File manager problem - weird .tmp folder - PLEASE ...

Every time I try to copy any type of file to my PC using File Manager, the file will not transfer and instead it creates a .tmp folder with a file inside PhoneFiles.
Has anyone also encountered this?

This post was started in april. Did any one found the solution for this? PC suite just doesnt allow to copy files directly from the Nokia file manager to PC. It creates the .tmp folder, with a 'PhoneFiles' named file in it. I just upgraded to Nokia pc suite 6.83.14.1.
Phone model: Nokia 6630
Phone firmware: Never updated
PC suite ver: 6.83.14.1
OS ver: Win XP prof with SP2
It will be very helpfull if somebody knows a solution for this.

Gnome file manager problem

lately I've noticed that in the Gnome file manager when I go to a directory with images in it, 4 will show up and all the rest don't and the cursor is in a waiting mode that it can't get out of.
What causes this and how can it correct it?

Thanks, I later rebooted and that fixed the problem. It was only in one directory.
I just moved a image to a folder and it did it again. I ran nautilus in the terminal and it only opened nautilus.
Is this a bug in Gnome? It seems to happen every time I want to move an image into a folder.
Is there a way to fix this?

Bash CDE file manager problem

I have the following problem:
I use the CDE and the bash shell. If I start a bash terminal from the file manager file menu, the environment variables are not set correctly. The entries made in the file /etc/profile are just ignored.
However, the following works correctly:
-if I start the bash terminal from the CDE toolbar
or
-if I use the bourne shell (both variants file manager and CDE toolbar work)
It seems that the file manager is not receiving the correct environment information from the CDE.

I can make a pretty good guess what the problem is. Some program is blindly picking Audacious as the default MIME handler for inode/directory, most likely because it starts with "A". Lots has already been said about this issue (try searching Google for "audacious file manager"). For now, you have to set the default MIME handler to something else manually. File Manager problem

I am trying to assist my mate uploading documents onto his site. He has been set up with Dreamweaver and is more hopeless than I am. It is a case of the blind leading the blind.
I am able to upload and overwrite files using his legacy file manager but cannot do so using his file manager.
After opening file management I then open on web root and then hit go. I am then supposed to be able to click on the upload button in order to be able to browse in order to select the file I want. I am then supposed to be able to upload it. But nothing at all happens when I first hit upload in order for me to be able to browse.
As I have said, this does not happen with legacy file manager, where it allows me to hit upload files and then allows me to browse and then upload without delay.
I contacted the bloke who installed the system and he is unsure as to why it happens. He said it could be something to do with my browser popup settings, but they are okay. I would be very grateful for advice.

I'm not sure which one he's using. I'm at my own computer at the moment and my mate's not around. I'll find out asap. Sorry my question was confusing. I am very much a layman.

File Manager multiple folders (Need Help Please)

If i open my file manager then choose the N900 icon (or whatever you name it) there are two icons of Audio clips, Camera, Documents, Images, Video clips. Can anyone help me return it to its original view where there is only one icon each.

it was definately more prevelant in the pr1.1 version and previous....but i have still had it happen in the new pr1.2 a few times...but it goes away.
post what it says on your screen when you open your phone dialer and the press: *#0000# so that we can tell what version you are on.

File attributes problem in sFTP folder

Hi,
We are doing a Synchronous process (File - RFC - File). When the input file is placed in the input folder of sFTP location it is with the permission rw-r-r. We are not able to process this file. It is not able to pick up the file.
We are only able to process the file through PI which atleast has the permission rw-rw-r.
is there anyway that PI can go and change the attributes of the file before it starts the processing.

Are you using third party adapter or any specific settings for accessing this sFTP folder? The standard PI File adapter cannot make sFTP connection directly.

IFS Manager problem... Please Help!

I am having problems getting 9IFS Manager to work. Everything else works (CUP, Java code, Web UI, etc). I am entering the same credential info that works for all my other tests (admin=system, password=manager, schema password=ifssys).
It seems that I need a TNS Listener, and I know I have one on the DB platform. Do I also need one on the 2nd tier platform where IFS is installed?
Any help would be greatly appreciated. The error message and my config info is below.

