Feature Request: Consistently Intelligent Font Lists across all CS Program

Current Problems/Inconsistencies in Font Lists + Suggested Solutions:
NUMBER OF FONTS SIMULTANEOUSLY DISPLAYED:
Premiere Pro (PP): 16 (too few!)
AE: 19 (too few!)
Photoshop: 40 (adequate)
Illustrator: auto-maximizing (displays as many fonts as screen supports, 50 on a 1920x1080 monitor)
*SOLUTION: Make all font lists auto-maximizing like Illustrator!
FONT PREVIEWS:
PP: Yes (6 user-defined characters previewed next to font names)
AE: No previews
Photoshop: Yes ('Sample' displayed in each font, but too small for comfortable viewing)
Illustrator: Yes (Each font name is displayed in actual font, but this makes it inconvenient to know the name of 'Dingbat' fonts.)
*SOLUTION: Make all font lists display font names in left column, with 'Sample' displayed in the actual fonts to the right. When users select any text, replace 'Sample' with the first 1-30 selected characters for instant previewing in all available fonts (e.g. selecting the '&' character would display '&' in all available fonts for instant comparison). Also make font lists resizable with a horizontal zoom bar at top of list to ensure comfortable viewing for everyone.
SCROLL BAR:
PP & AE: Yes
Photoshop: Yes (perfect size and color scheme for best visibility)
Illustrator: No (current scrolling method is frustratingly slow!)
*SOLUTION: Add a Photoshop style scroll bar to each font list for best visibility/usability.
FONT SELECTING WITH ARROW KEYS:
PP & AE: Yes, by arrow-keying up/down in both the font fields and font lists
Photoshop & Illustrator: Only from the font fields. Highlighting fonts with the arrow keys in the font lists doesn't result in font visualizing.
*SOLUTION: Allow PREVIEWING of fonts by arrow-keying up/down in font fields and font lists in all CS programs. I emphasize 'previewing' instead of 'selecting', since previewing fonts avoids the problem of unnecessary undos being created for each font visualized with the arrow keys. (Note: Arrow-scrolling through the font field in Photoshop's Options bar works as I suggest, by 'previewing' each font without creating unnecessary undos. Unfortunately, arrow-scrolling through the font field in Photoshop's Character panel does create useless "Set Character Style" History states for every visualized font. This kind of inconsistency even within a single program is crazy!)
CONCLUSION:
CS programs are all part of the same family, and should therefore behave as such with consistently intelligent tools. This includes font lists with a consistently intelligent design.
Please comment and share! Let's get these glaring font list inconsistencies finally fixed!

If you want to do this correctly you need to file a request for each feature.
Ripple Sequence and Chapter Markers is already implemented. Sequence markers are the same as chapter markers, yes? (Ripple Sequence Markers, select Marker > Ripple Sequence Markers.)

Some feature you posted are great. How about a eyedropper tool for the Color Matte?
I find the Magnet for Snap quite visible. There is also this feature in the Pref to make the playhead snap.

Feature request Camera Shot--Shot listing

Hi Guys.
Not sure what is the best way to explain this but I'll give it a shot.
When you are shot listing, Story gives each new shot a number, which is great, but there are times when you have to disable the numbering check box because you want to manually number the shot. Lets say you have a steadicam shot and you want to be specific about where the camera is in relation to certain lines in the script, you will start the first beat of the shot as shot 10 and each time you enter new camera information, but want to keep that as shot 10 because it's one continuous shot, so you disable the numbering and you writing in, "shot 10 cont'd for all the beats you want."
Now what happens if later on you added a shot above shot 10? Story turns shot 10 into shot 11 in the number sequence, which is great, but all the beats you manually put in have the incorrect numbering. You will have shot 11, then below it, shot 10 cont'd for all the beats of that steadicam shot.
So what I'm proposing is that in the Camera Shot function, where the check box is to disable the automatic number assignment if you can add a cont'd check box, so you can tell the program remember that this shot is a continuation of shot 10, so even if I add a shot before shot 10, the program will able to track that change and change the 10 cont'd to 11 cont'd as too.
Does that make sense??

This makes sense and we will be augmenting this feature to support different kinds of shots in the coming months. We'll surely pick this up as well.

Feature Request: Project Manager Trim Compatibility with all formats please!

