Export to .wmv?

I just finished my Sequence in FCE and I want to Export to a .wmv, is this possible? If so, how?
Or, is it possible to export to a .mov then convert to a .wmv?

If you want .wmv files you will have to export from
FCE as a QuickTime movie and then use a product like
Flip4Mac to
convert it to wmv.
Ok, I have Flip4Mac, but I still don't see how to convert it to a .wmv

  • How to export to .wmv

Ok I've got a 5 min 10 second video I want to export to .wmv...for some reason the option is not in my export options...tried it in the render que for .wmv and it came out over 45gb file with choppy animation and such.
My friend gave me the specs she uses:
Export to .wmv at 5.9 mbps 720i.
    what the heck is 720i?
I'm new to AE 7, but I've torn the render options apart and can't find anything looking like it is gonna give me those options. Got the windows media option...but it still comes out at a rediculous file size...garsh.
She said it was a plugin she got, but can't remember the name of it.

720i --> HD 720x10280 px interlaced. WMV exporting is handled by the Adobe Media Encoder (Windows only), which is a dedicated sub-system inside the standard Output Module settings. If it is in place can be verified by checking if other options like MPEG-II DVD are listed in the output format selection and of course the ominous "Windows Media" itself. What you describe sounds like you are actually creating an AVI file. A WMV at the specified ratres and duration should be nor more than 400 MB or so...

  • Exporting to WMV: Aspect Ratio Issue

I am working with .mts files on Final Cut Pro 5 that need to be exported as WMV files. The original files are 1440 x 1080 and I convert them to .mov using Voltaic. Everything works fine in FCP, but then when I export them using Quicktime Conversion, the aspect ratio gets funky. I set it to Custom: 1440 x 1080, yet when I play it back in either Finder or Quicktime, it plays in the wrong aspect ratio, at 4:3.
Is this something that I'm doing wrong - a wrong setting or wrong aspect ratio? Or is that just how it plays back in Quicktime?
Also, any recommendations for settings to get the best quality? I've been doing two pass VBR; what's the best bit rate to use?
    Thank you in advance!

I copied the images into PS and layered them with transparency. All of the images are stretched on what appears to be their long dimension.
I'm guessing it is an incompatibility between "Matt's Multi Photo Grid" template and LR 3.5, but the template works fine on my Windows Vista 64bit system with LR 3.5.

  • Trouble Exporting to WMV

I have a little movie that runs 1:26 and when I export it to WMV it stops at 0:30. Is there any way of making the length unlimited? I am using iMovie 6 HD and just sent for the v9 upgrade. Does the upgrade do this?

  • Error when trying to export to wmv

i keep getting an error when i try to export my movie to wmv. is anyone else having that problem?

The flip4mac update doesn't appear to solve the problem exporting from iMovie 08. I have updated both iMovie and the flip4mac exporter plug in and still cannot export from within iMovie - it comes up with said error. I have to export to a *.mov file first, and then open that file in quicktime, then export to *.wmv from within quicktime itself. Perhaps using VisualHub would be cheaper (and faster).

  • Quicktime Pro exporting to WMV -- only exports 30 seconds?

Have 7.6.6 PRO and am exporting to WMV. But I only get 30 seconds of video? Any ideas?

I am having a problem with this as well. In Quicktime Pro, when I try and export a 4:49 length .mov into a .wmv, it will only give me 4.30. Why would it cut me off? At first I thought maybe the machine hic-upped or something during the conversion but I have attempted it several times and no matter what I do, I can only get 4:30 in length.
I have Quick Time Pro and Flip4Mac WMV Studio Pro HD and have spent hours going through the FAQ’s and discussion forums on both sites and can’t find anything about a time constraint once you have purchased the “paid” versions......HELP

  • Export to WMV cuts off - I have no dissolves

I see there's been problems exporting to WMVs and having the export cut off at a dissolve...but I don't have any dissolves. A co-worker has the same problem. We're both running FCP 7.0.2.
    What could be the problem?

Flip4Mac installs windows media components onto your Mac.
The free version installs the playback components, as well as a 'teaser' version of the encoder. It will encode, just not your whole file. It is installing components, so it works across the Mac platform.
Once you upgrade to one of the paid versions, you can encode entire files.
Your free version is cutting the encode short, not the playback.
I would suggest stepping up to the StudioHD version, you get much higher quality and much greater control of your exports.

