FF doesn't open a new window , and doesn't open at all when I close it and try to open it again.

Initially when I start my PC Windows 7 Ultimate , FF opens fine , but it doesn't open a new window when I click on the option "Open a new Window " in the taskbar .When I right-click a tab and select the option "Move to a new Window" then too it doesn't work. Next when I close FF and and try to reopen it , it doesn't open at all.I have FF v34.0.5.

Gnome-shell issue. You can disable desktop management as a temporary fix, but the next gnome-shell update will fix the problem.

  • Firefox opens a new window every time I click a link. I reset FF and it did not fix the problem.

    When I click on any link, the browser opens a new window. I have searched the browser options to fix this and have not found a place to select a different option. I have reset Firefox and checked all of my plugins and have not found anything that seem to be related to my problem. Sometimes, Firefox will work normally for the first few minutes of use and then start opening a window for everything.
    By normally, I mean that I click a link and it opens the link in the same tab that I'm browsing. Some links will open in a new tab, depending on the type of link. Mostly, they open in new windows no matter what.

    Boot the computer in Windows Safe mode with network support (press F8 on the boot screen) as a test to see if that helps.

  • When I open a new window, it doesn't attach itself to the bottom toolbar? I'm using XP Pro and Firefox 6.0.2.

    It's explained pretty well in my initial question. Not sure what else you would need in the way of details.
    I will say it's been going on for a month or so, and it happens every time I start Firefox, and every time I open a new window.

    Thank you for taking the time to leave an answer for me, Poochie1. I really appreciate your attempt at helping me.
    Unfortunately, as smart as I thought I was when I asked the question, I apparently wasn't that smart, because I didn't explain my problem so you'd know what the heck I was talking about.
    I think it's because I'm probably not using the correct terminology. I'll try again.
    When I open a new window, it just kind of floats on the screen. Before this new update, I could open a window and it was lined up with the start taskbar located at the bottom of the screen. Sometimes the new window will cover up the taskbar partially, and sometimes completely. I have to move it up and align it with the taskbar. Then, when I open another new window, I have to line that one up with the window underneath it.
    I hope that description is better than my first one, and I hope you can make some sense out of it, Poochi (and anyone else who happens by here).
    Again, thank you for your help.

  • When I close Firefox then try to open it again, it informs me it is already running and continues to do so regardless of how many times I restart the computer.

    I bought a new computer. I installed Firefox 7.0 then updated to 8.0. When I was finished with Firefox, I closed it. Later when I attempted to open it I was greeted with the message Firefox is already running. It suggested I restart the computer. I did so and continued to receive the same message. Surely, shutting the computer off should close Firefox. I have to use Internet Explorer to contact you.

    Sounds like Firefox is "hanging at exit". That problem is frequently caused by an Extension or a Plugin. Read all of the following articles.<br /><br />

  • How can I force Firefox to open a new window (tab) a certain size. I need a smaller box but it always opens full screen.

    I get tired of having to click on the upper right box every time I need the smaller window, which is VERY frequently. I teach college online and need to see only a portion of the large screen as the rest may distract me while grading. This COULD prove unfair to my students.

    Don't know if this is the answer you want, but it gives you an idea of what you can do.
    * Using the window.open method<br>http://www.javascript-coder.com/window-popup/javascript-window-open.phtml
    You can resize an existing window with a bookmarklet, but you would have to be able to initiate the bookmarklet from the window.
    * javascript:self.resizeTo(642,364);self.moveTo(0,0);
    * http://dmcritchie.mvps.org/firefox/kws.htm look for "resize -" in the k.html file listed.

  • Firefox not Mac OSX Spaces friendly - There is no right click option to open a new window in the curent space.

    Other browsers (Safari and Chrome) allow you to open a new window in the current space by right clicking the dock icon and choosing 'new window'. Firefox does not have this option in the right click. You must go to the other space that already has firefox open, create a new window there, and then drag it to the desired space. Please add the ability to launch a new window in the current space from the dock icon right click menu.

