File Data Source: does not support any other host except LOCALHOST?

I am using US 1.0.3.
This exercpt is from the OTN iLearn Subscribed course titled "Oracle9i UltraSearch New Features" on operating system file access:
"The file protocol is used only for the machine that launches the crawler. You can not specify any other host for this kind of URL, except LOCALHOST."
Does it mean that US 1.0.3 can not be used to search other file servers on the network? For example, we have US 1.0.3 installed on a server S1 which is on a network with other servers (e.g. S2). I want to use US to search files in the folder myDir on server S2. So I tried to create a file data source with this URL:
file://\\s2\myDir\
But I got this error:
Invalid file protocol URL: file//\\s2\myDir\
Hostname of the file URL "file://\\s2\myDir\ is not "localhost".
My question:
(1) Can US 1.0.3 search files on a different server than the one US is running on?
(2) If so, how to specify the URL using the above example for it to work?
(3) If not, how about the newer version of US, 9.2 or 9.02? Can they be used to search files on other network servers/drives?
(4) If no to question (3), is there any plan to support this in the future version of US?
My comment: Not able to search other servers really limits the userfulness of US. I really hope Oracle will consider adding this capability.

Since I posted my previous question, I have read on the 1.0.3 online help that we can define remote crawlers to crawl "on a remote machine other than the Oracle Ultra Search database". So I assume this is how to make US to search on other servers. In the online documentation it also includes the following paragraph on "Remote Crawler Profiles Page":
"Use this page to view and edit remote crawler profiles. A remote crawler profile consists of all parameters needed to run the Ultra Search crawler on a remote machine other than the Oracle Ultra Search database. A remote crawler profile is identified by the hostname. The profile includes the cache, log, and mail directories that the remote crawler shares with the database machine. "
The Remote Crawler Profiles Page, however, displays only remote crawlers already defined and the page seems to be used just for editing the porfiles of these defined remote crawlers.
My questions:
(1) How do I create the remote crawlers and defines the profiles in the first place?
(2) Where can I find more documentation on remote crawlers?
(3) Once the remote crawlers are set up, how do I specify the file URLs for each remote crawler?
(4) With US9.02 or 9.2, does remote crawler work the same as in 1.0.3, or are there any enhancements?

In BI Admin Tool, I join Essbase cube and relational source. Then I apply Ago function to Essbase measures. In BI Answer, I try to run query that includes Essbase Ago measures and relational columns(non measures), error message shows the following detail:
Error Codes: OPR4ONWY:U9IM8TAC:OI2DL65P
State: HY000. Code: 10058. [NQODBC] [SQL_STATE: HY000] [nQSError: 10058] A general error has occurred. [nQSError: 22001] Target data source does not support the AGO operation. (HY000)
When I remove the relational columns or run Essbase current-date messures, the result is fine.
So, what's exact meaning of this error message? and does the relational columns (non-measure) support Essbase measures' Ago function?

i face problem when i browse the applet using other computer which connect to my personal web page.
is it i have to sign my applet? or how to do i change policy file in each client machine that want to run my applet in a browser?

1. is it that mean if i signed all the applet class, then user just install the certificate into his/her computer?Usually the way you sign an applet is to put everything into a jar file (or in case of IE with no plugin, in a cab) file then sign it with the proper tool. The user doesn't have to install your certificate -- he/she will be prompted each time your applet is accessed to grant the permission -- if the user chose to install the certificate as a trusted certificate, then the security prompt should disappear.

The first few links in my file I/O demo tell you more about the signing and installation of NN and IE certificates.
3.. is it after installed cert, the client machine can load or call the class in his local disk?As I said in #1 above, the client doesn't have to install the certificate but must at least grant your applet the privilege. If the client chose to install the certificate, the answer is YES and will not be prompted with the security dialog box.
Why don't you go thru the steps yourself so that at least when you have to explain to your client, you will know what to say.

Source does not support direct access

Hi Friends,
I'm trying to creat DTP for Master Data Text Datasource "0CFM_BD_CLS_TEXT (Bonds Classification (Texts))" which is belonged to CML application (Core Banking Mortgage Loans), but it's not allowing me to create DTP, it is giving the error saying that "Source does not support direct access"
FYI: i've checked tht datasource in SAP R/3 'RSA6' also, there the parameter for direct access is D and also i'mnot trying to load data remotely... how to resolve this issue?

