External Antenna for WRT300N

I have the WRT300N Router and want to install an external antenna to increase my range. I cannot find a method of unscrewing one of the three existing antennas so I can hook up the extending cable. Do I have to break open the case and hardwire it? What connector should I use to solder onto the Router? Uncle Dannie

  • External Antenna for 1240AG is Required?

    Hi guys,
    1. Do the external antennas are required for 1240AG or they are optional or it depends on mounting location and location size?
    2. If it's required and I want to just use 2.4Ghz radio, do I need to buy two antennas or one is enough?
3.If it's required, do you have any recommendation for a small office with a small warehouse? something like AIR-ANT4941 maybe?

    Hi,
    here are the answers..
    1. Do the external antennas are required for 1240AG or they are optional or it depends on mounting location and location size?
ANS - 1242 NEED the External antennas, without the antena 1242 APs will not work.
    2. If it's required and I want to just use 2.4Ghz radio, do I need to buy two antennas or one is enough?
ANS - There are many advantages of using 2 antennas, one of them is Multipath and there are many to pen down..
3.If it's required, do you have any recommendation for a small office with a small warehouse? something like AIR-ANT4941 maybe?
ANS - Here is the antenna accessories link, choose the one which meets your requirements!!

  • External antenna for iPhone4 in car to reduce radiation

I want to use my iPhone for navigation and phone in the car but I'm worried about radiation.
A few weeks ago the WHO is warning about healthproblems and brain-cancer based on using cellular phones also.
Is there any external antenna product for the iPhone 4, so the antenna of the iPhone itself will be deactivated after connect (by using inside the car)?

as far as I know there is no option for an external antenna
but navigation is gps which mean it don't transmit any signals at all (so it don't create any radiation whatsoever)
only part that create "radiation" is the phone and wifi part as they are 2 way systems which both recieve and transmit data

  • External antenna for a Droid?

Does anyone know if there is an external antenna that will work with the Droid? I want to be able to use the phone in my storm shelter to monitor the weather. Right now, if I stand on the steps, and hold the phone up by the air vent, it will work, but not when I'm just normally sitting down. So I want to be able to put the antenna up the air vent, and one of the car antennas would probably work. But how does it connect to the phone?(Guess I should have kept the landline.)

        @phatkhat,
It's great to see that you are getting prepared for storm season. It definitely sounds like you have a great storm shelter there. I truly hope for your safety in this upcoming tornado season.
When it comes to an external antenna. I have found that many of the products on the market are used while in cars or trucks. This extension of the antenna may be beneficial as you eluded to earlier as your able to get signal while close to the air vent. These products come as wireless products in many cases as few phones have additional antenna ports available.

  • External Antennas for WAP54G

    Hi All,
I'm an IT Support Consultant trying to itemise the options for a client who wishes to network their main house to the 'granny-flat' which is about 45 degrees down a slope and about 20 - 30m away from the near-side of the house with line-of-sight access from one rooftop to the other.
Though I insist on only using Linksys devices these days I have never dealt with non-stock antennas and certainly not external antennas. My knowledge in this field indicates I would need 2 x Yagi antennas (one on each roof top) or perhaps directional panel antennas. What I am struggling with is which antenna brands I can choose from, what connectors I need and from there, who I can buy such devices from in Australia. Any specific antenna recommendations would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks in advance,
    Gavin

Well the Distance between your Client's house and their Granny Flat is too much, if you connect any wireless antenna to the access point also, i think it wont be able to transmit the wireless signals to the granny's house.

  • External Antenna for JetPacks to increase WiFi strength

I am wondering if the external antenna ports can be used to strengthen the WiFi signal for your clients connecting?  All I can find in manuals and online is that they are for increasing the 4G signal to connect to Verizon.
    Thanks in advance,
    TMoeZ

No.  Antennas are for the VZW signal used to communicate with the local towers in your area.
If you want to boost the WIFI signal strength then you need to look into something called a wireless repeater.  A repeater will grab the WiFi of the Jetpack and boost it through its own more powerful equipment.  There are many products out there that can do this from CradlePoint, Pepwave and Netgear.
I would post a diagram of how the repeater interacts with the jetpack but it seems like that feature is currently disabled on the forum : /.  If they restore it then I will post it for you. Maybe I can find a link to one of my old posts that you can reference instead.

  • External antenna for USB551L?

I have an external antenna that I used with my previous modem, the USB720.  Although the connector fits (more or less) into the port of the new 551L, it is not a tight connection and I am thinking it is not making contact and therefore useless.  Do I need to buy a new connector cable for this model?

I use a land line when at home.

  • External Antenna for MBP to Boost Receiving Strength

Is there an external antenna available for the MBP that would boost its receiving strength of wireless networks?

