Exporting Crystal Reports with embedded Xcelsius content to PDF

Hi,
I have a crystal report with an embedded xcelsius chart. I would like to schedule this report using Crystal Server 2008, sending it monthly as a PDF file attached to an email. But after exporting the report through Crystal Server, the xceslsius content is just blank. Shouldn't this be working?

What is the version of Adobe Reader? Adobe Reader 9 should be there.Also check whether you have Flash Palyer/ flash Active X control installed.
If you can view the dashboard after exporting it to PPT,it means you have Flash Player installed. You need to try with Adobe Reader 9.

  • Any tool to search Crystal Reports with embedded SQL

    We have hundreds of Crystal Reports with embedded sql statements which have been developed over the years.  Is there any tool which will allow us to scan all of the reports to see which ones might use a certain table, or is using a "group by" clause, or whatever ?
    We'd prefer to not have to open each report to view the embedded sql.
    Any thing that will extract the sql for us and dump it to a file ??
    We have the reports as regular disk files, but they are also published to our Business Objects Enterprise XI R2 system (just an fyi in case there's an option on that side).

  • Error exporting Crystal Report with VB Script

    I am working with Crystal Reports and attempting to export a .RPT file to a .PDF file using a VBScript called from InSQL. I can get the script to work properly if I require a user entry for file destination and name (.export true) but get the error message "Missing or out-of-date export dll" when I attempt to export the .RPT silently (.export false). The report also exports correctly when I manually initiate the export from within Crystal Report. Do you have any examples or solutions for this procedure? Thank you in advance.
    Here is my code for the VBScript export:
    dim rptfile, exportfile
    dim strDate
    dim objCRRpt
    dim objCRApp
    strDate = "_" & right("0" & month(now()),2) & "_" & right("0" & day(now()),2) & "_" & year(now())
    rptfile = UCase("C:\CompCriticalAlarmReport_Test\Report1.rpt")
    exportfile = "C:\CompCriticalAlarmReport_Test\criticalalarmreport" & strDate & ".PDF"
    Set objCRApp = CreateObject("CrystalRuntime.Application")
    set objCRRpt = objCRApp.openreport(rptfile)
    With objCRRpt
         With .exportoptions
         .formattype = CrEFTCrystalReport
         .diskfilename = exportfile
         .destinationtype = CrEDTDiskFile
         .usereportdateformat = true
         .usereportnumberformat = true
         End With
    .export (false)
    End With
    Set objCRApp = Nothing
    set objCRRpt = Nothing

    Ludek, I downloaded the VBA Sample application using the Microsoft Access Database and it is coming up with the same error as my VBScript for the PDF export. The error message for this application is "Run-time error '-2147190908 (80047784)': Failed to export the report."
    Private Sub Image47_Click() 'Exporting to PDF
    'Defines report's format type
    Me.crxReport.ExportOptions.FormatType = crEFTPortableDocFormat
    'Defines report's destination type
    Me.crxReport.ExportOptions.DestinationType = crEDTDiskFile
    'Defines report's file name
    Me.crxReport.ExportOptions.DiskFileName = "C:\MyPDFfile.pdf"
    'exports without calling the exporting dialog window
    Me.crxReport.Export False        <----ERROR OCCURS ON THIS LINE
    When I Run the application with Me.crxReport.Export True, the application executes without error and a popup appears prompting me to select the destination and format type. I need this to run automatically though without a user prompt.
    I have seen numerous topics regarding the exportmodeller.dll, crtslv.dll, and atl.dll files improperly registering or the incorrect versions causing export problems. Could this be causing problems with my export functions? Again, the reports export fine when I manually export them, I am just having a problem when I try to export automatically in any format (excel, text, pdf, rpt, etc...)

