Factory unlock from AT&T

I got the unlock approval from AT&T for my 5, went through the completion process several times (backup and restore) but it still does not appear to be unlocked. My new SIM is still unsupported, and I never got the "congratulations your iphone is unlocked..." message. Any suggestions?

You need to back up, the "Restore iPhone", not "Restore Backup".

Samsung Note 4 factory unlocked from ATT

My friend is selling his ATT Samsung Galaxy Note 4 which he originally had factory unlocked from ATT when he first purchased it (there is no ATT logo on the back as well). Would my Verizon sim card work in this phone or is it not compatible since it was originally with a different provider?

While some of the radio technology may work with Verizon, it is not guaranteed. You will not have full functionality of all radio bands and some other features. You will basically have a handicapped phone and might find that rather unpleasing.
unlocked GSM phones used on other GSM networks isn't quite as big of a deal but in the case of any Verizon service I strongly suggest a Verizon phone to get the service and quality you will no doubt expect. You won't get that same service out of a GSM (ATT/T-Mobile) phone on a CDMA (Verizon) network.

Will the iPhone 5 be available with Factory Unlock from Apple as the 4S was?

I have got my Iphone4 from UK through the online store and it is a factory unlocked one.
I would like to know as in without inserting the Micro-sim card, can I use the basic features of Iphone4 like camera, calendar, etc as for me it still pops up with the message insert a sim card etc.
I would also like to know if there are any existing users of Airtel Network in Bangalore or anywhere in India using an Iphone 4 without any problem.

I got my Iphone 4- 16 GB from *UK'S online store* (_It is a factory unlocked one_),
Firstly, when i switched on my Iphone4 it was displaying the message no sim card inserted and that i have to connect to ITunes, but all i needed to do is get my *Airtel(Bangalore, India)* Sim Card cut into a Micro-Sim Card and that's all guys just connect your phone through ITunes and get it activated.
If you guys want to use the same micro sim card in your normal mobile phones, don’t worry just get your sim card cut through a *Micro Sim Card Cutter* and through that you can get the outer part of the sim card which can be used with other phones which need a normal sim card or a mini sim card.
Hope this post helps many who have doubts whether the Iphone4 will work in India even though it is not launched till date in India.

To the best of my knowledge, all iPads sold directly from Apple are unlocked. The only caveat would be if you intend to puchase in the US; if so, you'll need to make sure you purchase the GSM (AT&T) model, not the one intended for use on Verizon's network.

Will my current iPhone 5 factory unlocked from Apple support T-Mobile's 4G LTE when T-Mobile launches the iPhone on April 14th?

Okay so it has been announced that T-Mobile will be selling the iPhone 5 and it will also support their 4G LTE networks. My question is, if I bought a factory unlocked iPhone 5 from the Apple store (2 weeks ago) will it support the 4G LTE T-Mobile networks? Or will be stuck with the insoncistant 3G and Edge speeds? I have the A1428 model.

