Per ESP SP 5 release , below OS are supported which should be compatible with API:
 Red Hat Enterprise Linux Release 5.8, 32-bit (and all 5.x minor versions below)
 Red Hat Enterprise Linux Release 5.8, 64-bit (and all 5.x minor versions below)
 Red Hat Enterprise Linux Release 6.3, 32-bit (and all 6.x minor versions below)
 Red Hat Enterprise Linux Release 6.3, 64-bit (and all 6.x minor versions below)
 SuSE Linux Enterprise Server 11, 64-bit
The latest JDK i have seen working on a customer install is jdk1.6.0_45.
Probably you can try update 81 and see if you run into any issues.

Query Publisher items using the PRC Search API

Does anyone know if it is possible to query Publisher items from the PRC API? In my tests, even if I leave the filters blank and do a generic search for '*' I don't get Publisher items back. (Doing the same generic search from the portal does return Publisher items.) I'm afraid I might have to use the server search api, which I would rather not do. Anybody have experience with this one way or the other?

i had the facebook app but i could never upgrade it and i was ok with using the outdated version but when i reset the ipod so i could gift it to a friend it obviously got rid of the app and now i cant downloaded because it says its not compatable, how can i download the version i had before i reset it?

Your only way is if you have the version that was compatible on your computer such as in the recycle bin/trash or in a computer file backup. In that case delete the current version that is in your iTunes App library and replace it with the older version. Then sync.

Is the old HP-IB on a ribbon cable compatable with the now standard GPIB?

I have found a HP61001A and associated 61016, 61014 etc test equipment. It uses a ribbon cable to interface. Would anyone know if this is compatable with the now standard GPIB? Could it be used with some form of "connection converter"? Many thanks for any help.

I recommend that you call HP to determine if the instrument is 488.1 compliant. If it is, then you can use GPIB boards (even 488.2 boards), but you must use 488.1 commands (such as ibwrt and ibrd). If the instrument is not 488.1 compliant, then you cannot use it with GPIB.

I phone 4 ..in settings the line with carrier (including the little blue box with the telephone symbol) has disappeared so when i insert a sim card the iphone searches for a network but comes up with no service ! has anybody got any ideas ?

Omax digital microscope works great with Macs. What you have to do is ignore the cd that comes with it that contains Windows software and connect the scope to your computer. Boot up the Phone Booth app and it will display what is viewed in the scope.

When the next iPad comes out, (the iPad 4), will the iPad 2 be discontinued and not be compatable with future iOS versions?

I will not be buying a new iPad just because it was just discontinued.

<Opinion>Look at the iPod Touch family as a guide, that's probably the best model to look to for how this will probably go down. Probably 2 or 3 generations back will be okay if a new generation comes out, so following that logic the iPad 1 would likely stop receiving major iOS updates. But hey, nobody but Apple knows. I would suggest not worrying about it and getting what you can afford, they all become obsolete eventually.</Opinion>

How to make the knowledgebase search work?

This is not a FF problem; it is a problem with making the database search work properly. Example: trying to find the question "How do I install Addons for all users?" <http://support.mozilla.com/en-US/questions/745665>, I searched on "all users" with various combinations of "Add-ons" or "Addons" - coming up with many irrelevant hits (apparently not even corresponding to the search terms), but never with the page wanted. In fact, searching on the '''exact''' wording of the question "How do I install Addons for all users?" - with or without quotation marks - does not return the right page!! How is the search supposed to work?

Ed, thanks for your reply, but in fact it is a reply to a different question - in fact, the question which, as I said, I was ''originally'' searching ("How do I install Addons for all users?"). That leaves two things to do:

If you don't want to do that, may I do so? [It would be better if you do it, as you clearly know a lot more about the issue (and might be able to answer follow-up questions, of which I have at least one already).]
2) We still need an answer to either:

Missing large number of results through Bing Search API (web results only)

