FCE output quality is less than average :-(

I really hope someone can help, I'm under a crunch to complete some software tutorials and all my trials result is average to POOR quality.
*Here's the scoop* (I am testing this with only a 24sec. video):
*Using ScreenFlow >>* I am capturing my screen to create the tutorials. I am outputting them as: Web-High (best quality) H.264 multi-pass video encoding at 850 kbits/sec., AAC stereo at 96 kbits/sec., scale 100% or 1440x900 +(realizing the higher quality out the better so I can convert/compress down to flv 720X format/size and still end up with some quality)+. I've also kept the size the same throughout the process below, to no avail +(again rather go "down" to 720X so I don't lose quality, this is the desired final size for our software demo videos)+.
In Quicktime it looks absolutely awesome, clear, and the sound is perfect. I could stop here and convert these to flash for our site but I need to add intro/outros to "dress them up" and describe each tutorial. NOW...
*In Final Cut Express >>* I import the xxx.mov file in along with audio, etc. When finished with intro/outro/transitions I: 1) set mark in/mark out, then, sequence > render all(all checked). 2) File > Export > Using QuickTime Conversion > and used Default, Broadband-High and Broadband-Medium,
and I've tried every setting in "QuickTime Movie" format as well as "Flash Video FLV" and NOTHING looks worth a darn.
If anyone has any suggestions, or is local in Scottsdale, AZ and wants to work for an hour Fri or Sat (yes paid, LOL), i could really use the help.
Thanks so much up front for any help-direction! Cheers.

can't I just change the "Easy Setup" settings so it would work without degrading the input and subsequently the output? Sorry, I don't quite grasp "fixed-resolution" yet so may be asking something that doesn't have an answer.
FCE only works with certain presets available in the Easy Setup menu. If your footage isn't one of these resolutions then FCE will conform it to the sequence you have selected, downgrading the footage in the process. Final Cut Pro gives you the option to make a sequence set to the dimensions you want it to be, without worrying about whether your image matches a preset.

iam using flv video. i played it back in many ways , with flv player that comes with flash ,as embedded in the time line and using external class that use  NetStream ,the video quality was less than playing the same video  outside the flash invironment using any  stand  alone video player like media player classic .
why is that happening , did i miss some thing ?
is there a setting  that i should do to play hd video in high quality ?

I have just bought the Nike sports plus kit and have noticed that the best kilometer rate in my history is actually SLOWER than the average rate listed in my workout. Does anyone know why/how to fix?

  • Output quality less than source file in sequence FCP 7

I imported a .mov file into my sequence. It is 1920X1080 Apple ProRes.422. 7 1/2 mins. long. 6.18GB.
I added a new audio file for the entire sequence. Inserted a few edits to the credits using Motion.
I exported, first at Apple ProRes 422 HD also 1920X1080. It ended up being over 9GB. The quality was worse than the
source .mov file. These were both auditioned in Quicktime. The original .mov file looks fine at full resolution,
but not after my export. I've read the manual, consulted my online tutorials, read forums. I believe I have set all my
export settings correctly, yet it doesn't export with the crispness of the original file.
If it is important, the thin color bar just above the playhead and timeline is light purple.
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Two things are screwing you up.
    1. Your sequence frame size is not the same as your original media.
    2. Your sequence compressor is h.264 not ProRes.
Take the original clip and drop it into a new sequence.
When FCP asks if you want to match the clip settings, click yes.
Delete that clip then go to your original sequence and copy all the clips then shift over to the new sequence and past them into the timeline.
You may have to remove any distortions (resizing) to have the clips play in full screen.
Export that edit using Export Quicktime (NOT quicktime conversion) with "current settings"  and "make self contained" selected.
Once you have that file, use Compressor to create any non ProRes deliverable.

  • DAQMx has no output when the pulse width is less than 0.1sec

    Hi,
I am developing a application to generate square wave(voltage) and out put from a DAQMx card (PCI-6723   - 32 point analog in/out).  I attache a simplified code (labview8.5) I wish somebody can help me to figure out what is the problem
When I set pulse width longer than 0.1 sec. everything works fine. If I set the pulse width less than 0.1 sec, the output from DAQ eithet gets nothing or incorrect(I used a Osclliscope to monitor the  DAQ output), although my labview monitor showed correct output.   I wonder if it is a sampling issue of the DAQ card.
         Thanks