Reguested LEGAL factory unlock from Rogers

TO THE MODERATOR, WHO HAS REMOVED MY PREVIOUS POST:
THIS IS A LEGAL UNLOCK OFFERED BY MY PROVIDER (ROGERS)
Ordered the $50 remote unlock from Rogers for my I-phone 4 .
After getting off the phone with the agent it was my understanding to do the following in order to complete this procedure:
1)Hook up to I-tunes
2)Go into:            File---Devices---Backup
3)Then go into:     File---Devices---Restore from backup
Sounds simple enough, but after i completed this operation, there was no messages of any kind saying that the unlock was sucessfull or anything that would indicate, this has worked at all....
I tested by inserting a sim card from another operator to no avail...
I called Rogers tech support and the lady on the other end wasn't very helpfull...she also kept reffering to buttons and menues i couldn't even find on my i-tunes and her English wasnt the best, so the issue remained unresolved...it was getting late so I decided to call it a day...
The next day I called Rogers again and i had a gentelman verify that the unlock was sucessfull on their end....also he offered to sent the unlock instructions by e-mail, just in case I missed something.
The instructions are kind of vague, contradictory there are few different options and they end obruptly without saying stuff like "your unlock should now be complete" or anything like that....
Still, from this information I was able to filter out that the the procedure I have done earlier was one of the available options, but I will give you an example what I mean by contradictory...
"In order to unlock your iphone you need to perform backup and restore, before attempting to unlock your phone"
So far so good, but the very next sentence is:
"Restoring your device will erase all data from your phone including songs, videos, contacts, photos...etc" (thanx god that hasn't happened)...
Now it gets confusing, because if the restoring your phone from back-up is the step 2 (final step), where is the step 3 in which I get all my data back?
There is no mention of step 3 and I don't want to lose all my data.
Also the term "restore from backup" logically implies, that my phone should get restored to what it was before I hooked it up, plus the unlock.....
If hovewer the term "restore" is used in connection with erasing all of my data (very counter-intuitive at best)....how do I restore for real? (getting my data back)
This is only one small example of inconsistencies with which which these instructions are riddled....
As I have implied before, I was able to understand and perform the File---device---back-up and File---device---restore ftom backup, but with no success...
What em i doing wrong?    Thanx in advance for any replies...

For example:
iTunes can create backups of your iOS device when you:
Sync with iTunes (disabled if you have iCloud backup turned on)
Right-click (or Control-click) the iOS device in iTunes under Devices and choose Back Up
Use these steps to manually back up your iOS device using iTunes:
Connect your iOS device to a computer with the latest version of iTunes installed.
Click the File menu and select Devices > Back up.
Few personal observations:
"iTunes CAN create backups of your iOS device"
Can is a very vague term, does that mean it will?
And if so, how do I know that it did?
Does that mean if it does, I now no longer have to do it manually, as suggested below?
Or do I have to do perform the manual operation on top of that?
Also If I do the manual only, is it going to clash with what the iTunes supposedly CAN do in the previous paragraph?
Also there is no separate "devices" button in my iTunes...
If they meant the one, which can be acessed through clicking "File", why would I need to "right click" it, since it allows me to do the "backup" using the regular "left click"?
I'm very confused by the wording, I'm assuming that there are probably certain things in there that go "without saying", but I if I don't know what they are, there is now a gap in my process, that can mean the difference as far as the successfull unlock is concerned...
I need something that is very literal, exact and cannot be misinterpreted any other way...I'm not very tech savy, but I'm not stupid either...
I just find the wording to be illogical and contradictory about the same way some of the IKEA furniture manuals, which we could probably all relate to...:)

I purchased my factory unlocked iPhone 3GS in Saudi Arabia. I'm currently visiting the US and would like to upgrade to iOS 4 when it becomes available on June 21st. Will I be able to upgrade my phone while I am here?

Any iPhone bought in the US is carrier locked to AT&T. Under no circumstances will AT&T unlock iPhones.
Also, keep in mind that the warranty for the iPhone is only valid in the country where it was sold.
In short, you will be wasting time and money if you buy an iPhone in the US. You certainly will not get it at the $199/$299 price without signing to a 2yr contract with AT&T (assuming you have credit and qualify).

The iPhone does not have an international warranty.
The warranty is only good in the country where it was originally sold. If you purchased it in the U.S. then you must take it back to the US to have it serviced.

I have Iphone4 Factory-unlock from Etisalat (Dubai-UAE) and when trying to upgrade my IOS to 4.3.3 it always gives me error -3259 (err=-3259), any help. (F.I: My current IOS4.3 and Itunes 10.2 are all orginal from Apple)

As mentioned, i bought this phone from Etisalat (Dubai-UAE based operator) and i never face a issue perviously on updating an IOS, this time after downloading IOS 4.3.3 I always get a error (it says Network issue) with Number Err= -3259 and never lets me update the IOS on my Iphone 4. My Iphone is completly original (Meaning, not jail breaked) and its using Itunes 10.2.2. The reason i want to update is becuase after updating the current installed IOS (4.3.2) the battery life is really bad and when i want to restore my Iphone4, it wants to download the updated IOS software (4.3.3) and when trying to update its gives me error all the time and does not let me update or install it.
Any help and update on how to fix this issue.

