Extracting audio from video clip to use as narration?

Hi there,
I have a video clip in which I want to take the audio of actor speaking and put it onto another video.
I.e. he is speaking about walking in the park. I want to take him speaking about walking in the park and put it onto the clip where he is actually walking in the park.
How do I do this in premiere elements 10?

Hi Bill,
Thanks for the quick response. I guess my question now is how would I do those two things?
In terms of exporting the audio, where can I find that option when I'm on timeline?
What do you mean by "Alt-click" and what is a "muxed file"?
Thanks again,
Mallory

Welcome to the forum. There are several ways to accomplish this, and your choice might well rest on how you like to work, and what you are doing, such as Deleteing Video. First, you could Export/Share just the Audio as a PCM/WAV @ 48KHz 16-bit, from your Timeline, and Import that into a New Project, where the Audio WAV file would be used. OTOH, you could Atl-click on the Video portion of the muxed file, and Delete the Video, leaving only the Audio portion. Good luck, Hunt

  • Extract Audio from Video Clip

    I want to extract the audio from a video clip and use it in another setting as an MP3, AVI, WAV -- or whatever. How do I do this in FCE?

    Export a QuickTime movie and select Audio Only. You'll get an AIF file @48kHz. You can then convert to other formats in iTunes or other software.

  • Extracting audio from many clips at a time

    I have to extract some audio from many many video clips, so I was attempting to do it in one step, but Logic extract only from one clip at a time
    So I'm thinking to use Audio Converter (it can extract audio from many clips in one step), but it ask me the AIFF encoding Bitrate (among 64 and 192 kbps). So I'm wondering... but Logic which AIFF bitrate manages???

    yes, it is possible. Infact, it is the normal practice to add those 10 roles to that single user in SU01 direclty.
    and as I said, user comparison should be scheduled normally in SAP system landscape to do the things automatically, however not immediately but after some time.

    If you want user comparison immediately, then you need to do it manually in the role.

    If all you want is to create a backup of some file you can do:public class Foo
        public static void main(String[] args) {
            Foo f = new Foo();
            f.createBackup("something.xls");
        public void createBackup(String inFile) {
            FileInputStream in = null;
            FileOutputStream out = null;
            try {
                in = new FileInputStream(inFile);
                out = new FileOutputStream(inFile + ".bak");
                int read;
                while ((read = in.read()) > -1) {
                    out.write(read);
                out.flush();
            } catch (FileNotFoundException e) {
                e.printStackTrace();
            } catch (IOException e) {
                e.printStackTrace();
            } finally {
                if (in != null) {

  • Extracting audio from short clips

    My previous post/question seems to have disappeared so I apologise for a repeat: I'm noticing (and this started happening just recently) that it takes now about 10 minutes to extract audio from even very short clips (10 seconds long, say). It used to be clip-length-dependent, now it's flat 10 minutes no matter how short the clip. It's driving me nuts because it's an enormous slowdown of the workflow.
    Anybody has seen this and knows about a workaround?

    it takes now about 10 minutes to extract audio from even very short clips (10 seconds long, say)
    Is the underlying media clip also 10 seconds? Or is it much larger and just edited down to 10 seconds?
    iMovie HD extracts audio from the WHOLE underlying media clip but displays just the part that is not edited off. So extraxting audio can take time when deailing with such clips.
    Do a test: Export the just the selected 10 second clip as Full Quality DV and import it back (so the media clip really is just 10 seconds). Then extract audio from that 10 second clip. Is it any faster?

  • Audio From Video Clip

    I want to use and save as a mp3 only the audio from a video clip. I've detached the audio and
    tried deleting the video file but both the audio and video clip is deleted.

    MacOs doesn't support mp3 as an export-format. so, this is a two-step process:
    • in iM, 'Export with Quicktime' your project, choose 'aiff' as Export option (=audio only)
    • import that file into iTunes, which has to be set in its Prefs to 'convert imports to mp3'
    you'll find the resulting .mp3 by ctrl-clicking on your track in iTunes, 'Reveal in Finder'.

  • Detaching audio from video clips

    Hi
    After trying the standard 'detach audio' button I cant seem to find a way to completley detach audio from a clip in order to hear the track I have added to the clip. All I can seem to do is turn the volume right down, and inturn still able to hear it, which is proving annoying!
    Any ideas would be appreciated!
    Thanks

    Thanks for your reply Geoff,
    I basically have a soundtrack 3.28 minutes long which I want to be the only noise thats playing throughout my interchanging video clips, so I would like to completley move the audio from the all of the indivdual video clips that I am adding in, I thought the 'detatch audio' button would be the one for this, but as I continuously play back bits of the movie to prefect editing I can still slightly hear the sound from the individual videos that I am adding?
    So frustrating, but Im sure thats its something real basic that I am missing.....

  • Audio from video clips

    I tried combining video clips into one movie through imovie, the video was there but not the audio from the clips. What can I do to fix this?

    The conversions played sound in QT, but no sound in the editor... What can I do so I don't lose the audio?
    Open the Event file(s) with the QT Player and check the "Inspector" window to make sure the file, as imported to iMovie '08, still has its audio track in tact. If it does and the missing audio is limited to scrubbing Event files, check the audio switch under the preview window to see if it is off. If no audio is present in normal playback/preview mode, then thumbnails could be bad and you might try re-thumbnailing the events. If the problem is on the project side, try duplicating the project and see if the duplicate has sound. If you still don't have audio, try trimming the duplicate project to a very short sequence and exporting it to see if the output has audio. This assumes you have audio everywhere else and it is not a system wide problem like muting, system sample rate switched to a different setting, system volume turned down, etc...

  • Extracting Audio from Video With QuickTime Pro?

