Failed to connect to the applications engine.....

Hi, Using PS Elements 8.0 on a PC.  When trying to edit now keep getting message 'failed to connect to the applications engine'.  Any ideas how to fix this?  Really appreciate some help.
Thanks
Gordon

Hi Ashley,
You can use Network Monitor and run it on the remote DP at the time ConfigMgr is attempting to install the DP role to capture more information on what may be causing the issue.
Here is the download link to NetMon -
http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=4865
And here are some how to's on using NetMon just in case:

    From a discussion with the Unix DBA team we concluded that this
    tutorial is Windows NT specific.
    Does anyone happen to have a tutorial on deploying Oracle Forms
    to the Web specifically for Developer 6 Server and OAS4 under

    Which Unix Developer 6 Server environment variables do I have to
    set under Unix for deployment of forms 6.0 on the web?.

    "NoRouteToHostException" => This looks like routing issues through the proxy server.
    You can involve network admin to take care of the settings at proxy , to allow connections through the proxy server.

  • J2EE fails to connect to the ABAP backend system

    We have J2EE 640 Sp16 Abap+Java. As we configured this node in high-availability, we applied note Oss 757692 to the J2EE.
    Anyway the J2EE does not come up.
    Into the std_server0.out we see the following:
      Service dbpool started. (1503 ms).
    May 25, 2006 3:44:09 PM         com.sap.security.core.persistence [SAPEngine_System_Thread[impl:5]_25] Fatal: User Management Engine
    (com.sap.security.core.persistence.datasource.imp.R3Persistence) failed to connect to the ABAP backend system. Check that connectio
    n data are correct and the backend system is available. Error message: "User not authorized (session closed)". Connection data (
    obtained from properties of UME service in section "ume.r3.connection.master.": "{
      passwd=********
      receiverid=master
      sysnr=00
      client=100
      poolmaxsize=10
      user=SAPJSF
      receiverid_guest=master
      ashost=sap3
      snc_mode=0
    We double checked the set6tings of note 757692 and all of them seems to be correct.
    We changed also the psw of SAPJSF in the ABAP stack and also in Global server configuration by mean of the configtool for the ume.r3.connection.master.psswd item
    Neverthless we continue to recive this error.
    What's wrong ?
    Regards

    Could it be because you tried to do this in an AS Java + AS ABAP installation? The note 757692 says quite distinctly, "This note covers the procedure for the j2ee engine only!" The statement does not make it clear if this note refers to only a standalone AS Java.
    My saying so is not very helpful, but the note also goes on to say, "Should you wish to change the host name of a server in a test !!! !!! system, you should do so only with the assistance of an SAP!!! !!! consultant.!!!

  • SSRS: Failure sending mail: The transport failed to connect to the server.

    I run SSRS and email reports using SMTP service on a Windows Server 2008 R2 box. This has been working for months and stopped today around noon.
    I have checked all SMTP settings and verified they are correct. I can send an email from SQL Server Management Studio, using SMTP service with no trouble.
    Now in SSRS I am getting this message:
    Failure sending mail: The transport failed to connect to the server.
    I have read every link when I google this message or type it into bing.com; yet cannot find a reason why SSRS has suddenly stopped emailing my reports.
    I have restarted the server in question, I have changed account names, I have changed passwords, yet nothing is working.
    I even approached our senior dba about it and he has never seen this happen.
    Has anyone else experienced this issue?
    Thank you,
    Jessica

    Thank you JJordheim.
    IDS is not an issue. Neither is the Windows Firewall on the server. I actually turned it off while troubleshooting to make sure it was not causing the issue.
    SSRS and my SMTP Virtual service are on the same server. I am running the SMTP service through IIS. I even created a new SMTP Service to test with. No luck.

  • Failed to connect to the server, specify a valid server name and ID and pw

    I am trying to install business one on a clients application server, where their sql server software is installed on a different server. When I get to the point of the installation where it asks for connection information: sql type, sql server name, logon and password, it fails after entering the correct info. I have double checked this info, typed it repeatedly and correctly and I continue to receive the following error: Failed to connect to the server, specify a valid server name and ID and password and try again. Can anyone lead me in the right direction to determine what my issue is? I can connect to sql server with the sa logon, on the sql server and I can access/ping the sql server from the application server, I just can't connect to sql server through the installation. I checked the sql server settings that I know of, so I don't know if it is an issue there or if it is a port issue or what.
    Thanks for any help.

    Following is whjat the customers IT team reported they did to get the install running:
    RIGHT!  Worked it out!    It wasn't firewall in the end at all, it was that the SAP B1 installation isn't aware of SQL Server 2008 R2 (version 10.50.x.x).
    The vbscript was looking for the presence of SQL Server 2008 (version 10.0.x.x) in the registry and not by scanning ports or suchlike.
    If you use the autorun installation from this folder; E:\BusinessEvolution\Software\SAP_Extract_via_WINZIP it should work fine - I've modified the checksql.htm to look for SQL 2008 R2 and now autorun goes past that first problem.
    Not sure if that will be any help to you? In that instance I think we were installing 8.8 PL17...
    The upgrade frpm there to 8.81 PL07 worked fine

  • Keep getting error message "Failed to connect to the device"  when......