To get data remotely, the data source has to support remote accesbility. PL chekc this in RSA5 , RSA6.

after activating in RSA5 i can able to see in RSA6
but while activating the data source after the extract structure has successfully generated,
the system showing data source does not exist

when i click the maintain button save button will appear,
but in my case this save button not highlighting...
when i check in ST22 the system proposed error mesage is table illegal statement,
i found this error in many forums but its not related to datasource actvation,
plz anyone giv me solution as soon as possible...

Satelite A30 does not see any other network devices in WLan

I recently bought a Toshiba Wireless LAN Mini PCI Card, i've installed it and managed to get it to recognise my broadband but it does not see any other network devices. I was not supplied with any drivers or software to operate the card (I bought it from a proper dealer). Can you recommend downloads that would run this card?
I have a Satelite A30 laptop 1gb ram 60GB HDD.
Also large files sometimes stop transfering (hangs)when using my USB connection. The usb controller is using microsoft driver 5.1.2600.0 dated 1 june 2002.
Is this a driver problem?

If the WLan card is properly installed so you have only not configured you settings.
I dont know which devices in the broadband you mean but usually if you want to communicate or transfer files between notebooks through the WLan so all computers must be in the same domain or workgroup.
I cannot give you a proper answer but only a suggestion. I have red that sometimes a lower power could be responsible for such issue. Try to disable the option Power safe in the USB root hub properties in the device manager.

My application exe does not allow any other exe to be opened above it.

I want to ask that when my application exe runs, it does not allow any other program or any other exe to be opened above it. Instead other exe opens but behind that and my exe always remains at the top. Is there any way so that i launch any exe,and it opens above my application exe.

I had the same problem here. I was working with OBIEE 10.1.3.2, after a lot of searching an reading decided to upgrade to 10.1.3.3 and the problem was solved.

Resizing a TIFF File: Overwriting TIFFFields does not have any effect

I have some TIFF files that I am receiving through a FAX server. Some of the TIFF files have an image length of *1077 pixels and a DPI of 200x98*. These images open fine in generic viewers like Microsoft Image Viewer and IrfanView and the image size in the information dialog shows up fine (1752x2158). But when I open the images in a LeadTools viewer (that works off TIFF Header tags), the image appears stretched out.
I am trying to re-sample the image to make it a true Letter size image (1700x2200) with resolution of 200x200. I have been able to set the TAG_X_RESOLUTION and TAG_Y_RESOLUTION which I can see changed in the Tag Viewer. But changing the following tags does not have any effect on the resulting image:

TAG_ROWS_PER_STRIP
the following is the code I am using, I have tried all possible ways (removing TIFFFeilds and then adding them), but it has no effect. The last options is to use a Print Driver from within Java and Print the image (that re-samples it into a 8.5x11 inch image with 200 DPI). At this point, I am just curious about writing TIFFFields with images. Any ideas are appreciated:

The resulting image with this carries the updated DPI values (200x200) but still carries the old values of 1752x1077, the length being exactly half of what Irfan view is showing.

Basically, for viewing purposes Irfanview scales the image's height by 2 and changes the dpi to *200x196*. It does this to achieve a 'square' pixel. The image that appears on screen now looks roughly how a printer would print it. However, the image data is still the same squished 1752x1077 image.

Created new data source, does not appear in the list

Hi I created a new data source using information provided in http://otn.oracle.com/products/reports/apis/pdstutorial/textPDS/PDS_1.html. But the new data source I created does not appear in the wizard. Could some body give me a clue? Can somebody point me to more detailed documentation on how to integrate a new data source into Reports Builder?

I desperately need help to troubleshoot why my data source is not appearing in the list eventhough I feel I have done things as per the tutorial. From reading the tutotial I am not clear -
- If specifying an icon is mandatory. If I don't specify an icon my datasource should still appear right?..without an icon?
- It is mandatory to implement the editor. I have hard coded things because I don't foresee any interaction by a user with the data source. There is just one column which WILL always appear if this DS is chosen.
- Finally in the integration instructions(http://otn.oracle.com/products/reports/apis/pdstutorial/textPDS/PDS_5.html) they mention that the classes have to be compiled with "report build" , is that a tool?

LBWE -- 'Data Source Does not exit'

Hi:
I am in LBWE (ECC 6.0) trying to activate the extract structure 2LIS_05_Q0NOTIF (same as 2LIS_05_NOTIF?) but I get the message:
'Data source 2lis_05_q0notif does not exist'
Any reason why should I be getting this message when all other SD extract structures were activate without any problem?

Check RSA6 to see if the extractor has been activated.
If not, transfer it using RSA5.
