File manager crash during capture
Using the latest version, I am getting consistent crash during capture of the file manager. Using an IBM T61P that has a 7200rpm drive. If I do frequent saves during capture I don't loose the work before the next crash. I hope I don't have to use an external drive to make this problem go away.
Any ideas out there?
Dennis already said it, but a single disk is not enough. Minimum requirements are a DEDICATED 7200 RPM (e)SATA disk for capturing. Add to that the fact that your system is dead slow (at least 50 times slower than a fast system) and that one should not do anything else during capturing, and that the system may not be tuned at all for editing and disaster is waiting to strike.
Have a look here: Adobe Forums: Guide for installing and tuning a Vista... which also applies to Win7, for a band-aid. It will not solve the issue of an extremely slow CPU, possibly integrated Intel graphics, which should be avoided at all times, shared memory, which is another no-go and the lacking disk setup.

Lately I've been having trouble capturing HDV video from my Canon HV30....FCE keeps crashing during capture. This problem has just recently started, even though I haven't changed any settings or done anything differently from the past. I'm using a 2x2.8 quad core Mac Pro, 8GB ram, OS10.6.2, FCE 4.01 and I'm capturing to a dedicated Western Digital scratch drive (640 gb, about 200 gb free). I'm capturing via Firewire, and I don't have any other firewire devices attached during capture. Any ideas why FCE has suddenly started crashing, and any ideas for troubleshooting? Thanks.
I have had the same problems attempting to capture from a Canon HV40: whether I shoot at 60i or 30P, the result is the same: Capture will open a window without any playback controls and start to play the footage (that is, it starts the camera playing) but if (a) I stop playback from the camera, or (b) the shot ends and the tape is now blank, or (c) I press ESC to end the capture as per the instruction at the bottom of the capture screen, in all instances FCE 4.01 crashes. And when i restart it, there is NO list of shots captured, nothing. But if I go into the scratch disc, they are there. I cannot get these files to open in QT, either!

Desktop Manager Crashes During Sync Phase with Notes Calendar
Hello All,
My Destop Software continually crashes at the point of Syncing with Lotus Notes Calendar. Every other part of Syncing with Notes works fine and sometimes I get a partial Sync with the Calendar, but consistently every time it crashes during this part of the process and then I get the Windows error window saying the software has encountered a problem and needs to close. Here are some other facts to help.
I am running V4.7 of the Destop Manager, latest downloaded from this web site.
PC is Win XP Proffesional, 2002 SP2. 3Gb RAM Duo Core 2GH
I have uninstalled/re-installed the Desktop Manager twice
I get other C Runtime errors with Device Manager on a random basis.
I have a BB Storm.
Anything else?
I have emailed the BlackBerry Support but seems to be a Black Hole with no response despite prompting them several times since putting in the email. I am a relatively educated PC user, My laptop is near new, I have many simple and sohpisticated applications installed with a (other than the BB Desptop application) very clean, well maintained and error free operating environment. This is a very disappointing BB first time experience.Hi and welcome to the forums!

Is this is this server based, an island, or standalone Lotus notes?

Crash during capture with Kona
I have an odd problem with video capture. During the capture, if I click onto another app or even just the Finder, Final Cut crashes. It actually looks perfectly fine: video continues to be displayed in the capture screen and disk activity continues. However, FCP doesn't come back to being the front application and I have to force quit it.
If I don't click on another app during capture, everthing is fine.
Yeah, yeah: if it hurts, don't do it, right? However, I don't think FCP should crash just because I've switched into another app (particularly when it's just the Finder & no other "real" app is running). I just added a Kona LHe card and I think this crash has started since then.
Details:

* Kona LHe
* OS X 10.4.6
* FCP 5.1.1
* external SATA array
* latest Aja drivers

fhI finally got around to calling AJA on this. They said it's to be expected. I should have realized but the problem is caused by the switching of control of the Kona card. There's a whole bunch of information about this in the Kona manual and it sounds insanely complicated, so now that I think about it, it's no surprise that switching during a capture might be bad.
AJA tech support (Rudi, I think) was, as always, fantastic. I love that company.

Fcp6 + XL-H1 + basic firewire = crash during capture ?
I'm trying to capture 1080i50 footage and fcp has crashed a few times during capture.
Anybody else having this problems?

Or are 10.5 + fcp6 + XL-H1 just incompatible to each other?Sounds like a similar problem as mine .. it captures just fine with basic NTSC. but crashes with any HDV setup .. I'm using Sony FX1 .. I went so far as to reformat my macpro' .. tried to install Tiger, but it wouldn't allow it. Apparently it is not compatible with the new Intel processor's. Tried capture without any updates .. still crashed.

