Failure to sync movies/home videos.

Hi,
We live in the country and 'enjoy' dreadful broadband speeds (Less than 1Mbps) so downloading films from the iTunes store is impossible. To have films on our iPads for travelling I have therefore converted DVD's to MP4 format and copied them by drag & drop into iTunes. Previously these have sync-ed happily to our iPads without trouble, appearing as 'home videos' . This time however, they are totally ignored by sync-ing which is otherwise normal, moving iBooks etc without problems.   There is plenty of room on our iPad 4 and iPad air. (7.1.1)
The films are 'ticked' to sync.
There have been updates to both iTunes and our iPads since I last added films.
Has anyone any idea what the problem is?  Cheers!

I have exactly the same issue but with Windows Vista and an iPhone 4 (V4.3.5 (8L1) - it seems to syns but crashes when optimising photos - I have uninstalled EVERYTHING Apple and re-installd but to my dismay, the problem is still there...

Why does Itunes encounter a problem every time I try to sync my home videos - it just won't sync them - help please !!!!

Re-installing iTunes wont erase your folders, unless your iTunes is a very old version pre-iTunes 9 series.
I would suggest to download the latest iTunes, it would solve your problem as in this earlier  post

  • Can I move home videos from my computer to a new ipad ?

How do i move home movies from my iphone/ computer to a new Ipad ???

Basically, import those videos into iTUnes. Then connect your iPad to your computer, open iTunes, click on the name of your device, navigate to the video tab. You should see those movies. Choose the ones to sync, do a sync and they should go onto your device.

  • Transefering movies home videos

how can i transfer home videos from my computer (XP) to my ipod??? i tunes say they can't be played to this ipod how do i convert them??? thanks

how can i transfer home videos from my computer (XP) to my ipod?
The long and short of it is "by converting them to an iPod compatible format." Any media or file format that you convert to the MPEG4/AAC LC or H.264/AAC LC format within specific limitations can be added to your iTunes library and then be sync'd to your 5G iPod.
i tunes say they can't be played to this ipod how do i convert them?
The specifics will depend on the source of your data, the format it is in, the software you already have, and your willingness to invest in additional applications you might require. Free applications are available on the internet but most are relatively new, may be subject to problems (synchronization, missing sound, etc.) when converting certain formats, be less than totally accurate in their ability to produce an iPod compatible file, and usually require conversion in multiple manual steps. Commercial programs are generally "tighter" (more accurate in producing iPod compatible files on the first try), support more sources/formats, and often perform the entire conversion in a single seamless process. Your best bet is to research this forum/the internet in general and then download selected free and/or trial software in order to determine which workflow is best for you as an individual.

  • Move home videos to movies?

    Hi,
I am transferring my DVD collection to digital by ripping them on to my computer. Then dragging them into iTunes. The only problem is, they aren't mixing with the movies I have previously purchased from iTunes. But instead going into the "home videos" section. Is there any way to fix this?
    Thanks

Select the shows in your TV Shows library.  You can select several adjacent shows at once by holding the shift key.  If they are not adjacent, hold the command key and click on each.  Open the Multiple Item Info window (File menu > Get Info or type commamd + I).  Select the "Options" tab.  Check media kind and use the adjacent menu to select Movie.  Cloick "OK" to save your changes.  The shows should automatically move to the Movies library.

  • Cannot sync movies or videos that are in iTunes

I used Handbrake to convert some DVDs for iTunes. I try to sync them to the iPad and get an error saying the iPad cannot play it so it's not copied. I then go into iTunes, select the Movie and pull down the Advanced Menu option for "Create iPad or Apple TV version." I get an error saying, the video is already in the correct format. Any ideas? I hope I don't have to rip the DVD again from scratch.

  • How do I move home videos from my computer to itunes?

When I load photos & videos from my iphone, the pics and videos are saved to my computer.  When I use Apple TV, I can see the photos, but not the videos.  Do I need to "move" them into itunes?

    Here's a good tutorial:

  • Can I wirelessly sync a home video to my Mac from my iPhone?

iCloud photo stream does not sync videos back and neither does wifi sync. Do I still have to tether to copy off videos I've recorded?

Same here. It's almost like Apple just never thought about syncing videos! There's not mention of it I can see on the website, even to say "sync videos the way you always have via iTunes and a cable." Very un-Apple like.

  • Can't sync movies and video podcasts wont play

I just got a 6th gen nano today and the movies will not show up on the nano. Also when I play any video podcast the video keeps freezing but the sound keeps going. Has anyone else experienced this issue? If so, how do I fix it?

It also lacks Games and Photos.
I have an iPod Touch now, but i also enjoy my iPod Nano 4G. The difference between them is the weight and the way commands are given: analog but wasy to use (even with eyes closed or one hand and on the moove), versatile options and small versus touch commands, huge screen, but big, in need of great care while handling and of both hands to command.
This is not a decision to differenciate the iPod Nano 6G from iPod Touch, iPod Classic and iPhone, but it's actually not a Nano. It's iPod Shuffle with touch commands - nothing more, but a lot worse than any iPod Shuffle or previous iPod Nano.

