Express Server/RAM Installation

Hi All,
I have downloaded the oes6301nt from technet.oracle.com. I am trying to install express server on a NT 4.0 Workstation. The Oracle universal installer is not showing the Relational Access Manager product when you select Oracle Express Server 6.3 + Custom installation.
However it did install the relational access admin and RAA query statistics modules.
Any Suggestions?
thanx

Hi Ranjan and Dilys
Guess what? Even though earlier today, I put in a posting that I had no clue where exactly RAM is(see below) I just found out from where you can get RAM. This is so crazy. You need to install Oracle express client 6.3. When you are installing, you will see it will show you 4 options. The 3rd option is Express Administrator Install option. RAM, for some reason, is under that option. But now I am not sure if the express developer option and the administrator option will function smoothly if installed on the same machine/Oracle home. Since I just found this out and its Friday night, I wont know if the 2 will work from the same machine or not till Monday(ie. connecting to an Express Server on a different machine and Oracle DB on a 3 rd machine).
So good luck to the 2 of you and keep me posted how it goes.
Thanks
Das

  • Oracle Express Server v.6.3.1.0 installation problem

I downloaded oes6301nt.exe - Oracle Express Server - NT (118MB) from the Oracle web site, unzipped it and start using Universal Installer to install it for stage/product.jar. I specified Oracle Home as OraExpress81 and path as F:\Oracle Express\olap and chose a typical installation.
At about 98% completion, I got an error: Invalid Search Spec or no DLLs found F:\Oracle*.dll on a error meassge box with an OK button. I clicked the OK button and the installation went to 100% and gave me a message "The installatio of Oracle Express Server was successful. I then re-booted the machine.
But when I tried to run the Express Instance Manager, it wouldn't start. It just blinked for 5 sec then quited.
I checked the programs, the installed programs are:
    Program -> OracleExpress81 ->Application Development ->INTYPE File Assistant
    NetWork Administration -> Net8 Assistant
    Net8 Configuration Assistant
    Net8 Easy Config
    Express Instance Manger
Express Server 6.3.0 -> Express Instance Manager
    Express Language reference
Could you please tell me what could probably be wrong with the installation. Thanks for your help in advance.

  • Hang on installation Oracale Express Server 6.3.4

    Hello All
Installation process stopped when progress 95% on file explang.hlp
I waited for 10-15 minutes but nothing changed.
I closed Universal Installer Window. Express server started and working normally,
but installed products are not registered into Oracle Inventory.
How can i finish installation process normally ?
    Type of installation Complete.
    Thanks in advance.

    Hi,
We've seen this before on XP and Win 2000 machines. We believe that this has been addressed.
How did you get the 6.3.4 media? Off OTN or Metalink? I would suggest downloading the latest off of metalink
and try it again if this is really a problem for you.

  • Express server installation

Can anyone tell me if I can install express server in the same server where I have installed Oracle Applications ? I had earlier tried to install oracle express 6.2 version in the same server where I had oracle applications rel 11 installed, but Oracle Appls stopped working when I did this , because Oracle Express server overwrote some of the dll files in the oracle_home directory. This happened because of the fact that I could not have multiple oracle homes, although Oracle8.0.5 version (which I had in my server) claims that I can have multilple oracle homes.
My Apps version is now Rel 11i with Oracle 8i. Can I have the express server in the same server now? Also I have read that Oracle Financial Analyser(OFA) can only be installed in an NT server. I have a unix compaq server here. Does that mean that I will not be able to have OFA installed ?
You could send a reply also at [email protected] or ring me up at 91-080-8410702/3 extn 1017
    Regards
    Sarbani

OES & OFA(Server) must be on the same 'box'. That can be Unix or NT, depending on what hardware you prefer, but you must get the right OES CD for that operating system. (BTW, I think there are ways to have OES on one machine, and OFA(Server) on another machine, but I've never seen it configured like that).
OFA(Client) always goes on the user's machine (Win9x, NT, etc..)