    I read on another discussion board that QuickTime Pro could record/extract audio only from a video file. So I purchased the QuickTime Pro upgrade today (for Windows XP) but can't seem to find out how to do it, assumimg that post was correct and it can be done at all.
    The Nero video editing software I use can get the video file in MPEG-2, MPEG-1, AVI and other formats. I tried MPEG-1, but even the conversion to QuickTime's .mov format came up with no audio at all. I noticed a post here saying that was a limitation of the software. I could purchase the QuickTime MPEG-2 add-on but that seems to only allow playback and doesn't look like it will help any.
    Another post on the other discussion board said that virtualdub.org has a software program that could do this extraction, but silly me I went with Apple and was delighted to read about the no refund policy just now. :-/
    I'm guessing another possible approach is some kind of hardware solution -- a recording device of some sort?

    In order to extract a track (video or audio) the file first must have those as independent tracks.
    MPEG 1 and 2 are "muxed" (video and audio in the same track) so QuickTime Pro has nothing to extract.
    MPEG Streamclip (free) can convert .mpg and .mpeg files to QuickTime formats.
    If you export from Nero as .avi you can also use QuickTime Pro to extract tracks as it will have at least two.
    MPEG 1 and 2 are playback formats and are not intended to be edited.

  • Extracting audio from video file to edit...

    i know in imovie it's easy you just select the video then go up top and select the extract audio tab...
    but how can you extract the audio from a video file in final cut so are able to edit the audio and video files separately from one another WITHIN final cut??

    no output volume? ... you need to check your setting under the View menu > Audio Playback ... where are you sending the audio? maybe you're routing it to follow the video out through firewire to your DV device, in which case you need to turn up the speakers on your DV monitoring equipment
    ...or is this a muxed MPEG file? if so you need to demux it before bringing it into FCP, or better still, convert it to a more appropriate edit codec (you can use the excellent and free MPEG Streamclip application to do this)

  • Audio from video to CD using chapter markers for song separation

    Dear All,
    I have a client who wants audio only exported from a 2 hour plus original musical video performance and put on CD. I would like to separate the songs on the audio clip so that they can be individually searched by the CD remote rather than just having one long 2 hour plus soundtrack...a lot of work, believe me due to the number of songs involved!
    Is there an easy way to do this other than by exporting each song as a separate audio clip? If I create chapter markers and then delete the video track, will the chapter markers remain embedded in the audio portion during the export? I am working with Final Cut Studio 2 which includes DVD Studio Pro and Soundtrack Pro. I also have Toast Titanium 8.
    Thanks for your help.
    Barb

    When I need to do this, I export the audio from the QuickTime file into an AIFF file which I then open in a Soundtrack Pro multi-track project, use the razor blade tool to mark the tracks/chapters, then move them into a separate track in the multi-track project (all starting at the very start of the timeline), making as many new tracks as needed.
    Then, you need to export one track at a time: mark an in point at the beginning of the project then an out point at the end of the piece of audio in that particular track, solo the track and export mix, giving the tracks numbers as you go - as it's only one track, your mix wil be one track of audio. Continue this through all the tracks, which you can then import into iTunes and, as they're numbered, you'll know which order to put them in on the CD.
    I know it sounds long-winded but it's easier than it sounds! Hope it helps,
    Chris

  • Audio from video clips not playing

    this is weird, the audio associated with my video clips plays in the viewer, all the audio wave are present, but they are not all playing with the time line. one clips audio starts playing then cuts out. All my other tracks (music) are playing good. I have tried selecting and deselecting, and mute, also tried restarting, rendering and unrendering, and everything else mentioned in other similar cases with no luck. I am running a system with an inadequate graphics card, but this is audio right, simple right?

    If your audio is 32 bit, then it's not 16 bit.
    You audio will need to match your sequence settings. You are likely looking for audio to be 48Khz/16bit
    Take the offending piece of audio and export it with the appropriate settings to match your sequence.
    1 Select your sequence, then choose Sequence > Settings.
    2 Check the sample rate of the sequence in the Audio Settings area of the General tab,
    then click OK.
    3 Select the offending audio clip in the Browser that you want to convert to a new sample rate.
    4 Choose File > Export > Using QuickTime Conversion.
    5 Choose AIFF from the Format pop-up menu.
    6 Click Options.
    7 In the Sound section of the Movie Settings dialog, click Settings.
    8 In the Rate pop-up menu, choose the sample rate of your sequence, then click OK.
    Make sure the size is kept at 16-bit.
    9 Click OK.
    10 Choose a new name and location for the new file, then click Save.
    Once the conversion is complete, you need to import the new media file into
    Final Cut Pro.
    11 Import the newly converted audio media file, and use that as the audio portion of your clip.

  • Audio from video clip and layering

    ok, I need help! I finally figured out how to take audio from a video clip and place it over pictures or layer it over other audio. Now, I want to start with a video clip, it happens to be an interview, cut away to some pictures or other muted video, and come back to the interview, all with the audio playing the whole time and lined up correctly....how do i do this? THANKS!!

    Thanks David
    I found this here http://www.apple.com/findouthow/movies/#tutorial=extendaudio
    To extend audio across multiple clips:
    1. In the Project area, select the clip that contains the audio you’d like to extend into a second clip. Select the last few seconds of the first clip that contain the audio you want.
    2. To split the first clip, choose Edit > Split Clip.
    3. Control-click the selected clip and choose “Reveal in Event Browser.”
    4. In the Event browser, Command-Shift-drag the clip to extract the audio and place it at the start of the next clip.
    5. Delete the video portion of the clip you split in step 2.
    Because you’ve extracted the audio from exactly the part of the clip you split, the audio seamlessly plays across the next shot
    I am going to try this tonight and see how easy it is
