FaceTime and imessage not working in South Africa

Help! I'm in South Africa for a month and my iMessage and  FaceTime aren't working. When I try to imessage someone, the message says "turn off airplane mode or use wifi to send and receive messages" but i have full wifi strength. When I try to FaceTime, it says to check the number, it might not be complete. I've tried calling the number as usual, then the international number to ca from South Africa to the US.
I have an iPhone 5s, My email is working fine. My phone is on airplane mode but I have full wifi strength. My date and time is set automatically to Cape Town. Please someone help me figure out why this isn't working! I can't find any other solutions on the internet. Thank you!

backup the device with itunes.
Restore the device with itunes and set up as new.
Sign into the facetime and imessage to activate it.
After that is done and activation is good.
Restore from the backup.
Then make sure to sign into facetime and imessage again and you should be good to go

  • IOS 6 disaster. Facetime and imessage not working. sync problems

    Hi all.
I just wanted to know if anyone else  has experienced so many bugs with iOS6?
Upgraded to an ipad 3 32GB  wifi . Gave my dad ipad 2(restored and logged in with his apple id).
All was well. Then iOS 6 came along
I am able to log into my apple id but everytime i try to sign into facetime it says username or password is incorrect.
it worked a couple times but then stopped working again.
I am positive the password is correct.
I reset the password and am using the new one.
    It is correct.
    Restored the ipad.
worked for a while.. then the same thing
now i can't sync, Am getting an error message . Currently restoring the ipad again.
I am able to purchase items on itunes still on my desktop and my apple id seems to be working otherwise.
    Facetime and imessage is not
    please help?
anyone else experienced similiar issues with iOS6 ?
It should be mentioned that i couldn't purchase items directly from my ipad with the appstore for a period of time but it worked when i purchased through itunes on my desktop
Are these bugs associated with iOS6?
Again any help will be greatly appreciated
    Cheers

I have the exact same problem!! it's been driving me crazy!! I have iPhone 4 but my iMessage works fine however.
Just the FaceTime doesn't work at all, my phone number is registered ,
just when I try to add my email (apple ID) to make the facetime works & activate .. I write down my email & password correctly , it says password is incorrect! =(((
I changed my password, I tried resetting the settings and turning on & off the phone and all. Nothing Works!!
this is one of MANY bugs I have after I updated (& made the most terrible mistake of my life) to iOS 6 !!
Apps are crashing & force closing including their new app store. Youtube application is vey slow. Maps aren't accurate not even half the quality of google maps. Screen freezes sometimes =((
I'm very disaapointed at Apple seriously!! this could be their one mistake that will drop down their whole legendary iPhone into the sewer!

  • Facetime and iMessage not working after upgrade to Mountain Lion

Was running Messages (beta) and Facetime on my Macbook Pro with Lion.  I used both Facetime and sent iMessages through the Messages client, and they were both working 100%.
Today I upgraded from Lion (latest version) to Mountain Lion.  All is working except iMessages (through the Messages application) and Facetime.  When I try to log in, using the same @gmail.com account as I had done before, I get the message saying "The server encountered an error processing registration.  Please try again later".
I know that iMessage, with that account, is working.  I am using it from my iPhone and it works ok.  And I use the same account in iTunes, and it is ok there as well.
So what is wrong ?  What happened with iMessage and Facetime connectivity after the Mountain Lion upgrade ?

    backup the device with itunes.
Restore the device with itunes and set up as new.
Sign into the facetime and imessage to activate it.
After that is done and activation is good.
    Restore from the backup.
Then make sure to sign into facetime and imessage again and you should be good to go

  • FaceTime and iMessage not working on MacBook Air (Late 2010)

I'm trying to login with my icloud account in facetime and imessage with my MacBook Air (Late 2010) but never login. In other device, as my New Mac Mini I can logged-in right. There any problem with FaceTime and iMessage working on Yosemite in old MacBooks?

    Hi,
It would really help to know what you actually see when this happens.
Is there any sort of error message ?

  • Iphone 5 doesnt accept ID password, facetime and imessage not working,

Im not sure if its to do with the new update 6.1.4 but my imessage suddenly stopped working. I checked my settings and saw that my email addresses associated with it were deleted. I would do hard resets but it wouldnt solve the problem. Then imessage was only partially working, sending imessages to certain individuals and text messages to the others. When i would try to add my email it would say that my password or ID is incorrect. I was thinking, no this could not be. I signed in and out of Itunes with no problem. I even signed on appleid.com and it worked. I tried it on my ipad which worked.
I was scratching my brains. so I had an idea,
I proceeded to reset network settings......BIG MISTAKE!!!
Now, along with my imessage and facetime problems, I cannot connect to my wifi at home. when I enter the password it says it is incorrect. I have also tried entering the wifi manually but to no avail.
I connected my iphone to itunes but it wont back up my data saying an error occured but it doesnt specify the error.
Iv also noticed that if i press and hold an app, and it starts shaking, the crosses next to the apps that I hav purchased whether it is free or not does not show the 'x' next to them so I cant manually delete an app.
What is going on? Is so frustrating because now I have to rely on my data and its depleting fast.
Iv booked an appointment with the Genius bar for next week but I am hoping I can sort this out before hand.
My first iphone and I was enjoying it up to now, not happy at all!