  • SQL server 2008 Installation media

    HI all,
I am trying to install SQL server 2008 express, and in the "SQL Server Installation Center" i select "New SQL Server stand-alone installation or Add features to an existing installation" After selecting that option a window pops up and prompt me to "Browse for SQL Server 2008 Installation Media"
Now, what exactly is "SQL Server 2008 Installation Media"? how am i suppose to locate/browse the installation media on my computer?
i am totally new to SQL server and i am self-learning it from a book, the problem is that the book does not explain where to browse for instillation media!
    my system info:
    Windows 7 Home premium
    64-bit OS
    AMD 2.60 GHz
    6.00 GB RAM

This is a solution for Windows 7 users who used the Web Platform Installer (I'm going to call it WPI).
1 - Make sure you have power shell installed.
2 - Install the sql 2008 SP1.  google it and download it.
    Now comes the detailed part...
You have to get a hold of the installation files without using WPI.   The WPI stores the installer executable on your computer and you have to run it and then get a hold of the directory it extracts before it deletes it.    You need to locate the WPI installation file and then run it manually.  Mine was located at...
    C:\Users\**username**\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Web Platform Installer\installers\SQLExpressAdv\12A6B9C2237817DEEEB3DCE22AFFA25B6794850C
Of course you substitute your own username.   You may need to reveal hidden folders.   If you can't find it try running a search for the SQLExpressAdv folder.
In that folder you will find a file named "SQLEXPRADV_x64_ENU.exe" or something close to it. Run it and either on the first or second step you will see it extract a bunch of files.   Don't go any further after it runs that extraction.   Go to that folder and copy all the contents it extracted to a new folder and whamo.   That's where you will point your sql browse box to.
Now you can uninstall, set up servers,  whatever it is you were trying to do.

    OK
    Click OK again
That fixed mine, hopefully it does the same to yours

  • Help: Install "WebLogic Express Server" license

I am having problem to install my "WebLogic Express Server" license.
As I understand, the "WebLogic Server" and "WebLogic Express Server" use the same
installation file, the only difference is the license. So I downloaded the "WebLogic
Server 6.0 Service Pack 2" from BEA's web site. After the installation, I found
a "license.bea" file under WebLogic home directory. I replaced this file with
my license file for "WebLogic Express Server". Unfortunately, I can not start
    the default server anymore.
Neither the "UpdateLicense" command works: it seems to me that it only merges/replaces
the existing license with the new one. So although I "updated" the "WebLogic Server"
license to "WebLogic Express Server" license using this command, it seems that
I am still using the "WebLogic Server", because I can still see the EJB component
    page in the admin console.
Did I miss something? What is the best way to check whether "WebLogic Express
Server" has been sucessfully installed? Your help is highly appreciated!

  • Hyper-V Host Server RAM Utilization

    Hi,
We are running Hyper-V Environment on a Dell Power Edge R720 Server which has 128GB RAM.
Installed Windows Hyper-V Server 2012 R2 on the Host and created 7 VM's.
Total RAM assigned for 7 VM's is 116GB and remaining available is 12GB. But when i am trying to create a new VM on this host,it says you don't have sufficient RAM to create a VM. what could be the reason ?
How much memory does the Host server occupy and what factors does this take into consideration ?
11GB for a Server Core installation of OS ? i am stuck here ?
    Thanks .

http://blogs.msdn.com/b/tvoellm/archive/2009/12/18/hyper-v-performance-faq-r2.aspx is a blog post that provides the overhead numbers I listed for the VM memory
size, but there isn't a whole lot more to read on that topic.  It is just a statement of fact.  Yes, this blog was written for 2008, but to my knowledge nothing has changed in this space.  The 8-10 MB per VM is something I have observed.
As for the rest of the memory allocated in your host, a good place to start would be Mark Russinovich's Windows Internals books.  They are tomes, but they have all the information you would ever want to know about how Windows works and Windows allocates
memory.  Then, from that information, you would be able to look at your system to determine where the memory is being allocated.