Do you have receipt that you bought your previous phone in Canada? If so, go back to apple store in Michigan, and perhaps they will replace it. Otherwise, you pro ably should have returned it to the store in Canada. You best bet is to call apple and see if they can come up with a solution.

IPhone 4 factory unlock wont restore. It's stuck in a continuous loop of the apple logo and spinning hash marks.

I just got the factory unlock from AT&T and connected my phone to iTunes as instructed. did the back up and then the factory restore. After I got the "Congratulations" message I followed the steps to restore my phone. (I have tried both registering it and regester later options). The phone is in a continous loop of the Apple logo and the circular hash marks. iTunes starts the restore process and gets to Step 5 (installing the apps, music, etc) and then the phone goes back to the Apple logo and disapears from iTunes.
I had all of the latest updates.
I tried the reset with the power button and the home button and it just does the same thing. The only way I got it to stop was to let the battery run down.
Please help, I am deployed and use my iPhone alot over here.

Try a DFU Mode Restore. Open iTunes on computer. Connect iPhone to computer. Hold both Home and Power buttons for exactly 10 seconds, release Power button, keep holding Home button until iTunes recognizes iPhone in Recovery Mode. This usually takes about 20 seconds of holding Home button. If the iPhone screen is completely black and iTunes says Recovery Mode, this is actually DFU Mode. This can sometimes be difficult to get, so keep trying to get DFU Mode (Recovery Mode with black screen). Then click the Restore button of iTunes.

Factory-unlocked iPhone 4 will not activate

I bought iPhone 4 (Factory-unlocked) from Australia and brought back to Japan.
I tried to activate the phone first time and it asks me to insert SIM.
So I inserted the trimmed SIM (Japanese). But the iTunes says "The SIM card inserted is not supported."
However, the trimmed SIM with proper adopter works fine with Japanese phone.
I tried this with many other SIM in Japan but failed to activate iPhone 4.
I also called up Apple in Australia and gave them the IMEI number to confirm the phone.
They confirmed that the phone is proper and factory-unlocked one from Apple.
I also bought the so-called "Activation SIM" and tried activation with this SIM.
This time, it let me sync with my iTunes successfully but cannot get any cellphone signal obviously.
Now, I can see menu and contents on the phone but it keeps shows "Waiting for activation".
So I changed the SIM to Japanese SIM but again, it does not activate nor sync to iTunes.
Could someone help?

Hi I am too living in Japan and bought an iPhone 4 back from Australia in September. I had activated it using a Jailbreak app, activation successful.
Now the problem, you are NOT able to use an iPhone in Japan that is not officially documented from Softbank. This means that Softbank has every IMEI number of each iPhone to be used in their system. When roaming, in Japan let’s say with an AT&T iPhone from the USA, this will work, because the system recognizes that it is a foreign number in the system and then applies the roaming charges to your Home Counties account. I had to go and pay an RF test registration fee to have my iPhone IMEI number placed on a list that Softbank accesses when registering, without the registration fee from the RF test certification company, the number is NOT added to the list… Softbank will then tell you it is NOT allowed to be used in Japan. This cost me more then paying 6 months of subscription and services if I had just opened a new account and contract with Softbank for a new Japanese iPhone 4.

hii there, i have bought iphone 5 it is factory unlocked from usa i purchased it second hand in india i am not able to software update my phone (currently ios6).. it is also jailbroken (cydia).. and also i am not able to reset my phone it just hangs for 40 odd minutes then i have to hard restart...
questions are :
1.if i update to ios7 through itunes will it cause some problems as it is jailbreak.(as said by everyone)
2.if i restore to factory settings will it get locked again (as i am not sure whether this phone is carrier unlocked or unlocked by my local retailer).
i am ready to remove jailbreak.
