Exporting Dreamweaver files to another HTML program?

Is there a way to save a website designed and published in Dreamweaver so that it can be opened in another publishing program? We have a website that was designed by a professional however the idea was that it was supposed to be something that our organization could update as needed. I use iWeb (yes, I know... it's a FAR simpler program) but I know you can also use Word now (replaced Front Page.)
I'm guessing it just has to be saved as a .txt file or something, but I'm hoping that someone can give me a better idea of what to ask the designer for. Otherwise I'm about to just re-create the website.

No, do not save the files as .txt files, leave them as .html files... that is, assuming that the originals are .html and not .php files.
Also, do not use Word for the editing, rather get ahold of any one of the other free HTML editors like NotePad++:

These editors will open .html files and allow you to edit them as needed. Just be sure to "Save As" file type .html.
Along with being able to edit the file, You'll also need to upload/download files from your Web host. For that, use an FTP program like Filezilla or CyberDuck:

These FTP programs works as simple "drag and drop" ...drag the latest version from the server to your machine, edit it, then drag back onto the server
If you are the one and only person doing the updates, start by dragging/copying the entire site onto your machine, being careful to keep the EXACT folder and file structure as on the server.
Then future edits can be done directly on your machine without first downloading from the server (since you will have a copy of the latest version already on your machine).
If you have more than one person doing the updating, download the entire site to start with but also when pages need editing, you may need to first download the latest version of that Web page from the server (since someone else may have made edits to the page).
And a tip on editing Web pages in applications like NotePad++, be sure to have "Word Wrap" turned on!
Web page coding is usually indented and spaced to make a neat and organized code layout, which is very helpful in editing the code. Without WordWrap on, the code becomes one big long line... no indents.. no spaces, etc. making editing very, very difficult. This is especially important for inexperienced coders.

They actually moved away from using Drupal as a content management system to an all HTML site to make it easier to do those type of edits.
So yes, you can take an "Dreamweaver" site and edit it in other programs... provided you follow a few guidelines.

and then the audio wouldn't work in Hydrogen...
Now; the previous time I opened Hydrogen, the audio did work, but I made a quick drum track and tried to export it and in the process of doing so, (made it to where the audio stopped working?)
How can I get audio back and export song files?

Are you starting jackd in realtime mode? If not, maybe that's what causes Hydrogen zombification. You could try to start jack manually beforehand, for example via qjackctl.
I can offer what works for me, maybe you want to try to replicate my setup.
I'm using hydrogen 0.9.5.1-4 and jack2 1.9.9.5-4. I start jackd via qjackctl 0.3.11-1 with the following setup:
Generated command line:
/usr/bin/jackd -P80 -p128 -t4000 -dalsa -dhw:0 -r48000 -p256 -n2 -Xseq
I'm not using a realtime kernel, just stock Arch Linux, right now linux 3.12.7-1 (haven't updated yet to 3.12.7-2).
Aside from all that, you can get great help for Linux audio issues at linuxmusicians.com, lots of knowledgable folks there.

why can't i get my dreamweaver files to an HTML file? every time i press create new i open up a HTML that is linked to my CSS, i try to save and it comes up as a .dwt
how can i end up saving these pages as HTML? can't figure it out... By the way it needs to be a .html page becuase that is the criteria for the class i'm taking.

Here's how you create a normal HTML page -
1. Open DW.
2. Use FILE | New... > Blank Page > HTML > Create
3. Use FILE | Save
There - you've done it.
If you are seeing your files saved as dwt files, you are somehow stuck in using a template. If you *are* using a template, then you would have to use the following procedure to create a normal HTML page -
1. Open DW.
2. Use FILE | New... > Page from Template > site & template name > Create
3. Use FILE | Save
Again, you have done it. Both pages are standard HTML pages, although the latter is also the child page of the template you selected.

Need Help With Exporting EPS Files That Will Be Opened In Another Program

I am trying to export some files from Illustrator in EPS format, to be used in another program called "Blufftitler". Their documentation is pretty sparse and doesn't go into much detail. It only mentions the following:
"Limited support
BluffTitler has limited EPS support. It only imports filled shapes built out of lines and curves from uncompressed, unoptimized EPS files."
No matter what settings I try in Illustrator when exporting the EPS file, it won't open in Blufftitler, and keeps throwing me errors. I tried Choosing "Illustrator 3" as the format, and turning off the preview option. I also tried "expanding" the shape itself several times too. Is there some other way in Illustrator to just export a bare-bones EPS files without any extras or other stuff that might cause problems with other programs?
The funny thing is, when I create EPS files with another program, such as Vector Magic, they work fine in Blufftitler - it just seems to have a problem with EPS files created in Illustrator specifically.
Any help would be greatly appreciated, thanks in advance!

