File displays properly in 8.1.2, not in 9.0.0

A PDF created in InDesign CS3 (using the Acrobat 8 engine) displays
as it should in InDesign, it prints properly from InDesign and from
PDFs in which it is embedded, but in Reader 9 the fill is missing
from the text frames and the text (white on black) cannot be seen.
Reflow (Ctrl-4) shows how it should look. Can anyone explain why
this should happen?

Trouble with the Arial Narrow font and version 8.1.2?
Our project uses a client-server Oracle Report Writer product for its reports; postscript output can be printed directly to a printer, or saved to an Adobe file. Since upgrading to Adobe Reader 8.1.2, I've noticed that the where I've used the Arial Narrow font (8,10 or 12 points) in the reports, the PDF output always changes it to bold.
Switching to the plain Arial font in my report fixes the "bold" issue, but I would rather use a font with narrow horizontal spacing, and haven't found an alternative to Arial Narrow.
Suggestions are appreciated.

  • CSS Styles not displayed properly in design view - SOLVED (not 'Display Styles')

For several weeks, I've been troubleshooting the issue of CSS
and inline styles not being displayed properly when in Dreamweaver
CS3 design view, and checking in to the forums occassionally to see
if there was a solution other than making sure "Display Styles" was
selected under View -> Style Rendering (it was, and still
    nothing would display properly!).
After much frustration, I may have found the solution to
those still experiencing the issue even after "Display Styles" is
appropriately checked. I went in to my master template for the
site, and found an erroneous <br> tag after the <link
href> for the stylesheet, which I must have inadvertantly
inserted when I added the code for the site's favicon. (You get so
used to Shift-Enter in layout mode, it's almost automatic,
regardless of what pane your in.) I can't believe I missed this
before! Deleting the erroneous tag cleaned up the whole
    site.

I had the same thing happen to me. After hours of trouble
shooting I found a bit of inappropriate code left in the HTML.
Cleaned that up and all is good. Seems like it is often something
so simple. Guess that is why it is so maddening when i can't figure
    it out!

  • Why won't my attached index.html file display properly?

    Hi
It's taken me months to get my head around DW CS5 and I have finally started to produce the first few pages of my site!
My problem now is that I need to send the unpublished pages to my client for review but simply attaching the files to an email is obviously not enough! I have a horrible feeling it's something to do with browser compatibility and I'll have to re-do what's taken me an age to do in order to get them to display correctly? When I send the page as an attachment, it opens as a blank green page with just the alt text boxes displayed and nothing else.
Or is it because my image refs are not absolute urls? Which leads me to my next question... how do I know the urls without signing up to a host and publishing the site?
Thanks in advance to anyone who can help..... I'm tearing my hair out as it's already way overdue, so I'd really appreciate any help you can offer....
    Many thanks, guys!

When I send the page as an attachment, it opens as a blank green page with just the alt text boxes displayed and nothing else.
A basic understanding of HTML would tell you that the files which appear in your "preview" such as images, and then only appear as "alt text" when you send this page to someone else cannot be solved by using an absolute URL since the absolute ULR is something like  C:\Documents and Settings\You\Documents\Site Folder\Root folder\Images\image.jpg and there is no way the recipient of the email can view pictures in a folder on your system from their system unless they can connect to your system by VPN.
If you're just running a layout by them, you should send a screen capture of the page opened in a browser. There's no need for full functionality until they are ready to go live with it and that usually would entail a face to face or putting the files to a server if you cannot sit down with them.

  • Book displayed properly in Book Proofer but not on iTunes

Last month, I successfully delivered book content onto the iTunes book store.
I created the book in Pages and exported it as an ePub. Before delivering the content, I did as suggested in the Publisher's Guide and checked the book's formatting using Book Proofer. The content appeared exactly as it should, so I delivered it to iTunes and it is now available for sale.
I purchased the book and the formatting is a mess -- nothing at all like it was designed or how it appeared when I checked it using Book Proofer.
The book is called: The Fridge Whisperer 50 Fast & Fabulous Family Faves
Has this happened to anyone else? Is there any way for me to fix it?
    Any suggestions would be appreciated.

I suggest you ask in some different forums and provide the title and details of what has gone wrong.

  • Some websites do not display properly or function

Using Firefox v29.0.1; running Win 7 Pro 64-bit version.
Some websites do not display properly - as if Firefox is not finding the CSS (Facebook for one).

Wanted to attach screenshots but see no place to do so.
    Thanks,

Looks like something in my history must have been causing it.

  • Can't Get Fonts to Display Properly in Reader

I have a poster I'm trying to make available in a PDF file on the web.
The file displays properly if it's started/loaded directly on a
computer. But, when the file is downloaded from the web using a
browser and viewed in the browser the fonts are screwed up.
The fonts are embedded in the pdf file.
How do I make the fonts display properly in the browser downloaded

  • Lately pdf files from the Web do not display properly; what is wrong and how can I fix it so I don't have to use IE?

I am a professor and frequently need to open pdfs of academic journal articles from electronic databases. Within the last two or three weeks, when I try to do this using Firefox, only the first page of the pdf displays and the rest are blank. In addition, a bar appears across the top with the message "This pdf file may not display properly." So I have had to switch to Internet Explorer to open the files and do my research. What is going on and how can I fix it so I can open pdf files from the Web in Firefox and have them display properly?

My question is simple - why would you put an application in production that has a lot of bugs? To replace a good and steady Adobe product? My customers will believe that I put a pathetic fallible form online. They are not sophisticated on computers so I just tell them to use IE. Ugh
    I must agree with pgwebgirl!

