FCPX 10.1 won't see .m2ts files

I read that FCPX now supports import of .mts/.m2ts files. I use a SONY Z7 recording to the CF card. But in FCPX 10.1, the files are still grayed out in the import window. Any ideas please?

QT 7 wont open them, it just reports "not a video file".
MPEG Streamclip is happy to deal with them, so I have opened 1 in that and then opened a "show stream info" window for you - here is the grab of that:
you can see in the right-hand window that these are .m2t files, and MPEG Streamclip confirms this.
Here is a grab of the "Import Media" window from FCPX 10.1:
FCP 7 is happy to read these and just converts them to HDV spec. MOVs.

Premiere CC 2014 won't recognise .m2ts files from project editied in CS5.5

Hi,
I'm trying to open a project I edited in Premiere CS5.5, but CC 2014 tells me .m2ts files aren't a 'supported compression type'.
They worked in CS5.5, why not now? All are Dolby rather than LCPM audio, shot with a Sony NX70 camera or an FS100.
Can you give me any alternative import workflow (that doesn't involve transcoding everything, and rebuilding clip by clip, preferably:-)! )

Well.... sort of... I was having a problem with old projects not recognising the .m2TS or .MTS files, and the same with importing to new projects. It seems to have disappeared with the last update, but now I have an issue with these files and with .MP4 files from my Canon XA20 either not dropping audio onto the timeline, or dropping audio but not the vision track. The workaround is to right click on the file and change the audio properties to 'adaptive'. Sometimes I have to set the interpret video setting to interlaced, upper field dominant, as premiere is occasionally seeing the files as progressive... and I only ever shoot interlaced. Weirdness.
Once I do this, the files happily insert on the timeline.

Mac won't see some files/folders on external hard drive that i know are there, pc sees them fine..

I have a external drive full of music, my mac won't see all of it , its like some files are hidden... I have formatted the drive to exFAT and copied folders I knew were missing and they won't read that way either... I have as well renamed the folder to something different, but the Mac still will not see them, but my PC sees them fine... anyone??

HT1364 I've done the steps here but when I reopen Itunes it won't see the files.

Exactly what the title says. I load up itunes after following all the instructions, it doesn't say it's missing files, it doesn't say it can't locate the library. It opens like usual but shows no files under Music or Books or any other catagories. I check Prefrences/Advanced/ and make sure it's pointed to the new library location. It is. Keep files organized is checked. Consolidate is checked. When I navigate with windows explorer to the new library it shows all the files there just like it did in the old location. So what gives?
Here's what I've done to try to fix it. RecycleBin/ Hit restore on the deleted Itunes library. It goes back to where it was. Load up itunes and tell it to look at original library. Still the same problem. itunes won't show any of the files even though it's pointed to the correct location.

If they are both the same size then my guess is they are both empty. No Previous iTunes Libraries folder from the last time you updated iTunes? Normally I'd expect to see files of the form iTunes Library yyyy-mm-dd.itl one of which might have served as a useful starting point.
What you should have done if you wanted your library on a different drive was move the entire iTunes folder as a unit to the root of the other drive, and then shift-start-iTunes, choose library. I can't tell what you've done, but if you use the shift-start-iTunes technique to open each of those libraries and neither contain your media & playlists, and you can find no other .itl files then I guess you'll just have to start over. Are there any .tmp files in the iTunes folder? If so see this post.
If nothing else works see Recover your iTunes library from your iPod or iOS device.

Phone won't see media files after clearing the data for SomcPhotoAnalyzer.apk

Hello,My sister accidentally cleared the data for the PhotoAnalyzerService app (com.sonymobile.photoanalyzer 5.5.A.0.10) in the app manager on her Z2. That caused the Album app to disappear from the app drawr. Since then, she updated Album (com.sonyericsson.album) from the Play Store, and that caused the Album icon to reappear in the app drawr. However, something is wrong with how media is handled by the phone now: Album now behaves like this:In Home: all photos inside the DCIM folder, BUT photos that were downloaded to the phone are missin.In Camera: only camera photos taken after the data was cleared.In Folders: shows nothing.When trying to edit an older camera photo it says "no application available."Additionally, all ringtones were rest to default, and selecting new ones is now impossible, either with Sound Picker or with ES File Explorer. Restarting the phone many times didn't help. The phone is running android 4.4.2 (Build 17.1.2.A.0.314). Any advice? Will a factory reset help? Anything other than a factory reset? (she won't be happy to lose everything on the phone...) Edit: to be clear, the files that are missing from Album are still on the phone, and can be viewed with ES File Explorer, for example.

