Expose looses keyboard and mouse settings

Hi,
My girlfriend iMac is constantly loosing the Expose settings (keyboard shortcut and mouse). I reinstate it to the default, then after a while, they just disappear after a while for no specific reason.
I tried repairing the permissions, but it did not help.
Any idea?
Thanks

ditto, any help out there?
doesn't seem to have any rhyme or reason, except that it happens after I've been away from the computer for awhile, as it either sleeps or is on the screensaver. It doesn't seem to happen in the middle of actually interacting or using the mouse/keyboard.

  • Keyboard and Mouse Settings Keep "resetting"

Ok so I set up my keyboard's F5 to be the Desktop View ( F11 the old way ) and squeezing my mighty mouse, I set to Expose... but every time I do that, it resets itself after like a day or so..
Anyone experience this? I have to go back in and check off the F5 option again, and I have to change my mouse from Button 4, to Expose.
    HELP!

I am having the same problem. I have my system preferences setup to synch with my .mac account. The mouse settings keep resetting on both computers I have synched.
The problem seems to have ramped up since the update to 10.5.3. It is now happening every synch.

  • Using Photoshop CC 2014 on a Windows Tablet without a keyboard and mouse

Using Photoshop CC 2014 on a Windows Tablet without a keyboard and mouse can be quite a challenge. Even if you use the experimental 2x UI. You can not use your fingers or to quickly change tools and change settings. You have no shortcut without popping up Windows touch keyboard or leave it up taking a great deal of screen space.  If you're using the 2x UI Photoshop uses the screen at half resolution so it displays 1/4 the amount of pixels it could.
Fortunately I found a little touchkey utility on the web the lets you design your own touch keyboards. The can be transparent and you can even paint under them as long as you start the stroke  outside the keyboard area. The keyboards can be toggles on and off so you can actually use Photoshop.  The utility is small and requires not installation can be run form anywhere.  I purchased a Surface Pro 3 a week ago.  Its a full fledge PC.  Through the home group I can access all machines in my house and using network shares I can access all files on my machines and the network drive on my router,  I can print on my Epson 4800 printer. I can show slideshow on my HDTV via   Bluetooth using a Microsoft wireless display adapter.   I can plug in my Wacom Intuos Pro wireless receiver into the USB  3 port and use my Wacom tablet.  Have a very touchy machine.  Touch on the keyboard touch pad touch on the Display display and on the Wacom tablet.  Could have touch on a mouse but I prefer the Microsoft comfort bluetooth mouse that has six buttons and a four way wheel.
As a tablet its under two pounds.  Its quite impressive cost why mor the an iPad but worth the cost to me for with windows I can get at the file system.   If you have a Surface Pro 3 you should check out  "Touchkey" its handy.

Do a screen screen capture and post it here so we can see what you stating about a white layout...

  • Keyboard and mouse don't work at all in 1 on 2 times!

When my computer has already been started up once and I start it up again, then the PS2 keyboard and mouse will not work, but only 1 on 2 times precisely! So one time the keyboard and mouse are working, the other time keyboard and mouse are not working. The rest works fine. Quite mysterious isn't it? Who has a solution to this?
If the power has been totally off and I put it back on again, then keyboard and mouse work properly.
I have looked into the BIOS, Integrated Peripherals for something like PS/2, I couldn't find it, I have put out several things in the BIOS, but it didn't work.
Now follows a list of everything I see when I am into the BIOS with the standard settings for integrated peripherals.
Could it help to put items on and off here?

I couldn't find a possibility for a hardware reset in the BIOS. It should be in PnP/PCI. Does anybody know about these things?

Have you tried using a usb keyboard/mouse?
I don't use any usb, only use PS2. Maybe it is possible to use some sort of a PS2 to usb converter, but I would rather like the PS2 to work.

  • Keyboard and mouse won't connect to iMac

This morning, I suddenly lost connection between my 27' iMac and the wireless magic mouse. I had just scavenged a pair of batteries from a remote control the other day and while I wasn't notified of low batteries this morning, I assumed those new batteries must be dead. So I replaced them with shiny new ones and.....nothing. Using keyboard navigation, I tried to re-connect but nothing would work. My next step was a restart. This is where the computer lost the keyboard. So, again, I replaced the batteries in the keyboard and went through the initial bluetooth setup assistant procedure when trying to restart without a keyboard. It would find the keyboard, connect to it and then immediately loose it. I never got enough time to enter the password confirmation the setup procedure gives you. I found an old wired keyboard and mouse and got logged in and I've been playing around with the bluetooth setup assistant with no luck. Both the mouse and keyboard go into "discoverable" mode when turned on (blinking green light) and the assistant sees them but will not connect. For the keyboard I get the message "the pairing attempt was unsuccessful. This configuration of Mac OS X and Bluetooth software could be invalid or unsupported." I'm running 10.6.7, update as prompted and haven't done anything out of the ordinary on this machine recently.
    Any ideas?

