File Adapter - functionality

Hi
I am using file adapter to read 'n' number of files. I need to know which record is from which file.
Basically I need to distinguish between records of different files.
For example
In FILE_1 i have record like
First Name  Last Name   WorkLog_
          Srirama      Rallabandi      10
In FILE_2 i have the same record like
First Name  Last Name   WorkLog_
          Srirama      Rallabandi      10
So I need to know which record is from which file. Can I anyway get this information? Is there any BPEL/File Adapter API for this purpose?
I am using BPEL, Jdeveloper 10.1.3.3.
Can anyone help me out in this?
Thanks
Srirama

You can get this information out of the header itself
see these links :
http://abhishek-soablog.blogspot.com/2008/06/bpel-getting-file-name-from-file.html
http://oraclebpelindepth.blogspot.com/2008/09/ftp-file-with-dynamic-filename.html
or google on : oracle bpel file adapter header filename
and you will find enough info.

  • Enhancement of File Adapter Functionality.

We are trying to do some complex functionality and the file adapter doesnot support the functionality. Are there any guides/docs/SAP NOTES which helps us to enhance the standard file adapter functionality.

    Hi,
Have you heard about the dispatcher functionality in the adapter engine? Maybe is that an option for your functionality requirements.
    Please have a look at:
    http://help.sap.com/saphelp_xi20sr1/helpdata/en/14/80243b4a66ae0ce10000000a11402f/frameset.htm
    Some information about the dispatcher:
<i>Most of the adapters in the Adapter Engine include a dispatcher that can process a series of user exits for converting messages. For example, this dispatcher enables you to carry out file/FTP adapter conversions, XSLT transformations, or Java-based transformations either individually, or combinations of all three.</i>
Or you can also have a look at the PCK (Partner Connectivity Kit), which can be used to develop you own adapters...
    Some details about the PCK:
<i> The SAP Partner Connectivity Kit (PCK) enables smaller companies that do not dispose of an SAP XI installation to connect to SAP XI.
Customers and partners can also develop their own adapters for SAP XI. To do this, they can use the Adapter Framework in the Partner Connectivity Kit (PCK) and refer to the detailed documentation on adapter development. For more information, see SAP XI 3.0 Online documentation under SAP XI: Runtime &#8594; Connectivity &#8594; Partner Connectivity Kit &#8594; Adapter Development. </i>

  • Reading Multiple files of same kind wth File adapter  urgnt plz solve this.

    Hi evry one
i am new to BPEL and i am in need of file adapter functionality. I have a folder which has files of naming convention
NSD 123-222 090714T01:23:23 if i suppose i have some hundred files in that folder and i am pointing the file adapter to read files from that folder. The pois all the files have same naming convention with different time stamp and at the same time if all the files have same start name all of the files get picked up at the same time my concern here is if i want to process each file in a while loop as soon as the file get picked up according to the target schema.what can be the condition inthe while loop so that each file gets processed in the loop.
Is there any process where i can count the number of files in the folder so that i can make use of that count in the while process. The files in the folder are in xml format these multiple files of same target schema.
please help me in figuring out this issue.
    Regards,
    P

There is no direct solution in my opinion. What you can do is - write some java code (either embedded activity or through WSIF). In this code you access the directory and count the files, return that count to your bpel process...then use the while loop with sync read

  • Multi-platform File Adapter

We are currently looking at the requirements for several new processes involving use of the File Adapter functionality. Our production BPM environment is RedHat Linux 4, while this particular legacy system runs on Windows 2000. The legacy system is already configured to read and write XML files into Windows file shares. Some integration processes should kick off when XML files are written to the file shares. Other processes will write XML files back into the file shares. I am looking for recommendations as to the best architectural approach to dealing with this multi-platform problem within the BPEL PM. As I see it, we have a few of options:
    1.     Utilize FTP server functionality rather than direct file access to read and write the files in a platform-independent manner.
    2.     Use some other technology to bridge between the platform-specific file directories and something less dependent on platform. For example, pick up the files from the Windows directory and write them to an AQ queue. Then feed the BPEL process from the queue.
    3.     Run BPM on multiple platforms and allow the Windows instance to handle Windows file drops while the Linux instance handles Linux file drops. Obviously there is a cost penalty here as well as complexity during deployment.
Any thoughts or experiences are welcome.
    Thank you.