I think one or two things could be causing the problem.
    1.  Your DAQmx write is set for 1 sample.  I don't know how that dynamic signal type works with such a setting.  Perhaps it is just putting out the first sample of the signal that is generated.
    2.  The math for the frequency of the square wave does not make sense.  You are adding a pulse delay with the pulse period, then inverting it to get the frequency.  So a 1 second delay with 1 second pulse is a 1/2 Hz wave.  A 4 second delay with a 2 second pulse would be a 1/6 Hz wave.  That doesn't make sense to me.
I would recommend building your own waveform or array and not using the express VI.  If you have a 1000 Hz frequency established let's say, build a 1000 element array.  For a .1 second pulse, set replace 100 of those elements with a 100 element array of the voltage value you want.  You can index it wherever you want in the array to account for whatever delay you want.  If you want a 1 msec pulse, then just replace a single element of that array wherever you want.

  • MAXIMUM  iPod video output quality.

Because a few have asked me for some specs...
The iPod is designed to play back video files that have square pixels.
DVDs use non-square pixels to fit widescreen images into 720x480 native rez of DVD standard.
When you square the pixels of a 2.35 aspect ratio movie (like "Ep III" for example) you get an image that has a native rez of 720x304(=218,880)pixels, mathmatically speaking, the iPod can play back MPEG-4 at 480x480(=230,400) pixels, cha-ching!
The iPod CAN playback the full VIEWABLE resolution of a widescreen movie. You can "think" of it this way, the black bar pixels are excluded. The iPod does not care how they are arranged as long as the pixel count falls at or below 230,400. The specs of one of my typical files is: MPEG-4 SP 720x304 2-pass VBR 1.4Mbps average bit rate/Stereo 2-pass AAC-LC at 48kHz 160kbps average bit rate. When played back on my PC using the native Nero7 (not iTunes) application that I use for encoding I can also read the subtitle info embedded in the file and I also get chapter marks. You should see the difference between this and the 320x240 H.264 files most everyone else seem to be getting from iTunes purchased files or using some freeware or paid encoders. My files look at least twice as good at less than double the file size, to me that is an accomplishment. Output image quality is most important to me, file size falls where it does Ep III = 1.41Gigs for example.
I have a 60 Gig iPod and am able to carry (approx) 5000 songs AND 45 movies of varying lengths with me when I travel, and the videos are WORTH viewing, they are not just an adequate looking fascimilie of a movie. So if anyone want's to bag on my file size for being bigger than H.264 at 768kbps, too late I beat you to it, again, for me, the image comes first.
I'd love to see what other people are doing.
    FJ1

The iPod is designed to play back video files that have square pixels.
DVDs use non-square pixels to fit widescreen images into 720x480 native rez of DVD standard.
I fail to see the relevance of your comment. The DVD (a non-square pixel encoded file container) is made to play on a TV/TV monitor device (which displays non-square pixels). The iPod, like all computer monitors, is a square pixel, non-interlaced device. Most good computer software multimedia applications are intelligent enough to know the difference and display the video information at the correct aspect ratio irrespective of the pixel shape in question.
While it is true that your file resolution does meet restrictions for both total pixels allowed (218,880 of 230,400) and total number of macro-16 blocks (855 of 900), it is untrue that "The iPod CAN playback the full VIEWABLE resolution of a widescreen movie." What you are actually seeing on the iPod is a "scaled to fit" version of your original data. However, if you plan to view your files on multiple displays (iPod, TV, Computer Monitor), then I whole heartedly endorse with your approach for those devices capable of display at the full resolution.
My files look at least twice as good at less than double the file size, to me that is an accomplishment. Output image quality is most important to me, file size falls where it does Ep III = 1.41Gigs for example.
Believe this statement requires further qualification. Once again, while there is little doubt that your files should look better when displayed on larger display devices (greater resolution quality), the differences become less significant when viewed on the iPod (where greater "per pixel" compression quality becomes more significant when you resolution is scaled to fit the smaller screen).
I have a 60 Gig iPod and am able to carry (approx) 5000 songs AND 45 movies of varying lengths with me when I travel, and the videos are WORTH viewing, they are not just an adequate looking fascimilie of a movie.
"WORTH" is in the eye of the beholder. And since my eyes aren't what they used to be, I have gone the other route. I only have 101 audio files and 391 movies on my 60G iPod which is about 60% full at the current time.
So if anyone want's to bag on my file size for being bigger than H.264 at 768kbps, too late I beat you to it, again, for me, the image comes first.
In these cases one must choose efficiency in terms of time, space, or complexity. I can't fault your choice but merely point out that my priorities are different than yours. At native iPod viewing resolutions I achieve the same quality as you using the H.264 codec at 400 kbps which yields roughly 4MBs/min of source material or approximately 6 hours of program material in the space of your average files.
Hope that answers your E-mail question, Rich.