    I have gone to the link that you supplied . In the task manager-- ending the entry for Firefox.exec did not resolve the problem.
    I located my profile in the start menu In the run tab And entered %APPDATA%\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\as instructed.
    I received a cannot delete parent file is corrupted or unreadable. I then ran the Chkdsk (check disk )and tried the process again with no improvement . I have uninstalled Firefox, and redownloaded It. Still no improvement. I want my Firefox WHAAAAAAA

  • URL iview opening in new window problem

    Hi All,
    I am using customized top level navigation (developed using byEPCM method).
    I  created URL iview and pointed "http://www.google.com" . (Launch in New Window = Displaly in sepearte window)  .I have assigned this  iview to a role as delta link. When naigating this iview, it is opening in new window. But it is showing "Permission Denied script error". And also, it is not displaying url as "http://www.google.com" .
    If I navigate via standard top level navigation, it is working fine. Please help to solve this problem.
    Thanks,
    Venkatesh R

    Hi,
    Check authentication related properties of iView. Make sure all of them are set to lowest level or none

  • Opening a new Window/Application without losing control of source Screen

    Hi,
    I  am displaying two tables with some columns. Some one of the columns have an hyperlink which would open a new window.
    Now in my case reqirement is that, user should be able to open multipme window and should be able to modify or proces some data on source screen( where two table are displayed).
    But when I open a new window by pop up, i am loosing the control of the source screen.
    How can i solve this issue?
    Do I need to call saprate application and then probably I will not loose the control?
    Thanks
    PG

    Hi Thomas,
    Thanks for the reply.
    So let's say in my case,
    Step 1:  I have called a new application and made some changes to som data.
    Step 2:  Then I press Save button in new window or application to save the chages.
    Step 3:  After pressing Save button, the second application get's closed and on the calling application one row will be
                   appended into the table and will be reflected on calling application.
    To perform step 3, I need to communicate with calling application. Or in other word , I have to call back the source application .
    So instead of communicating, I think I can just call back the source application again and It will be displayed with updated data! ( The only case is, it will execute or refresh the whole application instead of one table, which would slow down the performance)
    Or do you think, in this case something else could be done to update table on source application?
    Regards
    PG

  • Event triggered by iView Opening in New Window

    Hi Portal Developers,
    I'm trying to write an iView will exist as an invisible iView on the default framework page and listen for the event of an iView opening a new window. However, I can't find an event that distinguishes between an iView opening in a new window or an iView opening in the existing content area.
    For example, as a test to capture the event that is occurring, I have the following block of javascript that displays a message when a user navigates around in the Portal using some different Portal events.
    <script language ="JavaScript">
    EPCM.subscribeEvent("urn:com.sapportals:navigation", "*", onNewWindow);
    EPCM.subscribeEvent "urn:com.sapportals.portal:browser", "*", onNewWindow);
    function onNewWindow( eventObj) {
    "Got an Event from: " + eventObj.eventName);}
    </script>
    All this returns when a I click on an iView that opens in a new window is "Navigate", which is no different from when an iView is clicked that does not open in a new window. I've looked through the SAP-delivered javascript files and I've also done an HTTP Trace hoping to find exactly what is happening when an iView is launched in a new window.
    A trace I ran indicates that the js13_spcf.js file is called when an iView is launched in a new window. In this file, I see that there is a "mode" parameter that is passed to the "Navigate" event that I'm subscribing too. For the Open in New Window option, this seems to be set to a value of 2, which makes sense. Is there anyway I can read this "Mode" value of the event that is raised as I subscribe to the event from my iView? Any other suggestions are welcome as well!
    Thanks!
    Matt

    Hi Matt,
    For an iView opening in a new window to communicate with an iView on the default framework, a "bridge" needs to exist.
    That's where EPCMPROXY from epcfproxy.js comes into play.
    In the iView that is opening up in a new window, you can raise an event such as,
    var win_id = EPCMPROXY.getUniqueWindowId();
    EPCMPROXY.raiseEvent("urn:com.sapportals.portal:browser", "", "", win_id);
    Hope it helps,
    - Teecheu

