Field Selection _ External services
Dear All,
In External Services, except for service masters, field selection in what way we do.
For example in Service PO, Update Conditions field is made suppressed, how I can I make it optional.
In menu path SPRO-MM-Ext Services - Define Screen Layout, i really cannot understnad how to do that. My requirement is to make Update conditions field in service PO creation screen (ME21N), to be made visible and optional.
Request u to help
Rgds
RaulHi Raul,
Please kindly check the setting to the screen layout as follow :
SPRO -> Material Management -> External Service Management -> Define Screen Layout -> Purchase Order -> Field group "Service Fields"-> Field "Info Update Indicator"
Please kindly check whether the field selection there is hidden or optional. Please maintain it to Optional.

Error while using external service from application service
Hello All,
I have exposed webservice from a CAF project that i am importing as external service in another CAF project. Now i am using application service to directly call the external service. following is the code in my application service:
Ns6_getCountryByCode__R inp = new Ns6_getCountryByCode__R();
inp.setNs6_countryCode(countryCode);
try {
HRServicesWSVi__DocumentLocal bn = this.getHRServicesWSVi__Document();
Ns6_getCountryByCode__RResponse result = bn.getCountryByCode__R(inp);
retValue.setCountryCode(result.getNs6_Response().getNs3_countryCode());
retValue.setCountryName(result.getNs6_Response().getNs3_countryName());
}catch(Exception e){
throw new ServiceException(e);
I am getting the following error
ERROR. Problem in server response: [Bad Request].:
What could be the problem ? Thanks in advance
Regards,
Ashutosh RastogiHello,
It's always a good idea to check the log file. In many cases you find hints what the reason for the error could be. The log file can be found here: <root>usrsap<SID>JC30j2eeclusterserver0logdefaultTrace.<xy>.trc where <root> is probably c:, SID something like F33, F41, ... and <xy> a number 0, 1, .... -> the highest number is the last and therefore most youngest log file. Please check out this file.
Another very common (but trivial) error is that you forgot to specify the URL and the end point location of your Web Service in CAF's config tool. This tutorial explains this beginning on page 20 <a href="https://www.sdn.sap.comhttp://www.sdn.sap.comhttp://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/servlet/prt/portal/prtroot/docs/library/uuid/11669cea-0c01-0010-63b2-b98c35b1b370">Using a Web Service as External Service</a>.

I have created the JCO connections also ,i am able to test them also.I have imported the same into NWDS and deployed the application , its deploying but the out put is the same error.
I have cross checked the models and found that the Model is there in the model types.
Can any one help me regarding this.
Waiting for the response ASAP.
Thanks

I think you mean ear file and not par file. Check these threads. The exception is mentioned to be because of JCo problems only.

re-create your configuration if possible and see whether that fixes it -
External services moved, but SOA suite still gives "no route to host"
We have a SOA Suite integrating towards external services. The external service provider moved the services to a different server, and updated dns entries to reflect this move. But our SOA Suite gave "no route to host" errors when this move was performed, clearly not reloading the changes done in DNS, but still using the old address.
How and where can the SOA Suite be configured to actually time out domain name resolutions, when external services are moved this way. Can we ask it to use hostname instead of ip address.
Bouncing the servers is of course working, but there must be a configuraiton way around this.
bouncing production servers is the final resort.

Accessing BAPI web services from CAF External Services
We have wsdl files that corresponds to BAPI calls. Using CAF, we want to create an external service using those wsdl files and then create an application service which will be in turn used by web dynpro for developing our composites. We did the following steps:
1. Created a new Composite Application Service project
2. Then right click on the External Services, select import, choose Web service.
3. Select 'Local File System or URL' option. Copy the URL from the wsdl file and pasted the URL in the 'Browse' text field and click Next. Got an error in loading the web service.
4. Removed the Proxy Server settings in Developer Studio but in vain. Tried all possible combinations with the URL also (such as with and without the wsdl key at the end of the URL and using the 'UDDI or URL' option under the Proxy Definition of the External Services Import and also with the Window => Preferences => Proxy settings).
5. Since the above options failed, copied the wsdl files to the local drive and then choose that WSDL from the file system. Able to import.
6. Created the application service and provided the custom code for the request and response.
7. Registered the external service in the CAF browser -> Administrative tools -> External Service Configuration
8. Tested the service through the Developer Studio.
The error I get is: ERROR: IOError while working with the message. Check the nested exception: Connect Refused: connect:
Any idea on what needs to be done to resolve it?authentication is required at design time to read the wsdl from bapis. did you provide username and password when importing the web service.
you can always add the username and password to the url to see if you can successfully get to the wsdl. Like that http://<webas_abap_servername>:<portnumber>/sap/bc/soap/wsdl11?services=BAPI_PO_CREATE&sap-client=<clientnumber>&sap-user=<username>&sap-password=<password> -
Using XI WebService in CAF as external service with Logical Destination?
Hello,
I created a scenario WebService -> XI -> WebService in a PI7.1 system. I used the Web Service Wizard in order to generate a WSDL. If I test it for example in XMLSpy it works fine.
We then imported this WSDL into CAF as external service. That also works.
Now we have to map the CAF Service to a logical Destination. This has to be maintained in NWA. But here we need a URL to the WSDL. I cannot use the local WSDL Filed which I from that WebService Wizard.
Is there any generic URL were I can get the WSDL for the WebService which calls the XI Interface?