  • How to Export a WMV file in High Quality but low MB?

How to Export a WMV file in High Quality but low MB?

I'm really afraid you are the only person who can answer that.
ANY compression is totally relative: what do you think is small? What do you define as high quality?
I can get a 5 minute wmv file at just under 100mb that I find acceptable for browser downloads. You might think that's too big. I don't.
Trial and error is the only way. Personally, I've set up a compressor preset to crunch my wmv files. While it's doing it's thing, I can do something else.

  • Avoid interlace combing when exporting to wmv

    Ronald,
In addition to Steve's very important questions, I have another:
What else is running on your computer (often launched "behind the scenes," at bootup), while you are editing? Most computers have a lot of unnecessary programs, and processes, that launch at start, and can really eat up computer resources. You can check to see what gets loaded with MSCONFIG, and then looking at the Startup and Services Tabs.
Good luck, and please let us know a bit more.

  • I am missing the export format wmv in my media encoder

I am missing the export format wmv in my media encoder. I have cs6 web/design premium. I seems that I don't have a full version of the media encoder. But why?

WMV is part of any standard Windows install. If it doesn't show up, there is a configuration error or something is blocking the relevant components. That all there is to it - Adobe apps just use the sysstem components. There's no magic beyond that. As a start, check if the stuff shows up in Adobe Media Encoder or any other tools for that matter. Also make sure to run with sufficient user privileges so you have access to all system components. Likewise, turn off security tools that may be blocking this. also run Windows Update and/or the relevant Windows Media Player updates.

  • When exporting a .wmv in After Effects 5 the export adds additional black/Blank frames at the end

We are experiencing an issue where we or a client provides us with a video that is a .wmv video, exported from After Effects 5 and it adds almost a second of data less video.
What I mean by data less is the video renders out as WMV, 30FPS, 24 Bitrates (No audio) that is say 7 seconds long within After Effects. The moment it is rendered/exported, it is 8 seconds and shows 8 seconds in any program we import it to. That last second is empty, there is no frames, not even black frames, and when you preview the video in any program, you see the scrub bar, drop about 1 second before the actual end of the timeline.
I opened the video in Camtasia, and you can clearly see that at the end, it shows in the timeline (Video Editor), however there is no actual video.
I import the video in my company’s software, and I move the frame scrubber at the end, it says 'Unable to retrieve the requested video frame.'. If we import it to our software, it sees no frames for that second, and automatically loops and adds the first second of the video to the end.
Typically we only import uncompressed AVIs, but would like to know what this issue is.
    Windows 7 Enterprise
    64bit OS
    After Effects 5

I 100% agree about not being a fan of .WMV. We only recently added .wmv video support to our own program our clients use for importing videos and graphics. Our customer only used .wmv because it was on our list, and we are running into this issue.
Two different users (our own Graphic Artist, and our clients Graphic Artist) and we get the same result. We are 100% certain there is no video framerate mismatch in either of the AE files.
It would be interesting to see if anyone else using AE, if they could make a video few seconds long, export as a WMV and see if another program shows a whole extra second at the end, that has no data.
Thanks for your responses thus far.

  • Cannot export to WMV from CS4

This is a problem I've had consistently with CS4 when I go to export and render video timelines to windows media format.  If the video is longer than about 10 minutes it renders partially and gives me an API error message and stops rendering.  This problem only happens when I render to windows media.  I can render files to AVI and FLV just fine, no matter the length.  Shorter windows media files render fine out of CS4.
My system is Windows XP Professional x64 Edition.  Running on a HP Z400 workstation 3.33Ghz CPU and 11.9 GB of RAM.
The video settings in adobe are:
    Codec: Windows Media Video 9
    Encoding Passes: Two
    Bitrate Mode: Variable Uncontrained
    720x480
    FPS: 29.97
Pixel Aspect Ratio: D1/DV NTSC (0.9091)
    The audio settings are:
    Encoding passes: Two
    Bitrate Mode: Variable Unconstrained
    Codec: Windows Media Audio 9.2
Audio Format: 96kbps, 68 kHz, Stereo VBR
I've changed the path from the generic file adobe automatically creates to a folder I created on an external (2TB) hard drive.  I have more than enough space on both the external and on board hard drives.  If there's any additional information needed let me know and I can provide.
    Thank you!