  • Compressed PDF file is not displaying properly in Windows 8 Reader app

    Hi,
We have compressed a PDF file using some third party library. The compressed file is displaying properly, when we're opening the file with ADOBE reader. The same file is displaying blank, when we're opening the file with Windows 8 reader.
Can anyone help us to solve this issue?

    Hi Puneet,
    Thanks for your reply.
I have shared the skydrive link of PDF files which are not opened properly with Windows reader.
    https://skydrive.live.com/redir?resid=2BA789F8EDB6510C!228&authkey=!ADyKA-JLOFDTqyI
Flowers.pdf is not displaying correctly and Tiger.pdf is displaying as blank in Windows reader. But both are displaying correctly in Adobe reader.
We have used LeadTools 14.5 library to compress the pdf files.

  • Pdf file in simply Chinese can not be displayed properly sometimes, how to solve it?

pdf file in simply Chinese can not be displayed properly sometimes, how to solve it?

Try a different pdf reader, like GoodReader.
Try switching your OS to Chinese (or English, if it is already in Chinese).
Verify that the pdf does display correctly on a full computer.

  • Fonts not displaying properly in Creative Cloud files

I just noticed that fonts are not displaying properly in my Creative Cloud files.  The strange thing is, they continue to display correctly in files I uploaded prior to release - it's just in files I upload now that the fonts are reverting to some generic display font.
For reference, here is a file uploaded before release:
    https://creative.adobe.com/file/7ba1e1dc-993e-4f85-bf2d-7ec4e099929e
And here is the same file uploaded just now:
    https://creative.adobe.com/file/82f1ed16-8f8c-45f5-9127-791f08ad9ec9
The display problem also applies to downloads of the newer file as a JPG, PNG or PDF, although the fonts are still present in the downloaded original file.  With the older uploaded file, download as PDF is not available (presumably because this was a release feature), but download as JPG and PNG outputs a file with the correct fonts intact.
This is a serious problem, because it makes previews inaccurate as well as making the download feature almost useless.  Was it perhaps an unintended side-effect of turning on download as PDF?

On a related topic, here's another Illustrator file with fonts displaying incorrectly, but this time it also has problems with the download links - the options for PNG, JPG and PDF do not appear at all.
    https://creative.adobe.com/file/2d6d788d-01e4-488d-90b8-46823f2017e2
This is all very strange, because they did appear in a previous version of this very same file:
    https://creative.adobe.com/file/dae50071-9596-44ce-b525-3f52663f8cca
Could it perhaps be related to the strange font behaviour?

  • DW8 files not displayed properly in DW CS3

Any help will be greatly appreciated in the following
    question:
I've been using Dreamweaver 8 successfully in creating and
maintaining several websites. However, when I try to use the newly
purchased Dreamweaver CS3 on HTML files previously created on DW8,
the files are not displayed properly (all elements are jumbled up
together in the "Design" view). But, when I do a "Preview in
Browser", the pages are just fine.
Has any other DW user had similar experiences and if so, any
    solutions?
Thanks for any help out there!

DWCS3 is much less tolerant of code mistakes than was DW8,
    and your symptoms
suggest that this may be the cause of your problems. Do the
    DW8 pages
validate when you go here -
    http://validator.w3.org?
Can you post a link to some of these pages?

  • Externally edited files not displaying properly in Aperture

I've edited some pictures in my default exteranal editor PS CS3 to take advantage of layers and some filters. When I see the thumbnail in the stack or when I try to view it in a bigger view window it looks as if one of the PS layers is acting like a mask and I can only view part of the image through the mask window.
I've tried resaving the file in PSCS3 and even making some small alteration so it is an actual new file but it's the same thing? It's a bummer because I've done a lot of work on them and would like to view them along with my other photos.
Does anyone else have this problem?

From the way you are describing the display issue this sounds like a bug that I have been screaming at Apple about for about 9 months. The bug is in CoreImage and effects everything in OS X that uses the coreimage library to display PSD files.
The issue is caused by having ANY saved alpha channels in an image, these are either created manually by you or automatically by saving a selection. Check the PSD in photoshop, click the channels tab and look for any channel that is not part of the color model itself, if one is there it is causing the display issue. If you do not need this channel then just delete it, if you must have it for some reason the work around is to load the alpha channel into a blank layer layer mask and then get rid of it. If you need it back reverse the process. Bottom line if you have a save an alpha channel it will display all wild and crazy everywhere in OS X that uses core image.

  • .RW2 Files from Panasonic G1 Not displaying properly

I have just downloaded the trial version of Aperture 3. I imported several .RW2 files on my hard drive into Aperture 3. The files displayed fine until I imported them. After I imported them they are either all black or fuzzy multicolored like old over the air TV static. I had previously important them onto my computer using light room 2.
    Any thoughts.

Similar problems here. I upgraded from 3 to 2 using the boxed disk. Installed and upgraded my library, and seemed fine. But then I noticed the same thing as you - "TV static" pictures. Also, when I tried to find the referenced file, it was gone.
Tried to reimport an image from memory card and it displays as a mosaic of two other images from the project.
I hope Apple fix this soon - not sure which is worse - no G1 support, or G1 support that doesn't work

  • PDF file not displaying properly.

I have a pdf file this is being creating in outside software.  The file displays perfectly fine in adobe 11.  However when i open the file in Acrobat 9 certain pieces are missing from the file

    David ,
The file on the right side is accessed in Adobe Reader.
The file on the left side is accessed in Adobe Acrobat .
    Both are different software.
Does this happen with this PDF or any other PDF as well?
Which version of Acrobat are you using?
This screenshot would unfortunately help us recognizing the error .
It would be great if you could share the PDF with us so that we could figure out what' going wrong.
Also ,where and how is the PDF created?