  • Printing Crystal Reports that use Xcelsius Flash to PDF

    I've tried searching for this and can't find much about it.
    I have a VB.NET(Visual Studio 2008 Version 9.0.21022.8 RTM) application that I use to print Crystal(Crystal 2008 Version 12.2.5.537) reports automatically, its using the CrystalDecisions.Windows.Forms DLL version 12.0.2000.0 (not sure if I should be using a different DLL based on this [Old topic|Re: Exporting CR2008 With flash file to PDF]). I'm using Adobe Acrobat Pro 9 Version 9.3.1.
    Problem:
    The flash files when printed to PDF through .NET don't show up. If I print to PDF by hand through Crystal they show up just fine.
    If I print to HTML through .NET the flash files show up (I've come up with a workaround based on this, but lets just say its less than ideal...).
    What do I need to do to get the flash files to show up when being printed through .NET to PDF?
    Thanks,
    Jeremy

    I fooled around with this a long time ago. All I remember is that if I actually clicked on the place holder in the PDF, the image would now show up... But I don't remember the upshot of it (e.g.; escalation or what ever...). Also, there was the issue of Acrobat version, but I believe you're at 9, so that should be OK.
    I would like to test this, but I'm not sure when I'll get the chance. If this is a critical issue, you may be better off creating a phone case here:

    Hello, I am using Delphi7 with CR XI. When I export a report
    with a chart to a pdf in my development environment it works fine. But
    when I distribute my application, the export works correctly except the
    chart does not display.  I am using Installshield to distribute

    Hello Russell,
    The Joint Time Frequency and Order Analysis Tool comes with example data. If you use the sample data, do you see the same behavior? Here are the steps I took:
    Run the VBS script Time Frequency and Order Analysis 111.VBS to launch the tool.
    Select New Data File
    Select Noise data.tdms and Open. This is in the Sample Data folder in the tool's folder Time Frequency and Order Analysis 111
    Set the Time Channel to "1 Time" and set the Signal Channel to "3 Noise_2"
    Select Spectrum 3D CharDiag.TDR as the Report Templace.
    Select Joint Time Frequency Spectrum as the Analysis Type.
    Select Run Analysis. This will load the analysis data into a report
    Double-click on the graph to open the 3D Axis Definition window
    Select ... next to the Characteristic diagram to open the Curve Parameters window
    Under the Interpolation tab, uncheck Interpolation. Click OK and close both dialogs. The graph will re-draw.
    Go to File > Clipboard or press the Copy Graphic to Clipboard button.
    Paste the image in Paint or Microsoft Word
    With these steps, I do not get an error with the clipboard. Are you able to export to clipboard if using the sample data Noise data.tdms? Does copying to clipboard work with any data? I'm trying to determine if maybe a certain large or small set of data could be causing the issue, or if you always have this issue.

  • CR report with embedded SWF: Export to PDF displays nothing

    I'm creating CR 2008 reports with embedded SWFs as described in the whitepaper [EMBEDDING XCELSIUS 2008 VISUALIZATIONS IN CRYSTAL REPORTS 2008|http://www.businessobjects.com/pdf/product/catalog/crystalreports/cr_xc_integration.pdf].
    From CR, I can export the report to html and view the report fine. But when I export to pdf, ppt, etc. The SWFs are not viewable. Is this a bug or by design?
    This section of the white paper seems to imply that maybe you cannot export to pdf:

    I'm using the latest version of Adobe products:
    - Adobe Flash Player ActiveX, Version 9.0.124.0
    - Adobe Flash Player Plugin, Version 9.0.115.0
    - Adobe Reader 9, Version 9.0.0
    Also, I downloaded [CR Viewer 2008|http://www.businessobjects.com/product/catalog/crystalreports_viewer/] and can see the CR reports I've created with embedded Xcelsius swfs.
    Any information is appreciated. Thanks.
    Tim

    > ... it states in your first post, the export is not supported,
    True. It says:
    > Exporting and printing of Flash objects with connections to Crystal Reports data is not supported.
    But I can export such reports to html and view and print the flash objects.
    It seems inconsistent to me. I can export static flash charts to pdf, yet I cannot export dynamic flash charts to pdf, which is from Adobe, as is Flash?
    I'm hoping this is a temporary bug either in Crystal or pdf reader and is to be fixed in a patch release. Or an explanation of why the limitations exist.
    Thanks for the response.

