Failure to auto rotation

My new iPad 2 fails to rotate according to my holding orientation. I have checked the lock on the bottom multitasking bar and is showed unlocked. Is there any other place to cause this feature inoperative or mine is defective?

It's possible that your Side Switch is controlling the rotation and is set to lock. Go into Settings -> General and check under "Use Side Switch to:". If "Lock Rotation" is checked, then you're using the Side Switch to control rotation.

  • N86 theme effects cause auto rotate to lag

When theme effects are enabled on the n86, when I try to use the auto rotate feature it hangs for 5 seconds, with part of the screen covered strangley.
I heard it was fixed or at least improved at some firmware version.
I am currently using the v20.
It seems my phone operator allows to update to at most v21.
But I'm kinda reluctent to update in fear of losing the opearator installed software and settings and stuff I changed to, especielly in case something goes wrong and I have to hard reset.
The questions is, was it really fixed or improved in v21, and how safe those updates are? (Chances of failure or issues?)

You normally get improvements with software update, and it is advisable to hard reset and not to backup settings as they can cause conflict with new software (just back up contacts and calendar) but it's up to you, you should be able to get apps etc back afterwards, and theme effects will always slow down phone as they use about 3 meg of the phone memory !
If it was me I'd install the latest software I could lay my hands on, but it's not !!
    Good Luck

  • Yoga 2 Pro Auto-Rotate Disabled (button is gray) on Win 10

Hi all, Upgraded my Yoga 2 Pro to Win 10 today, and the auto-rotate feature stopped working. The enable auto-rotate button on Win 10 is disabled, and in the display settings, the auto-rotate is switched on, but this doesn't make a difference. Don't know if the problem is with Lenovo or Microsoft, but would appreciate any help I can get...

Folks - any of you restored back to windows 8 to see if it still works? I did after my win 10 upgrade (with no rotation) and to my dismay, rotation no longer works in the factory image. I spoke to Lenovo and they are treating it like a hardware failure (apparently the factory reimage is the smoking gun for them). I'm starting to wonder if the Win 10 upgrade could have hosed the sensor!? FWIW - I have installed windows 10 about 5 times now on my Yoga 2 Pro, and in every case, the rotation lock function appears as a option (after the graphics drivers are updated by windows update) and pressing the button causes the on screen display to indicate that the autorotate is being toggled.

  • Yoga 2 Pro tent mode and auto-rotate not working

I have had a Yoga 2 Pro since June. Recently the Tent mode and auto-rotate features do not work.
When I put the Yoga 2 Pro into Tent mode the keyboard and touch pad are still active underneth. However, they shutoff when in tablet mode. Lenovo Transition starts automatically and is running.
Auto-rotate does not work at all now. The screen is un-locked.

    Dear NX3
    Welcome to Lenovo forums
Please try to uninstal the Lenovo transition program and download the version in the below link and instal it

  • Yoga 8 and 10 Tablets - KitKat 4.4.2 - Auto-Rotation

After upgrading to KitKat 4.4.2, some customers report auto-rotation does not always occur while changing modes on their Yoga 10 tablet (B8000-F/H). Reports include the Lenovo Launcher home page, Facebook, and SolMail. Hard resets do not resolve the issue.
Please note that Lenovo has escalated internally on this issue. I was able to reproduce these reports on a KitKat 4.4.2 V24 build. I noticed slow auto-rotate and I quickly developed a habit of automatically "shaking" the device one time when changing the mode to force the auto-rotation.
These reports originated from this thread: http://forums.lenovo.com/t5/Idea-Android-based-Tablets/KitKat-roll-out-for-Yoga-Tablets-starting-Jun...
Note: This has only been reported by Yoga 10 Tablet users. If this is occuring on your Yoga 8 Tablet, please let me know so I can escalate it for the Yoga 8.

When in the print module with "Auto-Rotate to fit" selected, A landscape images correctly rotates to fit the page, but the text that is selected in the "Photo Info" setting does not rotate. Thus, the text appears along the left side of the image .
Any suggestions to get it to appear correctly on the bottom?
Also, Font size is selectable but not font type.

  • Our HP laserjet , model P2050 , does not print on both sides even though the " auto rotate " box is

checked.  Is there someway to cause the printer to print on both sides?  ( There is another printer box that  comes up in other  instances and it has a "Preferance" box which , when clicked on, gives a different way to choose  two-sided printing, and that one works to cause the printer to do as wanted.)
The  box that shows " auto rotate' doesn't have a print preview.

  • Auto rotation is not working properly with iOS 7.1.2 upgrade

I recently upgraded my iPad to iOS 7.1.2 and noticed that auto rotation isn't functioning properly. How will this problem fix, will I have to wait till the next update ??
It takes too much time, or doesn't happen at all.
I have an iPad mini with retina display, 128GB storage.
    Thanking you in anticipation .

Try a reset and see if it fixes the problem. You will not lose any data.
Reset the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider if it appears on the screen - let go of the buttons. Let the iPad start up.

  • Auto-rotate is not working in my Nokia X6. Please ...

Hi. So I recently bought a Nokia X6, and everything seemed to work fine. However, just today the auto-rotate stopped working on my phone. I turned the sensors off and then turned them on again and it stopped working. What could be the reason?
Also, now when I turn my phone on, it just turns off again, and I need to turn it on again.
P.S: I don't know if this has an effect, but I was installing an app on my phone, when the battery went empty, and the phone turned off in the middle of the installation...
EDIT: Also, my phone gave me a "System error" message twice...