    Paul,
I don't think you did anything wrong.  I think it was just "one of those things".  Things should be OK now.
Give a shout if they aren't.

  • My wireless keyboard and mouse do not work on my All-In-One computer?

Q.: My wireless keyboard and mouse do not work on my All-In-One computer?
A.: If your wireless keyboard and mouse do not work even after changing the batteries, please try re-syncing them by following these steps.
    1. Make sure the computer is on, plug in the USB receiver. Push the button on the USB receiver until it flashes blue.
    2. While the receiver is still flashing, press the red connect button on the keyboard (Make sure the batteries are installed). The USB receiver should stop flashing after pressing the button on the keyboard. It may take up to 8 seconds to sync.
    3. Repeat the same process for the mouse. Push the button on the USB receiver, then press the connect button on the mouse (Make sure the mouse is on).
Note: This applies to all MSI All-In-One computers that include the ES500W wireless keyboard and SW130 mouse.

"This machine has an added 4 USB ports, could this be causing a problem?
It definitely could be the source of the problem. Perhaps the PCI card was bumped loose during shipping?
Have you tried removing the card? That's where I would start.
    Keep us posted.

  • Keyboard and mouse not working correctly after installing Windows 8.1

I was forced to upgrade my computer to Windows 8.1. My keyboard worked fine until the sytem did a reboot. Numbers on keypad stopped typing and letters were being capitalized when the caps lock was off and the numbers across the top will only type the symbol above the numbers.
I looked up this problem and it seems I need to enter UEFI settings and disable Intel XHCI mode. When I get into the UEFI settings I cannot make any selection from the startup menu. Both my keyboard and mouse stop working.
    Any suggestions?
    This question was solved.

Thank you for posting a response. Fortunately, I didn't have to try your solution because the computer resolved itself.

  • External keyboard and mouse not working in closed clamshell mode

Hi - can someone help with this strange issue.  Yesterday in closed clamshall everything was working fine. Today I cannot use my external keyboard and mouse.  Note the external monitor does show the screen (after the blue flicker etc), but keyboard and mouse is just not detected.
Using Mac OS X (10.7.5).  Tried fiddling the "mirror" settings etc in the display preferences but nothing seems to help.  Really annoying....please help

    don't worry - figured it out !

  • I have two IMacs and I want to set them up so i can use one keyboard and mouse-   How do i make this happen?

How do i make it happen so I can use two seperate iMac computers as one set-up with one keyboard and one mouse?

If the keyboard and mouse are wired, then a USB KVM switch will work.
If they are wireless, you should be able to connect the wirelessly via Bluetooth settings. discover the same keyboard and mouse on each iMac.
However, you cannot use them on each iMac simultaneously. I think it would be rather difficult for you to switch between them (disconnecting and reconnecting them over and over again).
Most iMacs come shipped with a keyboard and mouse by default. How come you only have one keyboard?
Keyboards and mice are not that expensive either.

  • Keyboard and mouse wont work unless booted in safe mode.

So my keyboard and mouse wont work at all when i start up normally, so i coudnt even log on, then i tried safe mode and i was able to use the mouse and keyboard and log in, then when i loged in i got some messages:
    *+System extention cannot be used+*
+The system extention "/system/library/extentions/IOUSBFamily.Kext" was installed improperly and cannot be used. Please try reinstalling it, or contact the products vendor for an update.+
    And 2 others: MicrosoftMouse.kext and msdosfs.kext
Im pretty sure how i got this problem, i was using bootcamp and i got this program called MacDrive (bad Idea)and it corrupted my HD or something so i had to use disk warrior to fix it. I also used disk utility in safe mode but there were no errors it said.
and this is probably a hardware problem but i cant use DVD's anymore, my drive will only read CD's now, must be broken....
so ya, i dunno what to do exept get my drive fixed and to a backup and reinstall OS...

    Hi
There are no many options which could solve this problem.
It can be a hardware problem or software related issue.
Can you use the internal keyboard within the BIOS?
    Check this.
If this would not be possible, I assume the hardware is faulty.
Additionally I recommend testing the keyboard and touchpad using the factory settings.
Recover the notebook and check if the keyboard would functions. Otherwise you will need an helps from an notebook technician in order to replace the keyboard and touchpad

  • Cannot Access Keyboard and Mouse Preferences

For some reason I've had lots of problems accessing the Keyboard and Mouse preference pane of the System Preferences.
Prior, I could open the pane, and whenever i switched between keyboard, mouse and trackpad, I would get overlap. Basically, bits and pieces from each setting wouldn't disappear when the new device (either keyboard, or trackpad, or mouse, etc) was selected, so everything would look mumble-jumbled.
Now, however, I can't even open the settings. I've rebooted, Repaired permissions and relaunched finder, but have had no luck. When I click on the Keyboard and mouse Button, all I get is a message in the title bar of the window itself saying: "Loading Keyboard & Mouse..." with no effect. Any ideas???