Have you looked into relative path's? that would solve the issue of different OS path names.
Also, you might want to consider the deployment descriptors you can use when compiliing, you can set enviroment specific variables like paths in there.

  • Receiver file adapter not functioning

    Hi guys,
We have developed some interfaces that are exporting some .txt files in ftp locations and therefore they make use of receiver file adapter. Although the receiver file adapter used to function properly some days ago, for some strange reason, it stopped receiving any files. This happens only in XI development system but not in XI production system. In XI development, in Runtime Workbench --> Communication Channel monitoring, I can see this communication channel's status as correctly configured and started, with a green sign on the right, but it is not responding when some files are sent to it, and therefore there are no output files in target directory.
    Any ideas?? It is urgent.

  • File Adapter Issue: Not functioning when used with BIC user modules

    Hi! ALL
We have been experiencing issue with file adapter, when we SeeBurger BIC user modules in sender file - FTP communication channel.
The regular FTP functionality is working fine if do not have BIC user modules defined under the module tab. However, when put in BIC user module parameters it is not picking up the file.
Also, we do not see any error logs; even the communication channel monitoring does not show any error log....only show the polling interval success, without the file being picked up.
This issue started appearing once we deployed our new sda file....as we changed our BIC mapping.
We can try doing back to our previous sda file....to see it fixes the problem.
But, before doing that ....we would like to know where the cause of this issue....Can you point us to any error logs we can find on the PI server.
    Your help is greatly appreciated!!
    Thank you,
    Patrick.

If you configured your logging correctly you should find in the log folders
    ./applications/com.seeburger.jucon/
    ./applications/com.seeburger.bicxiadapter/
Try to scan those for recent errors - if the no log files can be found you should check the defaultTrace.

Hey I found solution to this problem after R&D on JDeveloper BPEL file structure
    We just have to
Copy OrderBookingPO.xsd and POAcknowledge.xsd from the Oracle_
    Home\integration\orabpel\samples\tutorials\127.OrderBookingTu
    torial\PracticeFiles directory to the Oracle_
    Home\integration\jdev\jdev\mywork\OrderBookworkspace\POAcknow
    ledge\bpel directory.
    not in
    Oracle_
    Home\integration\jdev\jdev\mywork\OrderBookworkspace\POAcknow
ledge directory as mensitioned in Order Booking Tutorial in section Adding Transformation Logic just ignore this instruction and follow up as I have asked to you in above paragraph. Every thing will be ok...

  • Append functionality in Outbound File Adapter

    Hi all,
I have a question regarding append functionality in outbound file adapter.
When I append files for example I get a XML file with different XML files in one file, but is it also possible to collect and bundle the files and get a same result when u use BPM?
Do I have to add some parameters?
    Kind regards,
    Kamran Vakili

It is not possible, when you append XML files.
The result XML file is not valid, as you have multiple declarations and root tags.
The append mode for the file adapter should be used only for flat files.

  • Polling by file adapter (sender) with FIFO functionality

    Hi,
    here are one question:
What happen if, for example, the sender system generates multiple files with the same timestamp (HH:MM:SS), or the file adapter on XI is stopped for a moment, and then, when activated, in the source directory (polling directory) there are many files? How can XI handle the correct sequence of messages? Is this impossible. How XI poll on a file (sender) - what is the logic? The files should be polled by FIFO.
    Thanks in advance.
    Regards
    Frank

    Hi,
There is a logic called EOIO. Its exactly once in Order (EOIO). It takes care of all these iisues. Also XI gurantees the delivery of files.

