FCP creation date problem

Hi all,
1 have an installation with three MDC Xserves (10.6.2) ,8 Mac Pro clients ( 10.5.8 ) with XSAN 2.2.1 and Open Directory .
The MAC pro clients have Final Cut Pro 6.0.6 installed.
When we modify a project in FCP and save it then the creation date of the file changes to the modification date. This behavior happens only in the XSAN volumes and only for the FCP projects, if we create a text file , edit it and then save it the modification date changes but the creation date is not affected .
Thanks in advance.

Hello Margaret,
How are you downloading the pictures?
If you plug your camera to the computer and use the camera's software or iPhoto, it would add the created date to your picture. I you use a card reader, I'm afraid it would not, unless you use iPhoto with the card reader.

  • Flash Drive & Creation Date problems

    Hello,
I have had several flash drives (different models and brands), all formatted for MS-DOS, since I need to use them on both Mac & PC... when they are formatted this way my notebook (12 inch Powerbook G4 1.33GHZ, 10.3.9) reads it as having a creation date of Dec. 31 1903, no matter what the actual creation date was. It does this with files that are dragged in from the notebook, from the PC, and from those that are created on the Flash drive. The PC reads the created dates just fine. But once they hit the mac reader, everything gets messed up and only the modified date remains with the file as it gets moved around. The Apple folks say this is a problem if the flash is not formatted specifically for Mac... Does anyone know a way around this so I can use it with both PC and Mac??? Thanks!! Fifi

Use and Ipod. I had so much trouble because whenever I transferred files to a usb drive (stick) it changed the dates to the date they were transferred, not the last day worked one, so I would work on older files without knowing it. Real problem. I tried several sticks and called the companies. It is a MAC problem--the resolution, use your ipod to transfer files and it all works out fine. 10.3.9 seems to be unique to this problem--10.4 seems to have fixed the problem. So, until I change OS, I use my ipod and it works fine.

  • Different creation dates on different computers

I downloaded the same photos from the same camera on the same day to my home and office computers, both into iPhoto. At home, the creation date is correct, but at work the date is wrong in every way including the year. I checked the system time and date, and that is correct. I ran TechTools pro, and found that there were other files with wrong modificatin dates, but otherwise no problems were detected. (the vast majority of file dates on my computer are correct.) We have two cameras at work, different Olympus models, and I have the same creation date problem with both of them when I download to my work computer, so I have to conclude that there is something wrong with this computer, but I can't for the life of me figure out what.

    Cindy:
Welcome to the Apple Discussions. Are both computers running the same system and iPhoto versions? Are the date formats set the same on the two computers. They are set in the International pane?
First run Disk Utility and repair disk permissions. I doubt if that will do it but it's certainly won't hurt.
If you manually upload from the camera to the office computer before importing into iPhoto are the dates OK? Also try logging into another account on your office computer an trying an import into iPhoto from there. If it does import correctly then there's an issues with your primary account. It could be a bad or corrupt preference file other than iPhoto's. You can run Preferential Treatment (at VersionTracker.com) to find any obvious damaged files. Here's a method another user developed to look for incompatabilites:
    Trouble Shooting Preferences
Go to HD/Users/Your_name/Library. Move the Prefs folder (in its entirety) to the desktop. Start iPhoto. Determine if problem is fixed.
If the problem IS fixed, then go to the new Prefs folder that the OS will have created and open it up. Except for those items that are obviously not related, move the contents to the old Prefs folder on the desktop, replacing what had been there. When in doubt, move the item. The worst thing that can happen is a harmless "alert" message. Then, trash what remains of the new folder. Finally, move the old (but modified) Prefs folder back to the library.
If the problem is NOT fixed, trash the new Prefs folder and move the old one back to its original location.
If none of the preveious works, a reinstall of the the combo updater that represents the latest system version on that computer might help. Follow up that reinstall with a permissions repair. Good luck.

