Exporting & importing a page having tabs.

Hi,
We are having a problem when exporting and
importing a page, which has tabs, and a
user has customized the portlets on one
tab. This looks like a bug,but thought I will
ask here for any workarounds or settings I
might have missed.
Steps to recreate the problem:
- login as portal30
- Create a page with tabs.
- Grant customization privs to
authenticated_users
- create a user(say testuser)
- login as testuser.
- customize the tab, by adding a portlet.
- logout.
- export the page using pageexp.csh
- login as portal30 and delete the page.
- import the page.
- login as testuser and you will see that
the customized tab is missing!
- As a workaround(a bad one..) I tried
to delete the user ( as portal_sso) and
created it again...but the problem still
exists ie the customized tab has
disappeared.
Any help or information is appreciated.
thanks,
nanda

I forgot to mention the versions that I had.
Portal 3.0.6.6.5 ( from 9ias 1.0.2.0.1)
Oracle 817
on solaris 8.
Richard,
Thanks for that information. Do you know if
there is any quick workaround for the problem
that I described above which I can use until
the patch gets released?

  • Export/Import User Page custimizations in V2

This is a common question customers have about Portal V2. If we have 2 portal environments with same user base and want to export a page group and or page from 1 to the other, how can we bring over user customizations of the page as well?
    thanks

I go with the assumption that you now know how to create transport sets. After having created a transport set containing the objects you want to be exported, go to the administer tab under the main page of portal. There you will find the Export/Import portlet. Here you need to choose your transport set from the first LOV and then click EDIT to choose the "Security Option". Now you export out the stuff. This will export all the user page customizations for you.
    Thanks.

  • How to Export/Import a Page Group?

    Hi All,
I'm having problems to export a page group from a dev server to a production server. What I had done with succesfull:
    - I created the transport set table in dev server by clicking on Export link under page group;
    - I executed the script and generated the dump file without warnings;
    - I executed the import script in the production server without warnings;
When I will Import the transport table to my production server via Oracle Portal Interface, the status of the page group is Fail. Why?
I created the user groups before, that are the same of the dev instance.
Note: In my production instance there is no page group. It is my first export/import of this page group.
What steps I need to do? Am I do anything wrong?
    Best regards,
    JV.

  • Export import a page between workspaces

I have a page 500 in workspace A that I wish to export.
The load it into workspace B on another datebase, keeping the page number the same but with a different delevoper username.
Is this possible using the APEX export/import?
Does the export script need to be changed in any way to make it work?
Can it only be done via sql*plus
I have had limited success, but only when the page is exported and imported to the same workspace in the same database.
    Thanks
    Ian

    Hello Ian,
    >> I have had limited success, but only when the page is exported and imported to the same workspace in the same database.
This is the original intension of this service, although it will also work on different databases, if the workspaces are the same – the target workspace was created by importing the source workspace.
In principle, you can change the p_security_group_id parameter, in the exported file, to the target workspace id, and the system (using the APEX import wizard) will import the page. This is NOT a support action, and you take the risk of encountering duplicate IDs (it’s a small risk, but it’s there). Also, if the page is using shared components, it can also be a problem, as the shared components IDs in the source application are probably not matching those in the target application.

    Arie.

  • Page Export/Import problems

I have been trying to migrate my portal 3.0.7 development to another portal 3.0.8 development database and have been having problems with the page export and import routines. I have been following the Oracle Export / Import document and first come across the problem when importing the content area as it tries to import its content area page.
I have then tried to export / import pages separately and consistently get the following error.
    pageimp.csh s portal30 p portal30 m reuse d pobpage.dmp c Kenny.ogg security
    Start Portal Page Import

The Export command used was as follows:
    pageexp.csh s portal30 p portal30 n PAGE0 d pobpage.dmp c tools.ogg security
As I am migrating from 3.0.7 to 3.0.8 I use the 3.0.7 export script and the 3.0.8 import script. For completeness I have also tried using the 3.0.7 and 3.0.8 import and export scripts, and get the same error.
The version of Portal I am using is the Solaris version.
When I look at the new site and click on the pages Tab no new pages are loaded as expected. Does anyone have a similar problem or am I overlooking something?
    Any suggestions?
    Thanks

Portal 3.0.8 is now available in both NT and UNIX. So you need to upgrade both your platforms and then use export/import between the same versions. That's easier said than done as I have yet to get the export/import scripts to correctly and fully work on exporting from NT to UNIX Tru64. Originally I ran the scripts on NT and connected to the UNIX DB; however, somewhere I saw that it is more relaible to run the scripts on UNIX. So I am trying that now.
    Good luck!
(By the way I notice that Larry declared war on complexity. The laughable irony of this is revealed by a look at these discussion boards!)

