
procedure CUSPEX set up for legal regulation CUSBE (export belgium), seems OK,
what can I be missing to set this up?
When this is set up for export, do you always need to use the worklist to group the entries together or can this already be done automatically somehow (eg every export CD gets linked to the open SCD?)
    Thanks!

    Hi Isabelle,
I wonder if you have misunderstood the requirement?  Domestic Issues are not Exports (there's a clue in the name), but instead they remove stock from the Customs Warehouse to free-circulation.  So periodically you need to declare those Imports, and that's the purpose of the SCD.
    I hope that helps.
    Kind regards,
    Dave

  • The Best Export Setting

    Hi there
I do a lot of editing in FCP, and then export my edit into one big clip and then import it into AVID. Sometimes I also send files to graphics people who add in cool logos etc. Most of the time I use the animation export setting.
Does anyone have any advise as to which setting is the best to use for high quality video?
      Mac OS X (10.4.9)

DV Stream has lower audio resolution that DV PAL if thats a consideration. Footage captured at DV PAL resolution is best kept there since sending it out at a higher data rate does nothing except increase the file size unless you are using specialised colour resampling processes.
I usually output graphics created in After Effects for instance using the Animation codec and let FCP handle the downsample to the DV codec this for me seems to yield the best quality results in addition to giving me and Alpha channel for the graphics.

  • Export setting in highest quality

Dear all, I am new in PE11 and I am looking for the best export setting in order to keep a clean and highest quality possible version of my movie. From that clean copy I will be able to create different versions (for youtube, DVD, PC, etc...). Any idea? Thanks for your help.

    Welcome to the forum.
Will you be re-editing this material at any time? That can make a difference.
If so, I like outputting to a lossless CODEC, like Lagarith, or UT Lossless - both free. See this article: http://forums.adobe.com/message/4556586#4556586
The one drawback to such an intermediate is that the resulting file will have limited use, directly. It can be shared with others, for computer playback, but the recipient must have the same CODEC on their computer. For YouTube, Vimeo, DVD, etc., the lossless file will need to be Imported into a New Project, where it can be re-edited, but primarily to be output again, as is required for the intended delivery medium, i.e. YouTube, Vimeo, DVD-Video, etc.
For some general guidelines, see this article. Though written for PrPro, it covers all the high points for PrE: http://forums.adobe.com/thread/878590?tstart=0
    Good luck,
    Hunt

  • Recommend me an export setting!

Hey all, well I've found this board to be very helpful and informative, so i'll post up another question.
I recently finished making another movie in iMovie 4, that is just over 6 minutes in length. I've created two exported versions, with two different settings.
First is the basic CD-ROM export setting, and it came out to be about 37 MB in size, but with bad quality.
I tried using the preset H264 setting, with 15 frames a second, set to best quality, using a 1 level sharpen filter, and 720x480 in size. It came out great, but it was 621 MB in size. Still great quality, and better than the 1.2 gig raw DV size, but still a little too big.
Is there any other setting(s) you would recommend that would give me a good medium? Still good quality but more around 100MB maybe, preferably less? I greatly appreciate your help, thanks

130MB's is still a bit "large" for even modern Web use.
All servers have "bandwidth limits" and you may need to upgrade your service to get the extra bandwidth needed for multiple viewers of your file.
It would take almost a day for me to download over dial-up. I know, most don't care about dial-up users.
MPEG-4 makes good looking video. But an export on a Mac uses QuickTime formats that may not "play nice" with other viewers (Web video players).
It also automatically adjusts to the video gamma difference between Mac's and PC's (a big bonus).
QuickTime 7 has been out for more than a year and millions of users have downloaded it. It comes on every Mac sold and is installed on Windows machines when they download iTunes. A big audience.
A "custom" html page can include special tags that can display your file at a larger dimension than the source. H.264 files play very nice at "double size".
So. You could export at a very low data rate (300 to 800 kbits/sec) using AAC audio at 128 at a dimension of 320X240 and display it in a Web page at "double" size. Cut the frame rate in half (15fps) and not many would complain.
This new .mov or .mp4 file could be 20MB's. Six times smaller than the source which would allow you more visitors (less bandwidth use) and a faster download.
Test a few one minute "cuts" at various settings to get your feet wet. Once you know what settings to use (or work best for your file) you can do the entire export to QuickTime.