  • Problem in creation date while transporting KM content through ICE offline

The problem that I am facing is we transported the KM content successfully, but the problem is for some of the files the creation date is changed to the  current date. Is there any way to get those dates.
Points will be awarded for helpfull answers

    Hi Raghu,
you might want to have a look at SAP Note 883859.
It shows you what are the prerequisites to be able to transport the some special properties like the ones you have mentioned with ICE.
As you can see there, it is not possible to transport them through an offline transport.
If you do an online transport on NW04 SPS15 Patch 4 and higher, and using a target repository that supports this feature, you should have no problem also transporting those properties.
Here the link to the SAP Help information for online ICE transport: http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw70/helpdata/EN/35/4cf72bfe18455e892fc53345f4f919/frameset.htm
    Hope this helps,

    Hi Uday,
    Thanks for your post.
It seems the created date not stored in Project object in TFS API. To get team project created date automatically, you can query the date from
    [Tfs_DefaultCollection].[dbo].[tbl_projects]
    table>> [last_update]field use coding.

  • Missing Creation Date Causing Problems

Where to begin. Well, we've moved several terabytes of data to a new Xserve RAID. Somewhere in the process of setting up permissions, etc. we've lost some creation dates of files, mostly .NEF files as far as I can tell. The problem comes in with Bridge CS3. When you click on a folder with these files, you get a double popup window with "The Operation Could Not Be Completed". Once you click through the popup for every file in the folder, everything seems to be peachy. Anyway to fix this so the users don't get the error message?
All Mac users using Bridge 2.1.0.100 some PowerPC G5's, Some Intel MacPro's. Lots and Lots of RAM in each.

Afp has a lot of problems. On our network using an Xserv we were forced to use a single authentication because of this exact issue. security wise it's pretty crap but the servers isn't accesable off our physical subnet so was acceptable. Unfortunatly we are now using a mixed envrionment (PC/MAC) and the server will shortly be moved to a centeral location so a mover ot Active directory authentication will be needed.
To get around these problems we're using a Samba implimentation called DAVE (the licencing is pretty reasonable). It allows full AD authentication/Workgroups etc and fixes a lot of issues with Apples SMB. On our shared storage system for video editing (Edit Share) which also uses DAVE because Final cut Pro and Quicktime (both apple produces) cant reliably write Quicktime files across a network using Apples AFP, but is 100% reliable with DAVE.
Glad to see some of these issues being sorted

  • Creation date used during ingest File Rename incorrect

    Hi
    System:
    Windows 7 64-bit SP1
    Prelude CC v2.0.1 (118)
I've been using Prelude about 9 months now and have got used to it's foibles.  Hopefully some of these are being addressed for future releases.
But the recent update seems to have introduced some problems that I didn't notice in previous versions.
My query is on the new File Rename feature (the lower part of the Ingest panel).
I have a preset for renaming my clips.  I want to rename using:
Custom Text - I type this in depending on which location
Date - I select DDMMYY Creation Date
    Auto Increment - (01)
I have two issues using this preset, it could be me idk.
The first is that the Creation Date appears as today's date, not the one from the file as I would understand it.  I would prefer it to pick up the actual Creation Date as it shows in the Metadata of the clip and also the time (i know this has already been suggested by an FCP user).
The second is that If i rename a batch of files using the Auto Increment and then decide I want to add some more footage shot at a later date but maybe the same location.   I already have for example files labelled location_01 to location_15.  Now i want to ingest some more but starting at location_16.  Currently, I can't change the AutoIncrement field setting as you can in Bridge CC.
How I wish u could just implement the Batch rename features of Bridge in Prelude.  I am trying to switch from Bridge as it doesn't play nicely with video on my system.  It's a pain.  I love Prelude but can u please improve the renaming function.
If the creation date was correct the auto increment feature would not be an issue because the files would be named differently.  As it is, ingesting tons of footage on the same day results in chaos.  Having to remember to manually change the date (I have it as a Custom Text field) is a nightmare and I can see forgetting to do it then it will be a mess.
Perhaps my workflow is slightly different to someone who works in say TV but it would be nice when I know the features present in Bridge applied to all the other Suite apps.
Any pointers would be REALLY useful because this is driving me insane at the moment.  And you guys are understandably reluctant to release details of future changes and features, so who knows you could be working on it right now.
    Thanks
Just found there is another post asking more or less the same but no comments

I'd like to second the request to be able to change the starting value of the auto increment function when ingesting in Prelude CC.
If I'm ingesting batches of footage either from different cards or at different times, it creates a mess of both manual file renaming in Finder (or batch renaming—same issue of additional, unnecessary work) and also (sometimes?) getting "file ingest error" messages from Prelude because I've already imported a file with the Custom_Text_(01) name.

