Fail to install itunes 7.0.1

Please Help!
I've spent the last two days struggling with installing the latest version of itunes and miserably failed!
I've already removed the old version of itunes and quicktime. But when I downloaded quicktime 7.1.3, it said I've already got a more updated version 7.1.3.130. The itunes I downloaded simply closed when I tried to open it. It said the itunes has encountered a problem and needs to close. I found that the version is 7.0.1.8, NOT 7.0.1.
I have a BIG question in mind --- Is the site I downloaded my itunes and quicktime authentic? I went to apple.com and it took me to the following site :
http://appldnld.apple.com.edgesuite.net
Is this an authentic downloading site for downloading itunes and quicktime?
If it is, what should I do to fix my problems?
Could someone please help?
  Windows XP

Thanks for responding.
Yes, I'm outside the States, and I'm using Norton.
I'd just like to clarify one point -- I was taken to http://www.apple.com/itunes/download/
But the source of my downloaded files of itunes and quicktime has the following URL: http://appldnld.apple.com.edgesuite.net
So, could anybody let me know whether this is an authentic source?

  • Have people returned ipods after failing to install itunes?

I have exhausted all the information on here to try and install itunes after receiving errors 1305 & 1603. Just wanted to know if people have returned their ipods after failing to install itunes?
I think it is very poor that you are unable to contact apple and speak to someone if you are having these problems.
I am very disappointed by my first experience of owing an ipod.
    Louis

Error 1305 is usualy something to do with the CD drive or the media.
Are you trying to install from the CD?
You can download iTunes here -> http://www.apple.com/support/downloads/itunes605.html
Error 1603 is usually a disk space problem. See here -> http://consumer.installshield.com/kb.asp?id=Q111019

Also please don't point me to the Apple article about stopping and restarting the Apple Mobile Device Service as I have tried that and it hasn't worked.

For general advice see Troubleshooting issues with iTunes for Windows updates.
The steps in the second box are a guide to removing everything related to iTunes and then rebuilding it which is often a good starting point unless the symptoms indicate a more specific approach. Review the other boxes and the list of support documents further down the page in case one of them applies.
The further information area has direct links to the current and recent builds in case you have problems downloading, need to revert an older version or want to try the iTunes for Windows (64-bit - for older video cards) release as a workaround for performance issues.
Your library should be unaffected by these steps but there is backup and recovery advice elsewhere in the user tip.

  • Failed to install iTunes

    Hi,
When I install iTunes it succesfully installs that but when it gets to QuickTime i always get some sort of error at the end (I think the error message is always different each time), I've had Error Code -3, Error Code -1073741819, and about 3 other different ones. But after it says that error it says the installation was succesful then it says 'Could not allocate thread local data.'
I've tried a few things in other treads but they didn't work so I'm clueless.
    Thanks
    Ben
Edit: The window name of the error is 'MW Win32 Runtime' if you where wondering.

    hi RooZ!
'Error 1722.There is a problem with this Windows Installer package. A program run as part of the setup did not finsh as expected...'
a terrible thing to be happening to a fellow ANZAC ...
okay, when i see these strange 1700-range errors showing up, i start worrying about people's Windows Installers on their PCs.
head to Windows Update to make sure you're fully up-to-date in that regard. (we're trying in particular to ensure that you have a working copy of Windows Installer 3.1v2 on the PC.)
to try to cover the other bases, then let's try the general advice on this document:

  • Failing to Install iTunes on Windows - getting a msi message

I keep getting the same message over & over again each time I try to INSTALL the updated iTunes. It will not allow me to sync my iPhone until this happens.
While it is uploading I get a message that says:
"The feature you are trying to use is on a network resource that is unavailable.
Click OK to try again, or enter an alternate path to a folder containing the installation package 'iTunes.msi' in the box below."
So.. I go and find anything that says iTunes.msi which I've found three of on my computer.. THEN, after I select the source that it tells me to it then gives me another message that says:
"The file 'the file I select' is not a valid installation package for the product iTunes. Try to find the installation package 'iTunes.msi' in a folder from which you can install iTunes."
I've been going around in circles.
This is so aggravating. This has been happening forever.. and I'm not able to download any movies or video. What's going on?
Would someone please help me please?
I never get an answer on these 'Apple Discussion Posts'.. so can I please get a reply that will help?
    Thanks.