When making multiple calls to the Bing Web Search API (with a different $skip parameter), many queries I try seem to be missing many of the result I'd expect.
For example, searching for the string 'obama' on bing.com shows 107,000,000 results available.
When I search using the web search API using:
https://api.datamarket.azure.com/Bing/SearchWeb/v1/Web?Query=%27obama%27&%24format=json
I get 50 results, and the '__next' parameter is given as 'https://api.datamarket.azure.com/Data.ashx/Bing/SearchWeb/v1/Web?Query='obama'&$skip=50'
If I repeat this several times, eventually I get a response with less than 50 results, and no '__next' parameter, indicating there are no more results.
However, I always get far fewer than 1000 results (I'd expect there to be at least 1000). Trying to get 1000 results (by making a request and querying against the '__next' URL), I get different numbers of results each time:
attempt 1: 355 results
attempt 2: 441 results
attempt 3: 358 results
attempt 4: 692 results
attempt 5: 692 results
attempt 6: 694 results
attempt 7: 659 results
Querying for this should always return at least 1000 results, since 'obama' has 107,000,000 results listed when searching from bing.com
Any idea what's going on here?

Sorry to respond to this old thread, but the problem persists. It exists in both the web UI and the API. The initial result page (on the web) or result object (in the API) report millions of search results, however after clicking through a number of result
pages (on the web) the total number is reduced to a few hundred. Similarly, in the API, setting the '$skip' parameter above this number does not return results. In the Obama case the first page shows 18.2 million results (http://www.bing.com/search?q=obama&go=Submit+Query&qs=bs&form=QBRE)
but from page 35 and over only 529 results are reported (e.g., http://www.bing.com/search?q=obama&qs=n&pq=obama&sc=8-3&sp=-1&sk=&ghc=1&cvid=92729d6076e24a37a9e6ee099da99a4a&first=527&FORM=PERE7). Therefore the above problem
does not seem to be related to the difference between the API and the web UI, but rather that Bing does not provide any results from a certain point (presumably because nobody is interested in them anyway). However, for data mining/web content analysis it
is desired to get all results, even uninteresting ones. Is this behaviour documented somewhere, or can it be influenced?

LDAP search API doesn't always return NamingException when timeout

I am from My Oracle Support (MOS) (http://support.oracle.com) team.
In MOS we connect to corporation OID (external) to search for user by email, and search for user's groups.
But sometimes, the OID search API simply return without any results, and doesn't throw any exception, but we know the user exist, or user has group memberships.
Here is the code snippet:
1. Create connection

In step #1, the timeout is set to 3s for both connection and read operations. but the problem is that in step #2 and #3,
the API sometimes throw NamingException to indicate there is timeout, such as
javax.naming.NamingException: LDAP response read timed out, timeout used:3000ms.; remaining name 'dc=oracle,dc=com'
Sometimes it doesn't, but we have confirmed the times with backend OID team and know that it took 8s.
So how to make the API throw exception reliably ?

in fact i found out, when i change the user as you describe above, i have the same problem. when then i log off again, and come back withe the just before logged in user, i get the correct result on the webdynpros. <b>So I have to log off twice to actually change</b> the corresponding result on the webdynpro - strange thing is, taht in fact on the Portal screen in the upper left corner each time, i swap users the correct username is displayed...
we are running ep 6 patch level 10...

I have just begun accessing the apple search API here: http://www.apple.com/itunes/affiliates/resources/documentation/itunes-store-web- service-search-api.html. When searching for a specific movie, I want to know if the movie is captioned. Does this API support this? I have been unable to find any information regarding subtitles/captioning for a movie.

I have 306 (iAS 1.0.2.0.0) I don't have this api, Where Can I found it. I can't install portal 308 becouse I have Linux Redhat 6.2 Kernel 2.2.14 (iAS 1.0.2.0.0 is not certified to this kernel)

How to view iOS requirement using Apple Search API

I'm currently using the Apple Search API to search AppStore content, and i want to view the iOS requirement for the seleceted apps that i have already searched, but i didn't see any field that show the iOS requirement for the apps, so how to view that?

I am surprised to say that I don't think this is possible. Which is strange because upon inspection of the JSON results there is a return key for EVERYTHING except target iOS version. I would imagine that this may be an oversight by apple. It does not make sense that I can search "supportedDevices", "isGameCenterEnabled", and "fileSizeBytes" but not minimum or target OS.