  • Applescript for matching two files creation date

    Hello,
I reopen here a question that I posted on another forum (macrumors):
I have converted almost 1,000 video files from MPG1 to MOV in order importing them to Final Cut Pro (FCP can't import directly MPG1!).
    So I have TWO folders:
Folder 1 with the original VideoXXXX.mpg1 files
Folder 2 the converted VideoXXXX.mov files.
The file names on both folders are the same. And the number of files in the two folders are the same.
My problem is that the creation date of files in the Folder 2 is the "conversion" time (July 2012) instead the original creation time (from 2005 to 2010).
When imported to FCP, I need the creation time. The name doesn't include the time, so I don't know the file date looking only at the file name.
I need an Apple Script for changing the creation date to the files in Folder 2 files matching the creation date on the Folder 1 files.
    - For file n on Folder 1, take name and creation date
    - Look for the same file name on Folder 2
    - Set creation date of file on Folder 2 to Creation date of original file
I have seen that it can be made with the "touch" command, but I'm new to applescripting and any help would be very appreciated!!
    Thanks

    Wooow...
How many helping responses! Thanks to you all.
I am trying the first sugested solution.
I have tried adding "file" to theOriginalFile twtwtw script.
    (name of file theOriginalFile)
But the error persists (I changed -5 to -4, as the extension is only MPG)
    tell application "System Events"
get POSIX path of every file of folder "HD Mac:users:fhuet:Desktop:Vid1" whose name extension = "MPG"
      --> {"/Users/fhuet/Desktop/Vid1/MOV04859.MPG", "/Users/fhuet/Desktop/Vid1/MOV04860.MPG", "/Users/fhuet/Desktop/Vid1/MOV04882.MPG", "/Users/fhuet/Desktop/Vid1/MOV04905.MPG", "/Users/fhuet/Desktop/Vid1/MOV04906.MPG"}
get creation date of file "/Users/fhuet/Desktop/Vid1/MOV04859.MPG"
      --> date "viernes, 31 de diciembre de 2004 23:39:00"
get text 1 thru -4 of name of file "/Users/fhuet/Desktop/Vid1/MOV04859.MPG"
--> error number -1720 from text 1 thru -4 of name of file "/Users/fhuet/Desktop/Vid1/MOV04859.MPG"
    Resultado:
error "System Events ha detectado un error: Espectro no válido." number -1720 from text 1 thru -4 of name of file "/Users/fhuet/Desktop/Vid1/MOV04859.MPG"
    If I do
set strippedFileName to name of file theOriginalFile
    I got:
    tell application "System Events"
get POSIX path of every file of folder "HD Mac:users:fhuet:Desktop:Vid1" whose name extension = "MPG"
      --> {"/Users/fhuet/Desktop/Vid1/MOV04859.MPG", "/Users/fhuet/Desktop/Vid1/MOV04860.MPG", "/Users/fhuet/Desktop/Vid1/MOV04882.MPG", "/Users/fhuet/Desktop/Vid1/MOV04905.MPG", "/Users/fhuet/Desktop/Vid1/MOV04906.MPG"}
get creation date of file "/Users/fhuet/Desktop/Vid1/MOV04859.MPG"
      --> date "viernes, 31 de diciembre de 2004 23:39:00"
      get name of file "/Users/fhuet/Desktop/Vid1/MOV04859.MPG"
      --> "MOV04859.MPG"
So it's OK. After that, obviously, it gives another error.
So, the problem is with the instruction
set strippedFileName to text 1 thru -4 of (name of file theOriginalFile). There must be a sintaxis error on that. It says "ESPECTRO NO VALIDO" ERROR
I keep trying and will try the other options.
But I'd like to test all of them, as it's the best way to well understand and study the lenguage.
    Thanks again.

  • How can I change the file creation date?

