File Adapter - Archived file name issue

Hello all.
I am using an 11g composite application to read from the file system and move/archive the files to a "Backup" subdirectory. Everything works well, but the archived file name has the original filename plus an extra long guid. E.g.
File_1.DAT_156dsfsdgw67rqwedb1c6b54d6fh7yerfa16wewet168erw)-dsfsdg
Does anyone know how I can control the archiving feature of the file read adapter? I would love for it to just move the file to the Backup folder and keep the original filename.
I look forward to a response.
Thank you.
Nick G.

Thank you Sahil. I will look into it and test. I will post my results.

  • File Adapter Archive File Name Pattern

    Hi All,
    Thanks in advance for your answers.
    Here is my question.
    I have BPEL process that reads a file, process it and archives it.
    The process is working fine, but the archived file has timestamp attached to the file extension. since my file already has timestamp in its name, is there any way that we can configure file adapter not to add that timestamp to archived file?.
    Thanks
    Praveen

    The timestamp added to the archive filename is the time that the file was processed by bpel. i think this is good information that you can keep just in case you need to resubmit the same file for processing later. or if the file is actually processed in a different date than than on your filename's. just a thought.

  • File adapter - archiving files after successful processing & errors

    Hi All
    In sender file adapter, I understand that we can archive files after processing them.
    After successful processing, we can archive the file, and if there are any errors, we can archive the file in a different folder (all files resulting in errors during processing are archived in a seperate folder).
    Now, see this scenario.
    My file is successfully picked up, processed and posted to receiving sap system thru proxy.
    But, if there is any application specific error (ex: duplicate id), because of which this data cannot be processed in the receiving system, how can i move the file which is archived in successful messages folder to the folder where we archive error messages?
    Is it possible?
    This is required because, when there are these kind of errors with incorrect data, we want the corresponding file to be archived in the folder where erred files are archived.
    Please let me know how we can achieve this.
    Many Thanks
    Chandra

    in file sender CC, thr is option to archive and error file store also..
    1)under processing mode - archive.. give the path thr..
    2) To archive source files where a permanent error occurred during processing, select Archive Faulty Source Files

    Hi,
    THe file adapter archives the file, it doesn't save the entire contents of the file in the archive folder, but saves the first recordset (row) only in XML format. Did any body face similar issue, and what's the resolution to archive the contents of the file, the way it was sent.

  • Using File Adapter with Logical Name

    I am creating a file adapter with Logical name. Apart from giving the Logical name is there any other configuration that I am suppose to do on the Web Logic before I start using it?
    Thanks in Advance.

    After configuring the file adapter, all you need to do is , give the path as a value for the logical name which you have created earlier. That you can do on the file adapter property inspector. There is no need to do anything on the server level. Lemme know

    Hi Aparna,
    I feel the problem in your content conversion parameters is with
    statement.fieldNames and ignoreRecordsetName
    When you are confirguring receiver file adapter for file content conversion the above one is not required. Please refer below link for details on configuring content conversion in file adapter

  • Sender File Adapter with file conversion

    Hi guys,
    I’m using a Sender File adapter with file conversion. The message to be processed has a structure with fixed lengths and in your content are some values that needs to be ignored.
    An example:
    value1  <b>value2</b>  value3…
    I want to ignore <b>value 2</b> but I can’t find a parameter for that! Do I need to define dummy fields on my data type and ignore those fields during mapping? Or there is a specific parameter for that?
    Thanks in advance,
    Ricardo.

    hi,
    there always is another way:)
    you can import the whole line to one field
    and cut it inside the adapter module
    (then you can define start and stop of the substring that you need to use)
    but of course it's not standard even though it's quite easy to achieve in java

  • Reg:File adapter archive Directory

    Dear team,
    Our requirement is to read a csv file from a directory and archive the file in archive folder specified in the file adapter.
    If any exception is caught,then we need to read the archieve file from archive directory rename the archive file with source file name and place it in source directory.
    On the receive activity we are able to get the source file name and source file directory.
    <receive name="Receive1" createInstance="yes"
    variable="Receive1_Read_InputVariable" partnerLink="fileRead"
    portType="ns1:Read_ptt" operation="Read">
    <bpelx:property name="jca.file.FileName" variable="srcFileName"/>
    <bpelx:property name="jca.file.Directory" variable="srcDrFolder"/>
    How to get the archive file name and archive file directory from the receive activity so that we can store in local variables.
    Pls do help.
    Thanks

    Hi,
    Another way you can accomplish your scenario. Instead of deleting or archiving in beginning just move the file from inbound to archive location after business flow completion.
    In case of error, the file will remain at original position as moving operation is at the end.
    First read the file using read operation, then at the end create a file adapter with sync read operation. Change the entries in .jca generated with below sample.
    Sample jca file.
    <endpoint-interaction portType="SynchRead_ptt" operation="SynchRead">
    <interaction-spec className="oracle.tip.adapter.file.outbound.FileIoInteractionSpec">
    <!-- Below properties are dummy except Type , it will be changed in runtime -->
    <property name="SourcePhysicalDirectory"
    value="srcdir"/>
    <property name="SourceFileName" value="abc.txt"/>
    <property name="TargetPhysicalDirectory"
    value="targetdir"/>
    <property name="TargetFileName" value="abc.txt"/>
    <property name="Type" value="MOVE"/>
    </interaction-spec>
    Then,in you bpel flow at the invoke for sync read add these two properties.
    <bpelx:inputProperty name="jca.file.SourceFileName"
    variable="varInputFileName"/>
    <bpelx:inputProperty name="jca.file.TargetFileName"
    variable="varArchiveFileName"/>
    <bpelx:inputProperty name="jca.file.SourceDirectory"
    variable="varInputDirectory"/>
    <bpelx:inputProperty name="jca.file.TargetDirectory"
    variable="varArchiveDirectory"/>