    Exact same issues here.
No, resetting iPhone via sleep/wake & home button does not work.
I also reset network settings and now cannot connect to wifi, says password incorrect , when it is not. IPad, other iPhones are connecting fine to the network so that is not the problem. Entered wifi settings manually and tried every possible Security setting. Even tried entering my network under " other" in choose a network and put name of my network exactly as it is and it says it can't find that network.
Just in case you're thinking to say,  go to wifi and select " forget this network " , the option to do that is not even there, so that is a no go .
iMessage and FaceTime keep saying incorrect password , when it is not.
I know what I am doing with Apple products and have never had a problem I could not fix myself until now.

  • FaceTime and iMessage not working after 10.9.2 upgrade

After upgrading I am unable to sign into FaceTime or iMessage on my 2010 Macbook Pro 13"
Ive used troubleshooting steps from the following:
    FaceTime for Mac: Troubleshooting FaceTime
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ts4185
FaceTime, Game Center, Messages: Troubleshooting sign in issues
    http://support.apple.com/kb/TS3970
    Neither of which worked.
the wheel just spins and after a while i get a message stating "unable to log in, check network connection and try again." I am connected and my AppleID and email are verified.
    Any solutions?

JRob90 ... I updated to 10.9.2 this evening on two machines.  On one of them, I hit what looks like it could be the same problem as you BUT it's only impacting iMessage .... now.
The machine where  everything worked fine is one where the AppleID is a "more traditional" mac.com ID that's also tied to my wife's phone.  On the machine where it is failing, the AppleID is a non-Apple e-mail address used just for messaging and I don't use it on an iPhone or other devices.  Note: this was all working just a few hours ago before the update.  Facetime was also failing on this second machine but I logged into the AppleID site, reset my password (since I figured I might be typing it in wrong) and deleted the phone numbers because they were showing errors when I tried to update one of them.  Then I re-added the phone numbers to that account and now Facetime is indeed working for me.... I'm not sure if this is simply because I confirmed I was entering the right password or possibly now the phone numbers are recorded correctly with the AppleID .....
I do see identityservicesd Warnings in the console when trying to connect to iMessage -AND- to Facetime, but the difference between these messages is the "Service Type" (as expected) and the "Base Number" which shows my real (and correct) mobile phone number for Facetime but shows +10000000000 for iMessage.
I know this probably does not help you .. but maybe you can see if your problem is isolated to iMessage like I am seeing too.....

  • Facetime and iMessage not working on Mavericks OR iPhone 4s

Since downloading and installing Mavericks i have completely lost all funcionality of my iMessage and Facetime. Not just on my Macbook Pro i5 4GB, but also on my Iphone 4s. Facetime calls just ring endlessly and are never recieved. iMessage messages seem to send and give delivery reports but not one of my messages have been recieved. I also had trouble using 3rd party softwarre such as Viber which was doing the same.
If im honest im absolutly furious about this as im away working and the only way of communication i have with my family is through facetime/facetime audio and iMessage.
I have looked into reverting back to Mountain Lion but seems like a complete farce. Surely, having paid for Mountain Lion i should be 'allowed' to revert back. If ive bought a product i should be allowed to use it..  I am seeking legal advice on this point as we speak.
Having been an Apple user for 10 years i am totally at odds with what has happened to a company i once trusted and respected. a complete sinking ship.
Any help on the issues im facing would be more the appreciated.
    Thanks

Imessage also doesnt work during this time. Red letter says "not delivered"
Only optin was to try again, and of course failed again.

  • Facetime and imessage not working on ipad

I updated to ios 7.0.2 and now my iPad iMessage and Facetime isn't working.  Also, my iPad used to sync with my iPhone and the iPad phone number would show up in my iPhone.  Now that's not happening either since the update.  I reset the ipad, started over from scratch and set up from the beginning but nothing...
I have also watched YouTube video and follow the set up instructions but still no iMessage and Face Time.

    Try Reset all settings
    Settings>General>Reset>Reset All Settings
Note: Data will not be affected but settings will be reset.

  • Facetime and iMessage not working Sometime

Hi, my first time on this board and just wanted to see if people are having the same problems i've been having.
I have been having problems sending iMessage to my New iPad (3rd Gen) when it's been on standby more than 10 minutes. when trying to send iMessage to it it doesn't get delieverd, it will eventually deliever the message 30 minutes later but that's just dumb!
Also on FaceTime it's having the same problem, whenever it's been on standby longer than 10 minutes and I try to call FaceTime to my New iPad the call will never go through.
I have no trouble making FaceTime Calls or iMessage from my iPad it's only when I try to iMessage or FaceTime call to my iPad. Also, whats weird is after I initiate the Call or Message I can message back and call back without any problems.
I called Apple and they thought it was a Hardware problem so I sent it back and got a new one but the same thing is happening to the new one. Does anyone else have the same problem? if so do you know a solution?
    Thanks,

You may have standby set up for 10 minutes which is a power saver mode which turns the screen off.
Set this higher if you need too but it only goes into standby if your not touching the screen too, so touching the screen somehoe to scroll or zoom for instance will restart the standby timer.
Its a bettery saver mode and can be adjusted under settings, general.
There is also a notification option that allows notifications to show up differently on the ipad.
    Settings, notifications.
I have mine set to show up at the top center pull down so they show up anytime. The other options i tend to close if they are popping up in my way, so i close them and i forget they came in.