I recently downloaded more than 1,000 photos from my vacation. I'm preparing to burn DVDs for a friend, and I noticed that when I copy the photos to the desktop, they don't all have the same date. I have read a couple of discussions here about the difference between photo creation date and file creation date, and I understand the difference. But something seems odd to me.
For purposes of illustration, let's take two photos: "A" was taken with the camera in the landscape position (how one normally holds a point-and-shoot); "B" was taken with the camera held in the portrait position (rotated 90 degrees). The photos were taken on April 24, about three minutes apart, but not imported into iPhoto until May 19.
In iPhoto, both files show the actual creation date. Yay!
The problem is with the files after having been copied to the desktop.
When copied to the desktop, the info panel for photo "A" shows April 24 for both the "created" and "modified" dates. Photo "B," however, shows May 19 for the "created" and "modified" dates.
Apparently, when the "B-style" photos were imported into iPhoto, the app automatically rotated them so that they are viewed correctly (without having to turn your head sideways). This is a very nice feature, but the result is that the file date changes.
Is there any way to change this? I want the DVD to show the date the photo was created, not imported to iPhoto. Picky, I know … but I'm like that.

Apparently, when the "B-style" photos were imported into iPhoto, the app automatically rotated them so that they are viewed correctly (without having to turn your head sideways). This is a very nice feature, but the result is that the file date changes.
Correct.  Your camera has an Auto-Rotate feature. However, the camera does not actually rotate any pixels in the file, but instead flags it with an instruction: "Display me this way". This is a tag in the Exif metadata. When you import a file with this tag iPhoto creates a modified version. It does this because most of the apps that integrate with it -  email clients, word processors etc - simply don't understand this Exif tag. So if you used the shot in a word processing doc, uploaded it to many Web site etc, the shot would come out sideways.
iPhoto has nothing to say about File dates. There are various file utilities that will edit the dates on Files
    http://www.macupdate.com/app/mac/11143/a-better-finder-attributes
for instance. But there are otheers, search on  MacUpdate

  • How can i change the Creation Date of a video (mts-Format)?

I work with Phohoshop Elements 13 an i use Online-Album (Revel)
    My Problem:
I would like to change the Creation Date of a Video-File (mts-Format). I don't no why but the date (in Metadata) is wrong and i would like it to change. If i change it in Photoshop Elements the Date (Edit... Change Date...) it seems that the date has changed, but in reality in the Metadata is still the wrong date (see attachment).
Why this ist important for me:
The Adobe Revel (Online-Album) takes always the date from the metadata which is wrong.
Any idea how i can resolve my Problem?
How i can change the Metadata?

    Hi,
Did you get help ? Or do you have a work around ? I have about 20.000 Pictures and countless videos to organize myself.
I just ran into the same problem. Except that after a while Adobe will undo the changes I have made to the date.
Here's a  screen shot I just made of one of the files.
Look at this one ! This one is really interesting:
After changing the date to : 1889 . Adobe changed it to 01.01.1970 00:59

    Dear Gurus,

I have a scenario, I'm facing a problem that when I change the PO creation date between 2011 and 2012 period,  the price of the PO at times will not change according to the PIR validity start date. Is there any OSS note related to this issue or I'm missing out any logic?

    HI,
By default, the pricing conditions are dependant on PO document date.
But there are different options like, whether you want your pricing to be dependant on Delivery date of PO item or current date (sy-datum) or GR date etc.
This filed is available in 2 places: 1. Vendor master>purchasing data> Pricing Date Control
    2. Info record>Purchasing data> Pr.Date Cat.
Check in these 2 places and then simulate pricing by changing the corresponding date.

  • Wrong risk creation date in PWA 2010

    Hey,
We have a weird behavior in PWA 2010. The creation date of some risks in a project site is going crazy.
Some risks are OK, but other have a creation date of 30/12/1899. I'm pretty sure PWA didn't exist at that time ;-)
Would you know what could the cause and the solution of this problem?

Indeed this could explain this behavior.
Why is this formula by the way? The created field is usually populated automatically with the current date and do not need any formula.
You'll have this behavior (strange date) if the formula doesn't return anything (in case the "created" value is empty). In this case, it will return a default value that is this odd date.
I'd advice to review this field and make it equal to the current date and time, with no formula.
    Hoep this helps.