It's ok, I did a hard reset and everything is working fine now. I guess the problem was with the app that I installed. By the way, that app wasn't compatible with the phone, as the phone gave me a message that it isn't, and yet I insisted on installing it. So perhaps here lies the problem.

  • [FIX] Yoga 13 auto-rotates to portrait on startup after Win 8.1 upgrade

This was going to be a question post but I just stumbled across the answer on my own, so here's the solution instead!
After upgrading the Yoga 13 to Windows 8.1 through the Windows Store app, and even after installing all the new drivers, I found that every time I restarted when the lock screen came up it would suddenly rotate 90 degrees left to portrait mode. It would fix itself if I rotated the laptop or hit the hardware button to turn auto-rotate off and on again, but still kinda annoying.
    So here's the fix:
-Seach for "local services" and open it up
-Scroll down to "Sensor Monitoring Service"
     and double-click
-Mine had its startup type set to manual, change this to automatic
    -Restart the computer
    Note:
My Yoga was running a clean install of Windows 8 when I upgraded to 8.1, so I'm not sure if this applies to a Yoga with the factory install intact (or if it even gets this problem with the factory install, since I don't see any other posts about people having this problem).
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

With a factory configuration the serivce is set to Manual, Trigger Start, and this config seems to work well...

  • 8.1 | 11s | Auto-rotate only works for landscape & button does nothing

The way auto-rotate is sort of doing it's own thing right now. The way it works is if  the screen is upside down (winbutton up) -> tablet mode, rightside up -> laptop mode. Those are the only two switches that it makes, and it doesn't rotate to a portrait mode, which I would really like.
The auto-rotate button doesn't seem to do anything anymore. The dialog will appear on-screen but it rotates the same wether it's on or off.
I can make the switch with ctrl+alt+<,> but that doesn't disable the keyboard, and it flips back to landscape when I move it.
Is there some list of upgrade issues?
Other issues I have/had are: cpu throtling in tablet mode, dolby stopped working though audio works fine with new driver. Also the upgrade messed up my DNS settings. Updating the wifi driver & forgetting the network driver didn't solve it. I had to go to the conection's settings and set the DNS manually on IPV4 and disable IPV6.

Check for newer drivers and install if any, then post if you still have the issue.

  • N95 & Auto-Rotate Function in V21.0.016

    Wife & I both have new N95's RM-159 from 3.
Firmware Version is V21.0.016 as mentioned in subject line.
What neither phone seems to have is the auto-rotate function. After hours of searcing I've been unbale to find out why with this version of the firmware this isn't supported on these phones. Under Display settings no mention of auto-rotate. I've checked software updater & am told the FW is the latest revision.
Do I need to install the accelerometer plugin to get this function to work as you have to do with rotateMe(c)Samir?
Any help would be appreciated before I ring 3 customer services and ask them why it isn't supported.
    TIA.

    Your phones are normal.
The N95 doesn't have that function as part of it's firmware. Only the N95 8GB has had this feature added in the v20 firmware.
The firmware on the N95 is not the same as the firmware on the N95 8GB.
It is rumoured that the feature will be in the next firmware release for the N95 which is due in the next few months.
So the only way to get auto rotate on the old N95 is to install a program like rotateme.

  • Has anyone experienced the mute switch / auto-rotate switch iOS bug on their ipad?

Has anyone experienced the mute switch / auto-rotate switch iOS bug on their ipad?
I have experienced this on iPad 1 as well as iPad 2.
Basically, when you set the side switch to toggle screen orientation (or mute), after a period of use I will have either my sound cease to function or the ipad screen will not orient correctly.  This depends on what i have chosen the side switch to toggle.  I am not sure what causes it.  The time it takes for the problem to appear is inconsistent. Some say it is caused by third party applications.
One can find numerous threads on here if you search for "sound on my ipad stopped working" or "orientation not working".  It appears to be the same problem. Fudging with the toggle switch settings can fix it (but it takes a weird order to get it out of its non functioning loop).
Here is a thread that addresses the sound issue:  https://discussions.apple.com/message/15263298#15263298

Its only for notifications.. it is not for sound from videos or music!

  • After ios 7 update on ipad mini, auto rotation stop working. Anyone facing this issue too?

After ios 7 update on ipad mini, auto rotation stop working. Anyone facing this issue too?

    for ipad,
    if you go to settings-General
You can select between using the side switch to lock rotation or mute.  If you select one mute, then the lock rotation icon will show up in the control center.  If you select lock rotation, then the mute will show up.  THe side switch is then used for the other option.

  • Disable Auto-Rotation in OCR Process (Acrobat 9 Pro)

Is there a way to disable the auto-rotation step as part of the OCR process? I have documents which I assemble in from images of tables. (If I had acces to the text of the tables, I wouldn't be using images of them). I place each screenshot in the correct orientation, but when I have Acrobat 9 Pro OCR the document, it auto-rotates many pages into the wrong orientation (some 90° clockwise; others 90° counterclockwise and some 180°). Since Acrobat is horribly confused by what it is seeing, I need to disable the auto-rotation part of the process so that it will OCR what it finds exactly as it finds it.

Very likely the pages of interest have a least one character of renderable text. This might not be readily seen by you or me but it'd be there.
Acrobat's OCR will not process a page that has any renderable text.
    Be well...