You could try an app preferences reset Settings tap the 3 dots or options icon then Reset app preferences and then reboot and test - As for apps missing then try Settings then Apps then swipe to disabled to see if the app in question is there however if files are missing it could be that all data for that app was erased at the same time

MacBook Pro won't see jpg files while browsing Samsung phone via bluetooth

I have been searching the forums for at least an hour or two and cannot find an answer. I have a Samsung SGH -A767, and when I "Browse Device" I cannot see the jpgs on my phone. Both are turned on and discoverable, and connect fine. I can send files from my Macbook to my phone with no problem, I can send individual files from my phone to my macbook with no problem when sent using the phone's controls. When I "browse" my phone's file folders, however, I can see the folders and the audio files within, but I cannot see the hundreds of .jpg's I have taken with my phone. I DO see, however, only three jpgs -- the three .jpg's that I have sent over from the macbook.
Please help! I take a lot of pics with my phone and I dont want to have to send each file over individually one by one, that will take hours!

Photomerge won't "see" my files

PS CS4 - I made a panorama with five 16bit RAW files. Perfect. Ever since neither PS nor Bridge
will see my selected files. Bridge says "PS needs at least 2 files selected." I have five selected.
When I try photomerge in PS it says "tmp00000001". Anyone have a suggestion? I already
trashed preferences and restarted my Mac OS 10.6. Thanks!

Have you tried opening Photomerge from within Photoshop (through the Automate menu), then adding the files to the Photomerge list there?
Edit: Another old question. I'm suspecting a spammer regurgitated these then had his advertisement deleted.

IMac won't see DVD Files

When I insert a DVD with data files on it, my iMac mounts it as an "Untitled DVD"
When I insert the same DVD into my Macbook Pro it shows up properly named and shows all the files that are on it.
How do I get the iMac to recognize the DVD as viable DVD with files on it?

You need to figure out if the disk was finalized. OS X does not support multi-session DVDs. If it is not finalized, it sees it as a blank disk.
I had not considered bratman's observation on where it was created, but if created on a Macbook, it should have been finalized.
If it was finalized, then you have a problem we may be able to solve.

M2t files won't preview in Bridge 4.0.1.26

I'm using Bridge that came with After Effects CS5. Thumbnails for m2t files appear normally but do not play in the preview. I can drag and drop a m2t file into AE and they work just fine so I must have the proper codecs. Is there something I'm missing here or is Bridge just behind the curve when it comes to m2t files? I also note that Mocha for AE won't touch m2t files either which is a drag...but that's a question for another forum.

I am having the same problem with HDV, MPEG files and M4V files. AVI's, Quicktime, MPEG-1 files preview and have thumbnails.
Seems to be a connection between Bridge and Windows Media Player.

no you should transcode those files into an format that os suitable for editing. Like proRez. Although you might need some Flip4Mac or perian or something to do the conversion.

i got a backup for the files but even if they are on the mmc, when camera is connected fcpx doesn't see them. if i try to import a new shoot it works!!

Thx a lot Salty. As you suggest I found other staff on support pages. I deleted AVCHD structure and kept only .mts... Now what I need to do is to convert those files with handbrake or similar tool in .mp4 or .mov to make them digest to FCPX.

PP CS4 won't capture HDV or import m2t files

MacbookPro, OSX 10.6.4
I haven't done a video project for a couple of months, and everything was working then.
But now, I can't import HDV footage captured by OnLocation (.m2t) ("format not supported"), or capture it directly from my video camera (Sony HVR-A1U). There are also no sequence presets for HDV video.
When I try capturing from the camera, my MacbookPro's webcam shows in the previewer, although the controls in the capture window do control the camera (play, stop, rewind etc.). If I go into the capture Settings, no firewire sources are shown.
I can capture HDV from the camera using iMovie (to Quicktime format). In some respects, that is better, since it does HDV scene detection (unlike PP CS4), saving me a little work. But iMovie won't import m2t either so I'll have to find some other way to convert if for use by PP.
I tried reinstalling PP from disks but to no effect. Before I try full unininstall and reinstall , I thought I'd check here to see if anyone has ideas about what is going on with PP.

I don't know if this applys to Mac or not, but I have seen messages saying that PPro will, for some unknown reason, sometimes revert to demo status... which only supports SD video, and nothing that requires any flavor of MPEG

FCPX m2t files

Does FCPX support m2t files without transcoding?

I'll be interested to know the answer to this. But I can tell you that on cameras that produce mts files, they get re-wrapped and imported as 'avc1' .mov files. Looks like the re-wrapping is pretty quick, and doesn't add much to the file size. If you click on the checkbox "optimize media" whem you import, then they will get transcoded as ProRes files and they will be about 10x the size.
So, I'm assuming m2t files will result in a similar scenario, but don't know for sure.
M2t files are MPEG-2 encodes, right? I'd be interested in hearing what they import as.
