Exporting photos & Burning a DVD-R

I have an album with some pics I'd like to send to a relative. I can't export the album - nothing happens. I have to make a slideshow first, then export the slideshow to a folder, insert a DVD-R, and
drag the folder to the DVD in the Finder. However the result is a QuickTime movie (of course, it's a
slideshow). How can I export the pics and burn a DVD so the result is not a movie. I just want to
view these pictures on my DVD player one-by-one. Does this make sense ?? Thankx for a quick reply........pfalcon.

You want to create a slideshow in iDVD.

  • Unable to view photos burned to DVD from Elements 11

I burned some photos (jpg and tiff) from Elements 11 to a DVD.  When I tried to open the disc on the same computer, it didn't show any files.  However, PSE.VolInfo.dat showed on DVD.  I tried to open with Windows Explorer and with Photoshop Elements.  When I put that same DVD in a different computer the pictures are all listed and open fine.  I am wondering why no files are showing and why  I can't open the pictures on the computer I used to burn them with and where the PSE.VolInfo.dat came from?  How can I burn the photos to a DVD and be able to open them?  Has anyone experienced this type of problem?  Burned them to a CD also and experienced the same problem.

Well since nobody here responded, I called Verizon Tech Support directly.  I was instructed to remove the battery while leaving the power on (that's important--do NOT power off!).  Then depress the power button in succession twenty (20) times.  Replace the battery cover and power up as normal.  All fixed!!!    Thanks to "Julius"  at VZW.  Obviously, this is some type of reset sequence for the Charge.
Depress the power button 20 times with the battery still out or after putting the battery back in?

  • Can I retrieve photos burned onto DVD (I used iDVD)?

I lost my hard drive last week and am in the process of rebuilding my photo gallery. In Decemeber, I burned a DVD with all of my desired photos from 2012 using iDVD. In addition to the videos and slideshows that I included in the main menu, I made sure to burn the actual photos to the DVD as well. Except now, I don't know how to retrieve the photos from the DVD to re-import into iPhoto. Any suggestions?

  • YES! Photos burned to DVD/CD now have correct keywords!

For those of you who've been "unhappy" with iPhoto 5's inability to keep correct keywords associated with photos once they are burned onto a CD or DVD, you will be happy to know that iPhoto 6 fixes that problem.
Too bad we have to upgrade to get that obvious and expected behavior... but I'm just glad to finally have it. Now I can archive some of my less important photos to free up HD space on my PowerBook. When I put the discs back in, I can search for pictures by their original keywords!!
    -Greg

Well you had to ruin it for me now didnt ya?! Just kidding.
I'm able to reimport them, no crashing (at least not during either of the two attempts I've made so far).
But you are right, there appears to be some extra keywords added to some of the photos. All of the photos have "at least" the correct ones... and a few have an extra keyword from the same set of keywords. But hey, at least the discs look accurate.
Now lets see if we have to wait for iPhoto 7 for the re-import process to be fixed.

  • What do I do wrong, cant burn a DVD from FCPX 10.1.1

    It comes with this window

    OK.
Then we'll need some more basic information: System specs; Original media format; project settings.
Are you using physical media or making a disk image?
Have you ever before exported and burned a DVD with your current setup?
Can you export this project with any other share options – for example, a master file? If you cannot, are you able to export another existing or a test project?

  • Once I've burned a DVD by exporting photos so a pc can read them, is there a way to view them in iPhoto full screen without having to open each one in preview?

Once I've burned a DVD by exporting photos so a pc can read them, is there a way to view them full screen on my Mac without having to open each one in preview?

You would have to import them to iPhoto, iPhoto cannot work with images that are not in its library.
You might try some of the other viewers out there.