I was having the same problem too. I deleted some preference file (sorry I can't remember which one, I found it here on the forums) and it started working. Sort of... Now I can actually open up the "Keyboard and Mouse" pane, but when I click on the mouse button I don't have the correct options.
I have a 2-button wheel mouse connected, but I don't have the option to assign the wheel button a function. I can't assign the left and right buttons functions either. The only option is to make the "Primary mouse button" left or right. It also has controls for tracking speed, scroll speed, and double-click speed. But I've lost the ability to assign the buttons to the functions I want them assigned to.
The even stranger part is that the buttons do what I want them to do still. My right button acts like a right-click (control-click) even though it doesn't show on the mouse preferences.
I want to be able to change the wheel button so that it doesn't activate my Dashboard but I can't. If I press too hard while scrolling up or down with the wheel the Dashboard is activated. It's so annoying...

  • System Preferences: Could not load Keyboard and Mouse

Hi all, so after inadvertently reverting my Keyboard and Mouse PreferencePane to v3.0 (I'm currently on 10.4.11), my keyboard shortcuts are not being saved. I've tried countless ways to put the current version, 3.2, back into the PreferencePanes folder, repaired permissions and trashed the systempreferences.plist, but every time I open Sys Prefs again, Keyboard and Mouse cannot be loaded. I've tried installing the Pane using Pacifist which results in the same problem (using the 10.4.11 single, ie not combo update) and installing the single 10.4.11 update works, creating Keyboard and Mouse 3.2, but this Pane still cannot be loaded. If anyone has any idea how to make 3.2 work with the rest of my system- possibly with something related to Extensions? that's what started this problem- I would be extremely grateful.

Hi endingstart, and a warm welcome to the forums!
Use Disk Utility to Verify the HD first, then it appears to be time for An Archive & Install, which gives you a new OS, but can preserve all your files, pics, music, settings, etc., as long as you have plenty of free disk space...

  • Can we use keyboard and mouse together with Ipad3

Actually i have ipad3. i want use it like a laptop. can u guide me that can we use the keyboard and mouse both together with Ipad..... kindly reply at the earliest....

An iPad doesn't support the use of a mouse. Is your keyboard Bluetooth - if it is then you should be able to pair to it via Settings > Bluetooth

  • Keyboard and mouse won't wake computer

All of the sudden, keyboard and mouse have ceased to function.  Computer is on, with programs running.  If I shut down computer, it restarts and loads the same programs.  After a few minutes it goes to screen saver.
Cursor is stuck in the upper left corner of screen and won't move.  Keyboard is completely disconnected.  Keystrokes do nothing.  I can't check any settings because I can not access them without a mouse or keyboard.  I've tried connecting a USB wired mouse, and it will not wake the computer either.
Batteries in both keyboard and mouse are new.  Anything else to try before taking it in for repair??

Hello, someSW/HW may be hanging it...
One way to test is to Safe Boot from the HD, (holding Shift key down at bootup), run Disk Utility in Applications>Utilities, then highlight your drive, click on Repair Permissions, Test for problem in Safe Mode...
PS. Safe boot may stay on the gray radian for a long time, let it go, it's trying to repair the Hard Drive
    Reboot, test again.
If it only does it in Regular Boot, then it could be some hardware problem like Video card, (Quartz is turned off in Safe Mode), or Airport, or some USB or Firewire device, or 3rd party add-on, Check System Preferences>Accounts (Users & Groups in later OSX versions)>Login Items window to see if it or something relevant is listed.
Check the System Preferences>Other Row, for 3rd party Pref Panes.
Also look in these if they exist, some are invisible...
    /private/var/run/StartupItems
    /Library/StartupItems
    /System/Library/StartupItems
    /System/Library/LaunchDaemons

  • Keyboard and Mouse Preferences pane is blank???

    Hi everybody,
that's my first post into Apple discussions, so I hope I'm posting into the right forum
I can't change my keyboard or mouse settings anymore since the pref pane is blank (white with nothing on it).
    Where can that come from??
    Thanks for any advice!
    Cheers
    Livia

    No need to thank me
I just like to always have "clean" threads and if the answer is somewhere else, I link to that particular thread
Otherwise everybody who looks for a solution for the same question would have to search through the forum to find my other thread
That's like always leaving a place for the next to come just the way I would like that place to be when I arrive...