It's 2013, Premiere Pro CC is out, and is more "Final Cut Pro" than ever (thanks Adobe), but there are still some basic things that need to be fixed. This is a DOOZY!...
With DSLR media being used pretty much everywhere, the inability to created trimmed projects using Project Manager for H.264 clips (and GoPro clips, and more!) is simply insane. Seriously?

Actually, Kevin works right across the San Francisco Bay from where I live. So yes, he is here in the USA.
You will occasionally get some answers around here from people with Indian names, but we are happy to have them on the forums.
The conversation about how to deal with the various codecs has been going on for some time, and the more people who request the feature, the more likely they will get it done. I don't like to say that the squeeky wheel gets the grease, but pretty much? It does!
I know they are thinking about it because of some of the comments I have seen and emails I have received. It appears to be fairly complicated, but personally, I think it is well worth the effort.
I would like to be able to ingest subclips from Prelude without transcoding (I don't use Prelude because it is useless to me without this feature). Once ingested, if I only use part of a clip, I want it trimmed in the Project Manager to just the footage I might need in the future if I have to make minor adjustments. And yes, that includes handles. So if handles solve part of the problem, that's fine.

How to make change in Issue list across all project sites?

Hi,
We all have issue list in our project sites. We need to add some values to some of the columns in that issue list. The requirement is we need these changes to reflect in all the new sites. Also how to make these changes reflect in current existing sites.
Can anybody suggest a way to achieve this. One thing that i am aware of is creating a new project site template and associating it with EPT but that still not solves the issue for preexisting sites.
Please help asap.

If you have already created some sites. You would need to apply these changes either Programetically (Powershell or C#) or Manually.
However, you can take the following approach to avoid this problem in future. (i.e. Your "future" changes will appear in existing sites too). I am writing the procedure breifly but let me know if you need more details on this
1) Create a content type (e.g. "Project issues" at PWA level)
2) Associate this content type with the Issues List in your site template as well any existing project sites. Make it a default content type for Issue lists. save your site template
3) Create all your custom columns in this new Content type (changing OOB issue columns can break your reporting)
4) Your changes to content type should reflect in future sites as well as existing sites (whereever the content type was appiled)

Makes no sense to me.
I like to pick things, grab the simple SQL and turn it into what I really wanted.
Can't do that with lack of Modify.

Feature Request: Find/Replace fonts

This topic seems to be repeated, abeit in different ways, throughout the forums. I've had my own version of this and am saddened that the only solution is to mess with the APXL file (XML?). I have gone through the entire Keynote file, no luck. But, I do not wish to mess with the APXL file (XML?). Why can't there just be a feature added to do this?? Adobe has this, why not Apple?

I am referring to the command-F (inline Find) feature, but requesting that it search within both the HTML content on the page and within the form field contents of any forms on a page. So, if there is a form embedded on the page, it would be nice if command-F has the ability to include that text within the search. Currently, Safari only searches the HTML content of the page and does not search text within form fields on the page.
Sorry if I'm not describing the functionality well. Does this explanation make more sense?

Feature request -- change tooltip font size

The tooltip font size is rather small for those of us needing reading glasses or with limited vision. At the very least the tooltip font size should be changeable under the "Accessability" options. Anyone know a way to work around this? External script? Plug-in?

Increase default font size across all applications?

I just got a new Macbook with a 15.4 inch 1400x900 screen resolution, and I am finding that the text on screen is really tiny in most cases (on the Apple menu it is fine).
Even some buttons are tiny.
Is there any way to increase the text size systemwide? Since the GUI is PDF based, it ought to scale well, right?
I don't want to lower the resolution, because I naturally want to keep the sharpness.

There's no way of doing this through the Mac OS X GUI itself. However, the freeware application TinkerTool permits you to "set nine categories of default fonts used in Cocoa applications." This permits you to change the font used and its size.
This facility employs hidden settings within Mac OS X, so it's a bit of a hack and should be used with caution and at your own risk.
The graphical elements of the GUI, such as the buttons you cite, cannot be changed other than by lowering the resolution.
For the visually impaired, Mac OS X offers a Zoom option in System Preferences > Universal Access > Seeing. This permits one to magnify a portion of the screen to the full width of the screen.