I have the same problem. I'm not using applets but standard Java application.
Yesterday I've created new Ubuntu user and under this user the program crashes with the same stacktrace as in the previous message. Under another user it works well. I can't find out where can be the difference between this users and what is the cause of the problem.
Rmiregistry is started the same way as I usually do. No parameters.

Big problem with apps folder please help :)

hi i have a macbook and i just put adobe flash and dreamwaver on there but they were taking up too much space so i got rid of them. well after that they left space where all the apps are kept in the apps folder, so i arranged them by name to tidy up the folder. now when i reboot the space is still there everytime =(
ive tried everything and the spaces in the folder are still there after reboot

With the Applications folder open in the Finder press COMMAND-J. Select display by Name from the drop down menu, check the top box to use Icon view, click on the Use as Default button on the bottom.

File manager - spuriously opening folders ?

Since upgrading to DW CS - I've generally pleased with it.
But I have
noticed a little quirk which is annoying.

There's a registry setting in the site def info for what
folders to show
expanded when a site is opened.
alternate probable fix- make a new site definition from
scratch.
probably way to prevent this from recurring- close the
folders when changing
sites or shutting dw down.
repost of old info- modify the folder location/registry key
name as needed

Summary of the solution:
It's a registry thing. so do the usual backups !!!
1. Open regedit.
2. Navigate to
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Macromedia\Dreamweaver 6\Sites\
*modify as needed for the version of dw you are using
3. Select the site number that you're having problems with
(just look in
each one e.g. "-Site3" until you see the site name being
mentioned).
4. Careful here...
Locate the values that begin with "Local Expanded Dir" and
end with a number
(there should be quite a few of 'em) and delete them.
5. Then open the value "Local Expanded Dirs" and using a
'Decimal' base,
change the value to 0 (zero).
6. Quit regedit, and that should solve it...

You can if you connect via cable. But it makes not difference unlike the pictures folder. You still have to open the office app to find the files on your device.

Ora Apps Concurrent Manager problem

Here Ora Apps 11i running on a NT server. For some reason Concurrent Manager Service ORAConcMgr terminated and it is
not starting up even if i rebooted the machine. Now unable to get any reports etc. from the system. The error thrown while
starting the service is :
Could not start the ORAConcMgr Service
Error 1058 : The service cannot be started , either be it is disabled or it has no enabled service.
Can anyone tell anything useful about it.

Could you please try to be specific on your error like 1st of all are you able to start the concurrent manager?
If so what is the status?

Solved for me.
I set the owner/permissions of my profile's mozilla folder's (and all the files in it) to read/write access, and the problem disappeared.
in linux:''

Hi. Thanks for your very informative blog. I would appreciate it if you would consider writing blog tips to answer the following:
1) Why can't I organize my files in "Documents" or "File Manager" to "see" them in their sub-folders?
BBPB allows me to create SUB folders in the Documents folder, through my pc's access to the "Documents" folder in the Playbook. However, then I cannot "see" these created sub-folders on my BBPB after I disconnect my BBPB from my PC.
All the files I downloaded into these "sub" folders end up all together in the file list in "DOCS TO GO", either in "Documents" or "Music" or "Video" or "Pictures" ---- but these files are NOT separated into the sub-folders I created. The same thing happens in "FILE MANAGER" i.e. all files on the Playbook are in ONE place only.
Is the Playbook OS ever going to allow one to view sub-folders and what is in them, other than using the pc to do it? For example, it would be desirable to put all my ppt files into one folder.
2) How do I "play" a PPT file in the BBPB?
The BBPB "User Guide" says that I can "view, edit, or play" Powerpoint Presentations. However, although it describes how to "view" or "edit" individual slides, it does not say how to "play" ("run") a slideshow. How do you "play" a self-running slideshow?
For example, in Windows, you can click "play.bat" (in a saved "presentation cd" folder on a cd or USB stick) to run the ppt with sound and pictures saved in that folder (you don't need the Powerpoint program itself for this, since you are using the "pptview.exe" file in the same folder to "play" it). However, after downloading all the files in this "presentation cd" folder to the Playbook, I could only see one of them, the ppt file itself ---- and there is no icon in the Playbook to "play" the slideshow, it seems. Help?!

First, I use an app called "File Browser" to view those subfolders.
As for running a powerpoint, I can open a ppt file and it runs in Documents to go. Next to the "Close" button there are three icons. The third one runs the ppt file as a slideshow.