  • IDVD output quality

I'm trying to create a slide show with music using iDVD ver 7.1.2 running on Mac OS X ver 10.6.8 and the output quality is very poor.  I'm using high quality jpg files some from Lightroom and others from Photoshop CS5.  Both are highest quality when saving or exporting.  I've tried all thee encoding settings in iDVD with no noticable difference.  I've tried to drop the photos directly into iDVD and also tried to put them in iPhoto and export them to iDVD...nothing works for me.  What am I doing wrong?

    Hi
There are several layers to this
    • DVD - is as Standard (whatever program used) - interlaced SD-Video - and can not be anything better than this.
    • How material was created to iDVD matters
iMovie'08 to 11 - is not the tool of choise if quality is of importance - as they can not export interlaced video any way known to me - but does this by discarding every second line resulting in a sever quality loss
iMovie HD6 and FinalCut are so much better - as they can deliver 100% interlaced video over to iDVD
    • How material is sent to iDVD matters
Share to iDVD - I NEVER USE as this makes iMovie any version to render (badly)
iMovie'08 to 11 - Share to Media Browser and as Large (NOT HD or other resoultion as this too degrades final quality) - forces iMovie to NOT RENDER and iDVD to do this (and so much better)
iMovie HD6 - just close it and import the movie icon into iDVD and iDVD renders.
Else my notes on DVD Quality
    DVD quality
    1. iDVD 08, 09 & 11 has three levels of qualities. (version 7.0.1, 7,0.4 & 7.1.1) and iDVD 6 has the two last ones
    • Professional Quality
(movies + menus up to 120 min.) - BEST (but not always for short movies e.g. up to 45 minutes in total)
    • Best Performances
(movies + menus  less than 60 min.) - High quality on final DVD (Can be best for short movies)
    • High Quality (in iDVD08 or 09) / Best Quality (in iDVD6)
(movies + menus up to 120 min.) - slightly lower quality than above
Menu can take 15 minutes or even more - I use a very simple one with no audio or animation like ”Brushed Metal” in old Themes.
    About double on DL DVDs.
    2. Video from
    • FCE/P - Export out as full quality QuickTime.mov (not self-containing, no conversion)
    • iMovie x-6 - Don't use ”Share/Export to iDVD” = destructive even to movie project and especially so
when the movie includes photos and the Ken Burns effect NOT is used. Instead just drop or import the iMovie movie project icon (with a Star on it) into iDVD theme window.
    • iMovie’08 or 09 or 11 are not meant to go to iDVD. Go via Media Browser or rather use iMovie HD 6 from start.
    3. I use Roxio Toast™ to make an as slow burn speed as possibly e.g. x4 or x1 (in iDVD’08 or 09  this can also be set)
This can also be done with Apple’s Disk Utilities application when burning from a DiskImage.
    4. There has to be about or more than 25Gb free space on internal (start-up) hard disk. iDVD can't
use an external one as scratch disk (if it is not start-up disc). For SD-Video - if HD-material is used I guess that 4 to 5 times more would do.
    5. I use Verbatim ( also recommended by many - Taiyo Yuden DVDs - I can’t get hold of it to test )
    6. I use DVD-R (no +R or +/-RW) - DVD-R play’s on more and older DVD-Players
    7. Keep NTSC to NTSC - or - PAL to PAL when going from iMovie to iDVD
(I use JES_Deinterlacer to keep frame per sec. same from editing to the Video-DVD result.)
    8. Don’t burn more than three DVDs at a time - but let the laser cool off for a while before next batch.
    iDVD quality also depends on.
    • DVD is a standard in it self. It is Standard Definition Quality = Same as on old CRT-TV sets and can not
    deliver anything better that this.
HD-DVD was a short-lived standard and it was only a few Toshiba DVD-players that could playback.
These DVDs could be made in DVD-Studio Pro. But they don’t playback on any other standard DVD-Player.
Blu-Ray / BD can be coded onto DVDs but limited in time to - about 20-30 minutes and then need
    _ Roxio Toast™ 10 Pro incl. BD-component
_ BD disks and burner if full length movies are to be stored
_ BD-Player or PlayStation3 - to be able to playback
The BD-encoded DVDs can be play-backed IF Mac also have Roxio DVD-player tool. Not on any standard Mac or DVD-player
Full BD-disks needs a BD-player (in Mac) as they need blue-laser to be read. No red-laser can do this.
    • HOW much free space is there on Your internal (start-up) hard disk. Go for approx. 25Gb.
less than 5Gb and Your result will most probably not play.
    • How it was recorded - Tripod vs Handheld Camera. A stable picture will give a much higher quality
    • Audio is most often more critical than picture. Bad audio and with dropouts usually results in a non-viewed movie.
    • Use of Video-editor. iMovie’08 or 09 or 11 are not the tools for DVD-production. They discard every second line resulting in a close to VHS-tape quality.
iMovie 1 to HD6 and FinalCut any version delivers same quality as Camera record in = 100% to iDVD
    • What kind of movie project You drop into it. MPEG4 seems to be a bad choice.
other strange formats are .avi, .wmv, .flash etc. Convert to streamingDV first
Also audio formats matters. I use only .aiff or from miniDV tape Camera 16-bit
strange formats often problematic are .avi, .wmv, audio from iTunes, .mp3 etc
Convert to .aiff first and use this in movie project
    • What kind of standard - NTSC movie and NTSC DVD or PAL to PAL - no mix.
(If You need to change to do a NTSC DVD from PAL material let JES_Deinterlacer_3.2.2 do the conversion)
(Dropping a PAL movie into a NTSC iDVD project
(US) NTSC DVDs most often are playable in EU
(EU) PAL DVDs most often needs to be converted to play in US
UNLESS. They are play-backed by a Mac - then You need not to care
    • What kind of DVDs You are using. I use Verbatim DVD-R (this brand AND no +R or +/-RW)
    • How You encode and burn it. Two settings prior iDVD’08 or 09
Pro Quality (only in iDVD 08 & 09)
Best / High Quality (not always - most often not)
Best / High Performances (most often my choice before Pro Quality)
    1. go to iDVD pref. menu and select tab far right and set burn speed to x1 (less errors = plays better) - only in iDVD 08 & 09
(x4 by some and may be even better)
    2. Project info. Select Professional Encoding - only in iDVD 08 & 09.
    Region codes.
iDVD - only burn Region = 0 - meaning - DVDs are playable everywhere
DVD Studio pro can set Region codes.
    1 = US
    2 = EU