Self imposing modifier keys across all CS5 programs

So, I started having this strange problem yesterday, and am at a loss. Started out in Illustrator. Basically, whenever I try to move an object with either selection tool, it would duplicate the object as though the alt/option key was being pressed. SInce this only happened in CS5, I suspected the key wasn't stuck, and OSX's keyboard viewer confirms this.
I've since tried deleting all the preferences I could find, reinstalling, and doing both together. No luck.
Now more recently, it's acted as though it was the shift key being pressed, and keeps switching back and forth on which one it thinks is being pressed. The problem is sporadic as well. If I restart the computer, it will vanish temporarily, but inevitably come back.
I'm stumped. Please help!

If your student is truly disabled to the sense that she can not be taught the morality of changing other people's devices without their consent, and you have to have all the student iPads publically available to her, then the best solution is to lock the entire iPad from her - enable a Passcode lock in settings so that she needs the password to use the iPads.

Database connection not working across all Adobe programs

I have a PDF form connected to an Access database via ODBC. On the form, I created a button that, when clicked, takes the data in the PDF and adds it to the database. The scripts for that action and the connection was established in LiveCycle Designer. I opened the PDF in Acrobat Pro and enabled Usage Rights for Reader (overwriting the file in the process). Here's what I find odd. The button works fine in Acrobat Pro, but when I open the PDF in Reader and try the button, it gives me an error saying that the accessor 'xfa.sourceSet.DataConnection.open();' is unknown. Why on earth would Adobe recognize the connection in Acrobat but not in Reader? That doesn't make sense to me, especially since I did enable the usage rights.

I do not see where this permission is given in the enablement of Acrobat Professional Forms. What I see is the following:
- Save form data
- Commenting and drawing mark-up tools
- Sign an existing signature field
- Digitally sign the documen anywher on the page (only supported in Adobe Reader 8.0)
I do not see connect to a database anywhere.

I am hoping someone at Apple reads this! I have a program I use called Logos 4, and it works with both a Mac (or yuck a PC) on the PC side they have the ability to do this http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wZMW1Mw3ZgI in PowerPoint. No Auto-Saving right in the middle of an operation or playback, please. Make it wait for a few seconds of inactivity before it kicks in. No auto-saves when no changes have been made; long periods of inactivity.
Please make all Adobe apps NOT force the computer system to switch to the app that's launching or saving after that operation is compete. It's VERY ANNOYING to be typing an email and have Adobe switch apps for me when it decides it's ready. VERY ANNOYING.
Please after using Clip > Scale to Sequence, DO NOT have the new Scale factor in the Motion tab change the clip's scale to 100%. That's misleading, confusing and I see no good reason for that number to change. If I'm using a HD clip in an SD Sequence, I want to know exactly how much more I can scale it up before it exceeds the actual scale of 100%. So, rather than it showing me 100%, it should show 40%, or whatever the real scale factor is.
Provide a way to save TRACK AUDIO FX settings. I work in a native Sequence to edit, and copy and paste it into an AJA sequence for color correction. ALL my TRACK BASED AUDIO needs to carry over into the new sequence. Without a way to save my settings, I have to manually recreate them by jumping back and forth between the old and new sequence. Time-killer.
Change the paste behavior into a new Sequence to exactly match the track configuration from the "parent" (copy from) sequence.
Have the Program monitor remember the Zoom level for each Sequence; don't have Zoom scale set universally by the project. When switching between Sequences of different size, we have to reset the Zoom level each time (and with the mouse, too; not a keyboard shortcut). Time waster.
Consistent Mouse Wheel behavior across all apps in CS, please. Ae, Au, and Pr have different scroll wheel behaviors.

Indeed. The Auto-Save function is very much useless as means of backwards recovery. Often all you get is 5 projects which are just like your current project so if something goes wrong (as it often does with this crash magnet of a software) - good luck. Retarded and yes, very annoying when it kicks in.