  • File adapter should pick a single file at a time

    Hi,
I have File to RFC scenario.. in my source directory  I'm getting bunch of files with  the same name.  at a time.. but  i want to pick the one by one only. that means.. my file adapater poll interval is 30 seconds.. every 30 seconds it will pick the one file.. even though there are multiple files.. but my file adapter should pick a single file ata time..
but at present my file adapater was picking all the files ata time..  but i want to make my file adapter should pick single file ata time..
for this.. any special  configuration we need to do..  or  any  ideas or suggestion  .. will be.. appriciated..
    regards
    Babu

    >>any special configuration we need to do..
there is no default configuration to achieve this functionality.
I speculate that any of this should work.
    1. Post the files to a intermediate directory and use a SCRIPT/Batch program to move only one file at a time frame to the source directory.
    2. Uncheck the option Process Read only files in the sender CC to prevent the file adapter to pick the read only files. Use a script that changes the permission of one file at a time so that the file adapter will pick that file alone.
In both the cases the script needs to be scheduled at the OS level to run every 30 seconds.
    Thanks

  • File to RFC want to delay rfc or file adapter

    Hi,
I’ve got a problem with my file to RFC scenario.
XI picks up a file and puts it to an archive directory.
Then it makes a synchoon call to a RFC. Quality of Service is Best Effort
The problem is, that the function module does not execute properly, because it can not find the file, so the RFC acts to quick.
When I change the quality of service to Exactly One or Exactly One in Order it works properly but in that cause I can not see my return message in the payload from SXMB_MONI.
I guess it is not possible to delay the RFC with the help of additional parameters. The only way to handle this I think is to build a wait function into the function module but my opinion, that's not a correct solution.
    Any expert an idea?
Thanks in advance for your answers!

    Hi,
File adapter doesnot support Sychronous. It only supports Asynchronous. Even you specify as synchrounous it acts like asynchronous only. So that is the reason why you are not seeing the response message in SXMB_MONI.

  • Problem with fixedlenthgs in receiver file adapter

    HI,
I am doing XML to flat file scenario  and using mutli mapping concept without BPM.
in the receiver file adapter I am using FCC with fixedlengths, then it generated just 3 output files out of nearly 100 source files.the errored one are succcessful in the SXMB_MONI and failing in RWB-->Message moni with waiting status and MDT says that XI_J2EE_ADAPTER_FILE ,Error Code PROCESSING_ERROR .
i tried in SDN and then found something like enable the disablesecurity check box in variable substitution parameters ,then I got 4 files out.
these are my FCC params for all structures:
    struc1.fieldFixedLengths
    struc1.fixedLengthTooShortHandling
    struc1.endSeparator
and I tried with fieldSeparator then it gives successfully all output files.
so,where is the problem?I didnt understand?
    any suggestion.
    thank you,
    regards,
    Babu Sri

    Bhavesh,
I felt the same way,but assumed that ,in that way fixedlenghths wont work.
in my target structure most of the fields have 0-1 occurences ,and even in the source structure too.so,I think it might be the reason. Then I have to make all my about 60fields 1-1 madatory and using mapWithDefaultValue function, as my sources are optional.
you think it will work just using the "mapWithDefaultValue" function without changing my occurences to 1-1 in the target structure(mandatory)?infact I can try but ,cos of pain for changing like 60 fields....:) and even dont know which fields are causing the problem,so that we can apply "mapWithDefaultValue" function only on those fields.
    thank you,
    Babu Sri

  • Overwriting the File in File Adapter

    Hi All,
I hav a module processor (in Receiver file Adapter)which checks the existence of the file by name DOWN.flg befor writing the file by the same name at the same location. if the file already exists, then it has to wait until another system deletes (as per the requirement). if not, it has to write the file. I had done this successfully with an FTP receiver. but when i'm moving the same functionality to the local drive(now the receiver is a local directory on the XI Server), then i'm getting the following error.
<b>Error</b>:Attempt to process file failed with java.lang.Exception: Overwriting file '/cpe/data/DEV/XI_/IN/APD/Commander/DOWN.flg' not allowed due to configuration flag
    <b>Error:</b>
Exception caught by adapter framework: Overwriting file '/cpe/data/DEV/XI_/IN/APD/Commander/DOWN.flg' not allowed due to configuration flag
these are the errors which i found in the audit log. i din't check the overwrite Existing File option in the Receiver adapter. Can anyone help me out in resolving this.
    Anyhelp wud  b greately apprecited...
    Thnx in Advance.

    Hello Jayakrishnan,
Thank you very much for the tip, actualy it was very tricky, since the overwrite existing file option is not possible in the "append" mode on my XI version (SP12). THis is what we have done :
    - modify the communication channel to "create" mode and check the "overwrite existing file option".
    - activate it
    - chanche back to the "append" mode
    - activate it again
    And then it works !
    Thanks for your help