What it turned out to be was the "quality" settings in iDVD. The total clip time was NOT over 2 hours or 4.7GB, yet iDVD created massive visual artifacts on the "professional quality" setting.
I switched the settings to "high quality" which solved the problem. According iDVD help, "high quality" determines the best bit rate for the clips you have.
I have NEVER seen iDVD do this before, especially when I was under the 2 hour and 4.7GB limits.
For anyone else, there seem to be 2 places in iDVD to set quality settings, the first is under "preferences" and the second under "project info." They do NOT seem to be linked (i.e. if you change one, the other is NOT changed). take care, Mario
TO GET IT TO WORK SLIGHTLY FASTER
    • Minimum of 25Gb free space on Start-Up hard disk
    • No other programs running in BackGround e.g. Energy-Saver
    • Don’t let HD spin down or be turned off (in Energy-Save)
    • Move hard disks that are not to be used to Trash - To be disconnected/turned off
    • Goto Spotlight and set the rest of them under Integrity (not to be scanned)
    • Set screen-saver to a folder without any photo - then make an active corner (up right for me) and set
pointer to this - turns on screen saver - to show that it has nothing to show

  • How do you reduce image to less than 5 mb

I need to reduce a simple image to less than 5 mb without losing too much quality.  How is this possible in Photoshop Touch?  I don't understand how to convert the size from pixels to mb etc
    Please help a beginner

Well, a 4000 x 3000 (about 12 Megapixels) image saved as JPEG 100% quality will average about 2.5 MB in file size. (Note how I said average depending on image.) I can't remember offhand how much PS Touch compresses an image when saved as JPEG. Maybe someone from Adobe staff can comment. There's no way of adjusting how a project gets saved other than the file type when exporting.
PS Touch can handle about 12 Megapixels max (though I've had it go as high as 4000 x 4000 in a new project).