  • Problems in exporting crystal report to word format

    Hi All,
    I am getting trouble in exporting crystal report to word formats.
    Here are my questions:
    1) The exported word file will have a text "R..950" added on top right hand corner, How to get rid of it?
    2) For those "Can Grow" fields, it can show multiple line data correctly in the viewer. However, the text box in exported word file will be too small to show all the content and lower half of the text is cut.
    Thanks and Regards,
    Cherry

    Hi Asha,
    Thanks for reply.
    The version of crystal report designer and viewer which I am using is version 11 Release 2.
    Besides, I guess it might relate to the format of report so I would like to tell you more.
    Font Face: Arial Unicode MS (in order to show chinese characters)
    Font Size: 9 pt
    For the text "R..950" issue, I just found that some people in the internet having the same issue and they suggested that may relate to the locate. In my case, the locate is Chinese (Hong Kong S.A.R.).
    If it is necessary, I may send you my report with sample for test.

  • Exporting Crystal Report to HTML is not working in Windows 7

    Hi Sir,
    I am trying to export Crystal Report to HTML format using VB.NET code. Functionality is working fine at Windows XP Environment (Save to Disk, Open an Application and Email Attachment). But the same functionality is not working at Windows 7 Environment (both 32-Bit as well as 64-Bit).
    Below is the code to Exporting Crystal Report to HTML in VB.NET.
    Dim CrDiskFileDestinationOptions As New DiskFileDestinationOptions
    Dim CrFormatTypeOptions          As New HTMLFormatOptions
    Dim vFormat As Integer
    Dim CrExportOptions As New ExportOptions
    Dim vRdReport As New ReportDocument
    Dim sfd As SaveFileDialog

    vRdReport = vRptSource
    sfd = New SaveFileDialog
    If Not (vRptPath = "") Then

    sfd.Filter = "Webpage, Complete(.htm;.htm)|.htm|Web Archive, Single file(.mht)|.mht|Webpage, HTML only(.htm;.html)|.html"
    If sfd.ShowDialog = DialogResult.OK Then
        ' Set the disk file options.
         CrDiskFileDestinationOptions.DiskFileName = sfd.FileName.ToString()

    End With
    vRdReport.Export()

    It looks like inheritance is broken in the component hierarchy for JFrame in Windows 7 JDK 1.6.0_23-b05. The only thing remotely related to inheritance in your code snippet is the WindowListener, which does little. See camickr's advice about built-in exit management.
    EDIT - using the post title as a clue, I realize you may be talking about the component hierarchy, and whether the contentPane's background is visible through the upper layers. Instead of guessing, I'd prefer you describe your "issue" accurately (observed vs expected behavior).

  • JRC bug: apostrophe in string parameter passed to Crystal Report with Command datasource to SQL Server

    Post Author: nl11087
    CA Forum: JAVA
    A single quote/apostrophe in string parameter passed to a Crystal Report with Command datasource connecting to a SQL Server database, using sqljdbc driver does not escape the special character correctly. When doing a preview in the Crystal Reports IDE it allows you to escape the input parameter as expected and work correctly, but through the JRC component it fails. For string parameters without special sql server characters I experience no problems at all. When replacing the Command with a direct table there is also no problem.
    Reproduction:
    1. create a database db1, create a table table1 with a String type column col1.
    2. Create new report Report1.rpt, create a connection to above, Add Command using 'SELECT col1, col2, col3 FROM table1 WHERE col1 = '{?Par1}' . Add a parameter field Par1 : String
    3. In your java stand alone application using JRC add the parameter Par1 with a value "Jon Doe's Value" containing a single apostrophe. Export to PDF. (I also tried MSWord and this failed too, similar behavior). Additionally, in another test try to replaceAll("'","''") to escape it, preventing the code to break, but now it does not retrieve the expected row anymore and you end up with an empty report.

    i really confused with this error,
    please help me for this problem
    many thank's