  • Archiving in H264 while keeping folders/file creation date

*Hi, I just wanted to share with you a script that helps to convert the content of the FCP "capture scratch" folder into H264, to move the converted files into a Device, put the h264 files in the correct client folder.*
*Into this client folder, it creates folders with the original production name, while it keeps the original creation file date.*
*So it keeps the original folder hierarchy and date for my archives, because to browse with the final cut server client is great, but sometimes you just want navigate in your file system to work with your videos.*
*STEP 1* : Original Assets Cataloging (production scan)
I have a Scheduled Production scan of my "capture scratch",
(Capture scratch is on our SAN, so all Edit suites are capturing in the same "capture scratch" folder)
*STEP 2*: Detect to which client the asset belongs to (thanks to the location name) and set the proper [Owner ]metadata asset
NB: for that I ask all editors to put the name of the client at the beginning of the name of their FCP projects. ex CBS_snow in paris.fcp
I have Subscriptions that filters created assets location to see if the location "begins with" the client name, then give a "response" that set the correct [Owner] metadata, and also change the "statut" to "WAITINGFORENCODE" (you have to create it into Lookup/Status)
So I have as many Subscriptions/Reponse as actual Clients
*STEP 3 :* I have a subscription that filters Modified Assets that have a status of "WAITINGFORENCODE"
    then gives 3 responses.
+Response 1:+ Set Asset Metadate Status to "ENCODING" ( yeah, Status are made for collaborating tags.. but here we are...)
+Response 2:+ Copy in H264 (that's where Matrox is great!) into a "transcode folder"
+Response 3+ (the tough one): Copy the transcoded asset to the right archive location and keep original creation date, create an asset and put it in the same production as the original, and set the original Asset Metatadata Status as "ENCODED"
    Run Script
Command Path: //path to the script.
In the command parameters you'll need to enter: [File name] [Location] [Owner] [Asset ID]
So here is the Script. It's a LOT inspired from Andy Sykes http://fcsvoodoo.blogspot.com/2009/07/add-newly-created-asset-to-originating.htm l
A big thank to him for publishing it.

Weekness of the script is when you're converting non .MOV files (or different extension in the H264 copy than the original), I could not figure out how Andy Skypes managed with the extensions in his script, so I just pass it.
Now it's working like a charm after I had a lot of Issues due to the escape characters, but thanks the the perl command ,it's good now. But you will still need to ask editors to avoid / and & and () in file names...
Well, I just make it work yesterday, so now I breath cause I couldn't figure out if investing if FCS would be more a sufferance than a relieve because lot of people saying that you have to totally rethink the way you work with assets, and forget about your folder hierarchy...but this, I couldn't hear It, especially when I saw the mess that was about to happen with thousands of P2 clips.
My conclusion would be: Metadatata is great, but folder hierarchy can save you if you loose your DB or want to migrate ...

  • Incorrect delivery creation date in stock transport order

    Hi,
I've checked SAP notes and forums but no answers to this one....hope you can help.
I have 2 plants, in separate company codes.  One orders from the other using a full inter-company process.
The issue is, when i raise a PO the delivery date (shipping tab) is updated correctly, using the agreed lead time (planned delivery days)
However, the Delivery Creation Date is usually updated with 'todays' date.  It's as though the planned delivery days on the material master or PIR is being interpreted as a transit time between the plants.
    This has 2 undesirable effects:
    1.  The supplying plant has no notice, requirement date is NOW
    2.  Delivery creation batch jobs create deliveries which aren't really due yet
I really need the Delivery creation date to be a true material availability date  ie the date the goods are required to be available in the supplying plant.  For us this would be 3 days (transit time between plants) before the delivery date.
    Any help greatly appreciated.
    Regards
    Guy

    Guy,
    true lead time.
is a bit ambiguous.  The system does exactly what you tell it to do.  'True Lead time" is not defined in SAP.  What do you mean by this term?  Are you talking about "Total replenishment lead time" in the material master?
Anyhow, you are telling me you want the delivery creation date to be "three days prior to Delivery date".  No problem, set PDT to 3 days.  So, if you today created an STO with a delivery date of July 30, and the PDT was 3 days, the delivery creation date would be July 27.  If you also want cushion, then today convert the STPRs with a delivery date of July 30.  Don't wait until July 27 to convert these PRs.
How are you creating STOs today?  You mentioned delivery dates being populated by the system.  How? What transaction/what program?  If your current process is to automatically convert all existing STPRs into STOs, then you probably need to consider adding some time to Purchase Req processing time.  OMEW in config.