Lost purchased files: computer crashed during album download
Hi there, I just purchased an album and my computer crashed during the download. When I rebooted, it continued downloading the album, but I am missing 3 tracks. Is there a way to get these files without paying for them? I'm sad to have paid for 3 tracks I didn't get! Thanks very much --
The downlaods never finished, so at the top of itunes (Where you see File, Edit, View ect ect) Hit Store>Check for purchases and all unfinished downloads/purchases should start downloading

FCE crashes during capturing/clips offline
I have a situation where i think FCE is crashing when i capture a specific part of footage. I tried twice and it froze when it got to the same exact point each time. However it did allow me to hit esc to stop the capturing process but then nothing happened after that. Would it be easier to capture only the footage i need as opposed to the entire tape?
Also, i encountered the 'clips are offline' error. How do i correct this?

Try this:-
1. Open System Preferences and then Spotlight.
2. Select the Spotlight "Privacy" folder and drag your Capture Scratch file into it. (You haven't really moved your Capture Scratch folder, you have simply stopped Spotlight from messing with it).
Then try capturing again.

FCP 7.0.3 Media Manager crashing during copy
I want to copy the used media from a project (used media is on an internal hard drive) to an external RAID drive using Media Manager in its "copy" mode. I do this when I have finished a project to "archive" the keeper video so I can clear up space on my scratch drive for the next import.
Media Manager starts OK but then crashes about 20 to 30 minutes into the copy process. Both the source and destination disk look OK in Disk Utility. Neither are full.
Tried with two different projects - both crash. Projects appear to be OK and successfully exported when last accessed.
Done this many times successfully in recent months. Only change I can think of is recent upgrade to OS.
Any thoughts on how to work out what is causing the problem.

You know when you take your car to the mechanic and report a problem but then the problem mysteriously disappears, well, after I put up the post above, I ran Media Manager for the 5th time to get the error details when it crashes - AND IT DID NOT CRASH! I have just run the Media Manager copy successfully on 3 projects. Crashed 5 times, ran successfully 3 times. And I did not change anything. Weird?

InDesign CS5 file is crashing during Package - Carbonite the reason?
I recently downloaded Carbonite to try it. Now I can't seem to package my InDesign CS5 files. I am on a PC. I get the Document Font and Link Files, but my actual .indd file never completes the Package process. I need to use the Windows Task Manager to close InDesign. Then when I re-open it I get the error message that it is trying to recover my file. Then InDesign hoses up again. I turned off Carbonite, but I can't get InDesign to stop looking or trying to recover the file. Any suggestions? I have a customer waiting....... (PS - I am scrubbing Carbonite)
I've been running Carbonite for 6 months with no problems.
I think you need to look elsewhere for the problem.

BlackBerry Desktop Manager Crashes During Launch (version 6)
We tried to install BDM v.6 for a client with a Torch BB. The installation was successful. However, upon launching the program, BDM would crash right after displaying the flash screen. At this point, the only thing visible would be an empty window.
It appears that, while BDM launches, it tries to change certain windows settings to enable itself to run properly. Users with dual video cards, or in our case specifically, EVGA (USB video card), might find themselves with an empty window. It seems as though the extra video card confuses the BDM while it tries to make the proper “modifications” to the settings, consequently never completing the launch.
The “go around” is to simply remove the EVGA USB when the use of BDM is required.Hi and welcome to the forums!

Desktop Manager Crashing during Media Transfer
I am new to the whole desktop managing system, and I have been trying to put music onto my BB through the media manager, but when it is connecting to my phone, my computer just automatically restarts. I have absolutely no idea why. Thanks.
The consensus around here is that the media manager is not worth the effort.
I suggest you enable mass storage mode, and simply drag your music onto your BB. -
GB crashing during large file export
GB 09 is crashing during an export of a project that is 2 hours and 20 min. I've tried diff export settings but the program still quits when it reaches about 3/4 of the project length.
No crashes in the past. Been exporting the project to rough cuts at various lengths from1 hour to 1 1/2, but upon finalizing the project, which happen to total over 2 hours, it can't make it through an export.
It's an audio book - talking only -no effects, other instruments, very straight forward.
I've tried exporting from the master .book file and a version with all the clips joined, tracks locked, and extra stuff deleted for project.

Media Encoder/Premiere Export Crashing During long file exports
I'm running Premiere Pro CC 2014 on a windows 7 computer--a Livestream Studio HD500. I use the computer to capture live video, which is saved as large AVI motion-jpeg files. I need to edit and export these files as compressed h.264 videos for upload to the web.
I am able to import these files into premiere and work with them, but the program crashes to desktop during any long export. I am able to export very short (1 or 2 minute) videos just fine, but anything longer will crash to desktop after a few minutes of processing. Media encoder also crashes when attempting to compress the videos prior to processing.
I have been able to circumvent this problem by compressing the files I'm working with in advance using virtualdub, but it adds an annoying step to the workflow that I'd like to eliminate. Shouldn't premiere be able to import, edit, and export compressed versions of these files without crashing?
Note: I've tried turning off GPU rendering and clearing my cache several times.
Thoughts? Much appreciated.Maybe this problem?