    Hi Ludek
    Thank you for your response. I have installed SP3 and ProcMon and still the same result.
    I applied a filter on ProcMon to filter out items where the path contains 'export'.
    There are a few items where the result is 'NAME NOT FOUND' but I don't think it necessarly had anything to do with the barcode. These include items such as 'EXPORT\MailDestType','EXPORT\DisableExportLiveOfficeSupport'','EXPORT\ExportDirectory' to name a few.
    What drew my attention was the ACCESS DENIED result on specifically the EXPORT\PDF folders. The detail for these are  Desired Access : All access, however the very same entry appears a little futher on as a SUCCESS but this is detailed as Desired Access: Query Value.
    So in summary it looks something like this:
    User : Server\XXX
    Operation : RegOpenKey
    Path : HKU\.DEFAULT\Software\Business Objects\Suite 12.0\Crystal Reports\Export\Pdf
    Result : ACCESS DENIED
    Desired Access : All Access
    User : Server\XXX
    Operation : RegOpenKey
    Path : HKU\.DEFAULT\Software\Business Objects\Suite 12.0\Crystal Reports\Export\Pdf
    Result : SUCCESS
    Desired Access : Query Value
    There are a few other entries that follow this pattern that exists in other locations such as HKLM\Software...
    Could this 'ACCESS DENIED' be the problem? and If so how do I, and should I give user XXX this ALL Access its looking for.
    Regards
    Elroy

  • Hyperlink error : on Exporting crystal report to Editable RTF format

    Hi , In my crystal report I have hyperlink which works normally. Now when I export this report to Editable RTF format; the hyperlink gives error "Error! Hyperlink reference not valid. "
    It works for other formats.
    Please help

    This issue was patched for Crystal Reports XI R1
    Hot Fix Name: commonXIwin_chf.zip
    Adapt Number-ADAPT00408450
    Description:
    When exporting a report with email hyperlink to editable RTF format,
    the links do not work.
    New Behavior:
    This is now resolved.
    Here is a link to the hotfix:
    ftp://ftp1.businessobjects.com/outgoing/CHF/commonXIwin_chf.zip
    If you are using XI R2 and are still encountering this, then please check that you have installed the latest service pack (SP3) - and if the issue still occurs, then this may need to be tracked as a bug again.  However my understanding is that this was fixed for R2

  • "The process cannot access the file ..." occurs when export crystal report

    We are using a web application developed in VS 2005, .NET 2.0 with the bundled Crystal Reports version 10.2.3600.0 running on a Windows 2003 Standard server with 4GB Ram and Dual CPU's. Periodically we are still receiving the following error in our production environment:
    InnerException:
    The process cannot access the file because it is being used by another process.
       at CrystalDecisions.ReportAppServer.Controllers.ReportSourceClass.Export(ExportOptions pExportOptions, RequestContext pRequestContext)
       at CrystalDecisions.ReportSource.EromReportSourceBase.ExportToStream(ExportRequestContext reqContext)
       at CrystalDecisions.CrystalReports.Engine.FormatEngine.ExportToStream(ExportRequestContext reqContext)
       at CrystalDecisions.CrystalReports.Engine.ReportDocument.ExportToStream(ExportOptions options)
       at CrystalDecisions.CrystalReports.Engine.ReportDocument.ExportToStream(ExportFormatType formatType)
    This is occuring at the point on the code where the report is being exported to a PDF. Exporting the report to Excel does not appear to cause the error.
                    Stream outStream = report.ExportToStream(ExportFormatType.PortableDocFormat);
                    byte[] charStream = new byte[outStream.Length];
                    outStream.Read(charStream, 0, (int)outStream.Length);
                    if ((charStream != null) && (charStream.Length > 0))
                        HttpContext.Current.Response.ContentType = "application/pdf";
                        HttpContext.Current.Response.OutputStream.Write(charStream, 0, charStream.Length);
                        HttpContext.Current.Response.End();
                report.Close();
                report.Dispose();
                ds.Dispose();
                GC.Collect();
    Closing and disposing of the report and dataset (xsd) are followed by a call for garbage collection. We are unable to produce the error in our development environmennt and have not at this point been unable to pinpoint a problematic report. The development team members do have SP1 installed. The report limit has not been changed from the standard of 75 jobs.  Reviewed the following document, Re: "The process cannot access the file ..." occurs when export crystal report However this applies to VS 2008. Any suggestions to resolve the issue would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Joe