The main problem is with BluffTitler is it doesn't have a very good eps handler as it can really only import eps files that are about 10k each and are not overly complex. If you look at all the sample .eps files that come with it, each one is about 1 or 2k each. A simple circle in Illustrator, even when saved as v3 without a preview, is around 258k. The reason for the larger file sizes is due to the extra things being saved in the file that aren't even on the page, such as brush presets and graphic styles. The sample .eps files that come with BluffTitler don't have these presets so the files are already smaller.
Something you may want to try is to open up one of the sample eps files and use that file for your vector work but save the file with a new name. I found that by doing this I could get the files down to a much smaller size. You may also want to setup any vectors in Illustrator first, save them, and then open the files in InkScape, http://www.inkscape.org. From what I've read, InkScape can get you fairly small file sizes so it's something you should check out.

Batch Changing Dreamweaver files from XHTML to HTML

Almost all of my Dreamweaver files were created in XHTML
mode. In other
words, when I created a page and was asked whether I wanted
to make it
XHTML compatible, I said YES.
About the time I moved my websites from my PC to my Mac, I
finally
realized that XHTML is a lost cause and changed my doctypes
to HTML. But
I just discovered that even PHP include files that have no
doctype at
all automatically insert <br /> instead of <br>.
So I'm assuming that
there must be some invisible code that says "Format this page
for XHTML!"
So I'm wondering if there's a way to change every file in an
entire site
(or all my sites) from XHTML to HTML.

I use XHTML because it forces good coding practices such as
always closing
tags. The usual reason most people give for not using XHTML
is that IE
chokes when it is served as xml+application instead of text.
XHTML Strict
does not allow target="page.html" but transitional does so I
stick with
transitional.
I won't use XHTML 1.1 because I don't like the modularization
part of the
spec. I like a nice standard spec and don't want to create my
own picking
and choosing which modules to include.

Apparently some are reporting that this causes the older PowerPC (PPC) applications that are supported in 10.6 via 'Rosetta' to crash upon attempting to open/save/print using any dialog box, or fail in other similar ways such as simply not printing or quitting, or freezing/hanging/crashing of the application.
I have read of some companies that have indeed submitted proper bug reports to Apple, but that is not a guarantee of a bug-fix being issued.

If you are unsure if you are still using PowerPC apps, if the application is currently running, look under the 'Activity Monitior' (in Applications -> Utilities), or alternatively you could check in the System Profiler, Applications. Check the column "Type".
Here is a fairly simple way you can restore you system and restore you applications functionality again, if you don't have a recent clone or good Time Machine backup that you can restore from. If you do, restore from your backup prior to having installed the Security Update 2012-001.

If you are restoring a backup made by a Mac to the same Mac
With your backup drive connected, start up your Mac from the Lion recovery partition (Command-R at startup) or Mac OS X v10.6 installation disc. Then use the "Restore From Time Machine Backup" utility. Select the backup prior to your issues, and it will be restored back to the state it was in at that time.
If you can't easily restore from a backup, you can instead do the following:
- You first start by reinstalling your OS X 10.6.x, this will preserve all your user data, your applications, no worries there.
- Then install the Mac OS X 10.6.8 Update Combo v1.1 (links provided below)
- Make sure you're printers are showing up correctly in your system preferences, if not, re-add the printers
- Then finally, run the Apple Software Update (by pulling down the Apple Menu), and install any and all remaining updates, except do not then re-install the Security Update 2012-001. It is possible that you may have to reboot after installing some of the updates, and you may even need to run it a 2nd time to make sure that you've got all updates, except NOT the Security Update 2012-001.

When you connect the iPod to the computer and iTunes is authorized for your Apple ID, then you will get a prompt to transfer the purchases from the device to the computer. Keep in mind this will only transfer purchased items from the iTunes Store.

I have been printing before. Next I upgraded to LR5.7.1 but the problem stays. Perhaps some adjustment is changed by me unintentionally, but I have no idea. Does anybody know what to check? Printing to file is also strange,the canvas only seems to accept A4, and crops any image relative to that size, so a 10x15 cm print on 10 x 15 cm paper is cropped to 10x15/2. Anybody any idea? (system win 8.1 64, printer HP B8550)

I accidentally solved my mystery. For some reason it was set to "print to file". I changed it to "printer" and now I am able to print.

For single use when having pointed the cursor on that file with right mouse
click choose open with and choose the wished application from the fly out
menu.
For permanent use go to Bridge Preferences File Type Association section and
from the list find the .flv file extension. In this line you can select the
little triangle next to Adobe flash and from the list select the one you
prefer, now the all open in this chosen app.