  • I can not export photos onto DVD. After I click export, close iPhoto, click Finder, At this point I can't find the file to burn. (copy to be used on Windows) Sorry for the lame question....new to mac

I can not export photos onto DVD. After I click export, close iPhoto, click Finder, At this point I can't find the file to burn. (copy to be used on Windows) Sorry for the lame question....new to mac

So it sounds like you are trying to burn a DVD with photos on it so the photos can be either transferred to or displayed on a Windows PC, is that correct?
For the purposes of this I am going to assume you are using iPhoto '11.
Gather the photos you want to burn to DVD in one album in iPhoto. This is not absolutely necessary but it sure makes things easier for me.
Select that album, then go to the File menu and select Export...
In the dialog that shows up, select the File Export tab. Select the setting you want to use for export. Click the Export button.
Another dialog will show up. Set the location to Desktop and click the New Folder button. Name the folder something nice and descriptive and click the Create button.
Click the OK button. Quit iPhoto as the rest of this work will be done in the Finder.
You will now have a folder on your desktop with that nice descriptive name. Find it and select it. Go to the File menu and from it select Burn "Descriptive folder name" to Disc...
Insert a blank DVD when prompted.
Let the finder complete the work and eject the disc afterwards.
    That's it. Best of luck.

    Thanks for the follow up.
In Premiere Elements 13/13.1, your export choices are in the Publish+Share section of the project. There are several choices and sub-choices.
Example: Publish+Share/Computer/and then a list of choices under that, such as, MPEG, AVI, AVCHD, XAVC-S, Windows Media, QuickTime, Image, Audio.
And each has Presets which define the export settings. Adobe offers default settings which are usually optimized ones. But, it also allows you to customize the preset selected. You do that by clicking on the Advanced Button of the selected preset and customizing the settings under the Video Tab, Audio Tab, and, if applicable, Multiplexer Tab.
From what you wrote, I thought that you might be asking about exporting a video with a video codec = Photo JPEG.
To do that you would to to
    Publish+Share
    Computer
    QuickTime
with Presets = either the one for 4:3 of 16:9 as appropriate for your project,
and then clicking on the Advanced Button, and then the Video Tab under the Advanced Button.
Then selecting Photo JPEG for the video codec field.
Tip: The QuickTime choice is not seen unless you scroll down the list of Computer choices. Use the thin scroll bar to the right of the Computer choices.
Please explore Premiere Elements 13/13.1's Publish+Share/Disc/DVD with standard or widescreen preset for your creation of the DVD-VIDEO on DVD disc.
The Premiere Elements timeline destined for this choice could consistent of supported photos and or videos.
    Please consider.
Any questions and need clarification, please do not hesitate to ask.

  • HT201788 How do I burn photos onto a DVD from iPhoto?

I am trying to burn photos/folders from iPhoto onto a DVD/CD but when disc utility opens I am unable to burn any of the items or folders onto the disc.  I thought that my optical drive was perhaps malfunctioning so I purchased a SuperDrive.  However, I am running into the same problem. The folders or pictures within, that I want to burn remain inactive.  How can I burn these pictures onto DVD/CD?

What kind of DVD disk do you want to create?  A data disk that just contains the image files or a video DVD disc that can be played on a DVD player on a TV set.  They are two entirely different types of disks and require different workflows.
If you're running Yosemite then you have iPhoto 9.6 or 9.6.1.
    For a data disk:
1 - select the photos to be burned to disk and export to a folder on the Desktop File ➙ Export ➙ File Export menu.  Set the Kind = what you want, the original file or the current, edited version.
2 - insert a blank DVD in the optical drive.
3 - drag the folder of photos onto the DVD disk's icon.
3 - drag the DVD disk icon to the Trash Bin in the Dock which turns into the Burn function:
    For a video DVD disk:
Export the slideshow out of iPhoto as a QT movie file via the Export button in the lower toolbar.  For iPhoto 9.5 and later selct 480p.
Open iDVD, select a theme and drag the exported QT movie file into the open iDVD window being careful to avoid any drop zones.
Follow this workflow to help assure the best quality video DVD:
Once you have the project as you want it save it as a disk image via the File ➙ Save as Disk Image  menu option. This will separate the encoding process from the burn process.
To check the encoding mount the disk image, launch DVD Player and play it.  If it plays OK with DVD Player the encoding is good.
Then burn to disk with Disk Utility or Toast at the slowest speed available (2x-4x) to assure the best burn quality.  Always use top quality media:  Verbatim, Maxell or Taiyo Yuden DVD-R are the most recommended in these forums.
If iDVD was not preinstalled on your Mac you'll have to obtain it by purchasing a copy of the iLife 09 disk from a 3rd party retailer like Amazon.com: ilife 09: Software or eBay.com.  Why, because iDVD (and iWeb) was discontinued by Apple over a year ago.
Why iLife 09 instead of 11?
If you have to purchase an iLife disc in order to obtain the iDVD application remember that the iLife 11 disc only provides  themes from iDVD 5-7.  The Software Update no longer installs the earlier themes when starting from the iLIfe 11 disk nor do any of the iDVD 7 updaters available from the Apple Downloads website contain them.
Currently the only sure fire way to get all themes is to start with the iLife 09 disc:
This shows the iDVD contents in the iLife 09 disc via Pacifist:
You then can upgrade from iDVD 7.0.3 to iDVD 7.1.2 via the updaters at the Apple Downloads webpage.