    To answer your questions:
    Is it correct to presume that the physical number of CPU's is not factored into the CPL? So that a Server with 2 or more processors does not increase the 3 concurrent requests? Therefore 2 CPU's would not increase the CPL limit to 6 processes?
    - Server with 2 or more processors does not increase the 3 concurrent requests.
    What would be an alternate solution to this limit be, considering the report requests could increase significantly?
    - Only way around this would be to web farm the solution
    If only only 3 reports can be processed at the same time. If one or more of the reports currently processing is taking longer due to receiving large amounts of data, how does that affect the queue? And what is stored in the queue, data and/or the report? Is this something that could consume memory?
    - The report can take as much time as it needs. The result is that one license will not be released until the report is done. There is no data stored, just a pointer to the report. However queued apps will chew up memory, some times to the point of the server becoming unresponsive
    I have read in the documentation on this site, that the dataset sent to the engine is copied in memory during report construction. So if a large amount of data is requested for a report (as an example 10+ MB) Could enough users requesting reports drive the memory up because memory usage doubled due to the dataset?
    - Absolutely. See [Crystal Reports Guide to ADO.NET|http://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/boc/index?rid=/library/uuid/401c4455-a31d-2b10-ae96-fa57af5aec20].
    Understanding the the CR DLL's are loaded on the first report request, do they get released at some point time due to inactivity or garbage collection? How much memory usage could be consumed when they load and stay resident?
    - No they do not. Not as long as the application is running.

  • Does BOXI support crystal reports with parameter references in formulas?

    I am designing a report in Crystal Reports XI Developer that contains parameters, which are passed to a stored procedure and are also used within formulas ( in Crystal Syntax ie. {?FORMAT_ID} ) in the report itself.
    I can run the report successfully in CRXI Developer.  The formulas use the correct values from the parameters entered during execution and everything looks good.
    I then deploy the report to Business Objects Enterprise XI.  I do all of the things necessary to manage the report including setting up the proper database connection information and default parameter values.
    When I run the report using the Crystal Report Viewer, I get the following error message:
    Error in File Forecasting.rpt:
    Error in formula <Report Format>.
    'if (not isNull({?FORMAT_ID} ) ) then
    This field name is not known.
    Details: errorKind
    This happens when I press the "Preview" button in the Manage Object dialog from Crystal or when I run the report using InfoView.
    I have changed the formulas and it doesn't seem to matter what the specific content of the formula is; other than the existence of a parameter reference in the formula.  If I comment out the parameter and replace it with a hard-coded value, it gets through the formula fine.
    Does Business Objects Enterprise XI support crystal reports with parameter references in the formulas?
    Thanks,
    Tim H.

    Hi,
       In Crystal Reports under File -> Report Options >check convert Null Values to default > Verify on first refresh > Verify stored procedures on first refresh.
    This corrected the issue by allowing the query engine time to locate those columns and map them to the query being sent by the report.
    The convert null values was added because those field were being used in the record selection and grouping.

    Vinay

  • Export a report though the URL as a PDF with BOOKMARKS

    Hi. I would like to export a report though the URL as a PDF with BOOKMARKS.
    As recommended in other posts, I updated Crystal Reports XI to Release 2 and I am able to export my report as a PDF with the bookmarks within the Crystal Reports tool.
    Is there a way to export my report as a PDF with the bookmarks through the URL ?
    Specifically, I would like to know the syntax of the URL to include the bookmarks.
    Thanks.
    KP

    You need to use OpenDocument feature.
    .NET:
    [http://<ServerName>businessobjects/enterprise115/infoview/scripts/openDocument.aspx?iDocID=<idocid>&sOutputFormat=P]
    JSP:
    [http://<ServerName>:<port No.>/businessobjects/enterprise115/desktoplaunch/opendoc/openDocument.jsp?iDocID=<idcoid>&sOutputFormat=P]