  • System reboots with audigy2 value. get irql less than or not equil. please help new c

    hello my name is carlos
my system reboots at random (more in games) with audigy 2 value..
could someone please advise me on the problem i have with my new audigy 2 card. i would like to get it working and not have to get another card. i got this one because my onboard sound is so junky with midi music and has a poor s/n on recording. the blaster card seems to meet my expectations except for the reboots.
i have read on forums about this same issue with ati video cards in the 9200+ range so i thought that might be the cause but i went back to the onboard audio and the problem went away.
at random my system reboots. i get an error.. irql_not less than or equil or something like that and then it reboots. i let it submit to microsoft and they only say its a problem with a device driver. i have all the updated drivers for all my hardware at this point. i have all the windows updates as well. my xp is legal. i dont think its the power supply but.. could it be? the readings with my digital meter are normal. i have an older but quality digital multi tester. got it when in college. so i know its accurate. it reads 4.9 on 5 and 2.2 on 2. all this info because of the information i have read already. is the audigy a power hungry card? cause i dont get any reboots when i use the onboard sound and my ati video so what ever is going on it has something to do with the sound card.
i cant find a newer driver on the driver site for it except for the beta. so i assume there is no updated driver for the card.
i have a ups backup system. it has come on but it has never caused a computer hang when it has. its a 250 watt unit with plenty of battery backup. same battery backs up my ham radio equip. i am going to reinstall the card and see if in some chance it is munipulating the waveform to the supply. the power to the machine reads 22 volts.
i have had some issues with the power company recently. they had to do some major repairs because i was having problems with flickers. but they fixed... [Show more]

thank you for your reply to my problem.
sorry i missed that detail in my information. that is one of the things i checked. video is on 6 and audio is on 7. i dont see any other devices sharing those irqs in the device manager irq information. or any other devices on same irqs or i/o
before anyone mentions it i also have 3 fans sucking air. my case is actually an old server case with lots of vent holes in front and side. i was thinking of getting some of the slot fans and blowing on video and sound card. could this be the issue? the monitor app says my sytem temp is 82 degrees. 27 on processor.
i appreaciate the input. i ran it all night last night with nero media player running with visulations on. the music was still playing but the video was locked up when i checked it this morning? nothing but mushrooms on my screen from the visulation. i dont know if something happened with nero (most likely this time) but thats the first time that error came up. the odd thing about this really is that it may go for hours and not do this but it seems to do it more when we play demanding games. i ran the machine yesterday for hours on my inverter (ups system) from the batteries with no problem. its output is just a little hotter than my house voltage 27 volts and my line volatage is about 9. but it may reboot before i get this post completed. it ran without problem for 7 hours with all the major games i have until the batteries ran down. (two high capacity 2 volt deep cycles on the outside deck)its really odd. its almost at random. at this point i suspect that i have a power supply problem of some sort. im gonna get a new supply by friday and see if that hel
    ps.
i have to wonder who makes the best supply? anyone have any sujestions? perhaps whats really causing this is the capacitors in the supply cant sustain a clean output with the shaky power supplied by aep at my home. aep says that they fixed the problem but i still see flickers. i dont have any problems with the power on anything else in my home. im a little particular. lights that flicker bug me. its not a serious flicker just a slight diming that i have tried to catch with a dvm meter and cant. i have a 350 watts supply but its probably not the best made supply out there. i bought it at a local place that sells off brand computer parts. my fault i guess.. i've had it for maybe 3 years. i had a supply go bad back then and ruin a hard dri've on me. im bad for giving more info than needed but im just a yacker. thanks for the help..

  • Creative ITRIGUE 3800 - less than 1 month, only playback through two red connectors out back

i have a Creative Itrigue 3800 system that i bought within 30 days. the only playback i get through these speakers are from the dual red outputs in back. yes that is correct, there are two red outputs going to one speaker. i cannot do a white and red hookup since the speaker connectors because of their mold will only fit on one manner in any case i am sure that only the two red connectors work, whether there should be two red's (and a set of 2 whites) per speaker i have no idea. what i do know is that i dont have the original boxes for the speakers and that they are less than month old. the receipt i do have. i'd love to know what i should do to fix this problem. i would love to hear from someone. i'd love to get these speakers to work somehow or take the corrective action. thanks
btw i dont get any playback ever from the dual whites. just the dual reds (one speaker & bass seems to work though the bass isn't that great quality though i'd love to just have the speakers functional)

How is it BBYs fault at all? All they are is a middle man. They didn't produce the faulty phone and trust that the vendors they partner with send them non faulty products.
Because BBY realizes there are defective products they offer a 30 day window where BBY will deal with the headache of dealing with the manufacturer instead of the customer. After that the customer deals with the manufacturer if there is a problem.
If the customer wants more peace of mind they offer extended warranties so you can deal with BBY only.
I truly am sorry that you got a defective phone and hope it is fixed or properly taken care of. I just don't see how you can link it to BBY as its not their responsibility.

