FCP can't detect a new IEEE 1394 4 to 9 pin Firewire

Hello folks,
I am using a Mac Pro which has both 4 to 6 and 4 to 9 pin Firewire terminals. My old 4 to 6 pin cable broke, so I have bought the new Firewire 4 to 9 pins. The camera end is exactly the same, only computer end differs. But when I try to capture the footage, FCP gives me the warning that Capturing device cannot be detected. In fact, Mac can't even detect the camcorder when I wanna use it for Skype. So I am wondering if I need to change some Capture settings, or what the problem might be?
Thanks for any input,
Cheers

Hello,
thanks for your response. I did find out the problem. The problem is actually in camcorder's fire wire terminal. I went to Apple store, tried it on numerous computers, non of them detected it.
Thanks again
Cheers

  • P30: External HD isn't detected when using IEEE 1394 cable

My P30 won't/ can't detect my newly aquired Western Digitak Extreme Lighted Drive 320GB when I connect it via the firewire port. I use a 6 pin to 4 pin cable (which cost a fortune, by the way) that is supposed to be a way to connect this drive to a pc.
My ieee 1394 driver seems to be called "VIA OHCI Compliant IEEE 1394 host controller".
Can anyone tell me what to do? I really need to connect this drive by firewire because I need the USBs for other devices.
    Thank you!

This may sound like an obvious problem, but is the drive:
    1. Set to Master on the jumpers?
    2. Formatted?
If the drive is not set to master, the computer will not recognise it using 1394. And if it is set to master, but it has not yet been formatted, the computer will register that something using 1394 is connected, but will not know what to do. To format you right click on My Computer, and select manage.

  • My system can't detect Videocam thru firewire

I have tried to connect my videocam to my PC thru firewire.
After connect, I on my Videocam (set to video mode) but XP can't detect any new device. ???
I have tried lugging the 6 pin firewire to the back of the CPU and also onto the optional IEEE 1394 connectors using the IEEE1394 bracket.
I have check the BIOS and the IEEE1394 is ENABLED.
When I view the network connection under LAN or High-Speed Internet, the 1394 connection shown
    Connected, Firewired
    1394 Net adaptor
    My Videocam is JVC GR-D270.
I currently do not have any software to capture the video other than window movie maker.
Appreciate if someone can advise on how to go abt this problem.
    Thank

Did you already try ALL possible modes on the videocam? Did you check the videocam's manual that video mode is the correct setting for making contact with the computer?

  • NI-IMAQ for IEEE 1394 hardware compatibilities

Need to check if the following camera can work with NI-IMAQ for IEEE 1394?

If you look at How Can I Tell If My IEEE 1394 (Firewire) Camera Is Supported by the NI-IMAQ for 1394 you will find the dragonfly listed there.
You will also find a reference to Digital camera specification: 1.3 in the camera data sheet which confirms this.
    Hope this helps!

  • How to detect when new record is created?

How can I detect when new record is created in PA30? For example, a newly create record for infotype 6 (address).
Can I get the information in PCL4?

    Hi Irene,
the field PAnnnn-AEDTM, nnnn is the infotype number, will give you the date when the record was last changed.
Not sure if you can precisely get the date when the infotype was created. I dont feel the need to read cluster form the same.

Well, you can just count the pins, but I'm sure it's a 4-pin.  See this illustration:

  • I am using IMovie 11 with a new iMac.  Unable to import video from a Panasonic PV-GS400 mini-DV camcorder using a Firewire IEEE 1394 400 cable connected to a Firewire 400 to 800 adapter which is then connected to a Thunderbolt to Firewire 800 adapter.

How can I get iMovie to recognize my Panasonic PV-GS400 as a device so I can import video to my iMac?  I have a FireWire IEEE 1394 400 cable connected to the camcorder.  Since my new iMac has only Thunderbolt ports, I purchased a Firewire 400 to 800 adapter to connect to the cable.  I also purchased a FireWire 800 to Thunderbolt adapter to connect to the computer.  My camcarder is still not recognized.

I would suggest that you try a 9 pin to 4 pin Firewire Cable along with the Firewire to Thunderbolt adapter.
Those Firewire 400 to 800 adapters do not seem to work well with iMovie.
The 9 pin to 4 pin cables are available at reasonable prices here, for example.

  • Can I link my two laptops using IEEE 1394 (Firewire)?

    Hi,
I have a X31 and a X60 laptop. Both are running on Windows XP Pro and both have IEEE 1394 (firewire) ports.
I seem to read it somewhere that I can do a network link between two laptops via the firewire ports.
However, it does not work for me after linking them with a firewire cable.
    Am I missing something?

    Am I missing something?
You have to configure the IPs on the both side as with any other network adapters.
Alternatively you can set the internet sharing to the  fireware adaper, on one side only so the pc with internet shared will acts as DHCP server and the other will atutomagically configure itself with a correct IP.

  • Solaris can't detect new attached hardisks

Hi, i m newbie in Solaris 9. Currently I have installed Solaris 9 with 1 hardisk. So i attached 2 more new hardisks to the server. I create a new directory in root (/) directory. and attached the new hardisks to the Server and reboot. After reboot, from the Solaris Management Console, shown only 1 hardisk, which is current system disk.
May I know how to detect the new attached hardisks in Solaris? Any command recommend? or do u know any other methods can try?
    Thanks
    Raymond

    Hi ,
The following are ways to detect newly attached devices
    1) Bring the solaris box to ok promt and run the boot -r.
    2) Boot the solaris box into default run level and run devfsadm with option -v
    3) Touch /reconfigrue and reboot the solaris box.
    Thank you,

  • Is there any way to interface an IEEE 1394 camera to LabVIEW 8.0 without buying the new vision software package?

Is there any way to interface an IEEE 1394 camera to LabVIEW 8.0 without buying the new vision software package?  We upgraded to LabVIEW 8.0 to use a new NI Digital I/O device, but we do not have the budget to upgrade the camera driver for 8.0?  Is there any other way to interface an IEEE 1394 camera to LabVIEW?
    Thanks,
    Bpb

I think this is possible if there is an SDK delivered with your camera or
you use the Windows 1394 video driver for handling this.

I can't get my new 7th gen nano to sync to my exsisting itunes. It keeps saying the ipod is not detected.

If youre like me, I have so many Apple devices, I always move things over manually rather than remember what to sync and what not to sync........ There’s an option to UNCHECK sync on any device if that helps you in ITUNES.
On any device, like your phone, in ITUNES you can check the option for manual vs. automatically sync.

  • G4 DA can't detect new Aluminum Keyboard

I just got a refurbished Aluminum Keyboard off ebay (MB110LL/A) and it won't detect in either my Power Mac or my CRT iMac. I even plugged it into my wife's XP laptop and it detected it, bu couldn't install the driver. Is there a setting I need to change to get this going or did I just get a defective one?

Well, that doesn't happen with this keyboard. I have a windows keyboard that does that, when I plug it in, it says that it can't detect the keyboard and to press the button to the right of the shift key to try and detect it. That doesn't happen with the aluminum keyboard. And it still shows up as "vend_device" under the system profiler, which is just weird.