Edited by: Katharina Seiz on Oct 6, 2008 6:19 PMGood Idea. I tried that. I added the WSDL to a Web Module and deployed it with the CAF ear module. It is now available via: http://vmw2469.wdf.sap.corp:50000/testxi/GLAccountPostingSync_Out_PI71.wsdl
If I test it directly in WSNavigator it works fine, but if I map my CAF Service to the logical Destination which is also using that URL, I get the following error:
com.sap.engine.services.webservices.espbase.query.exceptions.TechnicalException: Deserializing WSDL stream http://vmw2469.wdf.sap.corp:50000/testxi/GLAccountPostingSync_Out_PI71.wsdl failed
If I try to find the service via the function "Search by Logical Destination" I get the following error:
Invalid content type while requesting http://vmw2469.wdf.sap.corp:50000/testxi/GLAccountPostingSync_Out_PI71.wsdl. Expected Content-type: text/xml, received Content-type: content/unknown, used user to connect: most
Has someone any idea what the problem could be?
Thanks and Best Regards

I have configured RFC connections in the administrative tools. Still it is not working.
What should be the reason behind this?
Thanks,
BhavikHi Guys,
i have the same issue when calling a external service ...
I'm calling a web service located on my server, and i get the same error ...
I have a error while the method "loadbycustomkeys" is trying to get data from the web service.
in the error trace i find the same error id : nullSourceOrTargetForMapping which occurs in the readMappingRule method.
have you found a solution for your issue please ? let me know !

Two problems with external services
Hi,
we got a WSDL including three external services. I successfully created a consumer proxy for the WSDL. When calling the methods of the consumer proxy from my WebDynpro application I get some errors. One of the external services is working fine. The remaining two services result in the two following errors:
1. CX_SXML_PARSE_ERROR:XSLT exception. An error occurred during serialization in the simple transformation program /1SAI/TAS5EDCF6F82B037A9F53C1. Error while parsing an XML stream: 'BOM / charset detection failed'.
2. Error (id=SOAP:1.001): CX_ST_GROUP_MISSING_CASE:XSLT exception. Element '<ServiceResponseElement>' missing
Calling these services from soapUI is working fine. So there might be some restrictions in the SAP system which are causing the errors.
Can anyone give me a hint how to solve these problems?
Regards,
RobertHi,
Please note NOT all xml tags are supported by SAP.
Analyze wsdl for unsupported tags,
Check this for list : http://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/scn/index?rid=/library/uuid/40c3a137-1769-2a10-bda9-ad62d508af9c

NW 04s SP 7: CAF, External Service Configuration Error
Hi,
i get an error by calling the <i>Service Registration</i> for External Services (CAF Runtime) in the <i>External Service Configuration</i> Admin Tool.
At the moment i have n external services deployed. The error appeared when i've called the Service Registration for the first time.
The installation was finished without any errors.
The first lines of the exception:
java.lang.NullPointerException
at com.sap.caf.mp.mmr.adapter.ServiceDefinitionTypeConverter.convertExternalInterface(ServiceDefinitionTypeConverter.java:507)
at com.sap.caf.mp.mmr.adapter.MMServiceRetrievalAdapter.getExternalInterfaces(MMServiceRetrievalAdapter.java:547)
Against the link for the <i>Business Entities</i> in the <i>External Service Configuration</i> works fine.

WolfgangHi Wolfgang,

Problem: Field not a member of external service
Hello,
using the NWCE 7.1 SP 5 and the corresponding NWDS I have successfully imported an external RFC "/EDC/GET_IT_MAT_WF" into my composite application. For the imported RFC I have created an application service and mapped it to the RFC. Another application service relies on the mapped application service and is exported as a web service which in turn is used by a Visual Composer model. Everything worked fine.
Now, I have added another parameter "SONDER" to the RFC in the R/3. In my composite application I have deleted the previously imported RFC and the mapped application service and created them from scratch.
However, when invoking the newly added mapped application service I get an exception which reads:
Field SONDER not a member of /EDC/GET_IT_MAT_WF.
Firstly, I have checked the RFC and tested it in the R/3 using the ABAP Workbench.
Secondly, I have checked the newly imported external service and the mapped application service. Both do contain the field "SONDER".
Thirdly, I have undeployed the entire composite application, cleaned it in the NWDS, regenerated, rebuilded, and finally redeployed it.
However, the exception still remains.
What am I doing wrong?
Thanks and best regards
Alexander

thank you very much. That helped. Should have come to my mind on my own.
Hopefully, SAP fixes those caching issues, as the current situation is not acceptable in a production scenario. You just cannot keep on restarting the whole server each time a composite application changes.