  • Export and Import a page from one application to another within same WKSPCE

    Hello,
Can anyone help me out in moving a page from one application to another within the space workspace. I tried to export it and then import the page, but I am not able to do that. I think the problem is with the application IDs.
Plz help me out with this issue.
    Thanks,

    Hi Orton,
moving a page from one application to another within the space workspace
This U can get it, through copying the page from one application to another application within the same workspace
In the top of the page, you have "copy" option.

  • How to run Import/Export for Portal Page

    Hi all !
I have to export the Portal page .What are the steps I have to follow to complete the process ?I'm new to Oracle portal..
Please help . Thanks in advance
    chris

You could check out the Export/Import FAQ for some of your questions
    http://portalstudio.oracle.com/pls/ops/docs/FOLDER/COMMUNITY/OTN_CONTENT/MAINPAGE/DEPLOY_PERFORM/EXPORT_IMPORT_FAQ_1120.HTM
Also see if you can get access to configuration guide for your version of portal. There has to be a chapter on how to use Export/Import utilities in Portal
The simplest way to explain the process is
    1. Click on Export link next to the object to be exported
    2. Give a name for the transport set and export it.
    3. Download scripts for migrating the content and run it in export mode to generate the dump file.
    4. FTP the script and dump file to target
    5. Run the script in import mode to transfer the contents of dump file in target portal. The usage of scripts in export/import mode is given when you run the script without any parameters
    6. Go to the Export/Import portlet and select the transport set for import.
    7. View the logs to see if the migration has been successful.
    8. Go to the navigator and check if the object you migrated has been brought in successfully.

  • Page Export / Import in between two workspaces in the same instance

    Hi All,
I am trying to import a page from one application to another application in a different work space in the same instance.

    Return to application.
    Any help for this.

I got the solution for the page export/import in between 2 workspaces.
Only thing is we need to do some template related changes in the page, item, region attributes .

  • Page export/import problem

    Hi,
I am getting a problem when i try to export and import a
portal page from one schema to other. I have two schemas
installed in the same database. I am able to export and import a
user defined oracle portal page from schema1 to schema2. The
problem is page is not importing portlets in that page. The page
contains some oracle provided portlets and some user defined
portlets. Oracle defined portlets are getting imported
successfully. But user defined portlets are not. Can any body
tell me what could be the problem.
The environment i am using is:
    Oracle9iAd v1.0.2.2
    Oracle9iAS portal v3.0.9
    JPDK v3.0.9.0.1
    Rgds,
    Hari.

    Hi,
what method are you using to export/import pages?
If you are using COPY method than you should not have problems
with portlets on the page as long as new user have privileges for
a new page. I copied pages with user defined pl/sql portlets and
    all of them working fine.
Let me know if you need more help.

  • Like exporting and importing a page

    hello,
As the steps serian to follow to export a page of an application, soon to concern it in another application
it gives an error me: This page was exported from a different application or from an application in different workspace. Page cannot be installed in this application.
    Thanks
    Juan Pablo.....

If you are using 2.2, there is a (slightly long-winded) workaround.
    1. You can export/import the entire application that contains the page you need.
    2. Go to any page in the target application (that you want to copy the page into) and click on the Copy button at the top of the Page Definition page.
    3. Choose the "Copy page from another application" and select the application and page from the application you just copied in (1)
    4. Follow the rest of the wizard.
    Hope this helps.

    Thanks
    Francis.

    Hi Kirk,
    1. Do I understand correctly, you cannot export the application from the server you originally developed it on?
    Exact.
It does not work on same server when I change the appid
It does not work on my test server when I replace the same application
    2. What OS are you on?
    In dev : Windows 2K
    In test : Linux RedHat
    3. Is the workspace name the same from development to production?
    No
    4. Is the parssing Schema the same from development to production?
    No
    5. If you run the app as admin do you get the menu at the bottom of the page that displays the Page not found error?
    No
I am able to export/import all the other applications without problem.
The only difference is that the one that I cannot import/export is translated.

  • Exporting and Importing a page from Development to QA to Production

    Hello
We have tried in various ways to export a simple page (it has only one HTML portlet) and import it into another Portal 309 instance.
The page imports fine (always imports with PORTAL30 as the owner!!) except HTML portlet. For some reason HTML portlet never gets imported. We tried with a calendar portlet and it gets imported fine. We don't have content areas etc. It is a simple Page with one HTML Portlet!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Why is such a simple thing not easy enough?

    Tam,
Try to import the html portlet first. Check the portlet respository, see if the html portlet is in the respository.
    Then import the page.
    Kelly.