I've had my BB connection about two months and on average I get around 5Mb downstream -- I live in a rural location so this is good.
The last few days my connection has been appalling and today I see the downstream is less than upstream so something is very wrong.
I've had the router off and on several times; I swapped the filter, and checked for line noise on the phone.  All seems fine.  There are (apparently) no known issues in my area.
I tired the speedtester.bt.com but it always fails after the "Upstream speed for :Test 1"...Gets to 100% then tells me the System is currently busy, please try again (been doing that for two days!)
Earlier today I did achieve a 5Mb Downstream for about two hours but it's gone again.
I know I should call the faults people but I find it mind numbing to go through the Indian call centre and all the unplugging/plugging script I need to go through -- I am beyond that process I think
    Any thoughts greatly appreciated.
    thanks, David.

Its the resetting and restarting of the home hub that has caused you speed to be put into a banded profile, as the exchange thinks there is a fault.
You should be connecting at about 17056Kbs.
You must leave your home hub turned on and connected to your phone line for at least five days.
During that time, do not reset or disconnect it, even to do a speed test.
If your download speed has not increased after that time, then return to this thread for assistance.
    Thank you

  • Suggest Camcorder less than $500, prefer not tape

    Pardon the awkwardly worded headline.
Do I still need a tape camera to edit with FCP Express?
Would prefer not. Regardless, suggestions of a good camcorder for less than $500 greatly appreciated. Shooting mostly family stuff. Don't know if I can accomodate the extra disk space required by HD.
    Thanks for any guidance.

"Do I still need a tape camera to edit with FCP Express?"
    No.
" suggestions of a good camcorder for less than $500"
Any standard AVCHD Video Camera will do the job using FCE > Log & Transfer.
Cameras are personal and features are important such as headphone socket, external mic input and an OIS (optical image stabilizer).
You need to test drive cameras in your buget zone to try how they fit into your hand and where buttons are located etc.
3 sensor chips are important to boost the image quality as is the quality of the lens, usually found in the higher end camcorders.
Second hand solid state cameras may put a high end cam into the budget. They have hardly any moving parts as compared the old tape cameras and thus second hand solid state cams are a safer purchase second hand than tape cams.
As far as HD space you should get yourself an external fast drive eg. firewire, thunderbolt or USB 3 for media storage. As big as you can afford.
    Nowdays that's about a 1Terabyte or so.
HD video when absorbed to FCE will use around 40 gig per hour and the render files during editing will keep the gigs climbing.

  • Compare output quality with DVD Studio Pro 3 and iDVD 08?

Can anyone one tell me if there is a difference in output quality between the new iDVD 08 and DVD Studio Pro 3. I have not bought DVD Studio Pro 4 as it is not available as a separate purchase. I am wondering if I should bother with iDVD 08 if the output is the same or less than Studio 3.
    Thanks, Ed

I'll add this. I came to the forum this evening on this very subject. I have been using IDVD for years producing promotional DVD's that have been lauded by all my customers. I recently popped for FCP and DVD-SP to improve the quality of my productions. Yet, here I am, trying to figure out why DVD-SP is delivering terrible artifacts on high speed movement in the video. This is regardless of the settings for the encoder. They're better at the higher settings, but they're still there. Now I think (hope to find a different answer here on the forum) I have to encode with Compressor, re-import the track and re-link all 80 of the chapter links. The same video showed absolutely none of these artifacts when encoded in iDVD. The finished product looked identical to hooking up my miniDV camera to the television. The flexibility of menu construction in DVD-SP is amazing, but Apple needs to scrap the fancy built-in encoder and just use whatever is working in iDVD.

    All,
    Please help!!
I have tested my Application Client Project in WSAD on my pc and it works fine.
I have 1gb RAM on my pc. When I deploy the same app on another xp pc(same as mine but 512mb RAM) I get a heap size error. Here is the exact error:

The initial heap size must be less than or equal to the maximum heap size.
The default initial and maximum heap sizes are 4194304 and 267380736 bytes.

I have changed the value of Xms and Xmx of JVM_ARGS to different size but I sitll get error. Anyone knows what the problem is. Thanks..

Don't know why, but the "maximum heap size: 267380736 bytes" value is just slightly less than 256*1024*1024, wheras the reported initial size is equal to that.
Try setting the initial value to 255MB.