This kind of msi problem can usually be fixed with the Microsoft Installer Cleanup Utility.
Unfortunately the Microsoft Installer Cleanup utility has been withdrawn by Microsoft because of compatibility issues with Microsoft Office so you will need to find a copy elsewhere – the installer is msicuu2.exe. You need version 3.
    Google msicuu2.exe download
mydigitallife in the above search has a copy of version 3
Check for malware before installing it.
After installing, To run the program – All Programs>>Windows Install
If you get permission denied error, Try Run as Administrator – an option if you right click on the program.
Run the Clean Up utility and remove any instance you find of iTunes.
    Then try installing iTunes again.

Try a more recent version of my advice. The "for older video cards version" may work when the default version doesn't.

  • HT1923 I'm trying to re-install itunes on my laptop & I am getting a message that has stopped the re-install & it says: "Service 'Apple Mobile Device" (Apple Mobile Device) failed to start. Verify that you have sufficient privileges to start system servic

I'm trying to re-install itunes on my laptop & I am getting a message that has stopped the re-install & it says: "Service 'Apple Mobile Device" (Apple Mobile Device) failed to start. Verify that you have sufficient privileges to start system services."  The diaglogue box gives me the options to abort, retry, or ignore; when I tried retry and ignore the re-install process stays stalled & the dialogue box comes back & I don't want to abort & start this all over to probably end up with the same issue; what does this mean & what do I do?

Go to Control Panel > Add or Remove Programs (Win XP) or Programs and Features (later)
Remove all of these items in the following order:
    iTunes
    Apple Software Update
Apple Mobile Device Support (if this won't uninstall move on to the next item)
    Bonjour
    Apple Application Support
Reboot, download iTunes, then reinstall, either using an account with administrative rights, or right-clicking the downloaded installer and selecting Run as Administrator.
The uninstall and reinstall process will preserve your iTunes library and settings, but ideally you would back up the library and your other important personal documents and data on a regular basis. See this user tip for a suggested technique.
    Please note:
Some users may need to follow all the steps in whichever of the following support documents applies to their system. These include some additional manual file and folder deletions not mentioned above.

  • Why do I keep having an app that fails to install, after syncing with iTunes on my computer?

One or two months ago, I purchased EA's game 'Need for Speed Most Wanted', when it was on special for $1.29 NZ. I downloaded the app onto my iPod touch (4th generation 8GB), and later synced the app with my computer. A few weeks later I deleted this app from my iPod to free up some space (this is around a 1.8GB app by the way). In the past few days I have tried syncing this app from the computer to my iPod. Every time I sync, the app loads fine, and starts installing for a few minutes, but then comes up with a message saying: 'Most Wanted' failed to install. If I try syncing the app several more times, I then get a message saying: 'Unable to Download Item. The operation couldn't be completed (SSMobileInstallationErrorDomain error -402620393.)'. I am using a Windows 7 laptop with the latest version of iTunes. My iPod is running iOS 6.1.3. I have two apple id's, the first being signed in on my laptop, and the second being signed in on my iPod. The id's are both authorised with the laptop, and my iPod is associated with both id's as a device. I don't think this would have contributed to the problem though. This has become very frustrating! Can anyone please help?

How much free storag do y have on the iPod? I would try freeing up more and try syncing again.
If your country allows redownloading app, then delete the app from the computer and redownload and sync
Downloading past purchases from the App Store, iBookstore, and iTunes Store
Try redownloading directly to the iPod. Note you wil need about 5.4 GB free on the iPod.
    See:
iOS: Troubleshooting applications purchased from the App Store
Contact the developer/go to their support site if only one app.
    Restore from backup. See:

    Hello, Edward.
Thank you for visiting Apple Support Communities.
I think the best option would be to completely uninstall all components of iTunes in the order specified of the article below.  Once this is done attempt to install iTunes again.

  • HT1923 I have tried to remove and reinstall Itunes after they sent out the latest update.  Fails to install.  There is no way to go back to a previous version that works on windows 8.1

Apple's latest update to iTunes failed to install on my computer with Windows 8.1 64 bit.  I have reinstalled in many times, removed Itunes via Control Pannel, etc. etc.  No luck.  Tried to go back to an older version, but all of the installs try to install the latest version.  I suspect there is a problem with this update and vesion.