  • Problem booting Solaris 10 on ProLiant server after installation.

    Hi all!
I have a brand new HP ProLiant DL360 G5 server. It contains 6 internal
hard drives. RAID 5 is configured on these drives using built-in HP
Smart Array P400i controller. I've just installed Solaris 10 8/07 on this
server. Solaris requires a driver for P400i controller. I'm using Driver
Update CD created from HP provided ISO image. Solaris 10 is
officially supported OS for DL360 G5 server.
    Installation proceeds as expected:
    1) At the begining of Solaris installation, Driver Update is used to
load HP driver for raid controller. During installation, disk is
recognized as c1d0t0 (the only disk in system); one partition is
    created on this disk.
    2) Disk is devided to 6 slices:
    c1d0t0s0 - swap, 4GB
    c1d0t0s1 - /, cca 32GB
    c1d0t0s[3,4,5,6] - /zones/[a,b,c,d] - each cca 160GB
    3) At the end of installation, CPQary3 driver is installed to target
system without any errors reported. No errors are reported during
    installation at all.
After reboot, GRUB is started. It shows boot menu containing two
    options:
    - Solaris 'normal' boot
    - failsafe boot
PROBLEM: Selecting 'normal' boot leads to immediate system restart.
According to documentation, this case occurs when PCQary3
    driver is not installed.
I'm able to boot using 'failsafe' option in grub. After entering single
user, I load PCQary3 driver to runtime using 'install-du' command.
I'm also able to find instaled Solaris using 'install-recovery' and mount
its root volume to /a directory. Necessary driver IS installed inside
/a/kernel/drv/ directory. Options 'bootpath' in /a/boot/solaris/bootenv.rc
file is set up correctly pointing to device associated with /dev/dsk/c1d0t0s1
device. Also GRUB is able to recognize UFS filesystem for boot partition.
    I've already tried (without success):
    1) Use RAID 1+0 instead of RAID5
    2) Create only 3,5GB partition instead of 700GB large one.
    3) Place / on c1d0t0s0 instead of c1d0t0s1.
    4) Re-create boot archive using 'bootadm update-archive -R /a'
So, everything seems to be installed correctly, but system cannot boot.
Do you have any ideas how to fix this problem?
    Jozef

Sounds like an issue I just had with a brand new X4150, installation and failsafe worked fine, but normal booting led to immediate reboot of the server. This was due to an incompatibility of solaris and intel's newest generation xeon chips.
You can still boot 'normal' solaris in 32-bit mode:
hit 'e' at the grub menu, 'e' again to edit the 'normal' boot entry and add 'kernel/unix' after multiboot. This should boot up solaris in 32-bit mode. From there, download and install the latest patch set (125370-06 and 127112-05 are fixing this issue). After that you should be fine.

  • Oracle Express Server Vs Oracle 10g Express Edition

    Hi Guys,
I have very basic doubt regarding Oracle Database 10g Express Edition and Oracle Express Server. Is both are same or its different ??
Actually I am looking into docs of OFA i.e. Oracle Financial Analyzer, and before installing this I need to Install Oracle Express Server (OES).
Does anyone has any idea on OES
    Thanks and Regards
    JC

Thanks for clarification, I was suppose to write
Oracle Application Express (formerly Oracle HTML DB) .Yup. It's pretty easy to get these mixed up. Especially since Express Server and Personal Express (the BI OLAP tools) really have been off the radar for several years, ever since most of the functionality was folded into the OLAP option of the Enterprise Edition.
So what we have now is "Oracle Database 10g Release 2 Express Edition" with "Oracle Application Express" as a dev/ui tool. And I've noticed that some people are saying calling "Express Server" when they mean "Application Express".