    Hi,
    I keep getting the following message:
    (this is an icon in this area of a camera sitting on pictures)
    Failed to connect to the device.
    -Check the I/F cable connection between the device and your computer
    -Please turn off the device once, and then turn ON the device again.
    Then try again.
    [MTW005] OK (this is highlighted like you can click on it, but nothing happens when you click on it)
    I don't have this device even plugged in because I haven't a need for it. Yet the message keep showing up. I thought I would out smart the error message and plugged in the device (ScanDisk 4 in 1 (media card) reader. But I was the one out smarted. Nothing changed. I still have the error message, even after restarting the computer or shutting down and turning back on. All I can do with the message is slide it the edges of my screen display so it isn't in the way. Help, how do I get rid of this problem. This has happened before and then one day the error message disappears for awhile to only come back yesterday to drive me nuts (short drive by the way).

    Hello,
    Try going to Macintosh HD > Applications > Image Capture > Image Capture menu > Preferences... > General tab > "When a camera is connected, open: " set it to 'iPhoto' or 'No Application'.

  • Applicaton Catalog - "Cannot connect to the application server" - Existing solutions have not worked

    Hi there,
    I have researched the problem below extensively online and found quite a varies array of solutions offered however they all seem to relate to the problem in that someone was setting up SCCM but couldn't get it to work. My situation is different in that the
    feature was working, no settings were changed however it has now stopped working.
    The issue is that if any user attempts to use the app catalog, they are shown the error screen which says "Cannot connect to the application server". It then says the problem might be temporary, try again later etc however it's not temporary.
    All the settings for the app catalog appear to be correct, as I would expect them to be as it was working (I am new to this company, the Desktop manager has told me it was working a few weeks ago).
    Does anyone know of a service in Windows, maybe something to do with the SQL side or certificates that could cause this issue? (although I checked certificates and again, looks fine). I'm almost at the point now of just restarting the server because
    if all else fails, turn it off and on again right?
    Cheers all.

    Hi, I just typed a long reply to this and then accidentally clicked a favourite on the Favourites bar and lost everything I typed :(
    -Checked the path in IIS to the \SMS_CCM\CMApplicationCatalog folder was OK and it was.
    -Checked that required .NET components including WCF are installed.
    -This one seemed a bit strange but ensured local service account has access to C:\Windows\Temp (this seemed very basic and unlikely but I tried it anyway due to desperation).
    -Checked that self-signed certificate was trusted by my PC attempting to access the App Catalog.
    -Checked SCCM services on the server are all running (where they should be, or set to manual as appropriate).
    I'm sure I've tried more than this, but these are the main things I can remember.
    Cheers.

  • My iphone 5 won't make a call when i fail to connect to the internet via 3g

    My iphone 5 won't call when i fail to connect to the internet via 3g.
    At work i dont have wifi i have 3g, if i launch say the sky go app,or the iplayer, sometimes they work and everything is fine...sometimes they wont load as 3g for whatever reason cant get a connection at that particular time........ if i then try and make a call the call will fail. I've experimented 25 + times and this is definately the cause.
    (note: when the 3g connection does work, the phone has absolutely no problem calling people)
    Anyone had this problem?
    Even better has anyone got a solution?
    Thanks,
    Nick.

    Are you sure that the carrier's signal is strong where you are having this problem? Certain building structures and locations have poor cellular signal strength and this often results in the "No Service" indication. Are other users able to get service in the same locations where you have problems?

    I get the following error message everytime I try to add a node to an existing cluster "Failed to connect to the service manager".
    I'm running Windows Server 2008 R2,
    Any ideas?

    Hi saeedawadx,
    Please run the cluster validation and post the error or warning information, in normal scenario the “Failed to connect to the service manager” issue often caused by the firewall
    or AV soft block the others node connect, please try to disable the firewall and AV soft then try again.

  • Distribution manager failed to connect to the distribution point

    After upgrading my distribution point to windows server 2012 standard I can't distribute content to my distribution point.
    I see the following error.
    source: SMS Server
    Component: SMS_DISTRIBUTION_MANAGER
    message id 2391
    Distribution Manager failed to connect to the distribution point Check your network and firewall settings.
    The firewall is not enabled.
    wbemtest is able to connect to the remote server that has the distribution point role installed.
    The network access account is working.
    How do I fix this?

    but why does it most of the time work? I did inplace upgrade at least 6 times from 2008 R2 to 2012 R2 and every DP except one works fine.
    I'm not completely sure, but I think, my faulty one, that I'm trying to get working, was working correctly after the inplace upgrade. But as I said, that is only a theory, I'm just curious if that's possible.
    I have the same issue as described above.

    Addon_Name addon has failed to connect to the DI API.
    Error Details:
    Service not found.
    DI API was uninstalled and re installed.
    And I deleted SM_OBS_DLL directory.
    But I can not resolve this issue.
    Please help me,
    Joanne

    Hi Joanne,
    I had exactly the same problem with patch 15 after an upgrade from 8.8 patch 13. The SBO client didn't automatically update so I had to use Add/Remove programs to remove the old client and DI API and then the new client install failed from the B1_SHR folder with a 1158 error (no description).
    What I did to correct it was install the DI API from the <servername>\B1_SHR\B1DIAPI folder and then run the client install afterwards. This time the client install worked fine and I can run addons that use the DI API. I think there was some registry entry issues, maybe with the upgrader or the client installer.
    Kind Regards,
    Owen