Not yet. Give it a bit and then try MacWireless or Dr. Bott - they typically provide that sort of product.

  • External Antenna for 8120

Is there an external antenna booster that is available for the Pearl 8120? I believe there is no jack for it. Would a wireless unit work?

    No, not for the device.
There are wirless signal booster kits you can buy, I don't know of a good one, but I know they are available.

  • When I use a GSI external antenna for WiFi I first get a message that "Firefox is already running but not responding etc", and then Firefox crashes. Can anyone help please?

Because of weak WiFi signal I need to use an external antenna (GSI USB wireless WIFI long range network adapter). My computer can see the signal clearly and shows that I am connected to the right network. But when I try to launch Firefox I get a message that "Firefox is already running, but is not responding. To open a new window, you must first close the existing Firefox process, or restart your system." When I click "OK" Firefox tries to load websites but gives up and reports "Problem Loading". It looks like Firefox is having trouble "seeing" the signal from the external antenna. What do I need to do please?

Try Ubuntu support, I don't think your problem is with Firefox - it will use the connection that the Operating System "makes". I'm a real noob with Ubuntu myself, and don't think I can help you figure out the problem.

  • External antennas for 802.1g for computer?

Ive been having a lot of problems with airport reception on one specific computer. Ive replaced the airport card, tried a bunch of preference tricks and what not, nothing seems to help.
Are there any external antennas i can plug in via usb or firewire to give a better reception? Im beginning to think my antenna may be broken as i can take almost any other wireless device to the same location and get perfect reception.
    Thanks again
    Grant

What kind of computer is this?
Note that when installing the AirPort card that there is an internal antenna which needs to be attached to the card or you will have severely degraded range.

  • External Antenna for N Series 1252

    Hello All,
Can someone please let me know which externally mounted antenna is the correct part to use with a AIR-AP1252 N-Series, (6dBm gain or more, its to cover a playing field)
I've been scouring the Cisco web site for days to find a definative answer and am getting confused.
Ideally it needs to cover both radio bands but if it only does 2.4Ghz, I'll settle for that as my life is ticking away.
Any idea on the wall mounts too.
    All help appreciated
    Regards Tony

Keep in mind that you can use any 2.4GHz antenna on the 1252. Some antennas have three cables for convenience, but in reality there are three individual antennas inside the casing. You can attain the same effect by purchasing three of the same kind of antenna and connecting them to the 1252.
The AIR-ANT2506 is a good outdoor antenna and would be fine for use with clients as long as it's installed close to the ground. Omnidirectional antennas are quite deceptive in how they work - they actually form a donut-type coverage that gets "squashed" as gain is increased. A 5.2dBm isn't too bad, but if you install it too high then the signal will go right over the heads of the users. I guess I mention all that to say that you shouldn't install it on a 20-foot pole on top of a roof. :)
To take full advantage of 802.11n, you'll need three antennas. Otherwise, one or two would suffice fine if you're in an 802.11g environment.

  • External Antenna for GPS

    Hello,
Is there any way to connect an external GPS antenna to the Nokia N95 8gb? I think it's impossible since there is no special inlet on the phone and I supose the usb port doesn't have any kind of connection to the internal antenna.
I think you guys have had the same problem. In some cars it's hard to get a good lock on satelites, so maybe an antenna would fix the problem.
    Thanks for reading.

    Hi davidazevedo
Unfortunately it is not possible and as GPS antenna has been resited to top of phone in the case of N82, it would seem that Nokia has learnt a lesson here.
There is of course nothing to stop you using a Bluetooth external GPS receiver whilst in the car.

  • Car Cradle for Charging and External Antenna Compatible with Tour

Is there a car kit that allows easy charging and connection to external antenna for the Tour?  I had Comfort Cradles by Bury for my last two BlackBerrys, but I just was disappointed to learn that Bury does not have or even plan one for the Tour.  Any suggestions?  If I had known this before, I probably would have stayed with my 8830.  Thanks.

To answer my own query - I just spoke to someone at Smoothtalker and was informed that Smoothtalker will be releasing a charging cradle, with external antenna conttection, for the "Tour" in "about a month."
I still would be interested in hearing from anyone else with any information concerning this.
    Thank you,.

  • External Antenna Adapter for Centro?

I'm looking for an antenna adapter so I can attach an external antenna for my new Centro. I realize that it's brand new, so I haven't seen any specific adapters for it. However, are there other phones (like older Treos) that use the same size?
If I don't find one, I'll have to return it because the signals are terrible at my house without an antenna.

AT&T is supposedly experimenting with "femtocells" (I think I spelled that correctly!)
Small stations that rebroadcast cellular reception, similar to Wifi routers.