  • I try to launch firefox get the following message "firefox is already running, but is not resonding. to open a new window, you must first close the existing firefox process, or restart your system" firefox is not running and restart doesn't work

    when I launch firefox get the following message "firefox is already running, but is not resonding. to open a new window, you must first close the existing firefox process, or restart your system" firefox not running and a restart doesn't solve the problem

    Download a fresh Firefox copy and save the file to the desktop.
    *Firefox 12.0.x: http://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/all.html
    Uninstall your current Firefox version, if possible.
    *Do NOT remove personal data when you uninstall your current Firefox version, because all profile folders will be removed and you will also lose your personal data like bookmarks and passwords from profiles of other Firefox versions.
    Remove the Firefox program folder before installing that newly downloaded copy of the Firefox installer.
    *It is important to delete the Firefox program folder to remove all the files and make sure that there are no problems with files that were leftover after uninstalling.
    *http://kb.mozillazine.org/Uninstalling_Firefox
    Your bookmarks and other profile data are stored elsewhere in the Firefox Profile Folder and won't be affected by a reinstall, but make sure that you do not select to remove personal data if you uninstall Firefox.

  • Doesn't start when starting as administrator. Error Firefox is already running, but is not responding. To open a new window, you must first close the existing Firefox process, or restart your system.

    Update firefox, it asked me to update flash, I tried to update flash but it said I had to close firefox. A box came up and said the Flash install would continue when I closed firefox. I closed all firefox windows and no update of flash occurred. I tried relaunching firefox but got the "Doesn't start when starting as administrator. Error Firefox is already running, but is not responding. To open a new window, you must first close the existing Firefox process, or restart your system." message. I rebooted the system, no improvement. I tried to run firefox as administrator and got the same message. Either I find a fix or I won't be able to use firefox and will have to go back to ie.

  • When opening a second window, homepage doesn't open and can't access any other site, stays a blank white screen.

    After updating to Firefox 6, every time I open a second window, all I get is a blank, white page. My homepage doesn't open, either, even when I hit the home button. I have to manually type in my homepage address, and then, it's the only address that will show in the address bar, even after I leave the page or open any other tabs. The same thing happens when I open new tabs in the second window. Also, the back and forward arrows, stop, and refresh buttons do not work in the second window. None of the short-cut keys on the keyboard will work with in the second window, either. Most of the time, any page that I go to, in the second window, continues to load, never fully loading.
    I even went back to Firefox 5 to see if that would solve the problem, but it didn't. I still have the same issues.
    Everything appears to be working fine in the first window.
    How can I clear all this up?
    EDIT: I waited a few days and reinstalled Firefox 6.0 and everything seems to be working okay.

    There's a good chance this is related to a bug that kicks in when you do not have Flash running in any tab and you open a new window to a page that does use Flash. The details are in this recent thread: [https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/955659 Opening New Windows and Shockwave Flash].
    I don't know whether opening a Flash site in a private window makes this problem occur more frequently. Maybe it does because the new window is more isolated from the previous one???

  • I can't open a new window in Firefox 4 on my mac. Was working great. I installed new mac firmware and restarted, probably without closing Firefox properly. Now window won't open.

    Hi:
    As noted above, Firefox won't open a new window. I restarted machine without closing Firefox. Now, I get the Firefox menu bar but it won't open a window. I'm using mac, with OS X 10.6

    Firefox doesn't install new versions of plugins, but Flash may update itself automatically.<br />
    You are still one version behind on Flash, current is Flash 10.1 r85<br />
    If the Flash player didn't update properly then you need to download the full version and run the installer as Administrator (right-click: Run as ...)
    Flash Global Notifications Settings Panel:<br />
    *http://www.macromedia.com/support/documentation/en/flashplayer/help/settings_manager05.html
    You are more versions behind on Java updates with having Java 6 U11, current is 6 U22.

    Update the [[Java]] plugin to the latest version.