  • ITunes 11: "Movies" vs. "Home Videos"

So when in the "Movies" section of iTunes, there are views including Unwatched, Genres, Movies, Home Videos, and List. I want to move some video content from "Home Videos" to "Movies". How do I do this?

Note that in iTunes 11, it's probably an oversight that you can't target "home videos" in smart playlists.
If you edit a smart playlist and try to target Media Kind is/isn't <type>, the offered types are TV shows, movies, etc. but not home videos. Therefore you can't build smart playlists that specifically target (or don't target) home videos.
Yet. Hopefully they'll fix it in 11.0.1.

  • Home Video Option Missing in Ipad Mini

    Hi,
So I've had my ipad mini for almost 2 years and it has worked brilliantly until lately.
I've been uploading videos via itunes to my ipad and it shows up under Videos -> Home Videos.
So, most of the time I can just add new videos in and have no issues but lately I keep having this issue.
I will drag some videos from itunes into ipad but when i pop into my ipad section, it shows that the videos are not sync'ed in.
Then i will click sync and the next thing i know is, the memory bar at the bottom would indicate  e.g. from initially 9GB of free space to 20GB of free space.
When I go to my physical ipad to access the videos, the "Home Video" option isn't even there. But the videos on itunes, on the ipad section still indicates they are there.
    I've tried sync'ing again.
I've tried deleting all the videos and drag them back in and sync'ing but it doesn't work. The "Home Video" just doesn't come back.
My only solution so far has been to restore Ipad. Which literally erases all my data and sets it back to a completely new Ipad.
Depending on time and date of my backup sometimes restoring to backup date may or may not work.
Any idea what's the problem and how i can resolve this?
Help is very, very much appreciated.
    Thank you.

    Hi Alfred, very curious update.
As I have said I have some home movies stored under Movies >Home Videos and yesterday I was talking with my duaghter-in-law about whether it would be possible to share this with her Ipad but couldn't come up with anyway to do that. I looked at Dropbox and Instashare but they don't, as far as I can see, allow me to access my home videos, they only seem to work with camera roll and purchased movies.
Anyway, this morning I was messing about with the Ipad Movies>Home Videos page nd by chance I touched the heading where my original 4 videos are displayed and suddenly the USA video appeared (nearly fell off my chair) and it worked OK. The date is shown as 23rd March 2014.
Back stepped and tried it a couple of times and it was OK. It would seem that the Ipad has stored the original 4 videos on one page and the USA one on another. The original 4 don't show any video content i.e the opening screen just a grayed box with a move film icon and the title whereas the USA video on the second page shows the opening screen shot.
It isn't possible to drag from one page to another I have to click the Home Videos title at the top of the page to move from one set to another.
It's great news I have my video after all but any clues as to what's happening? I would have thought it would fill the first page before going to a second. Is the clue perhaps in the way one set don't have the opening screen and the USA one does?
Also, any suggestions as to how I can share these with my daughter-in-law?

  • Home Video Not Installing on Ipad Mini Retina

I have converted a home video using DVD Catalyst Free.
I have copied the file into Itunes and it plays OK. I then manually copied the file to my Ipad mini. Although the DVD Catalyst web site says to left click the file and my device should show on the right in my case the device shows on the left underneath my laptop Itunes library.
When I look at the Ipad Films library on my laptop it shows 5 items installed including the one in question. When I left click the file it plays OK on the laptop.
However the file doesn't show on the Ipad i.e I have 4 not 5 files available.
I "transferred" the file to the Ipad by dragging it across from Itunes Film library (where it show complete with the opening screen shot) to the Device.
I have asked this question on the Ipad Forums.Net site (to whom I am grateful) and been told that there doesn't seem anything wrong with the file and I probably need to reset the Ipad, which is something I am not comfortable with as it is my wife's Ipad and she would literally kill me if I messed it up.
This is an image of the file properties.
I was just wondering whether someone here might have an alternative solution to the problem or can explain why it;s happening as my other home videos have all installed correctly.
    Many thanks

  • Home video not appearing in Videos/Movies after syncing with first generation iPad.

Why is my home video in Shared Libraries but not Movies after syncing with first generation iPad?  It appears in Movies on iPad2 and iPad3.  I've already changed Media Kind to "Movie."  I didn't have this problem 1 month ago when syncing a new video.  Is there a software update issue?  iPad says software is up-to-date.

The video app has 4 tabs across the top.  If they are not hiding  in one of the  tabs, i suspect they are missing the type identifier and the app doesnt know where to show them.  Glas that at least you can find them.
Next time you sync, take a look in i tunes, and see if they are fully labeled there.  I would not be surprised if one the i tunes fields is the key for the pad video app to know which tab to put the, under.