Adobe seems infatuated with tiny controls and off the cuff UI behavior. This has been going on for ages and I want to strangle the person(s) who are responsible for that. One needs to fevereshly hunt for the right pixel to click on to get the context menu or action desired; Mouse clicks or wheel works in some windows w/o focus and doesn't in others; They seem to have missed the obvious that when you press ALT in Windows it switches over to the app menu (nothing new either, been like that forever) so expanding/contracting the timeline with Alt+Wheel always results in lost focus and required extra clicks/operations at best, doing something undesireable at worst; Dragging effect into timeline clip leaves focus in Effects panel. WTF!?; Can't begin to count how many times I've mangled my project because when selecting items the UI for some reason goes into renaming mode for example.
In PS I can focus into a value and adjust it with the mouse wheel: good. In Premiere you need to drag an imaginary slider or just outright type the value in. Good luck adjusting effect or any other values by a tick (or two even) with the mouse.
I would also welcome ability to re-shuffle audio tracks on timeline either with drag or move up/down
Another thing is (Context) Menu management. Why can we do it in PS but not Premiere, mind boggling. Why do I always have to see 20 million items many of which I have no need for. All that is good for is constantly searching for the right item on the menu. Although I use PS CS4 so that may have changed there too now.
Is it really so hard to provide content based custom actions? I don't have Audition, how about being able to create a custom menu item whereby I can edit my asset item using MY program?
Why is the option to for example Edit in Photoshop, displayed (albeit grayed out) when that item cannot possibly be edited in PS and Premiere knows it? And that goes for other items as well. I'd love to see things and only things relevant to my work environment and its state. I don't need to see full lists of everything every time. I don't care for exporting to Apple formats, why can't I hide those presets so my drop-down menu is manageable? I don't care if it takes me 2 weeks to set the UI up according to my needs, but it should be possible.
And one more. "Clear" means just empty everything in a container. It is highly unintuitive to call action "Clear" when in effect it removes selected item(s). Here's a tip: "Remove" has been used for that by everyone else and for good reason, too.

I searched and did not see a similar thread.
I have a few requests that should be standard across all Firewalls, or what is the point.
IP address automatic blocking - Port scanning - We would like to set a threashold (number of ports) for a port scan then automatically block the scanning ip address. No one should be scanning my ports
Ip address block for x# failed remote login attempts. With the ability to unblock (for legitimate failed logins)
Port blocking by country. 99% of US companies do not need or want foreign trade or companies. Please create filter rules by countries/IPs and allow us to turn them on/off by country. This database is kept by several different orginizations.
Allow block proxy servers
Syslog program. Just give us a simple syslog program for all linksys Equipment. and/or put a link in the help section of the gui for one that works.
Router status on the login page. If internet is up or down without having to log in.
Default IP range is from x.x.x.2 - x.x.x.254. It is not this range by default and fixed/static Address in the 200 range down show up and won't connect. Many server are in the 200 range to prevent ip collision.
Use lowest ip addresss first. Even after setting the IP address to x.x.x.2 the DHCP attempts to connect new computer to .100 and up
Log port scanning- Rule: ping/attempted connection to more than one port. [ 3 ]> Ports= Port scanning
Do not respond to Ping! [x] Most firewall and securities have enabled this to prevent attempted hacks.
Load balancing and Traffic shaping. Show us a log by ip address of bandwidth used. Allow us to restrict bandwidth by Percentage and/or options to balance the equally.
Notification by email of bandwidth overload. Set bandwidth peak and duration. This helps determine of someone's computer is bulk mailing is acting as a server.
Hacked! Email notification of the network appears breached. This is defined by external IP connection time to a local computer. User sets connection length.
This port scanning is critical. We all know the Chineese are scanning our ports (I see it every day) and no one seems to be doing anything about it. This is the first step.

I appreciate your effort in listing the feature request for LRT214. The Linksys engineering team might be able to add those feature.
There maybe few features that the LRT214 is not capable of supporting, but it is a very helpful router for VPN purposes.
Router feature depends on its main purpose in a network, either for simple use in SOHO or Home use or to the more advanced and sophisticated networks for smal-medium or enterprise networks. If you will compare an ordinary home router with a small business type of router, they will have big difference already(mostly they differ with VPN capability and VLAN capability). And if we compare Enterprise type of router, then all features that you want from hardware to software is provided.
For the LRT214, it is designed for small-medium business with class C hardware(max of 253 ip addresses only).
I can only comment on the things that I know:
>Its default number of IP is 50 but you can max it out to 253 ip addresses.>it might be for bandwidth management.
>It has default syslog feature to check errors. But if you want an external syslog feature, then you need to install any 3rd party syslog servers> so that the error and notification will still be captur by your computer even if the router lost all connectivity.
>Load balancing is a feature for the Dual WAN only. Its purpose is to divide the total load and pass it to both WAN so that the total throughput will be much faster. Technically adding the two bandwidth of the two ISPs.
That's all I can comment to what I know.