  • Reciever File Adapter - Temp File Name Scheme using Variable Substitution

    How can I create a temporary file that uses variable substitution?
    We are having a problem with files merging when we write files using the "Use Temporary File" setting on the FIle Adapter.  So two independent files are merging into a single file.  We are not using the "Append" setting.
    We would like to use a Temp File Name Scheme that would append the message id onto the temporary file name.
    Using variable substitution we created a msgid variable.  When added to the temporary file name using %msgid% the temporary file name is created with %msgid% in the name instead of the actual message id.  We put the variable into the "File Name Scheme" as well and the end completed file used the message id in the name.
    Any Ideas?
    Thanks,
    Matt

    HI Matthew,
    Why are you adding the message id into the temporary file??
    I understand that you want the output of the filename to contain message id .. and hence you are using variable substitution for the same.
    Temporary file name will anyways get overwritten by the actual file name (here the actual filename will be using variable substituion).
    So i suggest to achieve your scenario you can add any name in the temporary file and maintain the desired filename you require as output in the variable subsititution.
    Temporary File Name option actually acts as a lock - unlock mechanism from PI side while the file is getting written to the file server so that while PI is writting the file no third party application batch program picks it up.
    I hope this helps.
    Cheers

  • File Adapter: Dynamic file name

    Hello,
    I would like to use a filename like this:
    Name.<DOCNUM>.Direction.<Timestamp>
    For DOCNUM I use variable substitution. Works fine.
    For <Timestamp> I need a different format as the timestamp function
    in file adapter create. So I try to set up my timestamp in mapping like
    dynamic file name:
    DynamicConfigurationKey key1 = DynamicConfigurationKey.create("http://sap.com/xi/XI/System/File", "Timestamp");
    conf.put(key1, a);
    Input a is date function which creates my desired timestamp format. In file adapter I try this:
    Name.%DOCNUM%.Direction.%Timestamp%
    or
    Name.%DOCNUM%.Direction.Timestamp
    or
    Timestamp
    all doesn't work for Timestamp.
    So is there a possibility to configure a dynamic filename like this???
    Is there a possibility to access dynamic configuration variables in dynamic filename except
    the known for filename and directory??
    thanks

    your file name needs to be
    Name.<DOCNUM>.Direction.<Timestamp>
    dont use variable substitution. use only dynamic configuration and set the file name
    introduce a logic that will create the string
    Name.<DOCNUM>.Direction.<Timestamp>
    eg. String filename = "Name" + var_docnum + "Direction" + var_timestamp;
    then use the dynamic conf code to set the file name and use adapter specific properties in you adapter to retrieve it.

  • File Adapter vs BPEL interaction issue on high availability environment

    Hi all,
    i would really appreciate your help on a matter i'm facing about a composite (SCA) deployed on a clustered environment configured for high availability. To help you better understand the issue i briefly describe what my composite does. Composite's instances are started by means of an Inbound File Adapter which periodically polls a directory in order to check if any file with a well defined naming convention is available. The adapter is not meant to read the file content but only its properties. Furthermore, the adapter automatically makes a backup copy of the file and doesn't delete the file. Properties read by the adapter are provided to a BPEL process which obtains them using the various "jca.file.xyz" properties (configurable in any BPEL receive activity) and stores them in some of its process variables. How the BPEL process uses these properties is irrilevant to the issue i'd like to pose to your attention.
    The just described interaction between the File Adapter and the BPEL process has always worked in other non-HA environments. The problem i'm facing is that this interaction stops to work when i deploy the composite in a clustered environment configured for high availability: the File Adapter succeeds to read the file but no BPEL process instance gets started and the composite instance gets stuck (that is, it keeps always running until you don't manually abort it!).
    Interesting to say, if I put a Mediator between the File Adapter and the BPEL, the Mediator instance gets started, that is the file's properties read by the adapter are passed to the mediator, but then the composite gets stuck again 'cos even the mediator doesn't seem to be able to initiate the BPEL process instance.
    I think the problem lies in the way i configured either the SOA infrastructure for HA or the File Adapter or BPEL process in my composite. To configure the adapter, i followed the instructions given here:
    http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E14571_01/integration.1111/e10231/adptr_file.htm#BABCBIAH
    but maybe i missed something. Instead, i didn't find anything about BPEL configuration for HA with SOA Suite 11g (all the material i found refers to SOA Suite 10g).
    I've also read in some posts that for using the db as a coordinator between the file adapters deployed on the different nodes of the cluster, the db must be a RAC! Is that true or is possible to use even another type of oracle db?
    Please, let me know if someone of you has already encountered (and solved :)) a problem like this!
    Thanks in advance,
    Bye!

    Hi,
    thanks for your prompt reply. Anyway, i had already read through out that documentation and tried all settings suggested in it without any luck! I'm thinking the problem could be related to the Oracle DB used in the clustered environment, which is not RAC while all documentation i read about high availability configuration always refers to a RAC db. Anyone knows if a RAC Oracle DB is strictly needed for file adapter configuration in HA cluster?
    Thanks, bye!
