Father Lost iPhone and Can't Remember Apple ID or Password. Any chance of finding his phone?

So my father was in the hospital over the weekend, and he came home yesterday but left his phone somewhere. I set up find my iPhone, but of course he doesn't remember his Apple ID or password. Part of what he is going through has effected his mental faculties so I should have expected this. Is there anyway to figure out where his phone is?

when you start using iCloud on any iOS device and enable find my iPhone, this prevents a new user from using it, and also prevents anyone from using the phone
as it is locked to previous owners account ,this is also the case if when a phone is lost or stolen.
the only way around this is to have the previous owner reset their apple id by going to @ applied.apple.com
if they are unable to do this, then the only other way around this is to have the previous owner get a copy of their original receipt and call apple support who can then lift this lock if they get a copy of the receipt

Once you wipe a lost device, it can no longer connect with icloud, hence it can't be tracked.

I cannot speak for either, but Apple does not get involved in tracing stolen phones. If "Find my iPhone" cannot be used, there is no other way of tracing the phone. Sorry.

If you forgot the passcode, you'll have to restore it to remove the passcode, as explained here: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1212. If it is running iOS 7 with Find My iPhone enabled, you'll have to force it into recovery mode in order to restore it, as explained here: http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1808 (or erase it using Find My iPhone on icloud.com).

The only thing that needs fixing is your memory. The passcode lock is working exactly as designed.
Remember your passcode and you'll be able to get in.

I have the same problem - it is maddening. I rely on this iPad for work so this is not just an annoyance! The above solutions of changing the appleid on the device or on the website do not work.
The old email address no longer exists - I haven't used it in a year probably and I no longer have the account. I logged into the appleid website and there is no trace of the old email address so there is nothing that can be deleted or changed there. On the iPad there is no trace of the old email address so nothing can be deleted there either. I have updated the iPad software and the same problem comes right back. Every 2 seconds I am asked to log in using the old non-existent email. The device is currently useless.
The only recent change to anything was the addition of an Apple TV device, which was set up using the correct login and password.
Does anyone have any ideas? The iPad has been backed up to the iCloud so presumably it now won't recognize the current iCloud account? So restoring may notbe an option?
