Exposure Importing Problems __  Darker images after Import

Shooting on 5D Mark II.. Shoot RAW and JPEG.. Running Mac with lastest OS
Getting proper exposures in Camera.. Importing to LightRoom using card reader.
Having major problems once I import into Lightroom. My images are significantly Darker.. 3 stops or so.  I have triple checked that I am not applying any presets to my images upon import.  Cannot figure this out!!
Please help with this issue...

Several Things that I'm also curious about...  Why does the tone curve - point curve default to Medium Contrast????   Also , in the basic develop settings, what are the two icons Tone and Auto... Notice how the Auto is highlighted..
Medium Contrast is just the default for all Raw images in LR
Auto is highlighted because you can activate AutoToning by clicking it
A couple of questions again, which might have been asked before:
If you import the .cr2 and the JPEG from your camera, do both have the same dark look?
Have you tried recalibrating your monitor?
Can you upload a JPEG and a Raw sample file to somewhere (i.e. www.yousendit.com) and post a screenshot to them here (don't use a photo publishing site please)

  • IPad iOS 4.3.1 problems with  raw images after upgrading

    Hi all
I recently updated my iPad to iOS 4.3. Since then, I could not view and edit Raw images imported with camera kit although It shows a low res/ low size preview
I'm also experiencing general troubles with viewing some jpeg attached to email.
    Any idea?
    Thank you!
    Antonio

Actually it does. It imports them And once they Are innate uploaded images can be viewed full screen. But if opened with, say, Photogene, iPad shows only a very small and low res thumbnail....

  • How can I re-name a single image after importing it to Aperture?

I am having a problem renaming a single image after importing it - I would have thought it would be simple!  Does anyone know how this can be done?

    Hi RQ,
    Straight out of the manual
    To rename masters
In the Browser, select an image or group of images.
Choose Metadata > Batch Change (or press Command-Shift-B).
In the Batch Change dialog, choose a naming convention from the Version Name Format pop-up menu to specify how you want the masters named. For example, choose Version Name from the Version Name Format pop-up menu to have your master filenames changed to match the names of the corresponding versions in Aperture. If you choose a custom name format, enter the name you want in the Custom Name text field. For more information about naming files, see Automatically Naming Your Imported Images.
Select the Apply to Master File(s) checkbox, then click OK.
The master files corresponding to the selected images are renamed. For more information about working with the Batch Change dialog, see Batch Changing Metadata.
Hope that is what you are after.

  • IPhoto says it cannot import my photos because there was a problem downloading an image, how do I fix this?

Hello! So I have a Sandisk class 10 memory card and whenever I try to import photos onto iPhoto from the memory card it says "IPhoto cannot import your photos because there was a problem downloading an image". I have a Macbook Air and IPhoto 9.5.1.. I've tried a lot of what other people say on other questions like this and it still won't work! I've tried using image capture, creating a new library, and creating a new user to see if it worked there. I have enough space for the photos, so I'm not sure what the problem is. Please help, Thanks!

I had that happen a couple of times because even though the camera displayed the  picture there was a problem with the way it was saved to the chip - and that caused problems with all pictures after it.
My version of IPhoto (ILIFE09) does show where the error occurs on direct import from the camera -- on the camera deleting the first picture where the error occurred allowed import of the others.   Once it was the first picture, once in the middle.
Problem happened when I took a second picture before the first one was 100% finished saving.

I am trying to upload my photos to iphoto. I keep receiving a error message that say "Iphoto cannot import your photos because there was a problem downloading an image" What do i Do?!

Remember: we cannot see your machine. There are 9 different versions of iPhoto and they run on 8 different versions of the Operating System. The tricks and tips for dealing with issues vary depending on the version of iPhoto and the version of the OS.  So to get help you need to give as much information as you can. Basic things like :
    - What version of iPhoto.
    - What version of the Operating System.
    - Details. As full a description of the problem as you can. For instance: 'iPhoto won't export' is best explained by describing how you are trying to export, and so on.
    - History: Is this going on long? Has anything been installed or deleted?
    - Are there error messages?
    - What steps have you tried already to solve the issue.
    - Anything unusual about your set up? Or how you use iPhoto?
Anything else you can think of that might help someone understand the problem you have.
    As a Test:
Hold down the option (or alt) key and launch iPhoto. From the resulting menu select 'Create Library'
Import a few pics into this new, blank library. Is the Problem repeated there?

because there was a problem downloading an image.  How can I circumvent this particular image and import all other photos?

I'm having the same issue.  i have imported everything but the offending photo from my iPhone.  problem is, with over 5000 pics, i have no idea how to find THAT ONE pic that won't import (bc I just get a greyed out pic image - with no data in iPhoto)
any idea how to get "date taken" info of THAT ONE pic out of iPhoto (or any metadata) so I don't have to search 3 years of pictures?
and I do apologize for hijacking.

Just go back in photoshop and use the Slice Select tool, then just click and select the slice and hit delete - if you're not sure which one is the active slice just right click and find the one that has the Delete Slice option.
It's possible you either added the slices by accident or if you received it from someone they just had the slices hidden. For the future, you can go to View > Show > Slices to display (or hide) slices.