The general answer is to select the photo(s) in iPhoto and export to a desktop folder (file menu ==> export). In the finder right click on that folder and burn to disk

  • Burning a dvd of photos compatible with pc and mac

I don't know if this is the correct forum or not.... can someone direct me on how to burn a dvd of pics and videos that is compatible with both a pc and a mac. i exported the photos to a folder on my desktop and have tried to burn with finder, and when i try the disk in a pc there are no thumbnails, nor does the pc have the capability of opening the photos. help!

I am also having this problem. I have a dvd of jpeg's burnt on a mac that I received from my photographer. I can open the disc on my mac, and have copied it using disc utility, but can play neither the original or the copied dvd on my husbands pc (using sony DVD+R). Windows says the dvd is blank and asks if I want to format it. I have the same problem with DVD's of data burnt on friends macbook pro, none are recognised as having any data on them by my husbands dell laptop running windows xp.
Would love a solution to this problem, as 1 year ago I could burn data DVD's from this same computer and play them on that same pc.

  • Burning photos compatible with DVD player

I want to create a DVD (or CD) with titled photos, i.e. an album. How do I export photos to a disc that can be read on a standard DVD player so they can been shown on a TV set? My IPhoto instructions sas the burning feature in iPhoto isn't compatible with Windows, which may be why such a disc won't work on my DVD player. I've tried moving an entire album as pdf but the titles with the photos disappear. Also, does DVD vs. CD make any difference? Thanks for any help!

    James,
In order to have a true manual slideshow in iDVD, you can't select any music to be played with the slides. If you have assigned music to the slideshow, drag it out of the box beside the Slideshow Volume until it goes "poof." Then when you click on the Slide Duration menu (lower left) the "Manual" option will be active, and you can select it. Also click the Settings gear and select the option to "Display navigation arrows." When you Play the slideshow in iDVD, you have to use the little remote control (right arrow) to advance the slides; clicking the onscreen navigation arrow won't do it.
If you wanted music, you can have the navigation arrows displayed and set the duration to 10 seconds (the longest choice). Or set a long playlist as the music and set duration to "Fit to Audio". However, this is problematic, because when the viewer advances the slide the music skips forward to match. It might be okay if the viewer only advanced one or two, but for a true manual show the interrupted music would be a major distraction.
    Regards.

  • HT1257 Burn a dvd of photos?

Anyone able to help me please? I want to burn a DVD with my photos which can be viewed on a PC or played on my UK TV via a DVD player

Export the slideshow out of iPhoto as a QT movie file via the Export button in the lower toolbar.  Select Size = Medium or Large.
Open iDVD, select a theme and drag the exported QT movie file into the open iDVD window being careful to avoid any drop zones.
Or assemble the photos for the DVD into an iPhoto album.  Launch iDVD, create a new project, select a theme and add a slideshow via the "+" button at the bottom of the window.
Double click on  the slideshow button to enter the slideshow mode.  Click on Media/Photos at the right and drag the iPhoto album you created into the slideshow section at the lift.
Select a transition and add any desired music from your iTunes library.
Finally follow this workflow to help assure the best quality video DVD:
Once you have the project as you want it save it as a disk image via the File ➙ Save as Disk Image  menu option. This will separate the encoding process from the burn process.
To check the encoding mount the disk image, launch DVD Player and play it.  If it plays OK with DVD Player the encoding is good.
